15:1	And straightway in the morning the chiefe Priests helde a consultation with the Elders and Scribes, and the whole Councell, and bound Iesus, and caried him away, and deliuered him to Pilate.
15:2	And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Iewes? And hee answering, said vnto him, Thou sayest it.
15:3	And the chiefe Priests accused him of many things: but hee answered nothing.
15:4	And Pilate asked him againe, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witnesse against thee.
15:5	But Iesus yet answered nothing, so that Pilate marueiled.
15:6	Now at that Feast he released vnto them one prisoner, whomsoeuer they desired.
15:7	And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
15:8	And the multitude crying alowd, began to desire him to doe as he had euer done vnto them.
15:9	But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release vnto you the King of the Iewes?
15:10	(For hee knew that the chiefe Priests had deliuered him for enuie.)
15:11	But the chiefe Priests mooued the people, that hee should rather release Barabbas vnto them.
15:12	And Pilate answered, and said againe vnto them, What will yee then that I shall do vnto him whom ye call the King of the Iewes?
15:13	And they cried out againe, Crucifie him.
15:14	Then Pilate saide vnto them, Why, what euill hath hee done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucifie him.
15:15	And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas vnto them, and deliuered Iesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.
15:16	And the souldiers led him away into the hall, called Pretorium, and they call together the whole band.
15:17	And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crowne of thornes, and put it about his head,
15:18	And beganne to salute him, Haile King of the Iewes.
15:19	And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit vpon him, and bowing their knees, worshipped him.
15:20	And when they had mocked him, they tooke off the purple from him, and put his owne clothes on him, and led him out to crucifie him.
15:21	And they compell one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, comming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to beare his Crosse.
15:22	And they bring him vnto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, the place of a skull.
15:23	And they gaue him to drinke, wine mingled with myrrhe: but he receiued it not.
15:24	And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots vpon them, what euery man should take.
15:25	And it was the third houre, and they crucified him.
15:26	And the superscription of his accusation was written ouer, THE KING OF THE IEWES.
15:27	And with him they crucifie two theeues, the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
15:28	And the Scripture was fulfilled, which sayeth, And hee was numbred with the transgressours.
15:29	And they that passed by, railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah thou that destroyest the Temple, and buildest it in three dayes,
15:30	Saue thy selfe, and come downe from the Crosse.
15:31	Likewise also the chiefe Priests mocking, said among themselues with the Scribes, He saued others, himselfe he cannot saue.
15:32	Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the Crosse, that we may see and beleeue: And they that were crucified with him, reuiled him.
15:33	And when the sixth houre was come, there was darkenesse ouer the whole land, vntill the ninth houre.
15:34	And at the ninth houre, Iesus cryed with a loude voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lamasabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
15:36	And one ranne, and filled a spunge full of vineger, and put it on a reed, and gaue him to drinke, saying, Let alone, let vs see whether Elias will come to take him downe.
15:37	And Iesus cryed with a loude voice, and gaue vp the ghost.
15:38	And the vaile of the Temple was rent in twaine, from the top to the bottome.
15:39	And when the Centurion which stood ouer against him, saw that hee so cryed out, and gaue vp the ghost, hee said, Truely this man was the Sonne of God.
15:40	There were also women looking on afarre off, among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Iames the lesse, and of Ioses, and Salome:
15:41	Who also when hee was in Galile, followed him, and ministred vnto him, and many other women which came vp with him vnto Hierusalem.
15:42	And now when the euen was come, (because it was the Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath)
15:43	Ioseph of Arimathea, an honourable counseller, which also waited for the kingdome of God, came, and went in boldly vnto Pilate, and craued the body of Iesus.
15:44	And Pilate marueiled if he were already dead, and calling vnto him the Centurion, hee asked him whether hee had beene any while dead.
15:45	And when he knew it of the Centurion, he gaue the body to Ioseph.
15:46	And hee bought fine linnen, and tooke him downe, and wrapped him in the linnen, and laide him in a sepulchre, which was hewen out of a rocke, and rolled a stone vnto the doore of the sepulchre.
15:47	And Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Ioses behelde where he was laide.


15:1	And anone in the dawnyng, the hye priestes held a councel, with the elders, and the scribes, and the whole congregation, and bound Iesus, and ledde hym away, and deliuered hym to Pilate.
15:2	And Pilate asked hym: Art thou the kyng of the Iewes? And he aunswered and sayde vnto hym: thou sayest it?
