26:1	And it came to passe, when Iesus had finished al these sayings, hee said vnto his disciples,
26:2	Ye know that after two dayes is the feast of the Passeouer, and the Sonne of man is betrayed to be crucified.
26:3	Then assembled together the chiefe Priests, and the Scribes, and the Elders of the people, vnto the palace of the high Priest, who was called Caiaphas,
26:4	And consulted that they might take Iesus by subtiltie, and kill him.
26:5	But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there bee an vproare among the people.
26:6	Now when Iesus was in Bethanie, in the house of Simon the leper,
26:7	There came vnto him a woman, hauing an alabaster boxe of very precious ointment, and powred it on his head, as he sate at meat.
26:8	But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?
26:9	For this ointment might haue bin sold for much, and giuen to the poore.
26:10	When Iesus vnderstood it, he said vnto them, Why trouble ye the woman? For she hath wrought a good worke vpon me.
26:11	For ye haue the poore alwayes with you, but me ye haue not alwayes.
26:12	For in that she hath powred this ointment on my body, shee did it for my buriall.
26:13	Uerely I say vnto you, Wheresoeuer this Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memoriall of her.
26:14	Then one of the twelue, called Iudas Iscariot, went vnto the chiefe Priests,
26:15	And said vnto them, What will ye giue me, and I will deliuer him vnto you? And they couenanted with him for thirtie pieces of siluer.
26:16	And from that time he sought opportunitie to betray him.
26:17	Now the first day of the feast of vnleauened bread, the disciples came to Iesus, saying vnto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the Passeouer?
26:18	And he said, Goe into the citie to such a man, and say vnto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand, I will keepe the Passeouer at thy house with my disciples.
26:19	And the disciples did, as Iesus had appointed them, and they made ready the Passeouer.
26:20	Now when the euen was come, he sate downe with the twelue.
26:21	And as they did eate, he said, Uerely I say vnto you, that one of you shal betray me.
26:22	And they were exceeding sorowfull, and began euery one of them to say vnto him, Lord, Is it I?
26:23	And he answered and said, Hee that dippeth his hand with mee in the dish, the same shall betray me.
26:24	The sonne of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe vnto that man by whom the sonne of man is betrayed: It had bin good for that man, if hee had not bene borne.
26:25	Then Iudas, which betrayed him, answered, and said, Master, Is it I? He said vnto him, Thou hast said.
26:26	And as they were eating, Iesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gaue it to the Disciples, and said, Take, eate, this is my body.
26:27	And he tooke the cup, and gaue thankes, and gaue it to them, saying, Drinke ye all of it:
26:28	For this is my blood of the new Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sinnes.
26:29	But I say vnto you, I will not drinke henceforth of this fruite of the vine, vntill that day when I drinke it new with you in my fathers kingdom.
26:30	And when they had sung an hymne, they went out into the mount of Oliues.
26:31	Then saith Iesus vnto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night, For it is written, I will smite the Shepheard, and the sheepe of the flocke shall be scattered abroad.
26:32	But after I am risen againe, I will goe before you into Galilee.
26:33	Peter answered, and said vnto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I neuer be offended.
26:34	Iesus said vnto him, Uerily I say vnto thee, that this might before the cocke crow, thou shalt denie me thrise.
26:35	Peter said vnto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not denie thee. Likewise also said all the Disciples.
26:36	Then commeth Iesus with them vnto a place called Gethsemane, and saith vnto the Disciples, Sit yee heere, while I goe and pray yonder.
26:37	And hee tooke with him Peter, and the two sonnes of Zebedee, and beganne to be sorrowful, and very heauie.
26:38	Then saith he vnto them, My soule is exceeding sorrowfull, euen vnto death: tary ye heere, & watch with me.
26:39	And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my father, if it be possible, let this cup passe from me: neuerthelesse, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
26:40	And he commeth vnto the Disciples, and findeth them asleepe, and saith vnto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one houre?
