Matthew - Chapter: 20

>
20:1The kyngdom of heuenes is lijc to an housbonde man, that wente out first bi the morewe, to hire werk men in to his vyneyerd.
20:2And whanne the couenaunt was maad with werk men, of a peny for the dai, he sente hem in to his vyneyerd.
20:3And he yede out aboute the thridde our, and say othere stondynge idel in the chepyng.
20:4And he seide to hem, Go ye also in to myn vynyerd, and that that schal be riytful, Y schal yyue to you.
20:5And thei wenten forth. Eftsoones he wente out aboute the sixte our, and the nynthe, and dide in lijk maner.
20:6But aboute the elleuenthe our he wente out, and foond other stondynge; and he seide to hem, What stonden ye idel here al dai?
20:7Thei seien to him, For no man hath hirid vs. He seith to hem, Go ye also in to my vyneyerd.
20:8And whanne euenyng was comun, the lord of the vyneyerd seith to his procuratoure, Clepe the werk men, and yelde to hem her hire, and bigynne thou at the laste til to the firste.
20:9And so whanne thei weren comun, that camen aboute the elleuenthe our, also thei token eueryche of hem a peny.
20:10But the firste camen, and demeden, that thei schulden take more, but thei token ech oon bi hem silf a peny;
20:11and in the takyng grutchiden ayens the hosebonde man, and seiden,
20:12These laste wrouyten oon our, and thou hast maad hem euen to vs, that han born the charge of the dai, and heete?
20:13And he answeride to oon of hem, and seide, Freend, Y do thee noon wrong; whether thou hast not acordid with me for a peny?
20:14Take thou that that is thin, and go; for Y wole yyue to this laste man, as to thee.
20:15Whether it is not leueful to me to do that that Y wole? Whether thin iye is wickid, for Y am good?
20:16So the laste schulen be the firste, and the firste the laste; `for many ben clepid, but fewe ben chosun.
20:17And Jhesus wente vp to Jerusalem, and took hise twelue disciplis in priuetee, and seide to hem, Lo!
20:18we goon vp to Jerusalem, and mannus sone schal be bitakun to princis of prestis, and scribis; and thei schulen condempne him to deeth.
20:19And thei schulen bitake hym to hethene men, for to be scorned, and scourgid, and crucified; and the thridde day he schal rise ayen to lijf.
20:20Thanne the modir of the sones of Zebedee cam to hym with hir sones, onourynge, and axynge sum thing of hym.
20:21And he seide to hir, What wolt thou? She seith to hym, Seie that thes tweyne my sones sitte, oon at thi riythalf, and oon at thi lefthalf, in thi kyngdom.
20:22Jhesus answeride, and seide, Ye witen not what ye axen. Moun ye drynke the cuppe which Y schal drynke? Thei seien to hym, We moun.
20:23He seith to hem, Ye schulen drinke my cuppe; but to sitte at my riythalf or lefthalf, it is not myn to yyue to you; but to whiche it is maad redi of my fadir.
20:24And the ten herynge, hadden indignacioun of the twei britheren.
20:25But Jhesus clepide hem to hym, and seide, Ye witen, that princis of hethene men ben lordis of hem, and thei that ben gretter, vsen power on hem.
20:26It schal not be so among you; but who euer wole be maad gretter among you, be he youre mynystre;
20:27who euer among you wole be the firste, he schal be youre seruaunt.
20:28As mannus sone cam not to be seruyd, but to serue, and to yyue his lijf redempcioun for manye.
20:29And whanne thei yeden out of Jerico, miche puple suede him.
20:30And lo! twei blynde men saten bisydis the weie, and herden that Jhesus passide; and thei crieden, and seiden, Lord, the sone of Dauid, haue merci on vs.
20:31And the puple blamede hem, that thei schulden be stille; and thei crieden the more, and seiden, Lord, the sone of Dauid, haue merci on vs.
20:32And Jhesus stood, and clepide hem, and seide, What wolen ye, that Y do to you?
20:33Thei seien to him, Lord, that oure iyen be opened.
20:34And Jhesus hadde merci on hem, and touchide her iyen; and anoon thei sayen, and sueden him.

