Matthew - Chapter: 21

>
21:1And when they drewe nigh vnto Hierusalem, and were come to Bethphage, vnto the mount of Oliues, then sent Iesus two Disciples,
21:2Saying vnto them, Goe into the village ouer against you, and straightway yee shall find an Asse tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them vnto me.
21:3And if any man say ought vnto you, yee shall say, The Lord hath need of them, and straightway hee will send them.
21:4All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophet, saying,
21:5Tell yee the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy king commeth vnto thee, meeke, and sitting vpon an Asse, and a colt, the foale of an Asse.
21:6And the Disciples went, and did as Iesus commanded them,
21:7And brought the Asse, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
21:8And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way, others cut downe branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
21:9And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the sonne of Dauid: Blessed is he that commeth in the Name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
21:10And when hee was come into Hierusalem, all the citie was mooued, saying, Who is this?
21:11And the multitude said, This is Iesus the Prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
21:12And Iesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the Temple, and ouerthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that solde doues,
21:13And said vnto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer, but yee haue made it a denne of theeues.
21:14And the blind and the lame came to him in the Temple, & he healed them.
21:15And when the chiefe Priests and Scribes saw the wonderfull things that he did, & the children crying in the temple, & saying, Hosanna to the sonne of Dauid, they were sore displeased,
21:16And said vnto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Iesus saith vnto them, Yea, haue yee neuer read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
21:17And he left them, and went out of the citie into Bethany, and he lodged there.
21:18Now in the morning, as hee returned into the citie, he hungred.
21:19And when he saw a figge tree in the way, hee came to it, and found nothing thereon but leaues only, and said vnto it, Let no fruite growe on thee hence forward for euer. And presently the figge tree withered away.
21:20And when the Disciples saw it, they marueiled, saying, How soone is the figge tree withered away?
21:21Iesus answered, and said vnto them, Uerily I say vnto you, if yee haue faith, and doubt not, yee shall not onely doe this which is done to the figge tree, but also, if ye shall say vnto this mountaine, Be thou remoued, and be thou cast into the Sea, it shall be done.
21:22And all things whatsoeuer yee shall aske in prayer, beleeuing, ye shall receiue.
21:23And when he was come into the temple, the chiefe Priests and the Elders of the people came vnto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authoritie doest thou these things? and who gaue thee this authoritie?
21:24And Iesus answered, and said vnto them, I also will aske you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:25The baptisme of Iohn, whence was it? from heauen, or of men? and they reasoned with themselues saying, If we shall say, From heauen, hee will say vnto vs, Why did ye not then beleeue him?
21:26But if we shall say, Of men, we feare the people, for all hold Iohn as a Prophet.
21:27And they answered Iesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said vnto them, Neither tell I you by what authoritie I doe these things.
21:28But what thinke you? A certaine man had two sonnes, and he came to the first, and said, Sonne, goe worke to day in my vineyard.
21:29He answered, & said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
21:30And hee came to the second, and said likewise: and hee answered, and said, I goe sir, and went not.
21:31Whether of them twaine did the will of his father? They say vnto him, The first. Iesus saith vnto them, Uerely I say vnto you, that the Publicanes and the harlots go into the kingdome of God before you.
21:32For Iohn came vnto you in the way of righteousnesse, and ye beleeued him not: but the Publicanes and the harlots beleeued him. And ye when ye had seene it, repented not afterward, that ye might beleeue him.
21:33Heare another parable. There was a certaine house-holder, which planted a Uineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a wine-presse in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a farre countrey.
21:34And when the time of the fruite drew neere, he sent his seruants to the husbandmen, that they might receiue the fruits of it.
21:35And the husbandmen tooke his seruants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
21:36Againe hee sent other seruants, moe then the first, and they did vnto them likewise.
21:37But last of all, he sent vnto them his sonne, saying, They will reuerence my sonne.
21:38But when the husbandmen saw the sonne, they said among themselues, This is the heire, come, let vs kill him, and let vs sease on his inheritance.
21:39And they caught him, and cast him out of the Uineyard, and slew him.
21:40When the Lord therefore of the Uineyard commeth, what will he doe vnto those husbandmen?
21:41They say vnto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his Uineyard vnto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
21:42Iesus saith vnto them, Did ye neuer reade in the Scriptures, The stone which the builders reiected, the same is become the head of the corner? This is the Lords doing, and it is marueilous in our eyes.