26:41	Watch and pray, that yee enter not into temptation: The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weake.
26:42	He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my father, if this cup may not passe away from me, except I drinke it, thy will be done.
26:43	And he came and found them asleep againe: For their eies were heauie.
26:44	And he left them, and went away againe, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
26:45	Then commeth he to his Disciples, and saith vnto them, Sleepe on now, and take your rest, behold, the houre is at hand, and the sonne of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
26:46	Rise, let vs be going: behold, he is at hand that doeth betray me.
26:47	And while yet spake, loe, Iudas one of the twelue came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staues from the chiefe Priests and Elders of the people.
26:48	Now he that betrayed him, gaue them a signe, saying, Whomsoeuer I shall kisse, that same is he, hold him fast.
26:49	And forthwith hee came to Iesus, and said, Haile master, and kissed him.
26:50	And Iesus said vnto him, Friend, Wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laid handes on Iesus, and tooke him.
26:51	And behold, one of them which were with Iesus, stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and stroke a seruant of the high Priests, and smote off his eare.
26:52	Then said Iesus vnto him, Put vp againe thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword, shall perish with the sword.
26:53	Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my father, and he shall presently giue me more then twelue legions of Angels?
26:54	But how then shall the Scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
26:55	In that same houre said Iesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thiefe with swords and staues for to take mee? I sate daily with you teaching in the Temple, and ye laide no hold on me.
26:56	But all this was done, that the Scriptures of the Prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the Disciples forsooke him, and fled:
26:57	And they that had laid hold on Iesus, led him away to Caiaphas the high Priest, where the Scribes and the Elders were assembled.
26:58	But Peter followed him afarre off, vnto the high Priests palace, and went in, and sate with the seruants to see the end.
26:59	Now the chiefe Priests and Elders, and all the councell, sought false witnesse against Iesus to put him to death,
26:60	But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
26:61	And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the Temple of God, and to build it in three dayes.
26:62	And the high Priest arose, and said vnto him, Answerest thou nothing? What is it, which these witnesse against thee?
26:63	But Iesus held his peace. And the high Priest answered, and said vnto him, I adiure thee by the liuing God, that thou tell vs, whether thou bee the Christ the Sonne of God.
26:64	Iesus saith vnto him, Thou hast saide: Neuerthelesse I say vnto you, Hereafter shall yee see the Sonne of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heauen.
26:65	Then the high Priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemie: what further need haue wee of witnesses? Behold, now ye haue heard his blasphemie.
26:66	What thinke ye? They answered and said, He is guiltie of death.
26:67	Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him, and others smote him with the palmes of their hands,
26:68	Saying, Prophecie vnto vs, thou Christ, who is he that smote thee?
26:69	Now Peter sate without in the palace: and a damosell came vnto him, saying, Thou also wast with Iesus of Galilee.
26:70	But hee denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou saiest.
26:71	And when he was gone out into the porch, another maide saw him, and saide vnto them that were there, This fellow was also with Iesus of Nazareth.
26:72	And againe hee denied with an oath, I doe not know the man.
26:73	And after a while came vnto him they that stood by, and saide to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them, for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
26:74	Then beganne hee to curse and to sweare, saying, I know not the man. And immediatly the cocke crew.
26:75	And Peter remembred the words of Iesus, which said vnto him, Before the cocke crow, thou shalt denie mee thrice. And hee went out, and wept bitterly.

26:3	Then assembled together the chiefe Priests, and the Scribes, and the Elders of ye people into the hall of the high Priest called Caiaphas:
26:4	And consulted together that they might take Iesus by subtiltie, and kill him.
26:5	But they sayd, Not on the feast day, least any vprore be among the people.
26:6	And when Iesus was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper,
26:7	There came vnto him a woman, which had a boxe of very costly oyntment, and powred it on his head, as he sate at the table.
26:8	And when his disciples sawe it, they had indignation, saying, What needed this waste?
