Matthew - Chapter: 20

>
20:1For the kyngedom of heauen is lyke vnto an housholder, which went out early in the mornynge to hyre labourers into hys vyneyarde.
20:2And he agreed with the labourers for a peny a daye, and sent them into hys vyneyarde.
20:3And he went out about the .iij. houre, and saw other standing ydel in the market place,
20:4and sayd vnto them, go ye also into my vineyard: and whatsoeuer is right, I wil geue you. And they went theyr waye.
20:5Agayn he went out about the sixt and nynth houre and did likewise.
20:6And he went out about the eleuenth houre, and founde other standynge ydel, and sayde vnto theim: Why stande ye here all the day ydell?
20:7They sayde vnto hym: because no man hath hyred vs. He sayde to them go ye also into my vyneyarde, & whatsoeuer is right, that shall ye receyue.
20:8When euen was come, the Lorde of the vineyarde sayde vnto hys Stewarde: call the labourers, and geue them their hyer, beginning at the laste, tyll thou come to the first.
20:9And they whiche were hyred about the eleuenth houre, came and receyued euery man a peny.
20:10Then came the first, supposing that they should receyue more, and they lykewise receyued euery man a peny.
20:11And when they had receyued it, they murmured agaynst the good man of the house
20:12saying: These laste haue wrought but one houre, and thou haste made theym equall vnto vs whiche haue borne the burthen, and heat of the daye.
20:13He aunswered to one of them, saying: frende I do the no wrong: diddest thou not agre with me for a peny?
20:14Take that which is thy duety, and go thy waye, I will geue vnto thys laste as muche as to the.
20:15Is it not lawful for me to do as me lusteth with myne owne? Is thyne eye euel because I am good?
20:16So the laste shalbe firste, and the first shalbe laste. For many are called, and few be chosen.
20:17And Iesus ascended to Ierusalem and toke the .xij. disciples a parte in the way, and sayde to them:
20:18Beholde we go vp to Ierusalem, and the sonne of man shalbe betrayed vnto the chief priestes and vnto the scribes: and they shal condemne hym to death,
20:19and shall deliuer hym to the gentels, to be mocked, to be scourged, & to be crucified, and the thirde daye he shall rise agayne.
20:20Then came to him the mother of Zebedes chyldren with her sonnes, worshippyng hym and desiring a certayn thinge of hym.
20:21And he saide vnto her: what wilt thou haue? She said vnto hym: Graunt that these my two sonnes maye sitte, the one on thy right hande, and the other on the lift hande in thy kyngdome
20:22Iesus aunswered and sayde: Ye wotte not what ye are. Are ye able to drinke of the cup that I shall drynke of: and to be baptised with the baptisme that I shalbe baptised wt?
20:23They aunswered to hym: that we are. And he sayde vnto them: Ye shall drynke of my cup, & shal be baptised with the baptisme that I shalbe baptised with. But to sit on my right hande and on my lifte hande, is not myne to geue: but to them for whome it is prepared of my father.
20:24And when the ten hearde this, they disdayned at the two brethren.
20:25But Iesus called them vnto hym and sayd: Ye know that the Lordes of the gentils haue domination ouer them. And they that are great, exercyse power ouer them.
20:26It shall not be so amonge you. But whosoeuer wil be great amonge you, let hym be your minister,
20:27and whosoeuer wil be chief, let hym be your seruaunt,
20:28euen as the sonne of man came not to be minnistred vnto, but to minister, and to geue his life for the redempcion of many.
20:29And as they departed from Hiericho, much people folowed hym.
20:30And beholde two blynd men sitting by the way syde, when thei heard Iesus passe by, cryed saying: Thou Lord the sonne of Dauid haue mercy on vs.
20:31And the people rebuked theym: because they shoulde holde their peace. But they cried the more sayinge: Haue mercy on vs thou Lord which art the sonne of Dauid.
20:32Then Iesus stode styll, & called them, and sayde: What will ye that I shoulde do to you?
20:33Thei sayde to him: Lorde, that our eyes maye be opened.
20:34Iesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes. And immediatly their eyes receiued sight. And thei folowed him.

