5:1	It came to passe that (whan the people preassed vpon him, to heare the word of God) he stode by the lake of Genezareth:
5:2	and sawe two shyppes stande by the lake syde, but the fishermen were gone oute of them, and were wasshyng their nettes
5:3	And he entred into one of the shyppes, (which perteyned to Simon) and prayed him that he wold thrust oute a lytell from the lande. And he sate downe, and taught the people out of the shyp.
5:4	When he had lefte speakynge, he sayde vnto Simon: Launche out into the depe, and let slyppe youre nettes to make a draught.
5:5	And Simon answered, and sayd vnto hym: Master, we haue laboured all night, and haue taken nothynge. Neuerthesse, at thy commaundement I wyll lose forth the net.
5:6	And when they had this done, they in closed a greate multitude of fysshes. But theyr net brake,
5:7	& they beckened to theyr felowes (which were in the other shyp) that they shulde come, and helpe them. And they came: and fylled both the shyppes, that they soncke agayne.
5:8	When Simon Peter sawe thys, he fell downe at Iesus knees, saying: Lord, go from me, for I am a sinful man.
5:9	For he was astonnyed & all that were with hym, at the draught of fysshes which they had taken:
5:10	and so was also Iames and Iohn the sonnes of Zebede, which were parteners with Symon. And Iesus sayde vnto Symon: feare not, from hence forth thou shalt catche men.
5:11	And they brought the shyppes to lande, and forsoke all, and folowed hym.
5:12	And it fortuned that whan he was in a certen cytie: behold, ther was a man ful of leprosy, & when he had spyed Iesus, he fell flat on hys face, and besought him, saieng: Lord, yf thou wylt, thou canst make me clene.
5:13	And he stretched forth his hand, and touched him saying: I will, be thou clene. And immediatly the leprosy departed from hym.
5:14	And he charged him, that he shuld tell no man: but go (saith he) and shewe thy selfe to the preste, & offer for thy clensyng accordyng, as Moses commaunded, for a wytnes vnto them.
5:15	But so moch the more went there a fame abrode of hym, and moch people came together to heare, & to be healed of hym from theyr infirmityes.
5:16	And he kepte hym oute of the waye in the wildernesses, and gaue him selfe to prayer.
5:17	And it happened on a certen daye: that he taught: and ther sate the Pharises and doctours of lawe, which were come out of all the townes of Galile and Iewrye, and Ierusalem. And the power of the Lord was present, to heale them.
5:18	And behold, men brought in a bed, a man which was taken with a palsie: and they sought meanes to bring him in, and to laye him before hym.
5:19	And when they coulde not fynde on what syde they myghte bring hym in (because of the prease) they went vp on the toppe of the house & let him downe thorowe the tylyng, beed and all, euen in the myddes before Iesus.
5:20	When he sawe theyr fayth he sayd vnto him: man, thy synnes be forgeuen the,
5:21	And the scribes and the pharises began to thincke, saying: What felowe is this, which speaketh blasphemye? who can forgeue synnes but God only?
5:22	But when Iesus perceaued their thoughtes, he answered, and said vnto them: What thyncke ye in your hertes?
5:23	Whether is easier to saye thy synnes be forgeuen the, or to saye: ryse vp, and walke.
5:24	But that ye maye knowe that the sonne of man hath power to forgeue synne on earth, he sayd vnto the sycke of the palsye: I saye vnto the: aryse, take vp thy bed, and go vnto thy house.
5:25	And immediatly he rose vp before them, and toke vp hys bedd, (wher on he laye) and departed to hys awne house, praysing God.
5:26	And they were all amased, and they gaue the glory vnto God. And were fylled with feare, saying: We haue sene straunge thynges to daye.
5:27	And after this, he went forth, and sawe a publican named Leuy, syttynge at the receyte of custome, & he sayd vnto him: folowe me.
5:28	And he left all, and rose vp, and folowed him:
5:29	And Leuy made hym a greate feaste in his awne house. And ther was a great companye of publicans and of other that sate at meate, with them.
5:30	And the scribes and pharises murmured against his disciples, saying: Why do ye eate and drincke with publicans and sinners?
5:31	And Iesus answered, and sayd vnto them: They that are whole, nede not the phisicion: but they that are sycke.
5:32	I came not to call the ryghtewes, but synners to repentaunce.
5:33	And they sayde vnto hym: Why do the disciples of Iohn fast often, and praye, & the disciples of the pharises also: but thyne eate and dryncke?
5:34	He sayde vnto them: Can ye make the chyldren of the wedding fast, whyle the brydgrome is with them?
5:35	The dayes wyll come, when the brydgrome also shalbe taken awaye from them: then shall they fast in those dayes.
5:36	He spake also vnto them a similitude. No man putteth a pece of a newe garment, into an old vesture, for yf he do, then breaketh he the newe, and the pece that was taken out of the newe, agreeth not with the olde.