26:9	For this oyntment might haue bene solde for much, and bene giuen to the poore.
26:10	And Iesus knowing it, sayde vnto them, Why trouble yee the woman? for shee hath wrought a good woorke vpon me.
26:11	For yee haue the poore alwayes with you, but me shall yee not haue alwaies.
26:12	For in that shee powred this oyntment on my bodie, shee did it to burie me.
26:13	Verely I say vnto you, wheresoeuer this Gospel shall bee preached throughout all the worlde, there shall also this that shee hath done, be spoken of for a memoriall of her.
26:14	Then one of the twelue, called Iudas Iscariot, went vnto the chiefe Priestes,
26:15	And said, What will ye giue me, and I will deliuer him vnto you? and they appoynted vnto him thirtie pieces of siluer.
26:16	And from that time, he sought opportunitie to betraie him.
26:17	Nowe on the first day of the feast of vnleauened bread the disciples came to Iesus, saying vnto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eate the Passeouer?
26:18	And he said, Goe yee into the citie to such a man, and say to him, The master saieth, My time is at hande: I will keepe the Passeouer at thine house with my disciples.
26:19	And the disciples did as Iesus had giuen them charge, and made readie the Passeouer.
26:20	So when the Euen was come, hee sate downe with the twelue.
26:21	And as they did eate, he sayde, Verely I say vnto you, that one of you shall betraie me.
26:22	And they were exceeding sorowfull, and began euery one of them to say vnto him, Is it I, Master?
26:23	And hee answered and sayde, Hee that dippeth his hande with me in the dish, hee shall betraie me.
26:24	Surely the Sonne of man goeth his way, as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the Sonne of man is betrayed: it had bene good for that man, if hee had neuer bene borne.
26:25	Then Iudas which betraied him, answered and sayde, Is it I, Master? He sayde vnto him, Thou hast sayd it.
26:26	And as they did eate, Iesus tooke the bread, and when he had blessed, he brake it, and gaue it to the disciples, and sayd, Take, eate: this is my bodie.
26:27	Also he tooke the cuppe, and when he had giuen thankes, he gaue it them, saying, Drinke ye all of it.
26:28	For this is my blood of the Newe Testament, that is shedde for many, for the remission of sinnes.
26:29	I say vnto you, that I will not drinke henceforth of this fruit of the vine vntil that day, when I shall drinke it new with you in my Fathers kingdome.
26:30	And when they had sung a Psalme, they went out into the mount of Oliues.
26:31	Then saide Iesus vnto them, All yee shall be offended by me this night: for it is written, I wil smite the shepheard, and the sheepe of the flocke shalbe scattered.
26:32	But after I am risen againe, I will go before you into Galile.
26:33	But Peter aunswered, and sayde vnto him, Though that al men should be offended by thee, yet will I neuer be offended.
26:34	Iesus sayde vnto him, Verely I say vnto thee, that this night, before the cocke crow, thou shalt denie me thrise.
26:35	Peter saide vnto him, Though I should die with thee, I will in no case denie thee. Likewise also sayd all the disciples.
26:36	Then went Iesus with them into a place which is called Gethsemane, and said vnto his disciples, Sit ye here, while I goe, and pray yonder.
26:37	And hee tooke vnto him Peter, and the two sonnes of Zebedeus, and began to waxe sorowfull, and grieuously troubled.
26:38	Then sayde Iesus vnto them, My soule is very heauie, euen vnto the death: tarie yee here, and watch with me.
26:39	So hee went a litle further, and fell on his face, and praied, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup passe from me: neuerthelesse, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
26:40	After, hee came vnto the disciples, and founde them a sleepe, and sayde to Peter, What? coulde yee not watch with me one houre?
26:41	Watch, and praie, that yee enter not into tentation: the spirit in deede is readie, but the flesh is weake.
26:42	Againe he went away the second time, and praied, saying, O my Father, if this cuppe can not passe away from mee, but that I must drinke it, thy will be done.
