15:1	And anone in the dawninge the hye Prestes helde a counsell wt the elders & the Scrybes, & the whole congregacion, & bounde Iesus, & ledde him awaye, & deliuered him to Pilate.
15:2	And Pilate asked him: art thou the kynge of the Iewes? And he answered, & sayd vnto hym: thou sayest it.
15:3	And the hye prestes accused him of many thinges.
15:4	So Pilate asked him agayne, sayinge: Answerest thou nothing? Beholde, how many thinges they lay vnto thy charge.
15:5	Iesus yet answered nothing, so that Pilate merueyled.
15:6	At that feast Pilate dyd delyuer vnto them a presoner: whomsoeuer they wolde desyre.
15:7	And ther was one that was named Barrabas, whych laye bounde with them that made insurreccyon: he had commytted murther.
15:8	And the people called vnto him, and began to desyre him, that he wolde do, accordynge as he had euer done vnto them.
15:9	Pylate answered them sayenge: Will ye that I let lowse vnto you the kyng of the Iewes?
15:10	For he knewe, that the hye Prestes had delyuered him of enuy.
15:11	But the hye prestes moued the people, that he shulde rather delyuer Barrabas vnto them.
15:12	Pylate answered agayne, and sayde vnto them: What wyll ye then that I do vnto him, whom ye call the kyng of the Iewes?
15:13	And they cryed agayne: crucifye him:
15:14	Pylate sayd vnto them, What euyll hath he done: And they cryed the moare feruentlye: Crucifye hym:
15:15	And so Pylate wyllinge to content the people, let lose Barrabas vnto them & delyuered vp Iesus (when he had scourged hym) for to be crucifyed.
15:16	And the soudyers leed him awaye into the commen hall, and called together the whole multitude,
15:17	& they clothed him with purple, & they platted a croune of thornes, & crouned him withall,
15:18	& beganne to salute him: Hayle kynge of the Iewes.
15:19	And they smote hym, on the heed wt a rede and dyd spitt vpon hym & bowed their knees, & worshyped him.
15:20	And when they had mocked him, they toke the purple of hym, & put his awne clothes on him, & ledde hym out, to crucifye him.
15:21	And they compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Cyrene (the father of Alexander and Rufus) which came out of the felde, to beare his crosse.
15:22	And they brought him to a place named Golgotha (whych is yf a man interprete it: the place of deed mens sculles)
15:23	and they gaue him to drinke, wyne mingled wyth myrre, but he receaued it not.
15:24	And when they had crucifyed him they parted hys garmentes, castinge lotes vpon them, what euery man shulde take.
15:25	And it was aboute the third houre, & they crucifyed him.
15:26	And the tytle of his cause was wrytten: The kynge of the Iewes.
15:27	And they crucified with him two theues. the one on the right hande, & the other on his lyfte.
15:28	And the scrypture was fulfylled which sayeth: he was counted amonge the wycked.
15:29	And they that went by, rayled on hym: wagging their heedes, and saying: A wretche thou that destroyest the temple, and byldest it in thre dayes:
15:30	saue thy selfe, & come doune from the crosse.
15:31	Lykewyse also mocked hym the hye Prestes amonge them selues with the Scrybes & sayde, he saued other men, hym selfe he cannot saue.
15:32	Let Christ the kynge of Israell descende now from the crosse, that we maye se, & beleue. And they that were crucifyed with him checked him also.
15:33	And when the syxte houre was come, darcknes arose ouer all the erth, vntyll the nynth houre.
15:34	And at the nynth houre Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? whych is (yf one interpret it) my God, my God why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some of them that stode by, when they hearde that, sayd: beholde, he calleth for Helias.
15:36	And one ran, and fylled a sponge full of veneger, and put it on a rede, & gaue him to drincke, sayinge: let him alone, let vs se, whether Helias wyll come and take hym downe:
15:37	But Iesus cryed with a loude voyce, and gaue vp the goost.
15:38	And the vayle of the temple dyd rent in two peces, from the toppe to the bottome.
15:39	And when the Centurion (which stode before him) sawe, that he so cryed, and gaue vp the goost, he sayde: truly this man, was the sonne of God.
15:40	Ther were also wemen a good waye of, beholdinge him: amonge whom was Mary Magdalen, and Mary the mother of Iames the lytle: & of Ioses, & Mary Salome
15:41	(which also when he was in Galile had folowed him & mynistred vnto him) and many other wemen, whych came vp with him vnto Ierusalem.
15:42	And now when the euen was come (because it was the daye of preparing that goeth before the Sabboth)
15:43	Ioseph of the cite of Aramathia, a noble Councellour which also loked for the kyngdome of God, came, & went in boldely vnto Pilate, & begged of hym the body of Iesu.
15:44	And Pilate merueled, that he was alredy deed, and called vnto him the Centurion, and asked of him, whether he had bene eny whyle deed.
15:45	And when he knewe the trueth of the Centurion, he gaue the body to Ioseph.
15:46	And he bought a lynnen clothe, and toke him downe, and wrapped him in the lynnen clothe, and layde him in a sepulcre, that was hewen out of the rocke.