21:43Therefore say I vnto you, the kingdome of God shall be taken from you, and giuen to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
21:44And whosoeuer shall fall on this stone, shalbe broken: but on whom soeuer it shall fall, it will grinde him to powder.
21:45And when the chiefe Priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceiued that he spake of them.
21:46But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they tooke him for a Prophet.

21:1Now whan they drew nye vnto Ierusalem, and were come to Bethphage vnto mount Oliuete, Iesus sent two of his disciples,
21:2and sayde vnto them: Go in to the towne that lyeth before you, & anone ye shal fynde an Asse bounde, and hir foale with her: lowse them, and brynge the vnto me.
21:3And yf eny man saye ought vnto you, saye ye: the LORDE hath nede of the, And straight waye he wil let them go.
21:4But all this was done, that the thinge might be fulfylled, which was spoken by the prophet, sayenge:
21:5Tell the doughter of Sion: beholde, thy kynge commeth vnto ye meke, syttinge vpon an Asse and a foale of ye Asse vsed to the yocke.
21:6The disciples wente, and dyd as Iesus commaunded them,
21:7and brought the Asse and the foale, & layed their clothes vpon them, and set him theron.
21:8But many of the people spred their garmentes in the waye: other cut downe braunches from the trees, and strawed them in the waye.
21:9As for the people that wente before and that came after, they cryed and sayde: Hosianna vnto the sonne of Dauid, Blessed be he that commeth in the name of the LORDE, Hosianna in the height.
21:10And whan he was come in to Ierusalem, all the cite was moued, and sayde: Who is this?
21:11And the people sayde: This is Iesus ye prophet of Nazareth out of Galile.
21:12And Iesus wente in to the teple of God, and cast out all them that bought and solde in the teple, and ouerthrew the tables of the money chaungers, and the seates of them that solde doues,
21:13and sayde vnto them: It is wrytte: My house shalbe called ye house of prayer, but ye haue made it a denne of murthurers.
21:14The blynde also and ye lame came vnto him in the temple, and he healed them.
21:15But whan the hye prestes and the scrybes sawe the wonders that he dyd, and the children crienge in the temple and sayenge: Hosianna vnto the sonne of Dauid, they disdayned,
21:16and sayde vnto him: Hearest thou what these saye? Iesus sayde vnto them: Yee. Haue ye neuer red: Out of the mouth of very babes and sucklinges thou hast ordeyned prayse?
21:17And he left them there, and wente out of the cite vnto Bethania, and there abode ouer night.
21:18But in the mornynge as he returned in to the cite, he hugred.
21:19And in the waye he sawe a fygge tre, and came vnto it, and founde nothinge theron, but leaues onely, and sayde vnto it: Neuer frute growe on the from hence forth. And immediatly the fygge tre wythred awaye.
21:20And whan his disciples sawe that, they marueyled, and sayde. How is ye fygge tre wythred awaye so soone?
21:21Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: Verely I saye vnto you: Yf ye haue faith & doute not, ye shal not onely do this with the fygge tre, but yf ye shal saye vnto this mountayne: Avoyde, and cast thy self in to the see, it shal be done.
21:22And what soeuer ye axe in prayer, yf ye beleue, ye shal receaue it.
21:23And when he was come in to the teple, the chefe prestes and the elders of the people came vnto him (as he was teachinge) & sayde: By what auctorite doest thou these thinges? and who gaue the this auctorite?
21:24Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: I wil axe a worde of you also: which yf ye tell me, I in like wyse wyl tell you, by what auctorite I do these thinges.
21:25The baptime of Iho, whece was it? from heaue, or of men? Then thought they amoge them selues, and saide: Yf we saye it was from heaue, then shal he saye vnto us: Why dyd ye not then beleue him?
21:26But yf we saye it was of men, the feare we the people: For euery ma helde Ihon for a prophet.
21:27And they answered Iesus, & sayde: We can not tell. Then sayde he vnto them: Nether tell I you, by what auctorite I do these thinges.
21:28But what thinke ye? A certayne man had two sonnes, and came to the first, and sayde: Go thy waye my sonne, & worke to daye in my vynyarde.
21:29He answered and sayde: I wil not, but afterwarde he repented, and wente.
21:30He came also vnto the secode, and sayde likewyse. And he answered and saide: I wil syr. And wete not.