26:43	And he came, and founde them a sleepe againe, for their eyes were heauie.
26:44	So he left them and went away againe, and praied the third time, saying the same woordes.
26:45	Then came he to his disciples, and said vnto them, Sleepe henceforth, and take your rest: behold, the houre is at hand, and the Sonne of man is giuen into the hands of sinners.
26:46	Rise, let vs goe: beholde, hee is at hande that betraieth me.
26:47	And while hee yet spake, loe Iudas, one of the twelue, came, and with him a great multitude with swordes and staues, from the high Priests and Elders of the people.
26:48	Now he that betraied him, had giuen them a token, saying, Whomesoeuer I shall kisse, that is he, laie holde on him.
26:49	And forthwith he came to Iesus, and sayd, God saue thee, Master, and kissed him.
26:50	Then Iesus sayde vnto him, Friende, wherefore art thou come? Then came they, and laide hands on Iesus, and tooke him.
26:51	And behold, one of them which were with Iesus, stretched out his hand, and drewe his sworde, and strooke a seruaunt of the high Priest, and smote off his eare.
26:52	Then sayde Iesus vnto him, Put vp thy sworde into his place: for all that take the sworde, shall perish with the sworde.
26:53	Either thinkest thou, that I can not now pray to my Father, and he will giue me moe then twelue legions of Angels?
26:54	Howe then shoulde the Scriptures bee fulfilled, which say, that it must be so?
26:55	The same houre sayde Iesus to the multitude, Ye be come out as it were against a thiefe, with swordes and staues to take mee: I sate daily teaching in the Temple among you, and yee tooke me not.
26:56	But all this was done, that the Scriptures of the Prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsooke him, and fled.
26:57	And they tooke Iesus, and led him to Caiaphas the hie Priest, where the Scribes and the Elders were assembled.
26:58	And Peter followed him a farre off vnto the hie Priestes hall, and went in, and sate with the seruants to see the ende.
26:59	Nowe the chiefe Priestes and the Elders, and all the whole councill sought false witnesse against Iesus, to put him to death.
26:60	But they founde none, and though many false witnesses came, yet founde they none: but at the last came two false witnesses,
26:61	And saide, This man saide, I can destroie the Temple of God, and build it in three daies.
26:62	Then the chiefe Priest arose, and sayde to him, Answerest thou nothing? What is the matter that these men witnesse against thee?
26:63	But Iesus helde his peace. Then the chiefe Priest answered, and saide to him, I charge thee sweare vnto vs by the liuing God, to tell vs, If thou be that Christ the Sonne of God, or no.
26:64	Iesus saide to him, Thou hast saide it: neuerthelesse I say vnto you, hereafter shall ye see the Sonne of man, sitting at the right hande of the power of God, and come in the cloudes of the heauen.
26:65	Then the hie Priest rent his clothes, saying, Hee hath blasphemed, what haue wee any more neede of witnesses? beholde: nowe yee haue heard his blasphemie.
26:66	What thinke yee? They answered, and said, He is guiltie of death.
26:67	Then spet they in his face, and buffeted him, and other smote him with roddes,
26:68	Saying, Prophecie to vs, O Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
26:69	Peter sate without in the hall, and a maide came to him, saying, Thou also wast with Iesus of Galile:

26:71	And when hee went out into the porche, another maide sawe him, and sayde vnto them that were there, This man was also with Iesus of Nazareth.
26:72	And againe he denied with an othe, saying, I knowe not the man.
26:73	So after a while, came vnto him they that stoode by, and sayde vnto Peter, Surely thou art also one of them: for euen thy speache bewraieth thee.
26:74	Then began hee to curse himselfe, and to sweare, saying, I knowe not the man. And immediately the cocke crewe.
26:75	Then Peter remembred the wordes of Iesus, which had sayde vnto him, Before the cocke crowe thou shalt denie me thrise. So he went out, and wept bitterly.

