15:1Thanne the scribis and the Farisees camen to hym fro Jerusalem, and seiden,
15:2Whi breken thi disciplis the tradiciouns of eldere men? for thei waisschen not her hondis, whanne thei eten breed.
15:3He answeride, and seide to hem, Whi breken ye the maundement of God for youre tradicioun?
15:4For God seide, Honoure thi fadir and thi modir, and he that cursith fadir or modir, die bi deeth.
15:5But ye seien, Who euer seith to fadir or modir, What euere yifte is of me, it schal profite to thee;
15:6and he hath not worschipid his fadir or his modir; and ye han maad the maundement of God voide for youre tradicioun.
15:7Ypocritis, Isaie, the prophete, prophesiede wel of you,
15:8and seide, This puple honourith me with lippis, but her herte is fer fro me;
15:9and thei worschipen me `with outen cause, techynge the doctrines and maundementis of men.
15:10And whanne the puple weren clepid to gidere to hym, he seide to hem, Here ye, and `vndurstonde ye.
15:11That thing that entrith in to the mouth, defoulith not a man; but that thing that cometh out of the mouth, defoulith a man.
15:12Thanne hise disciplis camen, and seiden to hym, Thou knowist, that, if this word be herd, the Farisees ben sclaundrid?
15:13And he answeride, and seide, Eueri plauntyng, that my fadir of heuene hath not plauntid, shal be drawun vp by the roote.
15:14Suffre ye hem; thei ben blynde, and leederis of blynde men. And if a blynd man lede a blynd man, bothe fallen doun in to the diche.
15:15Petre answeride, and seide to hym, Expowne to vs this parable.
15:16And he seide, Yit `ye ben also with oute vndurstondyng?
15:17Vndurstonden ye not, that al thing that entrith in to the mouth, goith in to the wombe, and is sent out in to the goyng awei?
15:18But tho thingis that comen forth fro the mouth, goon out of the herte, and tho thingis defoulen a man.
15:19For of the herte goon out yuele thouytis, mansleyngis, auowtries, fornycaciouns, theftis, fals witnessyngis, blasfemyes.
15:20Thes thingis it ben that defoulen a man; but to ete with hondis not waischun, defoulith not a man.
15:21And Jhesus yede out fro thennus, and wente in to the coostis of Tire and Sidon.
15:22And lo! a womman of Canane yede out of tho coostis, and criede, and seide to him, Lord, the sone of Dauid, haue merci on me; my douyter is yuel traueilid of a feend.
15:23And he answeride not to hir a word. And hise disciplis camen, and preieden hym, and seiden, Leue thou hir, for she crieth aftir vs.
15:24He answeride, and seide, Y am not sent, but to the scheep of the hous of Israel that perischiden.
15:25And she cam, and worschipide hym, and seide, Lord, helpe me.
15:26Which answeride, and seide, It is not good to take the breed of children, and caste to houndis.
15:27And she seide, Yhis, Lord; for whelpis eten of the crummes, that fallen doun fro the bord of her lordis.
15:28Thanne Jhesus answeride, and seide to hir, A! womman, thi feith is greet; be it doon to thee, as thou wolt. And hir douytir was helid fro that hour.
15:29And whanne Jhesus hadde passed fro thennus, he cam bisidis the see of Galilee. And he yede vp in to an hil, and sat there.
15:30And myche puple cam to hym, and hadden with hem doumbe men and crokid, feble and blynde, and many other; and thei castiden doun hem at hise feet. And he helide hem,
15:31so that the puple wondriden seynge doumbe men spekynge, and crokid goynge, blynde men seynge; and thei magnyfieden God of Israel.
15:32And Jhesus, whanne hise disciplis weren clepid to gidere, seide to hem, Y haue reuthe of the puple, for thei han abiden now thre daies with me, and han no thing to ete; and Y wole not leeue hem fastynge, lest thei failen in the weie.
15:33And the disciplis seien to him, Wherof thanne so many looues among vs in desert, to fulfille so greet a puple?
15:34And Jhesus seide to hem, Hou many looues han ye? And thei seiden, Seuene, and a fewe smale fisshis.
15:35And he comaundide to the puple, to sitte to mete on the erthe.
15:36And he took seuene looues and fyue fischis, and dide thankyngis, and brak, and yaf to hise disciplis; and the disciplis yauen to the puple.
15:37And alle eten, and weren fulfillid, and thei token that that was left of relifes, seuene lepis fulle.
15:38And thei that eten weren foure thousynde of men, with outen litle children and wymmen.
15:39And whanne he hadde left the puple, he wente vp in to a boot, and cam in to the coostis of Magedan.

15:1Then came to Iesus the Scribes and Pharises, which were of Hierusalem, saying,
15:2Why do thy disciples transgresse the tradition of the Elders? for they wash not their hands when they eate bread.
15:3But he answered and said vnto them, Why doe yee also transgresse the commandement of God by your tradition?
15:4For God hath commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and he that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
15:5But ye say, Whosoeuer shall say to father or mother, By the gift that is offered by me, thou maiest haue profite,
15:6Though hee honour not his father, or his mother, shalbe free: thus haue ye made the commandement of God of no aucthoritie by your tradition.
