Matthew - Chapter: 11

>
11:1And it came to passe, when Iesus had made an end of commaunding his twelue Disciples, hee departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
11:2Now when Iohn had heard in the prison the workes of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
11:3And said vnto him, Art thou hee that should come? Or doe wee looke for another?
11:4Iesus answered and saide vnto them, Go and shew Iohn againe those things which we doe heare and see:
11:5The blind receiue their sight, and the lame walke, the lepers are cleansed, and the deafe heare, the dead are raised vp, and the poore haue the Gospel preached to them.
11:6And blessed is he, whoseouer shal not be offended in me.
11:7And as they departed, Iesus began to say vnto the multitudes concerning Iohn, what went ye out into the wildernesse to see? a reede shaken with the winde?
11:8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that weare soft cloathing, are in kings houses.
11:9But what went ye out for to see? A Prophet? yea, I say vnto you, and more then a Prophet.
11:10For this is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11:11Uerely I say vnto you, Among them that are borne of women, there hath not risen a greater then Iohn the Baptist: notwithstanding, hee that is least in the kingdome of heauen, is greater then he.
11:12And from the dayes of Iohn the Baptist, vntill now, the kingdome of heauen suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
11:13For all the Prophets, and the Law prophecied vntill Iohn.
11:14And if ye wil receiue it, this is Elias which was for to come.
11:15Hee that hath eares to heare, let him heare.
11:16But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like vnto children, sitting in the markets, and calling vnto their fellowes,
11:17And saying, we haue piped vnto you, and ye haue not danced: wee haue mourned vnto you, and ye haue not lamented.
11:18For Iohn came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, he hath a deuill.
11:19The sonne of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a wine bibber, a friend of publicanes and sinners: but wisedom is iustified of her children.
11:20Then began he to vpbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not.
11:21Woe vnto thee Chorazin, woe vnto thee Bethsaida: for if the mightie workes which were done in you, had bene done in Tyre and Sidon, they would haue repented long agoe in sackcloth and ashes.
11:22But I say vnto you, It shall bee more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.
11:23And thou Capernaum, which art exalted vnto heauen, shalt be brought downe to hell: For if the mighty works which haue beene done in thee, had bin done in Sodome, it would haue remained vntil this day.
11:24But I say vnto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, in ye day of iudgment, then for thee.
11:25At that time Iesus answered, and said, I thanke thee, O Father, Lord of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these things fro the wise & prudent, & hast reueiled them vnto babes.
11:26Euen so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight.
11:27All things are deliuered vnto me of my father: and no man knoweth the sonne but the father: neither knoweth any man the father, saue the sonne, and hee to whomsoeuer the sonne will reueile him.
11:28Come vnto me all yee that labour, and are heauy laden, and I will giue you rest.
11:29Take my yoke vpon you, and learne of me, for I am meeke and lowly in heart: and yee shall find rest vnto your soules.
11:30For my yoke is easie, and my burden is light.

