11:1	And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
11:2	And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.
11:3	And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
11:4	And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
11:5	We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
11:6	But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
11:7	And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.
11:8	And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
11:9	And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.
11:10	Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
11:11	And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
11:12	Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
11:13	Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
11:14	I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
11:15	And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
11:16	And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
11:17	And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
11:18	And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
11:19	Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
11:20	But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
11:21	And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
11:22	Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
11:23	And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
11:24	And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.
11:25	And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.
11:26	But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
11:27	And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
11:28	And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
11:29	And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
11:30	And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
11:31	And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
11:32	And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
11:33	And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.
11:34	And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
11:35	And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.


11:1	ויהי העם כמתאננים רע באזני יהוה וישׁמע יהוה ויחר אפו ותבער בם אשׁ יהוה ותאכל בקצה המחנה׃
11:2	ויצעק העם אל משׁה ויתפלל משׁה אל יהוה ותשׁקע האשׁ׃
11:3	ויקרא שׁם המקום ההוא תבערה כי בערה בם אשׁ יהוה׃
11:4	והאספסף אשׁר בקרבו התאוו תאוה וישׁבו ויבכו גם בני ישׂראל ויאמרו מי יאכלנו בשׂר׃
11:5	זכרנו את הדגה אשׁר נאכל במצרים חנם את הקשׁאים ואת האבטחים ואת החציר ואת הבצלים ואת השׁומים׃
11:6	ועתה נפשׁנו יבשׁה אין כל בלתי אל המן עינינו׃
11:7	והמן כזרע גד הוא ועינו כעין הבדלח׃
11:8	שׁטו העם ולקטו וטחנו ברחים או דכו במדכה ובשׁלו בפרור ועשׂו אתו עגות והיה טעמו כטעם לשׁד השׁמן׃
11:9	וברדת הטל על המחנה לילה ירד המן עליו׃
11:10	וישׁמע משׁה את העם בכה למשׁפחתיו אישׁ לפתח אהלו ויחר אף יהוה מאד ובעיני משׁה רע׃
11:11	ויאמר משׁה אל יהוה למה הרעת לעבדך ולמה לא מצתי חן בעיניך לשׂום את משׂא כל העם הזה עלי׃
11:12	האנכי הריתי את כל העם הזה אם אנכי ילדתיהו כי תאמר אלי שׂאהו בחיקך כאשׁר ישׂא האמן את הינק על האדמה אשׁר נשׁבעת לאבתיו׃
11:13	מאין לי בשׂר לתת לכל העם הזה כי יבכו עלי לאמר תנה לנו בשׂר ונאכלה׃
11:14	לא אוכל אנכי לבדי לשׂאת את כל העם הזה כי כבד ממני׃
11:15	ואם ככה את עשׂה לי הרגני נא הרג אם מצאתי חן בעיניך ואל אראה ברעתי׃
11:16	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה אספה לי שׁבעים אישׁ מזקני ישׂראל אשׁר ידעת כי הם זקני העם ושׁטריו ולקחת אתם אל אהל מועד והתיצבו שׁם עמך׃
11:17	וירדתי ודברתי עמך שׁם ואצלתי מן הרוח אשׁר עליך ושׂמתי עליהם ונשׂאו אתך במשׂא העם ולא תשׂא אתה לבדך׃
11:18	ואל העם תאמר התקדשׁו למחר ואכלתם בשׂר כי בכיתם באזני יהוה לאמר מי יאכלנו בשׂר כי טוב לנו במצרים ונתן יהוה לכם בשׂר ואכלתם׃
11:19	לא יום אחד תאכלון ולא יומים ולא חמשׁה ימים ולא עשׂרה ימים ולא עשׂרים יום׃
11:20	עד חדשׁ ימים עד אשׁר יצא מאפכם והיה לכם לזרא יען כי מאסתם את יהוה אשׁר בקרבכם ותבכו לפניו לאמר למה זה יצאנו ממצרים׃
11:21	ויאמר משׁה שׁשׁ מאות אלף רגלי העם אשׁר אנכי בקרבו ואתה אמרת בשׂר אתן להם ואכלו חדשׁ ימים׃
11:22	הצאן ובקר ישׁחט להם ומצא להם אם את כל דגי הים יאסף להם ומצא׃
11:23	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה היד יהוה תקצר עתה תראה היקרך דברי אם לא׃
11:24	ויצא משׁה וידבר אל העם את דברי יהוה ויאסף שׁבעים אישׁ מזקני העם ויעמד אתם סביבת האהל׃
11:25	וירד יהוה בענן וידבר אליו ויאצל מן הרוח אשׁר עליו ויתן על שׁבעים אישׁ הזקנים ויהי כנוח עליהם הרוח ויתנבאו ולא יספו׃
11:26	וישׁארו שׁני אנשׁים במחנה שׁם האחד אלדד ושׁם השׁני מידד ותנח עלהם הרוח והמה בכתבים ולא יצאו האהלה ויתנבאו במחנה׃
11:27	וירץ הנער ויגד למשׁה ויאמר אלדד ומידד מתנבאים במחנה׃
11:28	ויען יהושׁע בן נון משׁרת משׁה מבחריו ויאמר אדני משׁה כלאם׃
11:29	ויאמר לו משׁה המקנא אתה לי ומי יתן כל עם יהוה נביאים כי יתן יהוה את רוחו עליהם׃
11:30	ויאסף משׁה אל המחנה הוא וזקני ישׂראל׃
11:31	ורוח נסע מאת יהוה ויגז שׂלוים מן הים ויטשׁ על המחנה כדרך יום כה וכדרך יום כה סביבות המחנה וכאמתים על פני הארץ׃
11:32	ויקם העם כל היום ההוא וכל הלילה וכל יום המחרת ויאספו את השׂלו הממעיט אסף עשׂרה חמרים וישׁטחו להם שׁטוח סביבות המחנה׃
11:33	הבשׂר עודנו בין שׁניהם טרם יכרת ואף יהוה חרה בעם ויך יהוה בעם מכה רבה מאד׃
11:34	ויקרא את שׁם המקום ההוא קברות התאוה כי שׁם קברו את העם המתאוים׃
11:35	מקברות התאוה נסעו העם חצרות ויהיו בחצרות׃


11:1	And the people is evil, as those sighing habitually in the ears of Jehovah, and Jehovah heareth, and His anger burneth, and the fire of Jehovah burneth among them, and consumeth in the extremity of the camp.