15:47	And Mary Magdalen and Mary Ioses behelde where he was layde.

15:4	But Pilat eftsoone axide hym, and seide, Answerist thou no thing? Seest thou in hou many thingis thei accusen thee?
15:5	But Jhesus answeride no more, so that Pilat wondride.
15:6	But bi the feeste dai he was wont to leeue to hem oon of men boundun, whom euer thei axiden.
15:7	And `oon ther was that was seid Barabas, that was boundun with men of dissencioun, that hadden don manslauytir in seducioun.
15:8	And whanne the puple was gon vp, he bigan to preie, as he euer more dide to hem.
15:9	And Pilat answeride `to hem, and seide, Wolen ye Y leeue to you the kyng of Jewis?
15:10	For he wiste, that the hiyeste prestis hadden takun hym bi enuye.
15:11	But the bischopis stireden the puple, that he schulde rather leeue to hem Barabas.
15:12	And eftsoone Pilat answerde, and seide to hem, What thanne wolen ye that Y schal do to the kyng of Jewis?
15:13	And thei eftsoone crieden, Crucifie hym.
15:14	But Pilat seide to hem, What yuel hath he don? And thei crieden the more, Crucifie hym.
15:15	And Pilat, willynge to make aseeth to the puple, lefte to hem Barabas, and bitok to hem Jhesu, betun with scourgis, to be crucified.
15:16	And knyytis ledden hym with ynneforth, in to the porche of the mote halle. And thei clepiden togidir al the cumpany of knyytis,
15:17	and clothiden hym with purpur. And thei writhen a coroun of thornes, and puttiden on hym.
15:18	And thei bigunnen to grete hym, and seiden, Heile, thou kyng of Jewis.
15:19	And thei smyten his heed with a reed, and bispatten hym; and thei kneliden, and worschipiden hym.
15:20	And aftir that thei hadden scorned him, thei vnclothiden hym of purpur, and clothiden hym with hise clothis, and ledden out hym, to crucifie hym.
15:21	And thei compelliden a man that passide the weie, that cam fro the toun, Symount of Syrenen, the fader of Alisaundir and of Rufe, to bere his cross.
15:22	And thei ledden hym in to a place Golgatha, that is to seie, the place of Caluari.
15:23	And thei yauen to hym to drynke wyn meddlid with mirre, and he took not.
15:24	And thei crucifieden him, and departiden hise clothis, and kesten lot on tho, who schulde take what.
15:25	And it was the thridde our, and thei crucifieden hym.
15:26	And the titil of his cause was writun, Kyng of Jewis.
15:27	And thei crucifien with hym twei theues, oon `at the riythalf and oon at his lefthalf.
15:28	And the scripture was fulfillid that seith, And he is ordeyned with wickid men.
15:29	And as thei passiden forth, thei blasfemyden hym, mouynge her heedis, and seiynge, Vath! thou that distriest the temple of God, and in `thre daies bildist it ayen;
15:30	come adoun fro the crosse, and make thi silf saaf.
15:31	Also the hiyeste prestis scorneden hym ech to othir with the scribis, and seiden, He made othir men saaf, he may not saue hym silf.
15:32	Crist, kyng of Israel, come doun now fro the cross, that we seen, and bileuen. And thei that weren crucified with hym, dispiseden hym.
15:33	And whanne the sixte hour was come, derknessis weren made on al the erthe til in to the nynthe our.
15:34	And in the nynthe our Jhesus criede with a greet vois, and seide, Heloy, Heloy, lamasabatany, that is to seie, My God, my God, whi hast thou forsakun me?
15:35	And summe of men that stoden aboute herden, and seiden, Lo! he clepith Helye.
15:36	And oon ranne, and fillide a spounge with vynegre, and puttide aboute to a reede, and yaf to hym drynke, and seide, Suffre ye, se we, if Helie come to do hym doun.
15:37	And Jhesus yaf out a greet cry, and diede.
15:38	And the veil of the temple was rent atwo fro the hiyeste to bynethe.
15:39	But the centurien that stood forn ayens siy, that he so criynge hadde diede, and seide, Verili, this man was Goddis sone.
15:40	And ther weren also wymmen biholdynge fro afer, among whiche was Marie Maudeleyn, and Marie, the modir of James the lesse, and of Joseph, and of Salome.
15:41	And whanne Jhesus was in Galilee, thei folewiden hym, and mynystriden to hym, and many othere wymmen, that camen vp togidir with him to Jerusalem.
15:42	And whanne euentid was come, for it was the euentid which is bifor the sabat,
15:43	Joseph of Armathie, the noble decurioun, cam, and he abood the rewme of God; and booldli he entride to Pilat, and axide the bodi of Jhesu.
15:44	But Pilat wondride, if he were now deed.
15:45	And whanne the centurion was clepid, he axide hym, if he were deed; and whanne he knewe of the centurion, he grauntide the bodi of Jhesu to Joseph.
15:46	And Joseph bouyte lynnen cloth, and took hym doun, and wlappide in the lynnen cloth, and leide hym in a sepulcre that was hewun of a stoon, and walewide a stoon to the dore of the sepulcre.
