10:1	And he rose from thence, & commeth into the coasts of Iudea by the farther side of Iordan: and the people resort vnto him againe, and as he was wont, he taught them againe.
10:2	And the Pharises came to him, and asked him, Is it lawfull for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
10:3	And he answered, and saide vnto them, What did Moses command you?
10:4	And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of diuorcement, and to put her away.
10:5	And Iesus answered, and said vnto them, For the hardnesse of your heart, he wrote you this precept.
10:6	But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male, and female.
10:7	For this cause shall a man leaue his father and mother, and cleaue to his wife,
10:8	And they twaine shalbe one flesh: so then they are no more twaine, but one flesh.
10:9	What therefore God hath ioyned together, let not man put asunder.
10:10	And in the house his disciples asked him againe of the same matter.
10:11	And he saith vnto them, Whosoeuer shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
10:12	And if a woman shall put away her husband, and bee married to another, she committeth adulterie.
10:13	And they brought yong children to him, that he should touch them, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
10:14	But when Iesus saw it, hee was much displeased, and said vnto them, Suffer the little children to come vnto mee, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdome of God.
10:15	Uerily I say vnto you, Whosoeuer shall not receiue the kingdome of God as a little childe, he shall not enter therein.
10:16	And hee tooke them vp in his armes, put his handes vpon them, and blessed them.
10:17	And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good master, what shall I doe that I may inherit eternall life?
10:18	And Iesus said vnto him, Why callest thou me good? There is no man good, but one, that is God.
10:19	Thou knowest the Commandements, Doe not commit adulterie, Doe not kill, Doe not steale, Doe not beare false witnesse, Defraud not, Honour thy father, and mother.
10:20	And hee answered, and saide vnto him, Master, all these haue I obserued from my youth.
10:21	Then Iesus beholding him, loued him, and said vnto him, One thing thou lackest; Goe thy way, sell whatsoeuer thou hast, and giue to the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come, take vp the crosse & folow me.
10:22	And hee was sad at that saying, and went away grieued: for hee had great possessions.
10:23	And Iesus looked round about, and saith vnto his disciples, How hardly shall they that haue riches enter into the kingdome of God?
10:24	And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Iesus answereth againe, and saith vnto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches, to enter into the kingdom of God?
10:25	It is easier for a camel to goe thorow the eye of a needle, then for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
10:26	And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselues, Who then can be saued?
10:27	And Iesus looking vpon them, saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
10:28	Then Peter began to say vnto him, Loe, we haue left all, and haue followed thee.
10:29	And Iesus answered, and said, Uerily I say vnto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the Gospels,
10:30	But hee shall receiue an hundred fold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternall life:
10:31	But many that are first, shall be last: and the last, first.
10:32	And they were in the way going vp to Hierusalem: and Iesus went before them, and they were amazed, and as they followed, they were afraid: and he tooke againe the twelue, and began to tell them what things should happen vnto him,
10:33	Saying, Behold, we go vp to Hierusalem, and the Sonne of man shall be deliuered vnto the chiefe Priests, and vnto the Scribes: and they shall condemne him to death, and shall deliuer him to the Gentiles.
10:34	And they shall mocke him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit vpon him, and shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise againe.
10:35	And Iames, and Iohn the sonnes of Zebedee come vnto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for vs whatsoeuer we shall desire.
10:36	And hee saide vnto them, What would ye that I should doe for you?
10:37	They said vnto him, Grant vnto vs that wee may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
10:38	But Iesus said vnto them, Yee know not what ye aske: Can ye drinke of the cup that I drinke of? and be baptized with the baptisme that I am baptized with?
10:39	And they said vnto him, Wee can. And Iesus said vnto them, Ye shall indeed drinke of the cup that I drinke of: and with the baptisme that I am baptized withall, shall ye be baptized:
10:40	But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand, is not mine to giue, but it shall be giuen to them for whom it is prepared.
10:41	And when the ten heard it, they beganne to bee much displeased with Iames and Iohn.
10:42	But Iesus called them to him, and saith vnto them, Yee know that they which are accompted to rule ouer the Gentiles, exercise Lordship ouer them: and their great ones exercise authoritie vpon them.
10:43	But so shall it not be among you: but whosoeuer will bee great among you, shall be your minister:
10:44	And whosoeuer of you will bee the chiefest, shalbe seruant of all.
10:45	For euen the Sonne of man came not to bee ministred vnto, but to minister, and to giue his life a ransome for many.
10:46	And they came to Iericho: and as he went out of Iericho with his disciples, and a great number of people; blinde Bartimeus, the son of Timeus, sate by the high wayes side, begging.
10:47	And when he heard that it was Iesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Iesus thou Sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on me.
10:48	And many charged him, that he should hold his peace: But he cried the more a great deale, Thou Sonne of Dauid, haue mercy on me.
10:49	And Iesus stood still, and commanded him to bee called: and they call the blinde man, saying vnto him, Be of good comfort, rise, he calleth thee.
10:50	And hee casting away his garment, rose, and came to Iesus.
10:51	And Iesus answered, and said vnto him, What wilt thou that I should doe vnto thee? The blinde man said vnto him, Lord, that I might receiue my sight.
10:52	And Iesus saide vnto him, Goe thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole: And immediatly hee receiued his sight, & followed Iesus in the way.


10:1	And he rose vp, and came from thence in to the places of Iewry beyonde Iordan. And the people wete agayne vnto him by heapes, and as his maner was he taught them agayne.
10:2	And the Pharises came vnto him, and axed him, yf it were laufull for a man to put awaye his wife, and tempted him withall.
10:3	But he answered and sayde: What hath Moses comaunded you?
10:4	They sayde: Moses suffred to wryte a testimoniall of deuorcemet, and to put her awaye.
10:5	Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them: Because of ye hardnesse of yor hert dyd Moses wryte you this commaundement.
10:6	But from the first creacion God made the man and woman.
10:7	For this cause shal a man leaue his father & mother, and cleue vnto his wife,
10:8	and they two shalbe one flesh. Now are they not twayne the, but one flesh.
10:9	Let not man therfore put asunder that, which God hath coupled together.
10:10	And at home his disciples axed him agayne of ye same.
10:11	And he sayde vnto the: Who so euer putteth awaye his wife, & marieth another, breaketh wedlocke to her warde.
10:12	And yf a woma forsake hir hussbande, & be maried to another, she comitteth aduoutrie.
10:13	And they brought childre vnto him, that he might touch them. But the disciples reproued those that brought the.
10:14	Neuertheles whan Iesus sawe it, he was displeased, and sayde vnto them: Suffre the children to come vnto me, and forbyd them not, for of soch is the kyngdome of God.
10:15	Verely I saye vnto you: Who so euer receaueth not the kyngdome of God as a childe, he shal not entre therin.
10:16	And he toke them vp in his armes, and layed his handes vpon them, and blessed them.
10:17	And whan he was gone forth vpon the waye, there came one runninge, and kneled vnto him, & axed him: Good Master, what shal I do, that I maye inheret euerlastinge life?
10:18	But Iesus saide vnto him: Why callest thou me good? There is no man good, but God onely,
10:19	Thou knowest the commaundementes: Thou shalt not breake wedlocke: thou shalt not kyll: thou shalt not steale: thou shalt beare no false wytnesse: thou shalt begyle no man: Honoure thy father and mother.
10:20	But he answered, and sayde vnto him: Master, all these haue I kepte fro my youth vp.
10:21	And Iesus behelde him, and loued him, & sayde vnto him: Thou wantest one thinge: Go thy waye, and sell all that thou hast, and geue it vnto ye poore: so shalt thou haue a treasure in heauen, and come & folowe me, and take the crosse vpon ye.
10:22	And he was disconforted at the sayenge, & wente awaye sory, for he had greate possessions.
10:23	And Iesus loked aboute him, and sayde vnto his disciples: O how hardly shal the ryche come into ye kyngdome of God?
10:24	And the disciples were astonnyed at his wordes. But Iesus answered agayne, and sayde vnto them: Deare children, how harde is it for them that trust in riches, to come into the kyngdome of God?
10:25	It is easier for a Camell to go thorow the eye of a nedle, then for a rich man to entre in to ye kyngdome of God.
10:26	Yet were they astonnyed ye more, and sayde amonge the selues: Who can the be saued?
10:27	But Iesus behelde them, and sayde: With men it is vnpossyble, but not with God: for with God all thinges are possyble.
10:28	Then sayde Peter vnto him: Beholde, we haue forsaken all, and folowed the.
10:29	Iesus answered & sayde: Verely I saye vnto you: There is no man that forsaketh house, or brethren, or sisters, or father or mother, or wife, or children, or londes for my sake and the gospels,
10:30	that shal not receaue an hundreth folde now in this tyme, houses, and brethre, and sisters, and mothers and children, and londes with persecucions, and in the worlde to come euerlastinge life.
10:31	But many that are the first, shal be the last: and the last the first.
10:32	They were in the waye goinge vp to Ierusalem, and Iesus wente before them. And they were astonnyed, and folowed him, and were afrayed. And Iesus toke the twolue agayne, and tolde them what shulde happe vnto him.
10:33	Beholde, we go vp to Ierusalem, and the sonne of man shalbe delyuered vnto the hye prestes and scrybes, and they shal condemne him to death, and delyuer him vnto the Heythe.
10:34	And they shal mocke hi, and scourge him, and spyt vpon him, and put him to death, and on the thirde daye shal he ryse agayne.
10:35	Then wete vnto him Iames and Ihon ye sonnes of Zebede, and sayde: Master, We desyre, that what soeuer we axe of the, thou wilt do it for vs.
10:36	He sayde vnto the: What desyre ye that I shal do to you?
10:37	They sayde vnto him: Graunte vs, that we maye syt one at thy right hande, and one at thy left hande in thy glory.
10:38	But Iesus sayde vnto the: Ye wote not what ye axe. Maye ye drynke the cuppe, yt I shal drynke? and be baptysed with the baptyme that I shal be baptysed withall?
10:39	They sayde vnto him: Yee yt we maye. Iesus sayde vnto them: The cuppe that I drynke, shal ye drynke in dede: and be baptysed with the baptyme that I shall be baptysed withall.
10:40	Neuertheles to syt at my right hande and at my left, is not myne to geue you, but vnto them for whom it is prepared.
10:41	And wha the ten herde that, they disdayned at Iames and Ihon.
10:42	But Iesus called them, and sayde vnto them: Ye knowe that the prynces of ye worlde haue domynacion of the people, and ye mightie exercise auctorite amonge them.
10:43	So shal it not be amonge you: but who so euer wil be greate amoge you, shal be youre mynister:
10:44	and who so wyl be chefest amonge you, shalbe seruaunt of all.
10:45	For the sonne of man also came not to be serued, but to do seruyce, and to geue his life to a redempcion for many.
10:46	And they came vnto Iericho. And whan he wente out of Iericho, and his disciples, and moch people, there sat one blynde Barthimeus the sonne of Thimeus by ye waye, and begged.
10:47	And wha he herde that it was Iesus of Nazareth, he beganne to crie and saye: Iesu thou sonne of Dauid haue mercy vpon me.
10:48	And many reproued him, that he shulde holde his tunge. But he cried moch more: Thou sonne of Dauid haue mercyvpo me.
10:49	And Iesus stode styll, and bad call him. And they called the blynde, and sayde vnto him: Be of good conforte, aryse, he calleth the.
10:50	And he cast awaye his garment from him, stode vp, aud came to Iesus.
10:51	And Iesus answered, & sayde vnto him: What wilt thou that I do vnto the? The blynde sayde vnto him: Master, that I might se.
10:52	Iesus sayde vnto him: Go yi waye, thy faith hath helped ye. And immediatly he had his sight and folowed him in the waye.


10:1	And Jhesus roos vp fro thennus, and cam in to the coostis of Judee ouer Jordan; and eftsoones the puple cam togidere to hym, and as he was wont, eftsoone he tauyte hem.
10:2	And the Farisees camen, and axiden hym, Whether it be leueful to a man to leeue his wijf? and thei temptiden hym.
10:3	And he answeride, and seide to hem, What comaundide Moises to you?
10:4	And thei seiden, Moises suffride to write a libel of forsaking, and to forsake.
10:5	`To whiche Jhesus answeride, and seide, For the hardnesse of youre herte Moises wroot to you this comaundement.
10:6	But fro the bigynnyng of creature God made hem male and female;
10:7	and seide, For this thing a man schal leeue his fadir and modir,
10:8	and schal drawe to hys wijf, and thei schulen be tweyne in o flesch. And so now thei ben not tweyne, but o flesch.
10:9	Therfor that thing that God ioynede togidere, no man departe.
10:10	And eftsoone in the hous hise disciplis axiden hym of the same thing.
10:11	And he seide to hem, Who euer leeuith his wijf, and weddith another, he doith auowtri on hir.
10:12	And if the wijf leeue hir housebonde, and be weddid to another man, sche doith letcherie.
10:13	And thei brouyten to hym litle children, that he schulde touche hem; and the disciplis threteneden the men, that brouyten hem.
10:14	And whanne Jhesus hadde seyn hem, he baar heuy, and seide to hem, Suffre ye litle children to come to me, and forbede ye hem not, for of suche is the kyngdom of God.
10:15	Treuli Y seie to you, who euer resseyueth not the kyngdom of God as a litil child, he schal not entre in to it.
10:16	And he biclippide hem, and leide hise hondis on hem, and blisside hem.
10:17	And whanne Jhesus was gon out in the weie, a man ranne bifore, and knelide bifor hym, and preiede hym, and seide, Good maister, what schal Y do, that Y resseyue euerlastynge lijf?
10:18	And Jhesus seide to hym, What seist thou, that Y am good? Ther is no man good, but God hym silf.
10:19	Thou knowist the comaundementis, do thou noon auowtrie, `sle not, stele not, seie not fals witnessyng, do no fraude, worschipe thi fadir and thi modir.
10:20	And he answeride, and seide to hym, Maister, Y haue kept alle these thingis fro my yongthe.
10:21	And Jhesus bihelde hym, and louede hym, and seide to hym, O thing faileth to thee; go thou, and sille alle thingis that thou hast, and yyue to pore men, and thou schalt haue tresoure in heuene; and come, sue thou me.
10:22	And he was ful sori in the word, and wente awei mornyng, for he hadde many possessiouns.
10:23	And Jhesus bihelde aboute, and seide to hise disciplis, Hou hard thei that han ritchessis schulen entre in to the kyngdom of God.
10:24	And the disciplis weren astonyed in hise wordis. And Jhesus eftsoone answeride, and seide `to hem, Ye litle children, hou hard it is for men that tristen in ritchessis to entre in to the kyngdom of God.
10:25	It is liyter a camele to passe thorou a nedlis iye, than a riche man to entre in to the kyngdom of God.
10:26	And thei wondriden more, and seiden among hem silf, And who may be sauyd?
10:27	And Jhesus bihelde hem, and seide, Anentis men it is impossible, but not anentis God; for alle thingis ben possible anentis God.
10:28	And Petir bigan to seie to hym, Lo! we han left alle thingis, and han sued thee.
10:29	Jhesus answeride, and seide, Treuli Y seie to you, ther is no man that leeueth hous, or britheren, or sistris, or fadir, or modir, or children, or feeldis for me and for the gospel,
10:30	which schal not take an hundrid fold so myche now in this tyme, housis, and britheren, and sistris, and modris, and children, and feeldis, with persecuciouns, and in the world to comynge euerlastynge lijf.
10:31	But many schulen be, the firste the last, and the last the firste.
10:32	And thei weren in the weie goynge vp to Jerusalem; and Jhesus wente bifor hem, and thei wondriden, and foleweden, and dredden. And eftsoone Jhesus took the twelue, and bigan to seie to hem, what thingis weren to come to hym.
10:33	For lo! we stien to Jerusalem, and mannus sone schal be bitraied to the princis of prestis, and to scribis, and to the eldre men; and thei schulen dampne hym bi deth, and thei schulen take hym to hethene men. And thei schulen scorne hym,
10:34	and bispete hym, and bete him; and thei schulen sle hym, and in the thridde dai he schal rise ayen.
10:35	And James and Joon, Zebedees sones, camen to hym, and seiden, Maister, we wolen, that what euer we axen, thou do to vs.
10:36	And he seide to hem, What wolen ye that Y do to you?
10:37	And thei seiden, Graunte to vs, that we sitten `the toon at thi riythalf, and the tother at thi left half, in thi glorie.
10:38	And Jhesus seide to hem, Ye witen not what ye axen; moun ye drynke the cuppe, which Y schal drynke, or be waischun with the baptym, in which Y am baptisid?
10:39	And thei seiden to hym, We moun. And Jhesus seide to hem, Ye schulen drynke the cuppe that Y drynke, and ye schulen be waschun with the baptym, in which Y am baptisid;
10:40	but to sitte at my riythalf or lefthalf is not myn to yyue to you, but to whiche it is maad redi.
10:41	And the ten herden, and bigunnen to haue indignacioun of James and Joon.
10:42	But Jhesus clepide hem, and seide to hem, Ye witen, that thei that semen to haue prynshode of folkis, ben lordis of hem, and the princes of hem han power of hem.
10:43	But it is not so among you, but who euer wole be maad gretter, schal be youre mynyster;
10:44	and who euer wole be the firste among you, schal be seruaunt of alle.
10:45	For whi mannus sone cam not, that it schulde be mynystrid to hym, but that he schulde mynystre, and yyue his lijf ayenbiyng for manye.
10:46	And thei camen to Jerico; and whanne he yede forth fro Jerico, and hise disciplis, and a ful myche puple, Barthymeus, a blynde man, the sone of Thimei, sat bisidis the weie, and beggide.
10:47	And whanne he herde, that it is Jhesus of Nazareth, he bigan to crie, and seie, Jhesu, the sone of Dauid, haue merci on me.
10:48	And manye thretneden hym, that he schulde be stille; and he criede myche the more, Jhesu, the sone of Dauid, haue merci on me.
10:49	And Jhesus stood, and comaundide hym to be clepid; and thei clepen the blynde man, and seien to hym, Be thou of betere herte, rise vp, he clepith thee.
10:50	And he castide awei his cloth, and skippide, and cam to hym.
10:51	And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hym, What wolt thou, that Y schal do to thee? The blynde man seide to hym, Maister, that Y se.
10:52	Jhesus seide to hym, Go thou, thi feith hath maad thee saaf. And anoon he saye, and suede hym in the weie.