26:2	ye knowe that after two dayes shalbe Easter, and the sonne of man shalbe delyuered ouer, to be crucifyed.
26:3	Then assembled together the chefe prestes & the scrybes & the elders of the people vnto the palace of the hye preste, (whych was called Cayphas)
26:4	and helde a counsell, that they myght take Iesus by suttelte, and kyll him.
26:5	But they sayd: not on the holy daye, lest there be an vproure amonge the people.
26:6	When Iesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
26:7	ther came vnto him a woman hauyng an alabaster boxe of precious oyntment, and powred it on his heed, as he sate at the bourde.
26:8	But when his disciples sawe it, they had indignacyon, sayinge. Wherto serueth this wast?
26:9	This oyntment myght haue bene well solde, and geuen to the poore.
26:10	When Iesus vnderstode that, he sayde vnto them: why trouble ye the wooman? For she hath wrought a good worcke vpon me.
26:11	For ye haue the poore all wayes, with you: But me shal ye not haue alwayes.

26:14	Then one of the twelue (which was called Iudas Iscarioth) went vnto the chefe prestes,
26:15	and sayd vnto them: what will ye geue me, and I wyll delyuer him vnto you? And they apoynted vnto hym thyrty peces of syluer.
26:16	And from that tyme forth, he sought oportunite to betraye him.
26:17	The fyrst daye of swete breed, the disciples came to Iesus, sayinge vnto him: where wilt thou that we prepare for the, to eate the passeouer?
26:18	And he sayd: go into the cytie, to soche a man, and saye vnto him, the master sayeth: my tyme is at hand, I will kepe myne Easter by the, wyth my disciples:
26:19	And the disciples dyd as Iesus had apoynted them, and they made ready the passeouer.
26:20	When the euen was come, he sate doune wyth the twelue.
26:21	And as they dyd eate, he sayd: Uerely, I saye vnto you, that one of you shall betraye me.
26:22	And they were exceadynge sorowfull, and beganne euery one of them to saye vnto him: Lord, is it I?
26:23	He answered and sayde: he that dyppeth hys hande with me in the disshe, the same shall betraye me.
26:24	The sonne of man truly goeth, as it is written of him: but wo vnto that man, by whom the sonne of man is betrayed. It had bene good for that man, if he had not bene borne.
26:25	Then Iudas which betrayed him, answered, and sayd: master, is it I? He sayde vnto him: thou hast sayd.
26:26	Whan they were eatyng, Iesus toke bread, and whan he had geuen thankes, he brake it, & gaue it to the disciples, & sayd: Take, eate, this is my body.
26:27	And he toke the cup, & thanked, and gaue it them, sayinge: drincke ye all of this.
26:28	For this is my bloud (which is of the new testament) that is shed for many, for the remissyon of synnes.
26:29	But I saye vnto you: I will not dryncke hence forth of this frute of the vyne tree, vntyll that daye, when I shall drincke it newe with you in my fathers kyngdome.
26:30	And when they had sayde grace, they went out vnto mount Oliuete.
26:31	Then sayeth Iesus vnto them: all ye shalbe offended because of me this nyght. For it is wrytten: I will smyte the shepeherde, & the shepe of the flocke shalbe scattered abroade.
26:32	But after I am rysen agayne, I will go before you into Galile.
26:33	Peter answered, & sayde vnto him: though all men be offended because of the, yet will not I be offended.
26:34	Iesus sayd vnto him: Uerely, I saye vnto the, that in this same myght, before the cocke crowe, thou shalt denye me thryse.
26:35	Peter sayde vnto him. Yee, though I shuld dye with the, yet will I not denye the: Like wyse also sayde all the disciples.
26:36	Then came Iesus wt them vnto a farme. place (which is called Gethsemane) and sayde vnto the disciples: syt ye here while I go and praye yonder.