20:1For the kyngdome of heven ys lyke vnto an houssholder which went out erly in the morninge to hyre labourers into hys vyneyarde.
20:2And he agreed wt the labourers for a peny a daye and sent them into his vyneyarde.
20:3And he went out about the thyrde houre and sawe other stonding ydell in the marketplace
20:4and sayd vnto them go ye also into my vyneyarde: and whatsoever is right I will geve you. And they went there waye.
20:5Agayne he wet out about the sixte and nynthe houre and dyd lyke wyse.
20:6And he went out aboute the eleventhe houre and founde other stondynge ydell and sayde vnto them: Why stonde ye here all the daye ydell?
20:7They sayde vnto hym: because no man hath hyred vs. He sayde to them: goo ye alsoo into my vyneyarde and whatsoever is right that shall ye receave.
20:8When even was come the lorde of the vyneyarde sayde vnto hys steward: call the labourers and geve them their hyre beginnyng at ye laste tyll thou come to ye fyrste.
20:9And they whiche were hyred aboute the eleventhe houre came and receaved every man a peny.
20:10Then came ye fyrst supposyng yt they shuld receave moare: and they likewyse receaved every man a peny.
20:11And when they had receaved it they murmured agaynst the good man of the housse
20:12saying: These laste have wrought but one houre and thou hast made them equall vnto vs which have born ye burthe and heet of the daye.
20:13He answered to one of the sayinge: frende I do the no wronge: dyddest thou not agre wt me for a peny?
20:14Take that which is thy duty and go thy waye. I will geve vnto this last as moche as to the.
20:15Ys it not lawfull for me to do as me listeth with myne awne? Ys thyne eye evyll because I am good?
20:16Soo the laste shalbe fyrste and the fyrste shalbe laste. For many are called and feawe be chosen.
20:17And Iesus ascended to Ierusalem and toke the .xii. disciples a parte in the waye and sayde to the.
20:18Beholde we goo vp to Ierusalem and the sonne of ma shalbe betrayed vnto ye chefe prestes and vnto the scribes and they shall condene him to deeth
20:19and shall delyvre him to the getils to be mocked to be scourged and to be crucified: and ye thyrd daye he shall ryse agayne.
20:20Then came to hym the mother of zebedes chyldren with her sonnes worshippynge him and desyringe a certayne thinge of him.
20:21And he sayd vnto her: what wilt thou have? She sayde vnto him: Gravnte that these my two sonnes may sit ye one on thy right hond and the other on ye lifte hond in thy kyngdome.
20:22Iesus answered and sayd: Ye wot not what ye axe. Are ye able to drynke of the cuppe yt I shall drynke of and to be baptised wt the baptyme that I shalbe baptised with? They answered to him that we are.
20:23And he sayd vnto the: Ye shall drinke of my cvp and shalbe baptised with the baptyme that I shalbe baptised with. But to syt on my ryght hond and on my lyst hond is not myne to geve: but to them for whom it is prepared of my father.
20:24And when the ten hearde this they disdayned at ye two brethre:
20:25But Iesus called them vnto him and sayde: Ye knowe yt the lordes of the gentyls have dominacio over them. And they that are great exercise power over the.
20:26It shall not be so amoge you. But whosoever wyll be greate amoge you let him be youre minister:
20:27and whosoever wil be chefe let him be youre servaut
20:28eve as the sonne of man came not to be ministred vnto but to minister and to geve his lyfe for the redempcion of many.
20:29And as they departed fro Hierico moche people folowed him.
20:30And beholde two blinde men sittinge by ye waysyde whe they hearde Iesus passe by cryed sayinge: Thou Lorde ye sonne of David have mercy on vs.
20:31And ye people rebuked them be cause they shulde holde their peace. But they cryed ye moare sayinge: have mercy on vs thou Lorde which arte ye sonne of David.
20:32Then Iesus stode styll and called the and sayde: what will ye that I shulde do to you:
20:33They sayd to him: Lorde that oure eyes maye be opened.
20:34Iesus had copassion on the and touched their eyes. And immediatly their eyes receaved syght. And they folowed him.

20:1The kyngdome of heauen is like vnto an housholder, which wete out early in the mornynge, to hyre labourers in to his vyniarde.
20:2And wha he had agreed with the labourers for a peny a daye, he sent the in to his vynyarde.
20:3And aboute ye thirde houre he wente out, and sawe other stondinge ydle in the market place,
20:4and sayde vnto them: Go ye also in to my vynyarde, & what so euer is right, I wil geue it you. And they wete their waye.
20:5Agayne, he wete out aboute the sixte and nyenth houre, and dyd likewyse,
20:6And aboute the eleuenth houre he wete out, and founde other stodynge ydle, and sayde vnto them: Why stonde ye here all the daye ydle?
20:7They sayde vnto him: because no man hath hyred us. He saide vnto the: Go ye also in to my vinyarde, and loke what is right, ye shal haue it.
20:8Now whan euen was come, the lorde of the vynyarde sayde vnto his stewarde: Call the labourers, and geue them their hyre, begynnynge from the last vnto ye first.
20:9Then they that were hyred aboute the eleuenth houre, came and receaued euery man a peny.
20:10But whan the first came, they supposed that they shulde receaue more: and they also receaued euery man a peny.
20:11And whan they had receaued it, they murmured agaynst the housholder,
20:12and sayde: These last haue wrought but one houre, and thou hast made the equall vnto us, which haue borne the burthen and heate of the daye.
20:13He answered and sayde vnto one of them: frende, I do ye no wronge: diddest not thou agree with me for a peny?
20:14Take that thine is, and go thy waye. I wil geue vnto this last also, like as vnto the.
20:15Or haue I not power, to do as me listeth with myne owne? Is thine eye euell, because I am good?
20:16So the last shalbe the first, & the first the last. For many are called, but few are chosen.
20:17And Iesus wente vp to Ierusalem, and toke the twolue disciples asyde in the waye, and sayde vnto them:
20:18Beholde, we go vp to Ierusalem, and the sonne of man shalbe delyuered vnto the hye prestes and scribes: & they shal condemne him to death,
20:19and shal delyuer him vnto ye Heithen, to be mocked to be scourged, and to be crucified. And the thirde daye he shal ryse agayne.
20:20Then came vnto him the mother of Zebedes childre with hir sonnes, fell downe before him, and desyred a certayne thinge of hi.
20:21And he saide vnto her: What wilt thou? She sayde vnto him: Let these two sonnes of myne syt in thy kyngdome: the one vpon thy right honde, & the other vpon thy left honde.
20:22But Iesus answered, and sayde: Ye wote not what ye axe. Maye ye drynke the cuppe, that I shal drynke? & to be baptised with the baptyme, that I shalbe baptysed withall?
20:23They sayde vnto him: Yee that we maye. And he sayde vnto them: My cuppe truly shal ye drynke, & with the baptyme yt I shal be baptysed withall, shal ye be baptysed: Neuertheles to syt vpon my right honde & on my left, is not myne to geue, but vnto the
20:24Whan the ten herde that, they disdayned at the two brethren.
20:25But Iesus called them vnto him, and sayde: Ye knowe that ye prynces of the worlde haue domynacion of the people, and the greatest exercise power amonge the.
20:26It shal not be so amonge you. But whoso euer wyl be greate amonge you, let him be youre mynister:
20:27& who soeuer wyl be chefe, let him be youre seruaunt:
20:28Euen as the sonne of man came, not to be serued, but to do seruyce, and to geue his life to a redepcion for many.
20:29And when they departed from Iericho, moch people folowed him:
20:30and beholde, two blyndemen sat by the waye syde: And when they herde that Iesus passed by, they cried & sayde. O LORDE, thou sonne Dauid, haue mercy vpon vs.
20:31But ye people rebuked the, that they shulde holde their peace. Neuertheles they cried the more, & sayde: O LORDE, thou sonne of Dauid, haue mercy vpon vs.
20:32And Iesus stode styll, and called them, and sayde: What wil ye, yt I shal do vnto you?
20:33They sayde vnto him: LORDE, that oure eyes maye be opened.
20:34And Iesus had compassion vpon them, and touched their eyes: & immediatly their eies receaued sight. And they folowed him.
