Mark - Chapter: 12

>
12:1And hee began to speake vnto them by parables. A certaine man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the wine fat, and built a towre, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a farre countrey.
12:2And at the season, he sent to the husbandmen a seruant, that he might receiue from the husbandmen of the fruite of the vineyard.
12:3And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away emptie.
12:4And againe, hee sent vnto them another seruant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
12:5And againe, he sent another, and him they killed: and many others, beating some, and killing some.
12:6Hauing yet therefore one sonne his welbeloued, he sent him also last vnto them, saying, They will reuerence my sonne.
12:7But those husbandmen said amongst themselues, This is the heire, come, let vs kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
12:8And they tooke him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
12:9What shall therefore the Lord of the vineyard doe? He will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will giue the vineyard vnto others.
12:10And haue ye not read this Scripture? The stone which the builders reiected, is become the head of the corner:
12:11This was the Lords doing, and it is maruellous in our eies.
12:12And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people, for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
12:13And they send vnto him certaine of the Pharises, and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
12:14And when they were come, they say vnto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth. Is it lawfull to giue tribute to Cesar, or not?
12:15Shall we giue, or shall we not giue? But he knowing their hypocrisie, said vnto them, Why tempt yee mee? Bring me a penny that I may see it.
12:16And they brought it: and he saith vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said vnto him, Cesars.
12:17And Iesus answering, said vnto them, Render to Cesar the things that are Cesars: and to God the things that are Gods. And they maruailed at him.
12:18Then come vnto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection, and they asked him, saying,
12:19Master, Moses wrote vnto vs, If a mans brother die, and leaue his wife behind him, and leaue no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise vp seed vnto his brother.
12:20Now there were seuen brethren: and the first tooke a wife, and dying left no seede.
12:21And the second tooke her, and died, neither left he any seed, and the third likewise.
12:22And the seuen had her, and left no seede: last of all the woman died also.
12:23In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seuen had her to wife.
12:24And Iesus answering, said vnto them, Doe ye not therefore erre, because yee know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
12:25For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are giuen in marriage: but are as the Angels which are in heauen.
12:26And as touching the dead, that they rise: haue ye not read in the booke of Moses, how in the bush God spake vnto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isahac, and the God of Iacob?
12:27Hee is not the God of the dead, but the God of the liuing: yee therefore doe greatly erre.
12:28And one of the Scribes came, and hauing heard them reasoning together, and perceiuing that he had answered them well, asked him which is the first commandement of all.
12:29And Iesus answered him, The first of al the commandements is, Heare, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord:
12:30And thou shalt loue the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy minde, and with all thy strength: This is the first commandement.
12:31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe: there is none other commandement greater then these.
12:32And the Scribe said vnto him, Well master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God, and there is none other but he.
12:33And to loue him with all the heart, and with all the vnderstanding, and with all the soule, and with all the strength, and to loue his neighbour as himselfe, is more then all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
12:34And when Iesus saw that he answered discreetly, hee saide vnto him, Thou art not far from the kingdome of God. And no man after that durst aske him any question.
12:35And Iesus answered, and said, while hee taught in the Temple, How say the Scribes that Christ is the sonne of Dauid?
12:36For Dauid himselfe said by the holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, til I make thine enemies thy footstoole.
12:37Dauid therefore himselfe calleth him Lord, and whence is hee then his sonne? And the common people heard him gladly.
12:38And he said vnto them in his doctrine, Beware of the Scribes, which loue to goe in long clothing, and loue salutations in the market places,
12:39And the chiefe seates in the Synagogues, and the vppermost roomes at feasts:
12:40Which deuoure widowes houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: These shall receiue greater damnation.
12:41And Iesus sate ouer against the treasurie, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasurie: and many that were rich, cast in much.
12:42And there came a certaine poore widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
12:43And he called vnto him his disciples, and saith vnto them, Uerily I say vnto you, that this poore widow hath cast more in, then all they which haue cast into the treasurie.
12:44For all they did cast in of their aboundance: but she of her want, did cast in all that she had, euen all her liuing.

12:1And he beganne to speake vnto them by parables. A [certayne] man planted a vineyarde, and compassed it about with an hedge, and ordeyned a wynepresse, and built a towre, and let it out vnto husbande men: and went into a straunge countrey.
12:2And when the tyme was come, he sent to the husbande men a seruaunt, that he myght receaue of the husbandmen, of the fruite of the vineyarde.
12:3And they caught hym, and beat hym, and sent hym away emptie.
12:4And moreouer, he sent vnto them another seruaunt: and at hym they cast stones, and brake his head, and sent him away agayne, all to reuiled.
12:5And agayne, he sent another, and hym they kylled: and many other, beatyng some, and kyllyng some.
12:6And so, when he had yet but one beloued sonne, he sent hym also at the last vnto them, saying: they wyll stande in awe of my sonne.
12:7But the husbandmen saide amongest them selues: this is the heyre, come, let vs kyll him, and the inheritaunce shalbe ours.
12:8And they toke hym, and kylled hym, and cast hym out of the vineyarde.
12:9What shall therfore, the Lorde of the vineyarde do? He shal come, and destroy the husbandmen, and wyll geue the vineyarde vnto other.
12:10Haue ye not read this Scripture? The stone which the builders dyd refuse, is become the chiefe stone of the corner:
12:11This is the Lordes doyng, and it is marueylous in our eyes.
12:12They went about also to take hym, and feared the people: For they knewe, that he had spoken the parable agaynst them. And they left hym, and went their way.
12:13And they sent vnto hym, certayne of the pharisees, and of the Herodians to take hym in his wordes.
12:14And assoone as they were come, they sayde vnto hym: Maister, we knowe that thou art true, & carest for no man, for thou considerest not the persons of men, but teachest the way of god truely: Is it lawfull to pay tribute to Caesar, or not?
12:15Ought we to geue, or ought we not to geue? But he seeyng their hypocrisie, sayde vnto them: Why tempt ye me? Bryng me a penie, that I may see it.
12:16And they brought it: And he sayth vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they sayde vnto hym: Caesars.
12:17And Iesus aunswered, and sayde vnto them: Geue to Caesar [the thynges] that belong to Caesar: and to God, [the thynges] which pertayne to God. And they marueyled at hym.
12:18There came also vnto hym, the Saducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and they asked hym, saying:
12:19Maister, Moyses wrote vnto vs, yf any mans brother dye, and leaue his wyfe behynde hym, & leaue no chyldren: that his brother shoulde take his wyfe, and rayse vp seede vnto his brother.
12:20There were seuen brethren: and the first toke a wyfe, and when he dyed, left no seede behynde hym.
12:21And the seconde toke her, and dyed, neither left any seede: And the thirde lykewyse.
12:22And seuen had her, and left no seede behynde them: Last of all, the wyfe dyed also.
12:23In the resurrection therfore, when they shall rise agayne, whose wyfe shall she be of them? for seuen had her to wife.
12:24And Iesus aunswered, and sayde vnto the: Do ye not therfore erre, because ye vnderstande not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?
12:25For when they shall ryse agayne from the dead, they neither marry, nor are geuen in maryage: but are as the Angels which are in heauen.
12:26As touchyng the dead, that they ryse agayne: haue ye not read in the booke of Moyses, howe in the bushe, God spake vnto him, saying: I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob?
12:27He is not the God of the dead, but God of the lyuyng. Ye therefore do greatly erre.
12:28And when there came one of the scribes, & had heard them disputyng together, and perceaued that he had aunswered them well, he asked him: which is the first of all the comaundementes.
12:29Iesus aunswered hym, the first of all the commaundementes is: Heare O Israel, The Lorde our God, is one Lorde:
12:30And thou shalt loue the Lorde thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy mynde, and with all thy strength. This is the first commaundement.
12:31And the seconde is lyke vnto this: Thou shalt loue thy neyghbour as thy selfe. There is none other commaundement greater then these.
12:32And the scribe sayde vnto hym: well maister, thou hast sayde the trueth, for there is one God, & there is none but he.
12:33And to loue hym with all the heart, and with all the vnderstandyng, & with all the soule, and with all the strength, and to loue a [mans] neyghbour as hym selfe, is greater then all the burnt offerynges and sacrifices.
12:34And when Iesus sawe that he aunswered discretely, he sayde vnto hym: Thou art not farre from the kingdome of God. And no man after that, durst aske hym any question.
12:35And Iesus aunswered and sayde, teachyng in the temple: howe say the scribes that Christe is ye sonne of Dauid?
12:36For Dauid hym selfe, inspired with the holy ghost, sayde: The Lorde saide to my Lorde, sit on my right hande, tyll I make thyne enemies thy footestoole.
12:37Dauid hym selfe calleth hym Lorde: and howe is he then his sonne? And much people hearde hym gladly.
12:38And he sayde vnto them in his doctrine, beware of the scribes, whiche desire to go in long clothyng, and salutations in the market places,
12:39And the chiefe seates in the congregations, and the vppermost rowmes at feastes,
12:40Which deuoure widdowes houses, & vnder a pretence, make long prayers: These shal receaue greater dampnatio.
12:41And when Iesus sate ouer agaynst the treasurie, he behelde howe the people put money into the treasurie: And many that were rich, cast in much.
12:42And there came a certayne poore widdowe, & she threwe in two mites, which make a farthyng.
12:43And he called vnto hym his disciples, and sayth vnto them: Ueryly I say vnto you, that this poore widdowe hath cast more in, then all they which haue cast into the treasurie.
