Luke - Chapter: 1


1:1	Forasmuch as many haue taken in hande to set foorth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely beleeued among vs,
1:2	Euen as they deliuered them vnto vs, which from the beginning were eye-witnesses, & ministers of the word:
1:3	It seemed good to me also, hauing had perfect vnderstanding of things from the very first, to write vnto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,
1:4	That thou mightest know the certainetie of those things wherein thou hast bene instructed.
1:5	There was in the dayes of Herode the king of Iudea, a certaine Priest, named Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
1:6	And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the Commandements and ordinances of the Lord, blamelesse.
1:7	And they had no childe, because that Elizabeth was barren, and they both were now well striken in yeeres.
1:8	And it came to passe, that while he executed the Priests office before God in the order of his course,
1:9	According to the custome of the Priests office, his lot was to burne incense when he went into the Temple of the Lord.
1:10	And the whole multitude of the people were praying without, at the time of incense.
1:11	And there appeared vnto him an Angel of the Lord, standing on the right side of the Altar of incense.
1:12	And when Zacharias sawe him, hee was troubled, and feare fell vpon him.
1:13	But the Angel said vnto him, Feare not, Zacharias, for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall beare thee a sonne, and thou shalt call his name Iohn.
1:14	And thou shalt haue ioy and gladnesse, and many shall reioyce at his birth:
1:15	For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shal drinke neither wine, nor strong drinke, and he shall bee filled with the holy Ghost, euen from his mothers wombe.
1:16	And many of the children of Israel shall hee turne to the Lord their God.
1:17	And hee shall goe before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turne the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisedome of the iust, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
1:18	And Zacharias said vnto the Angel, Whereby shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife well striken in yeeres.
1:19	And the Angel answering, said vnto him, I am Gabriel that stand in the presence of God, and am sent to speake vnto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.
1:20	And behold, thou shalt be dumbe, and not able to speake, vntill the day that these things shall bee performed, because thou beleeuest not my words, which shall bee fulfilled in their season.
1:21	And the people waited for Zacharias, and maruelled that hee taried so long in the temple.
1:22	And when he came out, he could not speake vnto them: and they perceiued that he had seene a vision in the temple: for he beckened vnto them, and remained speechlesse.
1:23	And it came to passe, that as soone as the dayes of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his owne house.
1:24	And after those dayes his wife Elizabeth conceiued, and hid her selfe fiue moneths, saying,
1:25	Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the dayes wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproch among men.
1:26	And in the sixt moneth, the Angel Gabriel was sent from God, vnto a citie of Galilee, named Nazareth,
1:27	To a virgine espoused to a man whose name was Ioseph, of the house of Dauid, and the virgins name was Marie.
1:28	And the Angel came in vnto her, and said, Haile thou that art highly fauoured, the Lord is with thee: Blessed art thou among women.
1:29	And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her minde what maner of salutation this should be.
1:30	And the Angel said vnto her, Feare not, Marie, for thou hast found fauour with God.
1:31	And behold, thou shalt conceiue in thy wombe, and bring forth a sonne, and shalt call his name Iesus.
1:32	He shall be great, and shall be called the sonne of the Highest, and the Lord God shall giue vnto him the throne of his father Dauid.
1:33	And hee shall reigne ouer the house of Iacob for euer, and of his kingdome there shall be no end.
1:34	Then said Marie vnto the Angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
1:35	And the Angel answered and said vnto her, The holy Ghost shall come vpon thee, and the power of the Highest shall ouershadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing which shall bee borne of thee, shall bee called the sonne of God.
1:36	And behold, thy cousin Elizabeth, she hath also conceiued a sonne in her old age, and this is the sixt moneth with her, who was called barren.
1:37	For with God no thing shall be vnpossible.
1:38	And Marie said, Behold the handmaide of the Lord, be it vnto me according to thy word: and the Angel departed from her.
1:39	And Marie arose in those dayes, and went into the hill countrey with haste, into a citie of Iuda,
1:40	And entred into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elizabeth.
1:41	And it came to passe that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Marie, the babe leaped in her wombe, and Elizabeth was filled with the holy Ghost.
