Numbers - Chapter: 27


27:1	Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
27:2	And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
27:3	Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
27:4	Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
27:5	And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
27:6	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27:7	The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.
27:8	And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.
27:9	And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.
27:10	And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.
27:11	And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.
27:12	And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.
27:13	And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.
27:14	For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.
27:15	And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,
27:16	Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
27:17	Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.
27:18	And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
27:19	And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
27:20	And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
27:21	And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
27:22	And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
27:23	And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.


27:1	ותקרבנה בנות צלפחד בן חפר בן גלעד בן מכיר בן מנשׁה למשׁפחת מנשׁה בן יוסף ואלה שׁמות בנתיו מחלה נעה וחגלה ומלכה ותרצה׃
27:2	ותעמדנה לפני משׁה ולפני אלעזר הכהן ולפני הנשׂיאם וכל העדה פתח אהל מועד לאמר׃
27:3	אבינו מת במדבר והוא לא היה בתוך העדה הנועדים על יהוה בעדת קרח כי בחטאו מת ובנים לא היו׃
27:4	למה יגרע שׁם אבינו מתוך משׁפחתו כי אין לו בן תנה לנו אחזה בתוך אחי אבינו׃
27:5	ויקרב משׁה את משׁפטן לפני יהוה׃
27:6	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
27:7	כן בנות צלפחד דברת נתן תתן להם אחזת נחלה בתוך אחי אביהם והעברת את נחלת אביהן׃
27:8	ואל בני ישׂראל תדבר לאמר אישׁ כי ימות ובן אין לו והעברתם את נחלתו לבתו׃
27:9	ואם אין לו בת ונתתם את נחלתו לאחיו׃
27:10	ואם אין לו אחים ונתתם את נחלתו לאחי אביו׃
27:11	ואם אין אחים לאביו ונתתם את נחלתו לשׁארו הקרב אליו ממשׁפחתו וירשׁ אתה והיתה לבני ישׂראל לחקת משׁפט כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה׃
27:12	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה עלה אל הר העברים הזה וראה את הארץ אשׁר נתתי לבני ישׂראל׃
27:13	וראיתה אתה ונאספת אל עמיך גם אתה כאשׁר נאסף אהרן אחיך׃
27:14	כאשׁר מריתם פי במדבר צן במריבת העדה להקדישׁני במים לעיניהם הם מי מריבת קדשׁ מדבר צן׃
27:15	וידבר משׁה אל יהוה לאמר׃
27:16	יפקד יהוה אלהי הרוחת לכל בשׂר אישׁ על העדה׃
27:17	אשׁר יצא לפניהם ואשׁר יבא לפניהם ואשׁר יוציאם ואשׁר יביאם ולא תהיה עדת יהוה כצאן אשׁר אין להם רעה׃
27:18	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה קח לך את יהושׁע בן נון אישׁ אשׁר רוח בו וסמכת את ידך עליו׃
27:19	והעמדת אתו לפני אלעזר הכהן ולפני כל העדה וצויתה אתו לעיניהם׃
27:20	ונתתה מהודך עליו למען ישׁמעו כל עדת בני ישׂראל׃
27:21	ולפני אלעזר הכהן יעמד ושׁאל לו במשׁפט האורים לפני יהוה על פיו יצאו ועל פיו יבאו הוא וכל בני ישׂראל אתו וכל העדה׃
27:22	ויעשׂ משׁה כאשׁר צוה יהוה אתו ויקח את יהושׁע ויעמדהו לפני אלעזר הכהן ולפני כל העדה׃
27:23	ויסמך את ידיו עליו ויצוהו כאשׁר דבר יהוה ביד משׁה׃


27:1	And daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh son of Joseph, draw near -- and these `are' the names of his daughters, Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah --
27:2	and stand before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the company, at the opening of the tent of meeting, saying:
27:3	`Our father died in the wilderness, and he -- he was not in the midst of the company who were met together against Jehovah in the company of Korah, but for his own sin he died, and had no sons;
27:4	why is the name of our father withdrawn from the midst of his family because he hath no son? give to us a possession in the midst of the brethren of our father;'
27:5	and Moses bringeth near their cause before Jehovah.
27:6	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
27:7	`Rightly are the daughters of Zelophehad speaking; thou dost certainly give to them a possession of an inheritance in the midst of their father's brethren, and hast caused to pass over the inheritance of their father to them.
27:8	`And unto the sons of Israel thou dost speak, saying, When a man dieth, and hath no son, then ye have caused his inheritance to pass over to his daughter;
27:9	and if he have no daughter, then ye have given his inheritance to his brethren;
27:10	and if he have no brethren, then ye have given his inheritance to his father's brethren;
27:11	and if his father have no brethren, then ye have given his inheritance to his relation who is near unto him of his family, and he hath possessed it;' and it hath been to the sons of Israel for a statute of judgment, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
27:12	And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go up unto this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel;
27:13	and thou hast seen it, and thou hast been gathered unto thy people, also thou, as Aaron thy brother hath been gathered,
27:14	because ye provoked My mouth in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the company -- to sanctify Me at the waters before their eyes;' they `are' waters of Meribah, in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.
27:15	And Moses speaketh unto Jehovah, saying,
27:16	`Jehovah -- God of the spirits of all flesh -- appoint a man over the company,
27:17	who goeth out before them, and who cometh in before them, and who taketh them out, and who bringeth them in, and the company of Jehovah is not as sheep which have no shepherd.'
27:18	And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Take to thee Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom `is' the Spirit, and thou hast laid thine hand upon him,
27:19	and hast caused him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the company, and hast charged him before their eyes,
27:20	and hast put of thine honour upon him, so that all the company of the sons of Israel do hearken.
27:21	`And before Eleazar the priest he standeth, and he hath asked for him by the judgment of the Lights before Jehovah; at His word they go out, and at His word they come in; he, and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the company.'
27:22	And Moses doth as Jehovah hath commanded him, and taketh Joshua, and causeth him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the company,
27:23	and layeth his hands upon him, and chargeth him, as Jehovah hath spoken by the hand of Moses.
