Numbers - Chapter: 8


8:1	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
8:2	Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick.
8:3	And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.
8:4	And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.
8:5	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
8:6	Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.
8:7	And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.
8:8	Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.
8:9	And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:
8:10	And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:
8:11	And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.
8:12	And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.
8:13	And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.
8:14	Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.
8:15	And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.
8:16	For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.
8:17	For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.
8:18	And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.
8:19	And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.
8:20	And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.
8:21	And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.
8:22	And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.
8:23	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
8:24	This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:
8:25	And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:
8:26	But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.


8:1	וידבר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
8:2	דבר אל אהרן ואמרת אליו בהעלתך את הנרת אל מול פני המנורה יאירו שׁבעת הנרות׃
8:3	ויעשׂ כן אהרן אל מול פני המנורה העלה נרתיה כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה׃
8:4	וזה מעשׂה המנרה מקשׁה זהב עד ירכה עד פרחה מקשׁה הוא כמראה אשׁר הראה יהוה את משׁה כן עשׂה את המנרה׃
8:5	וידבר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
8:6	קח את הלוים מתוך בני ישׂראל וטהרת אתם׃
8:7	וכה תעשׂה להם לטהרם הזה עליהם מי חטאת והעבירו תער על כל בשׂרם וכבסו בגדיהם והטהרו׃
8:8	ולקחו פר בן בקר ומנחתו סלת בלולה בשׁמן ופר שׁני בן בקר תקח לחטאת׃
8:9	והקרבת את הלוים לפני אהל מועד והקהלת את כל עדת בני ישׂראל׃
8:10	והקרבת את הלוים לפני יהוה וסמכו בני ישׂראל את ידיהם על הלוים׃
8:11	והניף אהרן את הלוים תנופה לפני יהוה מאת בני ישׂראל והיו לעבד את עבדת יהוה׃
8:12	והלוים יסמכו את ידיהם על ראשׁ הפרים ועשׂה את האחד חטאת ואת האחד עלה ליהוה לכפר על הלוים׃
8:13	והעמדת את הלוים לפני אהרן ולפני בניו והנפת אתם תנופה ליהוה׃
8:14	והבדלת את הלוים מתוך בני ישׂראל והיו לי הלוים׃
8:15	ואחרי כן יבאו הלוים לעבד את אהל מועד וטהרת אתם והנפת אתם תנופה׃
8:16	כי נתנים נתנים המה לי מתוך בני ישׂראל תחת פטרת כל רחם בכור כל מבני ישׂראל לקחתי אתם׃
8:17	כי לי כל בכור בבני ישׂראל באדם ובבהמה ביום הכתי כל בכור בארץ מצרים הקדשׁתי אתם׃
8:18	ואקח את הלוים תחת כל בכור בבני ישׂראל׃
8:19	ואתנה את הלוים נתנים לאהרן ולבניו מתוך בני ישׂראל לעבד את עבדת בני ישׂראל באהל מועד ולכפר על בני ישׂראל ולא יהיה בבני ישׂראל נגף בגשׁת בני ישׂראל אל הקדשׁ׃
8:20	ויעשׂ משׁה ואהרן וכל עדת בני ישׂראל ללוים ככל אשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה ללוים כן עשׂו להם בני ישׂראל׃
8:21	ויתחטאו הלוים ויכבסו בגדיהם וינף אהרן אתם תנופה לפני יהוה ויכפר עליהם אהרן לטהרם׃
8:22	ואחרי כן באו הלוים לעבד את עבדתם באהל מועד לפני אהרן ולפני בניו כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה על הלוים כן עשׂו׃
8:23	וידבר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
8:24	זאת אשׁר ללוים מבן חמשׁ ועשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה יבוא לצבא צבא בעבדת אהל מועד׃
8:25	ומבן חמשׁים שׁנה ישׁוב מצבא העבדה ולא יעבד עוד׃
8:26	ושׁרת את אחיו באהל מועד לשׁמר משׁמרת ועבדה לא יעבד ככה תעשׂה ללוים במשׁמרתם׃


8:1	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
8:2	`Speak unto Aaron, and thou hast said unto him, In thy causing the lights to go up, over-against the face of the candlestick do the seven lights give light.'
8:3	And Aaron doth so; over-against the face of the candlestick he hath caused its lights to go up, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
8:4	And this `is' the work of the candlestick: beaten work of gold; unto its thigh, unto its flower it `is' beaten work; as the appearance which Jehovah shewed Moses, so he hath made the candlestick.
8:5	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
8:6	`Take the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and thou hast cleansed them.
8:7	`And thus thou dost to them to cleanse them: sprinkle upon them waters of atonement, and they have caused a razor to pass over all their flesh, and have washed their garments, and cleansed themselves,
8:8	and have taken a bullock, a son of the herd, and its present, flour mixed with oil, -- and a second bullock a son of the herd thou dost take for a sin-offering,
8:9	and thou hast brought near the Levites before the tent of meeting, and thou hast assembled the whole company of the sons of Israel,
8:10	and thou hast brought near the Levites before Jehovah, and the sons of Israel have laid their hands on the Levites,
8:11	and Aaron hath waved the Levites -- a wave-offering before Jehovah, from the sons of Israel, and they have been -- for doing the service of Jehovah.
8:12	`And the Levites lay their hands on the head of the bullocks, and make thou the one a sin-offering, and the one a burnt-offering to Jehovah, to atone for the Levites,
8:13	and thou hast caused the Levites to stand before Aaron, and before his sons, and hast waved them -- a wave-offering to Jehovah;
8:14	and thou hast separated the Levites from the midst of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have become Mine;
8:15	and afterwards do the Levites come in to serve the tent of meeting, and thou hast cleansed them, and hast waved them -- a wave-offering.
8:16	`For they are certainly given to Me out of the midst of the sons of Israel, instead of him who openeth any womb -- the first-born of all -- from the sons of Israel I have taken them to Myself;
8:17	for Mine `is' every first-born among the sons of Israel, among man and among beast; in the day of my smiting every first-born in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for Myself;
8:18	and I take the Levites instead of every first-born among the sons of Israel:
8:19	`And I give the Levites gifts to Aaron and to his sons, from the midst of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the sons of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the sons of Israel, and there is no plague among the sons of Israel in the sons of Israel's drawing nigh unto the sanctuary.'
8:20	And Moses doth -- Aaron also, and all the company of the sons of Israel -- to the Levites according to all that Jehovah hath commanded Moses concerning the Levites; so have the sons of Israel done to them.
8:21	And the Levites cleanse themselves, and wash their garments, and Aaron waveth them a wave-offering before Jehovah, and Aaron maketh atonement for them to cleanse them,
8:22	and afterwards have the Levites gone in to do their service in the tent of meeting, before Aaron and before his sons; as Jehovah hath commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they have done to them.
8:23	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
8:24	`This `is' that which `is' the Levites': from a son of five and twenty years and upward he doth go in to serve the host in the service of the tent of meeting,
8:25	and from a son of fifty years he doth return from the host of the service, and doth not serve any more,
8:26	and he hath ministered with his brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and doth not do service; thus thou dost to the Levites concerning their charge.'