1:42	And she spake out with a loud voyce, and saide, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruite of thy wombe.
1:43	And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to mee?
1:44	For loe, assoone as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine eares, the babe leaped in my wombe for ioy.
1:45	And blessed is she that beleeued, for there shalbe a performance of those things, which were told her from the Lord.
1:46	And Marie said, My soule doth magnifie the Lord.
1:47	And my spirit hath reioyced in God my sauiour.
1:48	For hee hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for behold, from hencefoorth all generations shall call me blessed.
1:49	For he that is mighty hath done to mee great things, and holy is his Name.
1:50	And his mercy is on them that feare him, from generation to generation.
1:51	Hee hath shewed strength with his arme, he hath scattered the proud, in the imagination of their hearts.
1:52	He hath put downe the mighty from their seates, and exalted them of low degree.
1:53	Hee hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich hee hath sent emptie away.
1:54	Hee hath holpen his seruant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy,
1:55	As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for euer.
1:56	And Mary abode with her about three moneths, and returned to her owne house.
1:57	Now Elizabeths full time came, that shee should be deliuered, and shee brought foorth a sonne.
1:58	And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy vpon her, and they reioyced with her.
1:59	And it came to passe that on the eight day they came to circumcise the childe, and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
1:60	And his mother answered, and said, Not so, but he shalbe called Iohn.
1:61	And they said vnto her, There is none of thy kinred that is called by this name.
1:62	And they made signes to his father, how he would haue him called.
1:63	And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is Iohn: and they marueiled all.
1:64	And his mouth was opened immediatly, and his tongue loosed, and hee spake, and praised God.
1:65	And feare came on all that dwelt round about them, and all these sayings were noised abroad thorowout all the hill countrey of Iudea.
1:66	And all they that had heard them, layde them vp in their hearts, saying, What maner of childe shal this be? And the hand of the Lord was with him.
1:67	And his father Zacharias was filled with the holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
1:68	Blessed bee the Lord God of Israel, for hee hath visited and redeemed his people,
1:69	And hath raised vp an horne of saluation for vs, in the house of his seruant Dauid,
1:70	As he spake by the mouth of his holy Prophets, which haue bene since the world began:
1:71	That wee should be saued from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate vs,
1:72	To performe the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy Couenant,
1:73	The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
1:74	That hee would grant vnto vs, that wee beeing deliuered out of the hands of our enemies, might serue him without feare,
1:75	In holinesse and righteousnesse before him, all the dayes of our life.
1:76	And thou childe shalt bee called the Prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt goe before the face of the Lord to prepare his wayes.
1:77	To giue knowledge of saluation vnto his people, by the remission of their sinnes,
1:78	Through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the day-spring from on high hath visited vs,
1:79	To giue light to them that sit in darknes, and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
1:80	And the childe grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts, till the day of his shewing vnto Israel.


1:1	For so moch as many haue taken in hande, to set forth ye wordes of the actes that are come to passe amonge vs,
1:2	like as they delyuered the vnto vs, which from the begynnynge sawe them their selues, and were mynisters of the worde,
1:3	I thought it good (after that I had diligently searched out all from the begynnynge) to wryte the same orderly vnto the (good Theophilus)
1:4	that thou mightest knowe the certete of ye wordes, wherof thou art infourmed.
1:5	In the tyme of Herode kynge of Iewry, there was a prest named Zachary of the course of Abia: and his wife of the doughters of Aaron, & hir name Elizabeth.
1:6	They were both righteous before God, and walked in all the commaundementes and statutes of the LORDE vnreproueably.
1:7	And they had no childe, for Elizabeth was baren, and they were both well stricken in age.
1:8	And it came to passe as he executed the prestes office before God whan his course came
1:9	(acordinge to the custome of the presthode) it fell to his lott to burne incense.
1:10	And he wente in to the temple of the LORDE, and the whole multitude of the people was without in prayer, whyle the incense was aburnynge.
1:11	And the angell of the LORDE appeared vnto him, and stode on the right syde of the altare of incese.
1:12	And whan Zachary sawe him, he was abasshed, & there came a feare vpon him.