15:47	And Marie Maudeleyne and Marie of Joseph bihelden, where he was leid.

15:2	And Pylate axed him: Art thou the kynge of the Iewes? He answered, and sayde vnto him: Thou sayest it.

15:4	But Pylate axed him agayne, and sayde: Answerest thou nothinge? Beholde, how sore they laye to yi charge.
15:5	Neuertheles Iesus answered nomore, in so moch yt Pylate marueyled.
15:6	At that feast of Easter he was wonte to delyuer vnto them a presoner, whom so euer they wolde desyre.
15:7	There was i preson with the sedicious, one called Barrabas, which in the vproure had committed murthur.
15:8	And the people wente vp, and prayed him, that he wolde do, as he was wonte.
15:9	Pylate answered them: wyl ye that I geue lowse vnto you the kynge of the Iewes?
15:10	For he knew, that ye hye prestes had delyuered him of envye.
15:11	But the hye prestes moued ye people, that he shulde rather geue Barrabas lowse vnto them.
15:12	Pylate answered agayne, and sayde vnto them: What wil ye the that I do vnto him, whom ye accuse to be kynge of the Iewes?
15:13	They cried agayne: Crucifie hi.
15:14	Pylate sayde vnto the: What euell hath he done? But they cried yet moch more: Crucifie him.
15:15	So Pylate thought to satisfie the people, and gaue Barrabas lowse vnto them, and delyuered the Iesus, to be scourgd & crucified.
15:16	And the soudyers led him in to the como hall, and called the whole multitude together,
15:17	and clothed him with purple, and plated a crowne of thorne, and crowned him withall,
15:18	and beganne to salute him: Hayle kynge of the Iewes.
15:19	And smote him vpon the heade with a rede, and spytted vpo him, and fell vpo the kne, & worshipped him.
15:20	And wha they had mocked him, they toke ye purple of him, and put his clothes vpon him, & led him out, that they might crucifye him.
15:21	And they compelled one that passed by, called Symon of Cyren (which came from the felde, and was the father of Alexander and Ruffus) to beare his crosse.
15:22	And they brought him to the place Golgatha, which is by interpretacion: a place of deed mens skulles.
15:23	And they gaue him wyne myxted wt myrre, to drynke, & he toke it not.

15:26	And the tytle of his cause was wrytte ouer aboue him (namely:) The kynge of the Iewes.
15:27	And they crucified him wt two murtherers, one at ye right hande, and one at the left.
15:28	Then was the scrypture fulfilled, which sayeth: He was couted amonge the euell doers.
15:29	And they that wete by, reuyled him, and wagged their heades, and sayde: Fye vpon the, how goodly breakest thou downe ye teple, & buyldest it agayne in thre dayes?
15:30	Helpe yi self now, & come downe fro the crosse.
15:31	The hye prestes also in like maner laughed him to scorne amonge the selues, with the scrybes, & sayde: He hath helped other, himself can he not helpe.
15:32	Yf he be Christ and ye kynge of Israel, let him come downe now fro the crosse, yt we maye se it, & beleue. And they yt were crucified wt hi, checked hi also.
15:33	And wha it was aboute the sixte houre, there was a darcknesse ouer the whole lode, tyll aboute ye nyenth houre.
15:34	And aboute ye nyenth houre Iesus cried loude, and sayde: Eli, Eli, lamma asabthani? which is interpreted: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
15:35	And some that stode by, whan they herde yt, they sayde: Beholde, he calleth Elias.
15:36	Then rane there one, & fylled a spoge wt vyneger, & stickte it vpo a rede, & gaue hi to drynke, & sayde: Holde styll, let se, whether Elias wil come, and take him downe.
15:37	But Iesus cried loude, and gaue vp the goost.
15:38	And the vale of the teple rent in two peces, from aboue tyll beneth.
15:39	The captayne that stode thereby ouer agaynst him, wha he sawe yt he gaue vp the goost with soch a crye, he sayde: Verely this man was Gods sonne.
15:40	And there were wemen there also, which behelde this afarre of, amoge who was Mary Magdalene, & Mary of Iames ye litle, & the mother of Ioses, & Salome,
15:41	which had folowed him wha he was in Galile, and mynistred vnto hi: & many other yt wete vp wt hi to Ierusalem.
15:42	And at euen (for so moch as it was the daye of preparinge, which is the fore Sabbath)
15:43	there came one Ioseph of Arimathia, a worshipfull Senatoure (which loked also for the kyngdome of God) & wete in boldely vnto Pilate, & axed ye body of Iesus.
15:44	But Pylate marueyled yt he was deed all ready, & called ye captayne, & axed hi, whether he had loge bene deed.
15:45	And wha he had gotten knowlege of the captayne, he gaue Ioseph ye body.
15:46	And he bought a lynne cloth, & toke him downe, & wrapped hi in ye lynne clothe, & layed him in a sepulcre, which was hewe out of a rocke, & rolled a stone before ye dore of ye sepulcre.
15:47	But Mary Magdalene and Mary Ioses behelde, where he was layed.