26:37	And he toke with him Peter and the two sonnes of Zebede, and began to wexe sorowfull and heuye.
26:38	Then sayde Iesus vnto them: my soule his heuy, euen vnto the deeth. Tary ye here: and watche wt me.
26:39	And he went a lytell farther, and fell flat on his face, and prayed, sayinge: O my father, yf it be possible, let this cuppe passe from me: neuerthelesse, not as I will, but as thou wilt.
26:40	And he came vnto the disciples, & founde them aslepe, and sayeth vnto Peter: what, coulde ye not watch with me one houre:
26:41	watche, and praye, that ye entre not into temptacyon. The sprete is willinge, but the fleshe is weake.
26:42	He went awaye once agayne and prayed, sayinge, O my father, yf this cuppe maye not passe awaye from me, excepte I drincke of it, thy will be fulfylled.
26:43	And he came, and founde them aslepe agayne. For their eyes were heuy.
26:44	And he lefte them & went agayne, and prayed the thyrd tyme, sayinge the same wordes.
26:45	Then commeth he to his disciples, and sayeth vnto them Slepe on now, and take youre rest. Beholde, the houre is at hande & the sonne of man is betrayed into the handes of synners.
26:46	Ryse, let vs be goinge: beholde, he is at hande, that doth betraye me.
26:47	Whil he yet spake: lo: Iudas one of the nombre of the twelue, came & with him a greate multitude, wt sweardes and staues, sent from the chefe prestes and elders of the people.
26:48	But he that betrayed him gaue them a token, sayinge: whomsoeuer I kysse, that same is he, hold him fast.
26:49	And forth with he came to Iesus, and sayde, hayle Master: and kyssed him.
26:50	And Iesus sayde vnto him: frende, wherfore art thou come? Then came they, and layed handes on Iesus and toke him.
26:51	And beholde, one of them whych were with Iesus, stretched out his hande, and drue his swearde, and stroke a seruaunt of the hye hye prestes, and smote of his eare.
26:52	Then sayd Iesus vnto him: put vp thy swearde into his sheath. For All they that take the swearde, shall perishe with the swearde.
26:53	Thinkest thou that I cannot now praye to my father, and he shall geue me more then twelue Legions of angels?
26:54	But how then shall the scriptures be fulfylled? for this must it be.
26:55	In that same houre sayde Iesus to the multitude: ye be come out as it were vnto a thefe, with swerdes and staues, for to take me. I sat daylie with you, teachinge in the temple, and ye toke me not.
26:56	But all this is done, that the scriptures of the prophetes myght be fulfilled.
26:57	Then all the disciples forsoke him, and fleed. And they toke Iesus, & led him to Cayphas the hye Preste, where the Scribes and the elders were assembled.
26:58	But Peter folowed him a farre of, vnto the hye prestes palace: & went in, and sate with the seruauntes, to se the ende.
26:59	The chefe Prestes and the elders, and all the councell, sought false witnes agaynst Iesus (for to put hym to deeth)
26:60	but founde none: yee, when many false witnesses came, yet founde they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
26:61	and sayde: This felowe sayde. I am able to destroye the temple of God, & to buylde it agayne in thre dayes.
26:62	And the chefe preste arose, & sayd vnto him: answerest thou nothyng? Why do these beare wytnes against the?
26:63	But Iesus helde hys peace. And the chefe preste answered and sayde vnto him: I charge the by the lyuinge God, that thou tell vs, whether thou be Christ the sonne of God.
26:64	Iesus sayeth vnto hym, thou hast sayd. Neuerthelesse I saye vnto you here after shall ye se the sonne of man syttinge on the right hande of power, and commyng in the cloudes of the skye.
26:65	Then the hye preste rent his clothes, sayinge: he hath spoken blasphemye. what nede we of eny moo witnesses? Beholde, now ye haue hearde his blasphemy:
26:66	what thinke ye? They answered, and sayde: he is worthy to dye:
