31:1	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
31:2	Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
31:3	And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.
31:4	Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
31:5	So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
31:6	And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.
31:7	And they warred against the Midianites, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
31:8	And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
31:9	And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
31:10	And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
31:11	And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.
31:12	And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.
31:13	And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.
31:14	And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.
31:15	And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?
31:16	Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.
31:17	Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
31:18	But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
31:19	And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.
31:20	And purify all your raiment, and all that is made of skins, and all work of goats' hair, and all things made of wood.
31:21	And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD commanded Moses;
31:22	Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
31:23	Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.
31:24	And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp.
31:25	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
31:26	Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the congregation:
31:27	And divide the prey into two parts; between them that took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the congregation:
31:28	And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep:
31:29	Take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for an heave offering of the LORD.
31:30	And of the children of Israel's half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.
31:31	And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.
31:32	And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep.
31:33	And threescore and twelve thousand beeves,
31:34	And threescore and one thousand asses,
31:35	And thirty and two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him.
31:36	And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and seven and thirty thousand and five hundred sheep:
31:37	And the LORD'S tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.
31:38	And the beeves were thirty and six thousand; of which the LORD'S tribute was threescore and twelve.
31:39	And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which the LORD'S tribute was threescore and one.
31:40	And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the LORD'S tribute was thirty and two persons.
31:41	And Moses gave the tribute, which was the LORD'S heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.
31:42	And of the children of Israel's half, which Moses divided from the men that warred,
31:43	(Now the half that pertained unto the congregation was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep,
31:44	And thirty and six thousand beeves,
31:45	And thirty thousand asses and five hundred,
31:46	And sixteen thousand persons;)
31:47	Even of the children of Israel's half, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.
31:48	And the officers which were over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses:
31:49	And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.
31:50	We have therefore brought an oblation for the LORD, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.
31:51	And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.
31:52	And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.
31:53	(For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)
31:54	And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.


31:1	וידבר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
31:2	נקם נקמת בני ישׂראל מאת המדינים אחר תאסף אל עמיך׃
31:3	וידבר משׁה אל העם לאמר החלצו מאתכם אנשׁים לצבא ויהיו על מדין לתת נקמת יהוה במדין׃