20:1For the kingdome of heauen is like vnto a certaine, housholder, which went out at the dawning of the day to hire labourers into his vineyarde.
20:2And he agreed with the labourers for a peny a day, and sent them into his vineyard.
20:3And he went out about the third houre, and sawe other standing idle in the market place,
20:4And sayd vnto them, Goe ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoeuer is right, I will giue you: and they went their way.
20:5Againe he went out about the sixt and ninth houre, and did likewise.
20:6And he went about the eleuenth houre, and found other standing idle, and sayd vnto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
20:7They sayd vnto him, Because no man hath hired vs. He sayd to them, Goe ye also into my vineyard, and whatsoeuer is right, that shall ye receiue.
20:8And when euen was come, the master of the vineyard sayd vnto his steward, Call the labourers, and giue them their hire, beginning at the last, till thou come to the first.
20:9And they which were hired about ye eleuenth houre, came and receiued euery man a penie.
20:10Nowe when the first came, they supposed that they should receiue more, but they likewise receiued euery man a penie.
20:11And when they had receiued it, they murmured against the master of the house,
20:12Saying, These last haue wrought but one houre, and thou hast made them equall vnto vs, which haue borne the burden and heate of the day.
20:13And hee answered one of them, saying, Friend, I doe thee no wrong: didst thou not agree with me for a penie?
20:14Take that which is thine owne, and go thy way: I will giue vnto this last, as much as to thee.
20:15Is it not lawfull for me to do as I will with mine owne? Is thine eye euil, because I am good?
20:16So the last shalbe first, and the first last: for many are called, but fewe chosen.
20:17And Iesus went vp to Hierusalem, and tooke the twelue disciples apart in the way, and said vnto them,
20:18Beholde, wee goe vp to Hierusalem, and the Sonne of man shall bee deliuered vnto the chiefe priestes, and vnto the Scribes, and they shall condemne him to death,
20:19And shall deliuer him to the Gentiles, to mocke, and to scourge, and to crucifie him, but the third day he shall rise againe.
20:20Then came to him the mother of Zebedeus children with her sonnes, worshipping him, and desiring a certaine thing of him.
20:21And he said vnto her, What wouldest thou? She said to him, Graunt that these my two sonnes may sit, the one at thy right hand, and the other at thy left hand in thy kingdome.
20:22And Iesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye aske. Are ye able to drinke of the cup that I shall drinke of, and to be baptized with the baptisme that I shalbe baptized with? They said to him, We are able.
20:23And he said vnto them, Ye shall drinke in deede of my cup, and shall be baptized with the baptisme, that I am baptized with, but to sit at my right hande, and at my left hand, is not mine to giue: but it shalbe giuen to them for whome it is prepared of my Father.
20:24And when the other ten heard this, they disdained at the two brethren.
20:25Therefore Iesus called them vnto him, and saide, We knowe that the lordes of the Gentiles haue domination ouer them, and they that are great, exercise authoritie ouer them.
20:26But it shall not be so among you: but whosoeuer will be great among you, let him be your seruant.
20:27And whosoeuer will be chiefe among you, let him be your seruant.
20:28Euen as the Sonne of man came not to be serued, but to serue, and to giue his life for the ransome of many.
20:29And as they departed from Iericho, a great multitude followed him.
20:30And beholde, two blinde men, sitting by the way side, when they heard that Iesus passed by, cryed, saying, O Lord, the Sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on vs.
20:31And the multitude rebuked them, because they should holde their peace: but they cried the more, saying, O Lord, the Sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on vs.
20:32Then Iesus stoode still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I should do to you?
20:33They saide to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
20:34And Iesus mooued with compassion, touched their eyes, and immediatly their eyes receiued sight, and they followed him.

20:1For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
20:2And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
20:3And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
20:4And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
20:5Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
20:6And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
20:7They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.
20:8So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
20:9And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
20:10But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
20:11And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house,
20:12Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
20:13But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
20:14Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
20:15Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
20:16So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
20:17And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,
20:18Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
20:19And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
20:20Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him.
20:21And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
20:22But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
20:23And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
20:24And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
20:25But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
20:26But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
20:27And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
20:28Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
20:29And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
20:30And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
20:31And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
20:32And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
20:33They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
20:34So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