21:31Whether of them twayne dyd the wil of the father? They sayde vnto him: the first. Iesus sayde vnto the: Verely I saye vnto you: The publicans and harlottes shal come in to the kyngdome of God before you.
21:32For Ihon came vnto you, and taught you ye right waye and ye beleued him not: but the publicans & harlottes beleued hi. As for you, though ye sawe it, yet were ye not moued with repetaunce, that ye might afterwarde haue beleued him.
21:33Heare another parable. There was a certayne houssholder which planted a vynyarde, and hedged it roude aboute, and dygged a wyne presse in it, and built a tower, and let it out vnto hussbandmen, and wente in to a straunge countre.
21:34Now wha the tyme of the frute drew neare, he sent his seruautes to the hussbandmen, to receaue the frutes of it.
21:35Then the hussbandmen caught his seruauntes: one they bett, another they kylled, the thirde they stoned.
21:36Agayne, he sent other seruauntes, moo then the first, and they dyd vnto them in like maner.
21:37At the last he sent his owne sonne vnto them, and sayde: they wyl stode in awe of my sonne.
21:38But whe the hussbandme sawe the sonne, they sayde amonge the selues: This is the Heyre, come, let us kyl hym, and take his inheritauce vnto oure selues.
21:39And they caught him, and thrust him out of the vynyarde, & slew him.
21:40Now whe the lorde of the vynyarde commeth, what wyl he do wt those hussbandmen?
21:41They sayde vnto him: He wyl cruelly destroye those euell personnes, & let out his vyniarde vnto other hussbadmen, which shal delyuer him the frute at tymes conuenyent.
21:42Iesus sayde vnto the: Dyd ye neuer rede in the scriptures: The same stone which the buylders refused, is become the heade stone in the corner? This was the LORDES doynge, & it is maruelous i oure eyes
21:43Therfore I saie vnto you: The kingdome of God shalbe take fro you, & shalbe geue vnto the Heithe, which shal brynge forth ye frutes of it.
21:44And who so falleth vpo this stone, shalbe broke in peces: & loke vpo whom it falleth, it shal grynde him to poulder.
21:45And when the hye prestes & Pharises herde his parables, they perceaued, that he spake of them.
21:46And they wente aboute to take him, but they feared ye people, because they helde hi for a prophet.

21:1And whanne Jhesus cam nyy to Jerusalem, and cam to Bethfage, at the mount of Olyuete, thanne sente he his twei disciplis, and seide to hem,
21:2Go ye in to the castel that is ayens you, and anoon ye schulen fynde an asse tied, and a colt with hir; vntien ye, and brynge to me.
21:3And if ony man seie to you ony thing, seie ye, that the Lord hath nede to hem; and anoon he schal leeue hem.
21:4Al this was doon, that that thing schulde be fulfillid, that was seid bi the prophete, seiynge, Seie ye to the douyter of Syon, Lo!
21:5thi kyng cometh to thee, meke, sittynge on an asse, and a fole of an asse vnder yok.
21:6And the disciplis yeden, and diden as Jhesus comaundide hem.
21:7And thei brouyten an asse, and the fole, and leiden her clothis on hem, and maden hym sitte aboue.
21:8And ful myche puple strewiden her clothis in the weie; othere kittiden braunchis of trees, and strewiden in the weie.
21:9And the puple that wente bifore, and that sueden, crieden, and seiden, Osanna to the sone of Dauid; blessid is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Osanna in hiy thingis.
21:10And whanne he was entrid in to Jerusalem, al the citee was stirid, and seide, Who is this?
21:11But the puple seide, This is Jhesus, the prophete, of Nazareth of Galilee.
21:12And Jhesus entride in to the temple of God, and castide out of the temple alle that bouyten and solden; and he turnede vpsedoun the bordis of chaungeris, and the chayeris of men that solden culueris.
21:13And he seith to hem, It is writun, Myn hous schal be clepid an hous of preier; but ye han maad it a denne of theues.
21:14And blynde and crokid camen to hym in the temple, and he heelide hem.
21:15But the princis of prestis and scribis, seynge the merueilouse thingis that he dide, and children criynge in the temple, and seiynge, Osanna to the sone of Dauid, hadden indignacioun,
21:16and seiden to hym, Herist thou what these seien? And Jhesus seide to hem, Yhe; whether ye han neuer redde, That of the mouth of yonge children, and of soukynge childryn, thou hast maad perfit heriyng?