31:4	אלף למטה אלף למטה לכל מטות ישׂראל תשׁלחו לצבא׃
31:5	וימסרו מאלפי ישׂראל אלף למטה שׁנים עשׂר אלף חלוצי צבא׃
31:6	וישׁלח אתם משׁה אלף למטה לצבא אתם ואת פינחס בן אלעזר הכהן לצבא וכלי הקדשׁ וחצצרות התרועה בידו׃
31:7	ויצבאו על מדין כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה ויהרגו כל זכר׃
31:8	ואת מלכי מדין הרגו על חלליהם את אוי ואת רקם ואת צור ואת חור ואת רבע חמשׁת מלכי מדין ואת בלעם בן בעור הרגו בחרב׃
31:9	וישׁבו בני ישׂראל את נשׁי מדין ואת טפם ואת כל בהמתם ואת כל מקנהם ואת כל חילם בזזו׃
31:10	ואת כל עריהם במושׁבתם ואת כל טירתם שׂרפו באשׁ׃
31:11	ויקחו את כל השׁלל ואת כל המלקוח באדם ובבהמה׃
31:12	ויבאו אל משׁה ואל אלעזר הכהן ואל עדת בני ישׂראל את השׁבי ואת המלקוח ואת השׁלל אל המחנה אל ערבת מואב אשׁר על ירדן ירחו׃
31:13	ויצאו משׁה ואלעזר הכהן וכל נשׂיאי העדה לקראתם אל מחוץ למחנה׃
31:14	ויקצף משׁה על פקודי החיל שׂרי האלפים ושׂרי המאות הבאים מצבא המלחמה׃
31:15	ויאמר אליהם משׁה החייתם כל נקבה׃
31:16	הן הנה היו לבני ישׂראל בדבר בלעם למסר מעל ביהוה על דבר פעור ותהי המגפה בעדת יהוה׃
31:17	ועתה הרגו כל זכר בטף וכל אשׁה ידעת אישׁ למשׁכב זכר הרגו׃
31:18	וכל הטף בנשׁים אשׁר לא ידעו משׁכב זכר החיו׃
31:19	ואתם חנו מחוץ למחנה שׁבעת ימים כל הרג נפשׁ וכל נגע בחלל תתחטאו ביום השׁלישׁי וביום השׁביעי אתם ושׁביכם׃
31:20	וכל בגד וכל כלי עור וכל מעשׂה עזים וכל כלי עץ תתחטאו׃
31:21	ויאמר אלעזר הכהן אל אנשׁי הצבא הבאים למלחמה זאת חקת התורה אשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה׃
31:22	אך את הזהב ואת הכסף את הנחשׁת את הברזל את הבדיל ואת העפרת׃
31:23	כל דבר אשׁר יבא באשׁ תעבירו באשׁ וטהר אך במי נדה יתחטא וכל אשׁר לא יבא באשׁ תעבירו במים׃
31:24	וכבסתם בגדיכם ביום השׁביעי וטהרתם ואחר תבאו אל המחנה׃
31:25	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
31:26	שׂא את ראשׁ מלקוח השׁבי באדם ובבהמה אתה ואלעזר הכהן וראשׁי אבות העדה׃
31:27	וחצית את המלקוח בין תפשׂי המלחמה היצאים לצבא ובין כל העדה׃
31:28	והרמת מכס ליהוה מאת אנשׁי המלחמה היצאים לצבא אחד נפשׁ מחמשׁ המאות מן האדם ומן הבקר ומן החמרים ומן הצאן׃
31:29	ממחציתם תקחו ונתתה לאלעזר הכהן תרומת יהוה׃
31:30	וממחצת בני ישׂראל תקח אחד אחז מן החמשׁים מן האדם מן הבקר מן החמרים ומן הצאן מכל הבהמה ונתתה אתם ללוים שׁמרי משׁמרת משׁכן יהוה׃
31:31	ויעשׂ משׁה ואלעזר הכהן כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה׃
31:32	ויהי המלקוח יתר הבז אשׁר בזזו עם הצבא צאן שׁשׁ מאות אלף ושׁבעים אלף וחמשׁת אלפים׃
31:33	ובקר שׁנים ושׁבעים אלף׃
31:34	וחמרים אחד ושׁשׁים אלף׃
31:35	ונפשׁ אדם מן הנשׁים אשׁר לא ידעו משׁכב זכר כל נפשׁ שׁנים ושׁלשׁים אלף׃
31:36	ותהי המחצה חלק היצאים בצבא מספר הצאן שׁלשׁ מאות אלף ושׁלשׁים אלף ושׁבעת אלפים וחמשׁ מאות׃
31:37	ויהי המכס ליהוה מן הצאן שׁשׁ מאות חמשׁ ושׁבעים׃
31:38	והבקר שׁשׁה ושׁלשׁים אלף ומכסם ליהוה שׁנים ושׁבעים׃
31:39	וחמרים שׁלשׁים אלף וחמשׁ מאות ומכסם ליהוה אחד ושׁשׁים׃
31:40	ונפשׁ אדם שׁשׁה עשׂר אלף ומכסם ליהוה שׁנים ושׁלשׁים נפשׁ׃
31:41	ויתן משׁה את מכס תרומת יהוה לאלעזר הכהן כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה׃
31:42	וממחצית בני ישׂראל אשׁר חצה משׁה מן האנשׁים הצבאים׃
31:43	ותהי מחצת העדה מן הצאן שׁלשׁ מאות אלף ושׁלשׁים אלף שׁבעת אלפים וחמשׁ מאות׃
31:44	ובקר שׁשׁה ושׁלשׁים אלף׃
31:45	וחמרים שׁלשׁים אלף וחמשׁ מאות׃
31:46	ונפשׁ אדם שׁשׁה עשׂר אלף׃
31:47	ויקח משׁה ממחצת בני ישׂראל את האחז אחד מן החמשׁים מן האדם ומן הבהמה ויתן אתם ללוים שׁמרי משׁמרת משׁכן יהוה כאשׁר צוה יהוה את משׁה׃
31:48	ויקרבו אל משׁה הפקדים אשׁר לאלפי הצבא שׂרי האלפים ושׂרי המאות׃
31:49	ויאמרו אל משׁה עבדיך נשׂאו את ראשׁ אנשׁי המלחמה אשׁר בידנו ולא נפקד ממנו אישׁ׃
31:50	ונקרב את קרבן יהוה אישׁ אשׁר מצא כלי זהב אצעדה וצמיד טבעת עגיל וכומז לכפר על נפשׁתינו לפני יהוה׃
31:51	ויקח משׁה ואלעזר הכהן את הזהב מאתם כל כלי מעשׂה׃
31:52	ויהי כל זהב התרומה אשׁר הרימו ליהוה שׁשׁה עשׂר אלף שׁבע מאות וחמשׁים שׁקל מאת שׂרי האלפים ומאת שׂרי המאות׃
31:53	אנשׁי הצבא בזזו אישׁ׃
31:54	ויקח משׁה ואלעזר הכהן את הזהב מאת שׂרי האלפים והמאות ויבאו אתו אל אהל מועד זכרון לבני ישׂראל לפני יהוה׃


31:1	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
31:2	`Execute the vengeance of the sons of Israel against the Midianites -- afterwards thou art gathered unto thy people.'
31:3	And Moses speaketh unto the people, saying, `Be ye armed some of you for the host, and they are against Midian, to put the vengeance of Jehovah on Midian;
31:4	a thousand for a tribe -- a thousand for a tribe, to all the tribes of Israel -- ye do send to the host.'
