9:1	Then he called his twelue disciples together, and gaue them power and authority ouer all deuils, and to cure diseases.
9:2	And hee sent them to preach the Kingdome of God, and to heale the sicke.
9:3	And he said vnto them, Take nothing for your iourney, neither staues, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money, neither haue two coates apeece.
9:4	And whatsoeuer house yee enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
9:5	And whosoeuer will not receiue you, when ye goe out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feete, for a testimonie against them.
9:6	And they departed, and went through the townes, preaching the Gospel, and healing euery where.
9:7	Now Herode the Tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and hee was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that Iohn was risen from the dead:
9:8	And of some, that Elias had appeared: and of others, that one of the olde Prophets was risen againe.
9:9	And Herode said, Iohn haue I beheaded: but who is this of whom I heare such things? And hee desired to see him.
9:10	And the Apostles when they were returned, tolde him all that they had done. And hee tooke them, and went aside priuately into a desert place, belonging to the citie called Bethsaida.
9:11	And the people when they knew it, followed him, and he receiued them, and spake vnto them of the kingdome of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
9:12	And when the day beganne to weare away, then came the twelue, and said vnto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the townes and countrey round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.
9:13	But he said vnto them, Giue yee them to eate. And they said, Wee haue no more but fiue loaues and two fishes, except we should goe and buy meate for all this people.
9:14	For they were about fiue thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit downe by fifties in a company.
9:15	And they did so, and made them all sit downe.
9:16	Then he tooke the fiue loaues and the two fishes, and looking vp to heauen, hee blessed them, and brake, and gaue to the disciples to set before the multitude.
9:17	And they did eate, and were all filled. And there was taken vp of fragments that remained to them, twelue baskets.
9:18	And it came to passe, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
9:19	They answering, said, Iohn the Baptist: but some say, Elias: and others say, that one of the old Prophets is risen againe.
9:20	He said vnto them, But whom say yee that I am? Peter answering, said, The Christ of God.
9:21	And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing,
9:22	Saying, The Sonne of man must suffer many things, and be reiected of the Elders, and chiefe Priests, and Scribes, and be slaine, and be raised the third day.
9:23	And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him denie himselfe, and take vp his crosse daily, and follow me.
9:24	For whosoeuer will saue his life, shall lose it: but whosoeuer will lose his life for my sake, the same shall saue it.
9:25	For what is a man aduantaged, if hee gaine the whole world, and lose himselfe, or be cast away?
9:26	For whosoeuer shall bee ashamed of me, and of my wordes, of him shall the Sonne of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his owne glory, and in his Fathers, and of the holy Angels.
9:27	But I tell you of a trueth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdome of God.
9:28	And it came to passe, about an eight dayes after these sayings, hee tooke Peter, and Iohn, and Iames, and went vp into a mountaine to pray:
9:29	And as hee prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
9:30	And behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias,
9:31	Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease, which he should accomplish at Hierusalem.
9:32	But Peter, and they that were with him, were heauie with sleepe: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
9:33	And it came to passe, as they departed from him, Peter said vnto Iesus, Master, it is good for vs to be here, and let vs make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.
9:34	While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and ouershadowed them, & they feared, as they entred into the cloude.
9:35	And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloued Son, heare him.
9:36	And when the voyce was past, Iesus was found alone, and they kept it close, & told no man in those dayes any of those things which they had seene.
9:37	And it came to passe, that on the next day, when they were come downe from the hill, much people met him.
9:38	And behold, a man of the companie cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee looke vpon my sonne, for he is mine onely child.
9:39	And loe, a spirit taketh him, and hee suddenly crieth out, and it teareth him that he fometh againe, and bruising him, hardly departeth from him.
9:40	And I besought thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.
9:41	And Iesus answering, said, O faithlesse, and peruerse generation, how long shal I be with you, and suffer you? bring thy sonne hither.
9:42	And as he was yet a comming, the deuill threw him downe, and tare him: and Iesus rebuked the vncleane spirit, and healed the child, and deliuered him againe to his father.