5:37	And no man powreth newe wyne into olde bottels. For yf he do, the newe wyne wyll burst the bottels, and runne out it self, and the bottels shall perysh.
5:38	But newe wyne must be put into newe bottels, and both are preserued.
5:39	No man also that dryncketh old wyne, straight waye can awaye with newe: for he sayeth the olde is better.


5:1	And it was don, whanne the puple cam fast to Jhesu, to here the word of God, he stood bisidis the pool of Genasereth,
5:2	and saiy two bootis stondynge bisidis the pool; and the fischeris weren go doun, and waischiden her nettis.
5:3	And he wente vp in to a boot, that was Symoundis, and preiede hym to lede it a litil fro the loond; and he seet, and tauyte the puple out of the boot.
5:4	And as he ceesside to speke, he seide to Symount, Lede thou in to the depthe, and slake youre nettis to take fisch.
5:5	And Symount answeride, and seide to hym, Comaundoure, we traueliden al the nyyt, and token no thing, but in thi word Y schal leye out the net.
5:6	And whanne thei hadden do this thing, thei closiden togidir a greet multitude of fischis; and her net was brokun.
5:7	And thei bikenyden to felawis, that weren in anothir boot, that thei schulden come, and helpe hem. And thei camen, and filliden bothe the bootis, so that thei weren almost drenchid.
5:8	And whanne Symount Petir saiy this thing, he felde doun to the knees of Jhesu, and seide, Lord, go fro me, for Y am a synful man.
5:9	For he was on ech side astonyed, and alle that weren with hym, in the takyng of fischis whiche thei token.
5:10	Sotheli in lijk maner James and Joon, the sones of Zebedee, that weren felowis of Symount Petre. And Jhesus seide to Symount, Nyle thou drede; now fro this tyme thou schalt take men.
5:11	And whanne the bootis weren led vp to the loond, thei leften alle thingis, and thei sueden hym.
5:12	And it was don, whanne he was in oon of the citees, lo! a man ful of lepre; and seynge Jhesu felle doun on his face, and preyede hym, and seide, Lord, if thou wolt, thou maist make me clene.
5:13	And Jhesus held forth his hoond, and touchide hym, and seide, Y wole, be thou maad cleene. And anoon the lepre passide awei fro hym.
5:14	And Jhesus comaundide to hym, that he schulde seie to no man; But go, schewe thou thee to a preest, and offre for thi clensyng, as Moises bad, in to witnessyng to hem.
5:15	And the word walkide aboute the more of hym; and myche puple camen togidere, to here, and to be heelid of her siknessis.
5:16	And he wente in to desert, and preiede.
5:17	And it was don in oon of the daies, he sat, and tauyte; and there weren Farisees sittynge, and doctouris of the lawe, that camen of eche castel of Galilee, and of Judee, and of Jerusalem; and the vertu of the Lord was to heele sike men.
5:18	And lo! men beren in a bed a man that was sijk in the palsye, and thei souyten to bere hym in, and sette bifor hym.
5:19	And thei founden not in what partie thei schulden bere hym in, for the puple, `and thei wenten on the roof, and bi the sclattis thei leeten hym doun with the bed, in to the myddil, bifor Jhesus.
5:20	And whanne Jhesu saiy the feith of hem, he seide, Man, thi synnes ben foryouun to thee.
5:21	And the scribis and Farisees bigunnen to thenke, seiynge, Who is this, that spekith blasfemyes? who may foryyue synnes, but God aloone?
5:22	And as Jhesus knewe the thouytis of hem, he answeride, and seide to hem, What thenken ye yuele thingis in youre hertes?
5:23	What is liyter to seie, Synnes ben foryouun to thee, or to seie, Rise vp, and walke?
5:24	But that ye wite, that mannus sone hath power in erthe to foryyue synnes, he seide to the sijk man in palesie, Y seie to thee, ryse vp, take thi bed, and go in to thin hous.
5:25	And anoon he roos vp bifor hem, and took the bed in which he lay, and wente in to his hous, and magnyfiede God.
5:26	And greet wondur took alle, and thei magnyfieden God; and thei weren fulfillid with greet drede, and seiden, For we han seyn merueilouse thingis to dai.
5:27	And after these thingis Jhesus wente out, and saiy a pupplican, Leuy bi name, sittynge at the tolbothe. And he seide to hym, Sue thou me;
5:28	and whanne he hadde left alle thingis, he roos vp, and suede hym.
5:29	And Leuy made to hym a greet feeste in his hous; and ther was a greet cumpanye of pupplicans, and of othere that weren with hem, sittynge at the mete.
5:30	And Farisees and the scribis of hem grutchiden, and seiden to hise disciplis, Whi eten ye and drynken with pupplicans and synful men?
5:31	And Jhesus answeride, and seide to hem, Thei that ben hoole han no nede to a leche, but thei that ben sijke;
5:32	for Y cam not to clepe iuste men, but synful men to penaunce.