15:3	And the hye priestes accused hym of many thynges.
15:4	So Pilate asked hym agayne, saying: Aunswerest thou nothyng? Beholde, howe many thynges they witnesse agaynst thee.
15:5	Iesus yet aunswered nothyng, so that Pilate marueyled.
15:6	At that feast, Pilate dyd delyuer vnto them a prisoner, whomsoeuer they woulde desire.
15:7	And there was one, that was named Barabbas, which lay bounde, with them that made insurrection: Which [men] had committed murther also in the insurrection.

15:13	And they cryed agayne, crucifie hym.
15:14	Pilate sayde vnto them: What euyll hath he done? And they cryed the more feruently, crucifie hym.
15:15	And so Pilate, wyllyng to content the people, let loose Barabbas vnto them, and deliuered vp Iesus, when he had scourged hym, for to be crucified.
15:16	And the souldiers led hym away, into the hall, called Pr?torium, and called together the whole bande [of souldiers:]
15:17	And they clothed hym with purple, and they platted a crowne of thornes, and crowned hym withall,
15:18	And began to salute hym: Hayle kyng of the Iewes.
15:19	And they smote hym on the head with a reede, & did spit vpon him, and bowed their knees, and worshipped hym.
15:20	And when they had mocked hym, they toke the purple of hym, and put his owne clothes on hym, and led hym out to crucifie hym.
15:21	And they compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Cyrene (commyng out of the fielde, the father of Alexander and Rufus) to beare his crosse.
15:22	And they brought hym to a place named Golgotha, which is, if a man interprete it, the place of [dead mens] sculles.
15:23	And they gaue hym to drynke, wyne myngled with myrre: but he receaued it not.
15:24	And when they had crucified hym, they parted his garmentes, castyng lottes vpon them, what euery man shoulde take.
15:25	And it was the thyrde houre, and they crucified hym.
15:26	And the title of his cause was written: THE KYNG OF THE IEVVES.
15:27	And they crucifed with hym two thieues: the one on the ryght hande, and the other on his left.
15:28	And the Scripture was fulfylled which sayth: He was counted among the wycked.
15:29	And they that went by, rayled on him, wagging their heades, and saying: A wretche, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three dayes,
15:30	Saue thy selfe, and come downe from the crosse.
15:31	Lykewyse also mocked hym the hye priestes among them selues, with the scribes, and sayde: He saued other men, hym selfe he can not saue.
15:32	Let Christe the kyng of Israel descende nowe from the crosse, that we may see, and beleue. And they that were crucified with hym, checked hym also.
15:33	And when the sixth houre was come, darknesse arose ouer all the earth, vntill the nynth houre.
15:34	And at the nynth houre, Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, yf one interprete it, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stoode by, whe they hearde that, sayde: Beholde, he calleth for Elias.
15:36	And one ran, and fylled a spunge full of vineger, and put it on a reede, & gaue hym to drynke, saying: let hym alone, let vs see whether Elias wyll come and take hym downe.
15:37	But Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, and gaue vp the ghost.
15:38	And the vayle of the temple dyd rent in two peeces, from the toppe to the bottome.
15:39	And when the Centurion, which stoode before hym, sawe, that he so cryed, and gaue vp the ghost, he sayde: Truely this man was the sonne of God.
15:40	There were also women a good way of, beholdyng hym: among whom was Marie Magdalene, and Marie the mother of Iames the litle, and of Ioses, and Salome.
15:41	Which also when he was in Galilee, had folowed hym, and ministred vnto hym: and many other women, which came vp with hym vnto Hierusalem.
15:42	And nowe when the euen was come, (because it was the day of preparyng, that goeth before the Sabboth)
15:43	Ioseph [of the citie] of Aramathia, a noble councellour, which also loked for the kyngdome of God, came, and went in boldely vnto Pilate, and begged of hym the body of Iesu.
15:44	And Pilate marueyled that he was alredy dead: and called vnto hym the Centurion, and asked of hym, whether he had ben any whyle dead.
15:45	And when he knewe the trueth of the Centurion, he gaue the body to Ioseph.
15:46	And he bought a lynnen cloth, & toke hym downe, and wrapped hym in the lynnen cloth, & layde him in a sepulchre, that was hewe out of the rocke, & roulled a stone vnto the doore of ye sepulchre.
15:47	And Marie Magdalene, and Marie Ioses, behelde where he was layde.