31:5	And there are given out of the thousands of Israel a thousand for a tribe, twelve thousand armed ones of the host;
31:6	and Moses sendeth them, a thousand for a tribe, to the host, them and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, to the host; and the holy vessels, and the trumpets of the shouting, in his hand.
31:7	And they war against Midian, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses, and slay every male;
31:8	and the kings of Midian they have slain, besides their pierced ones, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian; and Balaam son of Beor, they have slain with the sword.
31:9	And the sons of Israel take captive the women of Midian, and their infants; and all their cattle, and all their substance, and all their wealth they have plundered;
31:10	and all their cities, with their habitations, and all their towers, they have burnt with fire.
31:11	And they take all the spoil, and all the prey, among man and among beast;
31:12	and they bring in, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the company of the sons of Israel, the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto the camp, unto the plains of Moab, which `are' by Jordan, `near' Jericho.
31:13	And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the company, go out to meet them, unto the outside of the camp,
31:14	and Moses is wroth against the inspectors of the force, chiefs of the thousands, and chiefs of the hundreds, who are coming in from the host of the battle.
31:15	And Moses saith unto them, `Have ye kept alive every female?
31:16	lo, they -- they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the company of Jehovah.
31:17	`And now, slay ye every male among the infants, yea, every woman known of man by the lying of a male ye have slain;
31:18	and all the infants among the women, who have not known the lying of a male, ye have kept alive for yourselves.
31:19	`And ye, encamp ye at the outside of the camp seven days -- any who hath slain a person, and any who hath come against a pierced one, ye cleanse yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day -- ye and your captives;
31:20	and every garment, and every skin vessel, and every work of goats' `hair', and every wooden vessel, ye yourselves cleanse.'
31:21	And Eleazar the priest saith unto the men of the host who go in to battle, `This `is' the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:
31:22	only, the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
31:23	every thing which may go into fire, ye cause to pass over through fire, and it hath been clean; only, with the water of separation it is cleansed, and all that may not go into fire, ye cause to pass over through water;
31:24	and ye have washed your garments on the seventh day, and have been clean, and afterwards ye come in unto the camp.'
31:25	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
31:26	`Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the company;
31:27	and thou hast halved the prey between those handling the battle who go out to the host and all the company;
31:28	and thou hast raised a tribute to Jehovah from the men of war, who go out to the host, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the asses, and of the flock;
31:29	from their half ye do take, and thou hast given to Eleazar the priest -- the heave-offering of Jehovah.
31:30	`And from the sons of Israel's half thou dost take one possession out of fifty, of man, of the herd, of the asses, and of the flock, of all the cattle, and thou hast given them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.'
31:31	And Moses doth -- Eleazar the priest also -- as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
31:32	And the prey, the residue of the spoil which the people of the host have spoiled, is of the flock six hundred thousand, and seventy thousand, and five thousand;
31:33	and of the herd two and seventy thousand;
31:34	and of asses one and sixty thousand;
31:35	and of human beings -- of the women who have not known the lying of a male -- all the persons `are' two and thirty thousand.
31:36	And the half -- the portion of those who go out into the host -- the number of the flock is three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, and seven thousand and five hundred.
31:37	And the tribute to Jehovah of the sheep is six hundred five and seventy;
31:38	and the herd `is' six and thirty thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah `is' two and seventy;
31:39	and the asses `are' thirty thousand and five hundred, and their tribute to Jehovah `is' one and sixty;
31:40	and the human beings `are' sixteen thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah `is' two and thirty persons.
31:41	And Moses giveth the tribute -- Jehovah's heave-offering -- to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
31:42	And of the sons of Israel's half, which Moses halved from the men who war --
31:43	and the company's half is, of the flock three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred;
31:44	and of the herd six and thirty thousand;
31:45	and of asses thirty thousand and five hundred;
31:46	and of human beings sixteen thousand --
31:47	Moses taketh from the sons of Israel's half the one possession from the fifty, of man and of beast, and giveth them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.
31:48	And the inspectors whom the thousands of the host hath, (heads of the thousands and heads of the hundreds), draw near unto Moses,
31:49	and they say unto Moses, `Thy servants have taken up the sum of the men of war who `are' with us, and not a man of us hath been missed;
31:50	and we bring near Jehovah's offering, each that which he hath found, vessels of gold -- chain, and bracelet, seal-ring, `ear'-ring, and bead -- to make atonement for ourselves before Jehovah.'
31:51	And Moses receiveth -- Eleazar the priest also -- the gold from them, every made vessel,
31:52	and all the gold of the heave-offering which they have lifted up to Jehovah is sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from heads of the thousands, and from heads of the hundreds;
31:53	(the men of the host have spoiled each for himself);
31:54	and Moses taketh -- Eleazar the priest also -- the gold from the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they bring it in unto the tent of meeting -- a memorial for the sons of Israel before Jehovah.