5:33	And thei seiden to hym, Whi the disciplis of Joon fasten ofte, and maken preieris, also and of Farisees, but thine eten and drynken?
5:34	To whiche he seide, Whether ye moun make the sones of the spouse to faste, while the spouse is with hem?
5:35	But daies schulen come, whanne the spouse schal be takun a wei fro hem, and thanne thei schulen faste in tho daies.
5:36	And he seide to hem also a liknesse; For no man takith a pece fro a newe cloth, and puttith it in to an oold clothing; ellis bothe he brekith the newe, and the pece of the newe acordith not to the elde.
5:37	And no man puttith newe wyne in to oolde botels; ellis the newe wyn schal breke the botels, and the wyn schal be sched out, and the botels schulen perische.
5:38	But newe wyne owith to be put in to newe botels, and bothe ben kept.
5:39	And no man drynkynge the elde, wole anoon the newe; for he seith, The olde is the betere.

5:7	And they made sygnes to their felowes which were in ye other shippe, yt they shulde come, & helpe the. And they came, & fylled both the shippes full, so yt they soncke.
5:8	Whan Symon Peter sawe yt, he fell downe at Iesus knees, & sayde: LORDE, go
5:9	fro me, for I am a synfull man: For he was astonnyed and all that were wt him, at this draught of fishes which they toke,
5:10	and so were Iames and Ihon also the sonnes of Zebede, which were Symons companyons. And Iesus sayde vnto Symo: Feare not, for fro hence forth thou shalt take men.
5:11	And they brought the shippes to londe, and left all, and folowed him.
5:12	And it fortuned as he was in a cite, beholde, there was a man full of leprosy. Wha he sawe Iesus, he fell vpo his face, & besought him, and sayde: LORDE, yf thou wilt, thou canst make me cleane.
5:13	And he stretched out his hade, and touched him, and sayde: I wil, be thou cleane. And immediatly the leprosy departed from him.
5:14	And he charged him, yt he shulde tell no ma, but go thy waye (sayde he) and shewe thyself vnto ye prest, and offre for yi clensynge, as Moses comaunded, for a witnesse vnto the.
5:15	But ye fame of hi wete out farther abrode, & there came moch people together, to heare him, & to be healed by hi fro their sicknesses.
5:16	And he departed in to the wyldernesses, & gaue him self to prayer.
5:17	And it fortuned vpo a daye, yt he taught, and there sat ye Pharises and scrybes, which were come out of all the townes of Galile, and Iewry, and fro Ierusale, and the power of the LORDE wete fro him, & healed euery man.
5:18	And beholde, certayne men brought vpon a bed, a man yt had ye palsye, and they sought how they might brynge him in, and laye him before him.
5:19	And whan they coude not fynde by what waye they might bringe him in (for ye people) they clymmed vp to ye toppe of the house, & let him downe thorow the tylinge wt the bed, amoge the before Iesus.
5:20	And whan he sawe their faith, he sayde vnto hi: Man, yi synnes are forgeue ye.
5:21	And the scrybes and pharyses begane to thynke, & saide: What is he this, yt speaketh blasphemy. Who ca forgeue synnes, but onely God?
5:22	Neuertheles wha Iesus perceaued their thoughtes, he answered, and saide vnto the: What thynke ye in yor hertes?
5:23	Whether is easier to saye: Thy synnes are forgeue ye, Or to saye: Aryse, and walke?

5:27	And afterwarde he wete out, and sawe a publican named Leui, syttinge at ye receate of custome, & he sayde vnto him: Folowe me.
5:28	And he left all, rose vp, & folowed him.
5:29	And Leui made hi a greate feast i his house. And many publicans & other sat wt hi at ye table
5:30	And the scrybes and Pharyses murmured agaynst his disciples, & saide: Wherfore do ye eate & drynke wt publicas & synners?
5:31	And Iesus answered, & sayde vnto the: The whole nede not ye phisician, but they yt are sicke.
5:32	I am not come to call ye righteous, but sinners to repentauce.
5:33	But they sayde vnto him: Wherfore fast ye disciples of Iho so of, & praye so moch, & the disciples of the Pharises likewyse, but yi disciples eate and drynke?
5:34	And he sayde vnto them: Can ye make the weddynge childre fast, so loge as the brydegrome is with the?
5:35	But the tyme wil come that the brydegrome shalbe take fro the, then shal they fast.
5:36	And he sayde vnto them a symilitude: No man putteth a pece of new cloth in to an olde garment: for els he renteth the new, and the pece of the new agreeth not with the olde.
5:37	And no man putteth new wyne in to olde vessels, for els ye new wyne barsteth the vessels, and runneth out it self, and the vessels perishe.
5:38	But new wyne must be put in to new vessels, and so are they both preserued.
5:39	And there is no man that drynketh the olde, and wolde straight waye haue the new, for he sayeth: the olde is pleasaunter.