15:7O hypocrites, Esaias prophecied well of you, saying,
15:8This people draweth neere vnto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with the lips, but their heart is farre off from me.
15:9But in vaine they worship me, teaching for doctrines, mens precepts.
15:10Then hee called the multitude vnto him, and said to them, Heare and vnderstand.
15:11That which goeth into the mouth, defileth not the man, but that which commeth out of the mouth, that defileth the man.
15:12Then came his disciples, and saide vnto him, Perceiuest thou not, that the Pharises are offended in hearing this saying?
15:13But hee answered and saide, Euery plant which mine heauenly Father hath not planted, shalbe rooted vp.
15:14Let them alone, they be the blinde leaders of the blinde: and if the blinde leade ye blinde, both shall fall into the ditche.
15:15Then answered Peter, and said to him, Declare vnto vs this parable.
15:16Then said Iesus, Are ye yet without vnderstanding?
15:17Perceiue ye not yet, that whatsoeuer entreth into the mouth, goeth into the bellie, and is cast out into the draught?
15:18But those thinges which proceede out of the mouth, come from the heart, and they defile the man.
15:19For out of the heart come euil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, slaunders.
15:20These are the things, which defile the man: but to eat with vnwashen hands, defileth not ye man.
15:21And Iesus went thence, and departed into the coastes of Tyrus and Sidon.
15:22And beholde, a woman a Cananite came out of the same coasts, and cried, saying vnto him, Haue mercie on me, O Lord, the sonne of Dauid: my daughter is miserably vexed with a deuil.
15:23But hee answered her not a worde. Then came to him his disciples, and besought him, saying, Sende her away, for she crieth after vs.
15:24But he answered, and said, I am not sent, but vnto the lost sheepe of the house of Israel.
15:25Yet she came, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, helpe me.
15:26And he answered, and said, It is not good to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to whelps.
15:27But she said, Trueth, Lord: yet in deede the whelpes eate of the crommes, which fall from their masters table.
15:28Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it to thee, as thou desirest. And her daughter was made whole at that houre.
15:29So Iesus went away from thence, and came neere vnto the sea of Galile, and went vp into a mountaine and sate downe there.
15:30And great multitudes came vnto him, hauing with them, halt, blinde, dumme, maymed, and many other, and cast them downe at Iesus feete, and he healed them.
15:31In so much that the multitude wondered, to see the dumme speake, the maimed whole, the halt to goe, and the blinde to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.
15:32Then Iesus called his disciples vnto him, and said, I haue compassion on this multitude, because they haue continued with mee already three dayes, and haue nothing to eate: and I wil not let them depart fasting, least they faint in the way.
15:33And his disciples saide vnto him, Whence should we get so much bread in the wildernes, as should suffice so great a multitude!
15:34And Iesus said vnto them, How many loaues haue ye? And they said, Seuen, and a few litle fishes.
15:35Then he commanded the multitude to sit downe on the ground,
15:36And tooke the seuen loaues, and the fishes, and gaue thankes, and brake them, and gaue to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
15:37And they did all eate, and were sufficed: and they tooke vp of the fragments that remained, seuen baskets full.
15:38And they that had eaten, were foure thousand men, beside women, and litle children.
15:39Then Iesus sent away the multitude, and tooke ship, and came into the partes of Magdala.

15:1Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus saying,
15:2"Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? Because they do not wash their hands when they eat bread."
15:3But He answered and said to them, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?"
15:4Because, God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother; and, He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death."
15:5But you say, 'Whosoever says to his father or his mother, "Whatever profit you may have received from me has become a gift,"
15:6and does not honor his father or his mother, because he will be exempt.' Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition."
15:7You hypocrites! Isaiah correctly prophesied about you, saying:"
15:8'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me."
15:9But in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"
15:10Then He called the crowds and said to them, "Hear and understand:"
15:11Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
15:12Then His disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?"
15:13But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted."
15:14Leave them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch."
15:15Then Peter replied and said to Him, "Explain this parable to us."
15:16And Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding?"
15:17Do you still not understand that whatever enters into the mouth goes into the stomach, and is cast out into the drain?"
15:18But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man."
15:19Because, out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies."
15:20These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."
15:21Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon.
15:22And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region, and shouted to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, You Son of David! My daughter is severely tormented with a demon."
15:23But He did not reply one word to her. And His disciples came and asked Him, saying, "Send her away; because, she shouts out to us."
15:24But He replied and said, "I am not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
15:25Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!"
15:26But He replied and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread, and throw it to dogs."
15:27And she said, "True, Lord, yet the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."
15:28Then Jesus replied and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
15:29Then Jesus left there, and came near to the sea of Galilee, and went up on a mountain, and sat down there.
15:30And large crowds came to Him, having with them those who were lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus' feet; and He healed them.
15:31So the crowds marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
15:32Then Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, "I have compassion on the crowd, because, they have continued with Me for three days now and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away fasting, lest they faint on the way."
15:33And His disciples said to Him, "Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a large crowd?"
15:34And Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" And they said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
15:35And He commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground.
15:36And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, then broke them and gave to His disciples; and the disciples to the crowd.
15:37So they all ate, and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left.
15:38Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
15:39And He sent the crowd away, got into a boat, and came into the region of Magdala.