21:17And whanne he hadde left hem, he wente forth out of the citee, in to Bethanye; and there he dwelte, and tauyte hem of the kyngdom of God.
21:18But on the morowe, he, turnynge ayen in to the citee, hungride.
21:19And he saye a fige tree bisidis the weie, and cam to it, and foond no thing ther ynne but leeues oneli. And he seide to it, Neuer fruyt come forth of thee, in to with outen eende, And anoon the fige tre was dried vp.
21:20And disciplis `sawen, and wondriden, seiynge, Hou anoon it driede.
21:21And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, Treuli Y seie to you, if ye haue feith, and douten not, not oonli ye schulen do of the fige tree, but also if ye seyn to this hil, Take, and caste thee in to the see, it schal be don so.
21:22And alle thingis what euere ye bileuynge schulen axe in preyer, ye schulen take.
21:23And whanne he cam in to the temple, the princis of prestis and elder men of the puple camen to hym that tauyte, and seiden, In what power doist thou these thingis? and who yaf thee this power?
21:24Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, And Y schal axe you o word, the which if ye tellen me, Y schal seie to you, in what power Y do these thingis.
21:25Of whennys was the baptym of Joon; of heuene, or of men? And thei thouyten with ynne hem silf,
21:26seiynge, If we seien of heuene, he schal seie to vs, Whi thanne bileuen ye not to hym? If we seien of men, we dreden the puple, for alle hadden Joon as a prophete.
21:27And thei answeriden to Jhesu, and seiden, We witen not. And he seide to hem, Nether Y seie to you, in what power Y do these thingis.
21:28But what semeth to you? A man hadde twey sones; and he cam to the firste, and seide, Sone, go worche this dai in my vyneyerd.
21:29And he answeride, and seide, Y nyle; but afterward he forthouyte, and wente forth.
21:30But he cam to `the tother, and seide on lijk maner. And he answeride, and seide, Lord, Y go; and he wente not.
21:31Who of the tweyne dide the fadris wille? Thei seien to hym, The firste. Jhesus seith to hem, Treuli Y seie to you, for pupplicans and hooris schulen go bifor you `in to the kyngdom of God.
21:32For Joon cam to you in the weie of riytwisnesse, and ye bileueden not to him; but pupplicans and hooris bileueden to hym. But ye sayn, and hadden no forthenkyng aftir, that ye bileueden to hym.
21:33Here ye another parable. There was an hosebonde man, that plauntide a vynyerd, and heggide it aboute, and dalfe a presour ther ynne, and bildide a tour, and hiride it to erthe tilieris, and wente fer in pilgrimage.
21:34But whanne the tyme of fruytis neiyede, he sente his seruauntis to the erthe tilieris, to take fruytis of it.
21:35And the erthetilieris token his seruauntis, and beeten `the toon, thei slowen another, and thei stonyden another.
21:36Eftsoone he sente othere seruauntis, mo than the firste, and in lijk maner thei diden to hem.
21:37And at the laste he sente his sone to hem, and seide, Thei schulen drede my sone.
21:38But the erthe tilieris, seynge the sone, seiden with ynne hem silf, This is the eire; come ye, sle we hym, and we schulen haue his eritage.
21:39And thei token, and castiden hym out of the vynyerd, and slowen hym.
21:40Therfor whanne the lord of the vyneyerd schal come, what schal he do to thilke erthe tilieris?
21:41Thei seien to hym, He schal leese yuele the yuele men, and he schal sette to hire his vyneyerd to othere erthetilieris, whyche schulen yelde to hym fruyt in her tymes.
21:42Jhesus seith to hem, Redden ye neuer in scripturis, The stoon which bilderis repreueden, this is maad in to the heed of the corner? Of the Lord this thing is don, and it is merueilous bifor oure iyen.
21:43Therfor Y seie to you, that the kyngdom of God schal be takun fro you, and shal be youun to a folc doynge fruytis of it.
21:44And he that schal falle on this stoon, schal be brokun; but on whom it schal falle, it schal al tobrise hym.
21:45And whanne the princes of prestis and Farisees hadden herd hise parablis, thei knewen that he seide of hem.
21:46And thei souyten to holde hym, but thei dredden the puple, for thei hadden hym as a prophete.