1:13	But the angell sayde vnto him: Feare not Zachary, for thy prayer is herde. And yi wife Elizabeth shal beare the a sonne, whose name thou shalt call Ihon,
1:14	& thou shalt haue ioye and gladnesse: and many shal reioyce at his byrth,
1:15	for he shal be greate before the LORDE. Wyne and stronge drynke shal he not drynke. And he shalbe fylled wt the holy goost, euen in his mothers wombe.
1:16	And many of the children of Israel shal he turne vnto the LORDE their God.
1:17	And he shal go before him in the sprete and power of Elias, to turne the hertes of ye fathers vnto the children, and the vnfaithfull vnto the wyssdome of the righteous, to make the people ready for the LORDE.
1:18	And Zachary sayde vnto the Angel: Wherby shal I knowe this? For I am olde, and my wife well stricken in age.
1:19	The angell answered, and sayde vnto him: I am Gabriell that stonde before God, and am sent to speake vnto the, and to shewe the these glad tydinges.
1:20	And beholde, thou shalt be domme, and not able to speake, vntyll the daye that this come to passe, because thou hast not beleued my wordes, which shalbe fulfylled in their season.
1:21	And the people wayted for Zachary, and marueyled, that he taried so longe in the teple.
1:22	And wha he wete out, he coude not speake vnto them. And they perceaued, that he had sene a vision in the teple. And he beckened vnto them, and remayned speachlesse.
1:23	And it fortuned wha the tyme of his office was out, he wente home in to his house.
1:24	And after those dayes Elizabeth his wife conceaued, and hyd hir self fyue monethes, & sayde:
1:25	Thus hath ye LORDE done vnto me in ye dayes, wherin he hath loked vpo me, to take awaye fro me my rebuke amoge men.
1:26	And in the sixte moneth was the angell Gabriel sent from God in to a cite of Galile, called Nazareth,
1:27	vnto a virgin that was spoused vnto a man, whose name was Ioseph, of the house of Dauid, and the virgins name was Mary.
1:28	And the angell came in vnto her, and sayde: Hayle thou full of grace, the LORDE is with the: blessed art thou amonge wemen.
1:29	Wha she sawe him, she was abasshed at his sayenge, and thought: What maner of salutacion is this?
1:30	And the angell sayde vnto her: Feare not Mary, for thou hast foude grace with God.
1:31	Beholde, thou shalt coceaue in thy wobe, & beare a sonne & shalt call his name Iesus:
1:32	he shalbe greate, & shalbe called ye sonne of the Hyest. And the LORDE God shal geue him ye seate of Dauid his father,
1:33	& he shal be kinge ouer ye house of Iacob for euer & there shalbe no ende of his kyngdome.
1:34	Then sayde Mary vnto the angell: How shal this be, seinge I knowe not a ma?
1:35	The angell answered, & sayde vnto her: The holy goost shal come vpon the, & the power of the Hyest shal ouershadowe the. Therfore that Holy also which shalbe borne (of the) shalbe called the sonne of God.
1:36	And beholde, thy cosen Elizabeth she also hath coceaued a sonne in hir olde age, & this is the sixte moneth of her, which is reported to be baren:
1:37	for wt God is nothinge vnpossyble.
1:38	And Mary sayde: Beholde, here am I the handmayde of the LORDE: be it vnto me, as thou hast sayde. And the angell departed fro her.
1:39	And Mary arose in those dayes,and wente in to the moutaynes with haist, into ye cite of Iewry,
1:40	and came in to ye house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth.
1:41	And it fortuned as Elizabeth herde the salutacion of Mary, the babe sprange in hir wombe. And Elizabeth was fylled with the holy goost,
1:42	& cried loude, and sayde: Blessed art thou amoge wemen, and blessed is the frute of yi wombe.
1:43	And how happeneth this to me, that ye mother of my LORDE commeth vnto me?
1:44	Beholde, whan I herde the voyce of thy salutacion, the babe sprange in my wombe wt ioye,
1:45	And blessed art thou that hast beleued, for ye thinges shalbe perfourmed, which were tolde ye fro ye LORDE.
1:46	And Mary sayde:My soule magnifieth the LORDE.
1:47	And my sprete reioyseth i God my Sauioure.
1:48	For he hath loked vpo the lowe degre of his hande mayde. Beholde, fro hence forth shal all generacions call me blessed.
1:49	For he that is Mightie, hath done greate thinges vnto me, and holy is his name.
1:50	And his mercy endureth thorow out all generacions, vpon them that feare him.
1:51	He sheweth strength with his arme, and scatreth them that are proude in the ymaginacion of their hert.
1:52	He putteth downe the mightie from the seate, and exalteth them of lowe degre.
1:53	He fylleth the hongrie with good thinges, and letteth the riche go emptye.
1:54	He remebreth mercy, and helpeth vp his seruaunt Israel.
1:55	Euen as he promysed vnto oure fathers, Abraham and to his sede foreuer.
1:56	And Mary abode with her aboute thre monethes, and then returned home agayne.
1:57	And Elizabethes tyme was come, that she shulde be delyuered, & she brought forth a sonne.
1:58	And hir neghbours and kynsfolkes herde, yt the LORDE had shewed greate mercy vpo her,& they reioysed with her.
1:59	And it fortuned vpon the eight daye, they came to circumcyse ye childe, and called him Zachary after his father:
1:60	And his mother answered, and sayde: No, but he shalbe called Ihon.
1:61	And they sayde vnto her: There is none in yi kynne, yt is so called.
1:62	And they made signes vnto his father, how he wolde haue him called.
1:63	And he axed for wrytinge tables, wrote & sayde: His name is Ihon. And they marueyled all.
1:64	And immediatly was his mouth and his toge opened, and he spake, & praysed God.
1:65	And there came a feare vpon all their neghbours. And all this acte was noysed abrode thorow out all the hill countre of Iewry:
1:66	And all they yt herde therof, toke it to hert, and sayde: What maner of man wil this childe be? For the hande of the LORDE was with him.
1:67	And Zachary his father was fylled with the holy goost, and prophecied, and sayde:
1:68	Blessed be ye LORDE God of Israel, for he hath vysited and redemed his people.
1:69	And hath set vp an horne of saluacion in the house of his seruaunt Dauid.
1:70	Euen as he promysed afore tyme, by the mouth of his holy prophetes.
1:71	hat he wolde delyuer vs fro oure enemies, & from ye hande of all soch as hate vs.
1:72	And yt he wolde shewe mercy vnto oure fathers, & thynke vpo his holy couenaut.
1:73	Euen the ooth yt he sware vnto oure father Abraham,
1:74	for to geue vs.That we delyuered out of ye hade of or enemies, might serue him without feare
1:75	all the dayes of oure life, in soch holynes and righteousnes as is accepte before him.
1:76	And thou childe shalt be called a prophet of the Hyest: for thou shalt go before ye LORDE, to prepare his wayes.
1:77	And to geue knowlege of saluacion vnto his people, for the remyssion of their synnes.
1:78	Thorow the tender mercy of oure God, wherby the daye sprynge from an hye hath vysited vs.
1:79	That he might geue light vnto them yt syt in darcknesse and shadowe of death, and to gyde oure fete in to the waye of peace.
1:80	And the childe grew, and waxed stronge in sprete, and was in the wyldernes, tyll the tyme that he shulde shewe him self vnto the people of Israel.


1:1	Forsothe for manye men enforceden to ordeyne the tellyng of thingis, whiche ben fillid in vs,
1:2	as thei that seyn atte the bigynnyng, and weren ministris of the word,
1:3	bitaken, it is seen also to me, hauynge alle thingis diligentli bi ordre, to write to thee,
1:4	thou best Theofile, that thou knowe the treuthe of tho wordis, of whiche thou art lerned.
1:5	In the daies of Eroude, kyng of Judee, ther was a prest, Sakarie bi name, of the sorte of Abia, and his wijf was of the douytris of Aaron, and hir name was Elizabeth.
1:6	And bothe weren iust bifor God, goynge in alle the maundementis and iustifiyngis of the Lord, withouten pleynt.
1:7	And thei hadden no child, for Elizabeth was bareyn, and bothe weren of grete age in her daies.
