16:1	The Pharises also, with the Sadduces, came, and tempting, desired him that hee would shew them a signe from heauen.
16:2	He answered, and said vnto them, When it is euening, yee say, It will bee faire weather: for the skie is red.
16:3	And in the morning, It will be foule weather to day: for the skie is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, yee can discerne the face of the skie, but can ye not discerne the signes of the times?
16:4	A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a signe, and there shall no signe be giuen vnto it, but the signe of the Prophet Ionas. And hee left them, and departed.
16:5	And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
16:6	Then Iesus said vnto them, Take heed and beware of the leauen of the Pharises, and of the Sadduces.
16:7	And they reasoned among themselues, saying, It is because we haue taken no bread.
16:8	Which when Iesus perceiued, he said vnto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among your selues, because ye haue brought no bread?
16:9	Doe ye not yet vnderstand, neither remember the fiue loaues of the fiue thousand, and how many baskets ye tooke vp?
16:10	Neither the seuen loaues of the foure thousand, and how many baskets ye tooke vp?
16:11	How is it that ye doe not vnderstand, that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leauen of the Pharises, and of the Sadduces?
16:12	Then vnderstood they how that he bade them not beware of the leauen of bread: but of the doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Sadduces.
16:13	When Iesus came into the coasts of Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom doe men say, that I, the sonne of man, am?
16:14	And they said, Some say that thou art Iohn the Baptist, some Elias, and others Ieremias, or one of ye Prophets.
16:15	He saith vnto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16:16	And Simon Peter answered, and said, Thou art Christ the sonne of the liuing God.
16:17	And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, Blessed art thou Simon Bar Iona: for flesh and blood hath not reueiled it vnto thee, but my Father which is in heauen.
16:18	And I say also vnto thee, that thou art Peter, and vpon this rocke I will build my Church: and the gates of hell shall not preuaile against it.
16:19	And I will giue vnto thee the keyes of the kingdome of heauen: and whatsoeuer thou shalt bind on earth, shall be bound in heauen: whatsoeuer thou shalt loose on earth, shall be loosed in heauen.
16:20	Then charged hee his disciples that they should tel no man that he was Iesus the Christ.
16:21	From that time foorth began Iesus to shew vnto his disciples, how that he must goe vnto Hierusalem, and suffer many things of the Elders and chiefe Priests & Scribes, and be killed, and be raised againe the third day.
16:22	Then Peter tooke him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it farre from thee Lord: This shal not be vnto thee.
16:23	But he turned, and said vnto Peter, Get thee behind mee, Satan, thou art an offence vnto me: for thou sauourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
16:24	Then said Iesus vnto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him denie himselfe, and take vp his crosse, and follow me.
16:25	For whosoeuer will saue his life, shall lose it: and whosoeuer will lose his his life for my sake, shall finde it.
16:26	For what is a man profited, if hee shal gaine the whole world, and lose his owne soule? Or what shall a man giue in exchange for his soule?
16:27	For the sonne of man shall come in the glory of his father, with his Angels: and then he shall reward euery man according to his works.
16:28	Uerely I say vnto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Sonne of man comming in his Kingdome.

16:10	Neither the seuen loaues when there were foure thousande men, and howe many baskets tooke ye vp?
16:11	Why perceiue ye not that I said not vnto you concerning bread, that ye shoulde beware of the leauen of the Pharises and Sadduces?
16:12	Then vnderstood they that he had not said that they should beware of the leauen of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharises, and Sadduces.
16:13	Nowe when Iesus came into the coastes of Cesarea Philippi, hee asked his disciples, saying, Whome doe men say that I, the sonne of man am?
16:14	And they said, Some say, Iohn Baptist: and some, Elias: and others, Ieremias, or one of the Prophets.
16:15	He said vnto them, But whome say ye that I am?

16:20	Then hee charged his disciples, that they should tell no man that he was Iesus that Christ.
16:21	From that time foorth Iesus beganne to shewe vnto his disciples, that he must goe vnto Hierusalem, and suffer many thinges of the Elders, and of the hie Priestes, and Scribes, and be slaine, and be raised againe the thirde day.
16:22	Then Peter tooke him aside, and began to rebuke him, saying, Master, pitie thy selfe: this shall not be vnto thee.
16:23	Then he turned backe, and said vnto Peter, Get thee behinde me, Satan: thou art an offence vnto me, because thou vnderstandest not the thinges that are of God, but the thinges that are of men.
16:24	Iesus then saide to his disciples, If any man will follow me, let him forsake himselfe: and take vp his crosse, and follow me.
16:25	For whosoeuer will saue his life, shall lose it: and whosoeuer shall lose his life for my sake, shall finde it.
16:26	For what shall it profite a man though he should winne the whole worlde, if hee lose his owne soule? or what shall a man giue for recompence of his soule?
16:27	For the Sonne of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his Angels, and then shall he giue to euery man according to his deedes.
16:28	Verely I say vnto you, there bee some of them that stande here, which shall not taste of death, till they haue seene the Sonne of man come in his kingdome.


