1:1And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
1:2Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;
1:3From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
1:4And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
1:5And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.
1:6Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
1:7Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
1:8Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
1:9Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.
1:10Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
1:11Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.
1:12Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
1:13Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.
1:14Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
1:15Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan.
1:16These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.
1:17And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names:
1:18And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.
1:19As the LORD commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
1:20And the children of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:21Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
1:22Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:23Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
1:24Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:25Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.
1:26Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:27Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
1:28Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:29Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.
1:30Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:31Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.
1:32Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:33Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.
1:34Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:35Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.
1:36Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:37Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.
1:38Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:39Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.
1:40Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:41Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.
1:42Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
1:43Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
1:44These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
1:45So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;
1:46Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
1:47But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
1:48For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying,
1:49Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
1:50But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
1:51And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
1:52And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
1:53But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
1:54And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.

 
1:1וידבר יהוה אל משׁה במדבר סיני באהל מועד באחד לחדשׁ השׁני בשׁנה השׁנית לצאתם מארץ מצרים לאמר׃
1:2שׂאו את ראשׁ כל עדת בני ישׂראל למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמות כל זכר לגלגלתם׃
1:3מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא בישׂראל תפקדו אתם לצבאתם אתה ואהרן׃
1:4ואתכם יהיו אישׁ אישׁ למטה אישׁ ראשׁ לבית אבתיו הוא׃
1:5ואלה שׁמות האנשׁים אשׁר יעמדו אתכם לראובן אליצור בן שׁדיאור׃
1:6לשׁמעון שׁלמיאל בן צורישׁדי׃
1:7ליהודה נחשׁון בן עמינדב׃
1:8לישׂשכר נתנאל בן צוער׃
1:9לזבולן אליאב בן חלן׃
1:10לבני יוסף לאפרים אלישׁמע בן עמיהוד למנשׁה גמליאל בן פדהצור׃
1:11לבנימן אבידן בן גדעני׃
1:12לדן אחיעזר בן עמישׁדי׃
1:13לאשׁר פגעיאל בן עכרן׃
1:14לגד אליסף בן דעואל׃
1:15לנפתלי אחירע בן עינן׃
1:16אלה קריאי העדה נשׂיאי מטות אבותם ראשׁי אלפי ישׂראל הם׃
1:17ויקח משׁה ואהרן את האנשׁים האלה אשׁר נקבו בשׁמות׃
1:18ואת כל העדה הקהילו באחד לחדשׁ השׁני ויתילדו על משׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמות מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה לגלגלתם׃
1:19כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה ויפקדם במדבר סיני׃
1:20ויהיו בני ראובן בכר ישׂראל תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמות לגלגלתם כל זכר מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:21פקדיהם למטה ראובן שׁשׁה וארבעים אלף וחמשׁ מאות׃
1:22לבני שׁמעון תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם פקדיו במספר שׁמות לגלגלתם כל זכר מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:23פקדיהם למטה שׁמעון תשׁעה וחמשׁים אלף ושׁלשׁ מאות׃
1:24לבני גד תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמות מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:25פקדיהם למטה גד חמשׁה וארבעים אלף ושׁשׁ מאות וחמשׁים׃
1:26לבני יהודה תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:27פקדיהם למטה יהודה ארבעה ושׁבעים אלף ושׁשׁ מאות׃
1:28לבני ישׂשכר תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:29פקדיהם למטה ישׂשכר ארבעה וחמשׁים אלף וארבע מאות׃
1:30לבני זבולן תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:31פקדיהם למטה זבולן שׁבעה וחמשׁים אלף וארבע מאות׃
1:32לבני יוסף לבני אפרים תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:33פקדיהם למטה אפרים ארבעים אלף וחמשׁ מאות׃
1:34לבני מנשׁה תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמות מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:35פקדיהם למטה מנשׁה שׁנים ושׁלשׁים אלף ומאתים׃
1:36לבני בנימן תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:37פקדיהם למטה בנימן חמשׁה ושׁלשׁים אלף וארבע מאות׃
1:38לבני דן תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:39פקדיהם למטה דן שׁנים ושׁשׁים אלף ושׁבע מאות׃
1:40לבני אשׁר תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:41פקדיהם למטה אשׁר אחד וארבעים אלף וחמשׁ מאות׃
1:42בני נפתלי תולדתם למשׁפחתם לבית אבתם במספר שׁמת מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא׃
1:43פקדיהם למטה נפתלי שׁלשׁה וחמשׁים אלף וארבע מאות׃
1:44אלה הפקדים אשׁר פקד משׁה ואהרן ונשׂיאי ישׂראל שׁנים עשׂר אישׁ אישׁ אחד לבית אבתיו היו׃
1:45ויהיו כל פקודי בני ישׂראל לבית אבתם מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה כל יצא צבא בישׂראל׃
1:46ויהיו כל הפקדים שׁשׁ מאות אלף ושׁלשׁת אלפים וחמשׁ מאות וחמשׁים׃
1:47והלוים למטה אבתם לא התפקדו בתוכם׃
1:48וידבר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
1:49אך את מטה לוי לא תפקד ואת ראשׁם לא תשׂא בתוך בני ישׂראל׃
1:50ואתה הפקד את הלוים על משׁכן העדת ועל כל כליו ועל כל אשׁר לו המה ישׂאו את המשׁכן ואת כל כליו והם ישׁרתהו וסביב למשׁכן יחנו׃
1:51ובנסע המשׁכן יורידו אתו הלוים ובחנת המשׁכן יקימו אתו הלוים והזר הקרב יומת׃
1:52וחנו בני ישׂראל אישׁ על מחנהו ואישׁ על דגלו לצבאתם׃
1:53והלוים יחנו סביב למשׁכן העדת ולא יהיה קצף על עדת בני ישׂראל ושׁמרו הלוים את משׁמרת משׁכן העדות׃
1:54ויעשׂו בני ישׂראל ככל אשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה כן עשׂו׃

 
1:1And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tent of meeting, on the first of the second month, in the second year of their going out of the land of Egypt, saying:
1:2`Take ye up the sum of all the company of the sons of Israel by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names -- every male by their polls;
1:3from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host in Israel, ye do number them by their hosts, thou and Aaron;
1:4and with you there is a man for a tribe, each is a head to the house of his fathers.
1:5`And these `are' the names of the men who stand with you: `For Reuben -- Elizur son of Shedeur.
1:6`For Simeon -- Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.
1:7`For Judah -- Nahshon son of Amminadab.
1:8`For Issachar -- Nathaneel son of Zuar.
1:9`For Zebulun -- Eliab son of Helon.

1:16These `are' those called of the company, princes of the tribes of their fathers; they `are' heads of the thousands of Israel.
1:17And Moses taketh -- Aaron also -- these men, who were defined by name,
1:18and all the company they assembled on the first of the second month, and they declare their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names from a son of twenty years and upward, by their polls,
1:19as Jehovah hath commanded Moses; and he numbereth them in the wilderness of Sinai.
1:20And the sons of Reuben, Israel's first-born -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, by their polls, every male from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:21their numbered ones, for the tribe of Reuben, are six and forty thousand and five hundred.
1:22Of the sons of Simeon -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, its numbered ones in the number of names, by their polls, every male from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:23their numbered ones, for the tribe of Simeon, `are' nine and fifty thousand and three hundred.
1:24Of the sons of Gad -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:25their numbered ones, for the tribe of Gad, `are' five and forty thousand and six hundred and fifty.
1:26Of the sons of Judah -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:27their numbered ones, for the tribe of Judah, `are' four and seventy thousand and six hundred.
1:28Of the sons of Issachar -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:29their numbered ones, for the tribe of Issachar, `are' four and fifty thousand and four hundred.
1:30Of the sons of Zebulun -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:31their numbered ones, for the tribe of Zebulun, `are' seven and fifty thousand and four hundred.
1:32Of the sons of Joseph -- of the sons of Ephraim -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:33their numbered ones, for the tribe of Ephraim, `are' forty thousand and five hundred.
1:34Of the sons of Manasseh -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:35their numbered ones, for the tribe of Manasseh, `are' two and thirty thousand and two hundred.
1:36Of the sons of Benjamin -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:37their numbered ones, for the tribe of Benjamin, `are' five and thirty thousand and four hundred.
1:38Of the sons of Dan -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:39their numbered ones, for the tribe of Dan, `are' two and sixty thousand and seven hundred.
1:40Of the sons of Asher -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:41their numbered ones, for the tribe of Asher, `are' one and forty thousand and five hundred.
1:42`Of' the sons of Naphtali -- their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host --
1:43their numbered ones, for the tribe of Naphtali, `are' three and fifty thousand and four hundred.
1:44These `are' those numbered, whom Moses numbered -- Aaron also, and the princes of Israel, twelve men -- each for the house of his fathers, they have been.
1:45And they are, all those numbered of the sons of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from a son of twenty years and upward, every one going out to the host in Israel,
1:46yea, all those numbered are six hundred thousand, and three thousand, and five hundred and fifty.
1:47And the Levites, for the tribe of their fathers, have not numbered themselves in their midst,
1:48seeing Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
1:49`Only, the tribe of Levi thou dost not number, and their sum thou dost not take up in the midst of the sons of Israel;
1:50and thou, appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all that it hath; they bear the tabernacle, and all its vessels, and they serve it; and round about the tabernacle they encamp.
1:51`And in the journeying of the tabernacle, the Levites take it down, and in the encamping of the tabernacle, the Levites raise it up; and the stranger who is coming near is put to death.'
1:52And the sons of Israel have encamped, each by his camp, and each by his standard, by their hosts;
1:53and the Levites encamp round about the tabernacle of the testimony; and there is no wrath on the company of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have kept the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony.
1:54And the sons of Israel do according to all that Jehovah hath commanded Moses; so they have done.