1:8	And it bifel, that whanne Zacarie schulde do the office of preesthod, in the ordre of his cours tofor God,
1:9	aftir the custome of the preesthod, he wente forth bi lot, and entride in to the temple, to encense.
1:10	And al the multitude of the puple was with outforth, and preiede in the our of encensyng.
1:11	And an aungel of the Lord apperide to hym, and stood on the riythalf of the auter of encense.
1:12	And Zacarie seynge was afraied, and drede fel vpon hym.
1:13	And the aungel seide to hym, Zacarie, drede thou not; for thi preyer is herd, and Elizabeth, thi wijf, schal bere to thee a sone, and his name schal be clepid Joon.
1:14	And ioye and gladyng schal be to thee; and many schulen `haue ioye in his natyuyte.
1:15	For he schal be greet bifor the Lord, and he schal not drynke wyn and sidir, and he schal be fulfillid with the Hooli Goost yit of his modir wombe.
1:16	And he schal conuerte many of the children of Israel to her Lord God;
1:17	and he schal go bifor hym in the spirit and the vertu of Helie; and he schal turne the hertis of the fadris in to the sones, and men out of bileue to the prudence of iust men, to make redi a perfit puple to the Lord.
1:18	And Zacarie seide to the aungel, Wherof schal Y wite this? for Y am eld, and my wijf hath gon fer in to hir daies.
1:19	And the aungel answeride, and seide to hym, For Y am Gabriel, that stonde niy bifor God; and Y am sent to thee to speke, and to euangelize to thee these thingis.
1:20	And lo! thou schalt be doumbe, and thou schalt not mow speke til in to the dai, in which these thingis schulen be don; for thou hast not bileued to my wordis, whiche schulen be fulfillid in her tyme.
1:21	And the puple was abidynge Zacarie, and thei wondriden, that he tariede in the temple.
1:22	And he yede out, and myyte not speke to hem, and thei knewen that he hadde seyn a visioun in the temple. And he bikenyde to hem, and he dwellide stille doumbe.
1:23	And it was don, whanne the daies of his office weren fulfillid, he wente in to his hous.
1:24	And aftir these daies Elizabeth, his wijf, conseyuede, and hidde hir fyue monethis, and seide,
1:25	For so the Lord dide to me in the daies, in whiche he bihelde, to take awei my repreef among men.
1:26	But in the sixte moneth the aungel Gabriel was sent fro God in to a citee of Galilee, whos name was Nazareth,
1:27	to a maidyn, weddid to a man, whos name was Joseph, of the hous of Dauid; and the name of the maidun was Marie.
1:28	And the aungel entride to hir, and seide, Heil, ful of grace; the Lord be with thee; blessid be thou among wymmen.
1:29	And whanne sche hadde herd, sche was troublid in his word, and thouyte what maner salutacioun this was.
1:30	And the aungel seide to hir, Ne drede thou not, Marie, for thou hast foundun grace anentis God.
1:31	Lo! thou schalt conceyue in wombe, and schalt bere a sone, and thou schalt clepe his name Jhesus.
1:32	This schal be greet, and he schal be clepid the sone of the Hiyeste; and the Lord God schal yeue to hym the seete of Dauid, his fadir, and he schal regne in the hous of Jacob with outen ende,
1:33	and of his rewme schal be noon ende.
1:34	And Marie seide to the aungel, On what maner schal this thing be doon, for Y knowe not man?
1:35	And the aungel answeride, and seide to hir, The Hooly Goost schal come fro aboue in to thee, and the vertu of the Hiyeste schal ouerschadewe thee; and therfor that hooli thing that schal be borun of thee, schal be clepid the sone of God.
1:36	And lo! Elizabeth, thi cosyn, and sche also hath conceyued a sone in hir eelde, and this moneth is the sixte to hir that is clepid bareyn;
1:37	for euery word schal not be inpossible anentis God.
1:38	And Marie seide, Lo! the handmaydyn of the Lord; be it don to me aftir thi word. And the aungel departide fro hir.
1:39	And Marie roos vp in tho daies, and wente with haaste in to the mounteyns, in to a citee of Judee.