16:1	The Pharises also wt the Saduces, came and tempted him & desyred him that he wolde shewe them a sygne from heuen.
16:2	He answered and sayde vnto them: whan it begynneth to drawe toward euen, ye saye, it wylbe fayre wether, for the skye is reed?
16:3	And in the mornynge: It wylbe foule wether to daye, for the skye is glowmyng reed. O ye ypocrites, ye can discerne the outward appearaunce of the skye: but can ye not discerne the sygnes of the tymes?
16:4	The frowarde & aduoutrous nacyon requyreth a sygne, and there shall no sygne be geuen vnto it, but the sygne of the Prophet Ionas. And he lefte them, and departed.
16:5	And when his disciples were come to the other syde of the water, they had forgotten to take breed with them.
16:6	Then Iesus sayde vnto them. Take hede and beware of the leuen of the Pharises & of the Saduces.
16:7	And they thought in them selues saying: we haue taken no breed wt vs.
16:8	Which whan Iesus vnderstode, he sayd vnto them: O ye of lytell faith, why take ye thought within your selues, because ye haue brought no breed?
16:9	Do ye not yet perceaue, nether remember those .v. loaues, when there were .v.M. men, & how many baskettes toke ye vp?
16:10	Nether the .vii. loues when there were .iiii.M. men: & how many baskettes toke ye vp?
16:11	how happeneth it that ye do not vnderstande, that I spake it not vnto you concernyng breed, that ye shulde beware of the leuen of the Pharises, & of the Saduces?
16:12	Then vnderstode they, how that he bad not them beware of the leuen of breed: but of the doctrine of the Pharises, and of the Saduces.
16:13	When Iesus cam into the coastes of the cite which is called Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples sayinge whom do men saye that I the sonne of man am?
16:14	They sayde: some saye that thou art Iohn Baptist, some Helyas, some Ieremias, or one of the nombre of the prophetes.
16:15	He sayeth vnto them: but whom saye ye that I am?
16:16	Simon Peter answered & sayde: Thou art Christ the sone of the lyuynge God.
16:17	And Iesus answered, & sayde vnto hym: happy art thou Simon the sonne of Ionas, for fleshe & bloud hath not opened that vnto the but my father which is in heuen.
16:18	And I saye also vnto the that thou art Peter: & vpon this rocke I wil bylde my congregacion. And the gates of hell shal not preuayle agaynst it.
16:19	And I wil geue vnto the, the keyes of the kyngdom of heuen: And whatsoeuer thou byndest in erth, shall be bounde in heuen: & whatsoeuer thou loosest in erth, shalbe lowsed in heuen.
16:20	Then charged he hys disciples, that they shulde tell no man, that he was Iesus Chris
16:21	From that tyme forth beganne Iesus to shewe vnto his disciples, how that he must go vnto Ierusalem, & suffer many thinges of the elders, & hye Prestes, & Scribes, & must be kylled, and be raysed agayne the thyrde daye.
16:22	And when Peter had taken him asyde, he began to rebuke him, saying: master, fauer thy selfe, this shal not happen vnto the:
16:23	but he turned him aboute, and sayde vnto Peter: go after me Satan, thou hyndrest me: for thou sauourest not the thinges that be of God, but those that be of men.
16:24	Then sayde Iesus vnto his disciples: If eny man wil folowe me, let him forsake him selfe & take vp his crosse, & folowe me
16:25	For whoso wil saue his lyfe, shall loose it. Agayne, whoso doth lose his life for my sake, shall fynde it.
16:26	For what doth it proffet a man, yf he wynne all the whole worlde: & lose hys awne soule? Or what shal a man geue to redeme his soule agayne with all?
16:27	For the sonne of man shall come in the glory of his father, wt his angels: & then shall he rewarde euery man accordinge to his dedes.
16:28	Uerely I saye vnto you, ther be stondinge here, which shall not tast of deeth, tyll they se the sonne of man come in hys kyngdome.