11:2	And the people cry unto Moses, and Moses prayeth unto Jehovah, and the fire is quenched;
11:3	and he calleth the name of that place Taberah, for the fire of Jehovah hath `burned' among them.
11:4	And the rabble who `are' in its midst have lusted greatly, and the sons of Israel also turn back and weep, and say, `Who doth give us flesh?
11:5	We have remembered the fish which we do eat in Egypt for nought, the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick;
11:6	and now our soul `is' dry, there is not anything, save the manna, before our eyes.'
11:7	And the manna is as coriander seed, and its aspect as the aspect of bdolach;
11:8	the people have turned aside and gathered `it', and ground `it' with millstones, or beat `it' in a mortar, and boiled `it' in a pan, and made it cakes, and its taste hath been as the taste of the moisture of oil.
11:9	And in the descending of the dew on the camp by night, the manna descendeth upon it.
11:10	And Moses heareth the people weeping by its families, each at the opening of his tent, and the anger of Jehovah burneth exceedingly, and in the eyes of Moses `it is' evil.
11:11	And Moses saith unto Jehovah, `Why hast Thou done evil to Thy servant? and why have I not found grace in Thine eyes -- to put the burden of all this people upon me?
11:12	I -- have I conceived all this people? I -- have I begotten it, that Thou sayest unto me, Carry it in thy bosom as the nursing father beareth the suckling, unto the ground which Thou hast sworn to its fathers?
11:13	Whence have I flesh to give to all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give to us flesh, and we eat.
11:14	I am not able -- I alone -- to bear all this people, for `it is' too heavy for me;
11:15	and if thus Thou art doing to me -- slay me, I pray Thee; slay, if I have found grace in thine eyes, and let me not look on mine affliction.'
11:16	And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Gather to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou hast known that they are elders of the people, and its authorities; and thou hast taken them unto the tent of meeting, and they have stationed themselves there with thee,
11:17	and I have come down and spoken with thee there, and have kept back of the Spirit which `is' upon thee, and have put on them, and they have borne with thee some of the burden of the people, and thou dost not bear `it' thyself alone.
11:18	`And unto the people thou dost say, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow, and ye have eaten flesh (for ye have wept in the ears of Jehovah, saying, Who doth give us flesh? for we `had' good in Egypt) -- and Jehovah hath given to you flesh, and ye have eaten.
11:19	Ye do not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days; --
11:20	unto a month of days, till that it come out from your nostrils, and it hath become to you an abomination; because that ye have loathed Jehovah, who `is' in your midst, and weep before Him, saying, Why is this? -- we have come out of Egypt!'
11:21	And Moses saith, `Six hundred thousand footmen `are' the people in whose midst I `am'; and Thou, Thou hast said, Flesh I give to them, and they have eaten, a month of days!
11:22	Is flock and herd slaughtered for them, that one hath found for them? -- are all the fishes of the sea gathered for them -- that one hath found for them?'
11:23	And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Is the hand of Jehovah become short? now thou dost see whether My word meeteth thee or not.'
11:24	And Moses goeth out, and speaketh unto the people the words of Jehovah, and gathereth seventy men of the elders of the people, and causeth them to stand round about the tent,
11:25	and Jehovah cometh down in the cloud, and speaketh unto him, and keepeth back of the Spirit which `is' on him, and putteth on the seventy men of the elders; and it cometh to pass at the resting of the Spirit on them, that they prophesy, and do not cease.
11:26	And two of the men are left in the camp, the name of the one `is' Eldad, and the name of the second Medad, and the spirit resteth upon them, (and they are among those written, and have not gone out to the tent), and they prophesy in the camp;
11:27	and the young man runneth, and declareth to Moses, and saith, `Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.'
11:28	And Joshua son of Nun, minister of Moses, `one' of his young men, answereth and saith, `My lord Moses, restrain them.'
11:29	And Moses saith to him, `Art thou zealous for me? O that all Jehovah's people were prophets! that Jehovah would put His Spirit upon them!'
11:30	And Moses is gathered unto the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
11:31	And a spirit hath journeyed from Jehovah, and cutteth off quails from the sea, and leaveth by the camp, as a day's journey here, and as a day's journey there, round about the camp, and about two cubits, on the face of the land.
11:32	And the people rise all that day, and all the night, and all the day after, and gather the quails -- he who hath least hath gathered ten homers -- and they spread them out for themselves round about the camp.
11:33	The flesh is yet between their teeth -- it is not yet cut off -- and the anger of Jehovah hath burned among the people, and Jehovah smiteth among the people -- a very great smiting;
11:34	and `one' calleth the name of that place Kibroth-Hattaavah, for there they have buried the people who lust.
11:35	From Kibroth-Hattaavah have the people journeyed to Hazeroth, and they are in Hazeroth.