11:1And it came to passe, that when Iesus had made an ende of commaundyng his twelue disciples, he departed thence to teache and to preache in their cities.
11:2When Iohn being in prison heard the workes of Christe, he sent two of his disciples, and sayde vnto him:
11:3Art thou he that shoulde come? or do we loke for another?
11:4Iesus aunswered and sayd vnto them: Go and shewe Iohn agayne what ye haue hearde and seene.
11:5The blinde receaue their sight, the halt do walke, the lepers are cleansed, and the deafe heare, the dead are raised vp, and the poore receaue the Gospell.
11:6And happy is he that is not offended in me.
11:7And as they departed, Iesus began to say vnto the multitude cocerning Iohn: What went ye out into the wildernesse to see? A reede shaken with the winde?
11:8Or what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft rayment? Beholde, they that weare soft [clothyng] are in kinges houses.
11:9But what went ye out for to see? A prophete? yea I say vnto you, and more then a prophete.
11:10For this is he of whom it is written: Beholde I sende my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11:11Ueryly I say vnto you, among them that are borne of women, arose not a greater then Iohn the Baptist: Notwithstandyng, he that is lesse in the kingdome of heauen, is greater then he.
11:12From the dayes of Iohn the Baptist vntyll nowe, the kingdome of heauen suffereth violence, & the violent plucke it [vnto them.]
11:13For all the prophetes and the lawe it selfe prophecied vnto Iohn.
11:14And if ye wyll receaue it, this is Elias which was for to come.
11:15He that hath eares to heare, let him heare.
11:16But whervnto shall I liken this generation? It is like vnto litle children, which sit in the markettes, and call vnto their felowes,
11:17And say: We haue pyped vnto you, and ye haue not daunsed: we haue mourned vnto you, and ye haue not sorowed.
11:18For Iohn came neither eatyng nor drinking, and they say, he hath the deuil.
11:19The sonne of man came eatyng and drinking, and they say, behold a glutton and an [vnmeasurable] drinker of wine, and a friende vnto publicans & sinners: And wisdome is iustified of her children.
11:20Then began he to vpbrayd the cities which most of his mightie workes were done in, because they repented not.
11:21Wo vnto thee Chorazin, wo vnto thee Bethsaida: for if the mightie workes which were shewed in you had ben done in Tyre or Sidon, they had repented long ago in sackcloth and asshes.
11:22Neuerthelesse I say vnto you, it shalbe easier for Tyre and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.
11:23And thou Capernaum, which art lift vp vnto heauen, shalt be brought downe to hell: For if the mightie workes which haue ben done in thee had ben done among them of Sodome, they had remayned vntyll this day.
11:24Neuerthelesse, I say vnto you, that it shalbe easier for the lande of Sodome in the day of iudgement, then for thee.
11:25At that tyme Iesus aunswered and sayde: I thanke thee O father, Lorde of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these thinges from the wise and prudent, and hast shewed them vnto babes.
11:26Euen so [it is] O father, for so was it thy good pleasure.
11:27All thinges are geuen vnto me of my father: And no man knoweth the sonne but the father, neither knoweth any man the father saue the sonne, and he to whomsoeuer the sonne wyll open him.
11:28Come vnto me all ye that labour sore, and are laden, and I wyll ease you.
11:29Take my yoke vpon you and learne of me, for I am meeke & lowly in heart: and ye shall finde rest vnto your soules.
11:30For my yoke is easie, and my burthen is lyght.

11:1And it came to passe that when Iesus had made an ende of commaunding his twelue disciples, hee departed thence to teache and to preach in their cities.
11:2And when Iohn heard in the prison the woorkes of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and sayde vnto him,
11:3Art thou he that shoulde come, or shall we looke for another?
11:4And Iesus answering, said vnto them, Goe, and shewe Iohn, what things ye heare, and see.
11:5The blinde receiue sight, and the halt doe walke: the lepers are clensed, and the deafe heare, the dead are raised vp, and the poore receiue the Gospel.
11:6And blessed is he that shall not be offeded in me.
11:7And as they departed, Iesus beganne to speake vnto the multitude, of Iohn, What went ye out into the wildernes to see? A reede shaken with the winde?
11:8But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that weare soft clothing, are in Kings houses.
11:9But what went ye out to see? A Prophet? Yea, I say vnto you, and more then a Prophet.
11:10For this is he of whom it is written, Beholde, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11:11Verely I say vnto you, among them which are begotten of women, arose there not a greater then Iohn Baptist: notwithstanding, he that is the least in the kingdome of heauen, is greater then he.
11:12And from the time of Iohn Baptist hitherto, the kingdome of heauen suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
11:13For all the Prophetes and the Lawe prophecied vnto Iohn.
11:14And if ye will receiue it, this is that Elias, which was to come.

11:20Then began he to vpbraide the cities, wherein most of his great workes were done, because they repented not.
11:21Woe be to thee, Chorazin: Woe be to thee, Bethsaida: for if ye great workes, which were done in you, had bene done in Tyrus and Sidon, they had repented long agone in sackecloth and ashes.
11:22But I say to you, It shalbe easier for Tyrus and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.

11:24But I say vnto you, that it shall be easier for them of the land of Sodom in the day of iudgement, then for thee.
11:25At that time Iesus answered, and saide, I giue thee thankes, O Father, Lord of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and men of vnderstanding, and hast opened them vnto babes.
11:26It is so, O Father, because thy good pleasure was such.
11:27All things are giuen vnto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Sonne, but ye Father: neither knoweth any man ye Father, but the Sonne, and he to whom ye Sonne will reueile him.
11:28Come vnto me, all ye that are wearie and laden, and I will ease you.
11:29Take my yoke on you, and learne of me that I am meeke and lowly in heart: and ye shall finde rest vnto your soules.
11:30For my yoke is easie, and my burden light.