12:44For they all, dyd cast in of their superfluitie: but she, of her pouertie, dyd cast in all that she had, euen all her lyuyng.

12:1And he began to speake vnto them in parables, A certaine man planted a vineyard, and copassed it with an hedge, and digged a pit for the winepresse, and built a tower in it, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a strange countrey.
12:2And at the time, he sent to the husbandmen a seruant, that he might receiue of the husbandmen of the fruite of the vineyard.
12:3But they tooke him, and beat him, and sent him away emptie.
12:4And againe he sent vnto them another seruant, and at him they cast stones, and brake his head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
12:5And againe he sent another, and him they slew, and many other, beating some, and killing some.
12:6Yet had he one sonne, his deare beloued: him also he sent the last vnto them, saying, They will reuerence my sonne.
12:7But ye husbandmen said among themselues, This is the heire: come, let vs kill him, and the inheritance shalbe ours.
12:8So they tooke him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
12:9What shall then the Lord of the vineyard doe? He will come and destroy these husbandmen, and giue the vineyard to others.
12:10Haue ye not read so much as this Scripture? The stone which the builders did refuse, is made the head of the corner.
12:11This was done of the Lord, and it is marueilous in our eyes.
12:12Then they went about to take him, but they feared the people: for they perceiued that he spake that parable against them: therefore they left him, and went their way.
12:13And they sent vnto him certaine of the Pharises, and of ye Herodians that they might take him in his talke.
12:14And when they came, they saide vnto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou considerest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God truely, Is it lawfull to giue tribute to Cesar, or not?
12:15Should we giue it, or should we not giue it? but he knew their hypocrisie, and said vnto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me a peny, that I may see it.
12:16So they brought it, and he said vnto them, Whose is this image and superscription? and they said vnto him, Cesars.
12:17Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, Giue to Cesar the things that are Cesars, and to God, those that are Gods: and they marueiled at him.
12:18Then came the Sadduces vnto him, (which say, there is no resurrection) and they asked him, saying,
12:19Master, Moses wrote vnto vs, If any mans brother die, and leaue his wife, and leaue no children, that his brother should take his wife, and rayse vp seede vnto his brother.
12:20There were seuen brethren, and the first tooke a wife, and when he died, left no issue.
12:21Then the seconde tooke her, and he died, neither did he yet leaue issue, and the third likewise:
12:22So those seuen had her, and left no yssue: last of all the wife died also.
12:23In the resurrection then, when they shall rise againe, whose wife shall she be of them? for seuen had her to wife.
12:24Then Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, Are ye not therefore deceiued, because ye knowe not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?
12:25For when they shall rise againe from the dead, neither men marry, nor wiues are married, but are as the Angels which are in heauen.
12:26And as touching the dead, that they shall rise againe, haue ye not read in the booke of Moses, howe in the bush God spake vnto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Iacob?
12:27God is not ye God of the dead, but the God of the liuing. Ye are therefore greatly deceiued.
12:28Then came one of the Scribes that had heard them disputing together, and perceiuing that he had answered them well, he asked him, Which is the first commandement of all?
12:29Iesus answered him, The first of all the commandements is, Heare, Israel, The Lord our God is the onely Lord.
12:30Thou shalt therefore loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, and with all thy minde, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandement.
12:31And the second is like, that is, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe. There is none other commandement greater then these.
12:32Then that Scribe said vnto him, Well, Master, thou hast saide the trueth, that there is one God, and that there is none but he,
12:33And to loue him with all the heart, and with all the vnderstanding, and with all the soule, and with all the strength, and to loue his neighbour as himselfe, is more then all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
12:34Then when Iesus saw that he answered discreetely, he saide vnto him, Thou art not farre from the kingdome of God. And no man after that durst aske him any question.
12:35And Iesus answered and said teaching in the Temple, Howe say the Scribes that Christ is the sonne of Dauid?
12:36For Dauid himselfe said by ye holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footestoole.
12:37Then Dauid himselfe calleth him Lord: by what meanes is he then his sonne? and much people heard him gladly.
12:38Moreouer he saide vnto them in his doctrine, Beware of the Scribes which loue to goe in long robes, and loue salutations in the markets,
12:39And the chiefe seates in the Synagogues, and the first roumes at feastes,
12:40Which deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers. These shall receiue the greater damnation.
12:41And as Iesus sate ouer against the treasurie, he beheld how the people cast money into the treasurie, and many rich men cast in much.
12:42And there came a certaine poore widowe, and she threw in two mites, which make a quadrin.
12:43Then he called vnto him his disciples, and said vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, that this poore widowe hath cast more in, then all they which haue cast into the treasurie.
12:44For they all did cast in of their superfluitie: but she of her pouertie did cast in all that she had, euen all her liuing.