1:40	And sche entride in to the hous of Zacarie, and grette Elizabeth.
1:41	And it was don, as Elizabeth herde the salutacioun of Marie, the yong child in hir wombe gladide. And Elizabeth was fulfillid with the Hooli Goost,
1:42	and criede with a greet vois, and seide, Blessid be thou among wymmen, and blessid be the fruyt of thi wombe.
1:43	And whereof is this thing to me, that the modir of my Lord come to me?
1:44	For lo! as the voice of thi salutacioun was maad in myn eeris, the yong child gladide in ioye in my wombe.
1:45	And blessid be thou, that hast bileued, for thilke thingis that ben seid of the Lord to thee, schulen be parfitli don.
1:46	And Marie seide, Mi soule magnyfieth the Lord,
1:47	and my spirit hath gladid in God, myn helthe.
1:48	For he hath biholdun the mekenesse of his handmaidun.
1:49	For lo! of this alle generaciouns schulen seie that Y am blessid. For he that is myyti hath don to me grete thingis, and his name is hooli.
1:50	And his mercy is fro kynrede in to kynredes, to men that dreden hym.
1:51	He made myyt in his arme, he scaterede proude men with the thouyte of his herte.
1:52	He sette doun myyti men fro sete, and enhaunside meke men.
1:53	He hath fulfillid hungri men with goodis, and he hath left riche men voide.
1:54	He, hauynge mynde of his mercy, took Israel, his child;
1:55	as he hath spokun to oure fadris, to Abraham and to his seed, in to worldis.
1:56	And Marie dwellide with hir, as it were thre monethis, and turnede ayen in to hir hous.
1:57	But the tyme of beryng child was fulfillid to Elizabeth, and sche bare a sone.
1:58	And the neiyboris and cosyns of hir herden, that the Lord hadde magnyfied his mercy with hir; and thei thankiden hym.
1:59	And it was don in the eiyte dai, thei camen to circumcide the child; and thei clepiden hym Zacarie, bi the name of his fadir.
1:60	And his moder answeride, and seide, Nay, but he schal be clepid Joon.
1:61	And thei seiden to hir, For no man is in thi kynrede, that is clepid this name.
1:62	And thei bikeneden to his fadir, what he wolde that he were clepid.
1:63	And he axynge a poyntil, wroot, seiynge, Joon is his name.
1:64	And alle men wondriden. And anoon his mouth was openyd, and his tunge, and he spak, and blesside God.
1:65	And drede was maad on alle her neiyboris, and alle these wordis weren pupplischid on alle the mounteyns of Judee.
1:66	And alle men that herden puttiden in her herte, and seiden, What maner child schal this be? For the hoond of the Lord was with hym.
1:67	And Zacarie, his fadir, was fulfillid with the Hooli Goost, and prophesiede,
1:68	and seide, Blessid be the Lord God of Israel, for he hath visitid, and maad redempcioun of his puple.
1:69	And he hath rerid to vs an horn of heelthe in the hous of Dauid, his child.
1:70	As he spak bi the mouth of hise hooli prophetis, that weren fro the world.
1:71	Helthe fro oure enemyes, and fro the hoond of alle men that hatiden vs.
1:72	To do merci with oure fadris, and to haue mynde of his hooli testament.
1:73	The greet ooth that he swoor to Abraham, oure fadir, to yyue hym silf to vs.
1:74	That we with out drede delyuered fro the hoond of oure enemyes,
1:75	serue to hym, in hoolynesse and riytwisnesse bifor hym in alle oure daies.
1:76	And thou, child, schalt be clepid the prophete of the Hiyest; for thou schalt go bifor the face of the Lord, to make redi hise weies.
1:77	To yyue scyence of helthe to his puple, in to remyssioun of her synnes;
1:78	bi the inwardnesse of the merci of oure God, in the whiche he spryngynge vp fro an hiy hath visitid vs.
1:79	To yyue liyt to hem that sitten in derknessis and in schadewe of deeth; to dresse oure feet in to the weie of pees.
1:80	And the child wexide, and was coumfortid in spirit, and was in desert placis `til to the dai of his schewing to Israel.