9:43	And they were al amazed at the mightie power of God: But while they wondred euery one at all things which Iesus did, he said vnto his disciples,
9:44	Let these sayings sinke downe into your eares: for the Sonne of man shall bee deliuered into the handes of men.
9:45	But they vnderstood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceiued it not: and they feared to aske him of that saying.
9:46	Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
9:47	And Iesus perceiuing ye thought of their heart, tooke a child, and set him by him,
9:48	And said vnto them, Whosoeuer shall receiue this child in my Name, receiueth me: and whosoeuer shal receiue me, receiueth him that sent me: For hee that is least among you all, the same shalbe great.
9:49	And Iohn answered, and said, Master, we saw one casting out deuils in thy Name, and we forbade him, because he followeth not with vs.
9:50	And Iesus said vnto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against vs, is for vs.
9:51	And it came to passe, when the time was come that he should bee receiued vp, he stedfastly set his face to goe to Hierusalem,
9:52	And sent messengers before his face, and they went and entred into a village of the Samaritanes to make ready for him.
9:53	And they did not receiue him, because his face was as though he would goe to Hierusalem.
9:54	And when his disciples, Iames and Iohn sawe this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that wee command fire to come downe from heauen, and consume them, euen as Elias did?
9:55	But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what maner spirit ye are of.
9:56	For the Sonne of man is not come to destroy mens liues, but to saue them. And they went to another village.
9:57	And it came to passe that as they went in the way, a certaine man said vnto him, Lord, I wil follow thee whithersoeuer thou goest.
9:58	And Iesus said vnto him, Foxes haue holes, and birds of the aire haue nests, but the Sonne of man hath not where to lay his head.
9:59	And he said vnto another, Follow me: But he said, Lord, suffer mee first to goe and bury my father.
9:60	Iesus said vnto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdome of God.
9:61	And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee: but let me first goe bid them farewel, which are at home at my house.
9:62	And Iesus said vnto him, No man hauing put his hand to the plough, and looking backe, is fit for the kingdome of God.

9:9	And Herode sayde, Iohn haue I beheaded, but who is this of who I heare such thinges? And he desired to see him.
9:10	And the apostles returned, & tolde him all that they had done. And he toke the and went aside into a solitarie place, nye vnto the citie that is called Bethsaida.
9:11	Which whe the people knew, they folowed him: And he receaued them, and spake vnto the of the kingdome of God, & healed the that had nede to be healed.
9:12	And when the day began to weare away, then came the twelue and sayde vnto hym: Sende the people awaye, that they may go into the townes and vyllages rounde about, and lodge, and get meate: for we are here in a place of wyldernesse.
9:13	But he said vnto them: Geue ye the to eate. And they said: We haue no mo but fyue loaues and two fisshes, excepte we should go & bye meate for al this people.
9:14	And they were about fyue thousande men. And he said to his disciples: Cause the to sit downe by fifties in a companie.
9:15	And they dyd so, and made them all to sit downe.
9:16	And he toke the fyue loaues and the two fisshes, and loked vp to heauen, and blessed them, and brake, and gaue to the disciples to set before the people.
9:17	And they dyd all eate, and were satisfied. And there was taken vp of that remayned to them, twelue baskettes full of broken meate.
9:18	And it came to passe, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with hym, and he asked them, saying: Who say the people that I am?
9:19	They aunswered and sayde, Iohn Baptist: some say, Elias: and some say that one of the olde prophetes is rysen.
9:20	He sayde vnto them: But whom say ye that I am? [Simon] Peter aunswered, & saide: [Thou art] Christe, of God.
9:21	And he warned & commaunded them, that they should tell no man that thing,
9:22	Saying: The sonne of man must suffer many thynges, and be reproued of the elders, and of the hye priestes and scribes, and be slayne, and ryse agayne the thirde day.
9:23	And he said to the all: If any man wyl come after me, let him denie him selfe, & take vp his crosse dayly, & folowe me.
9:24	For whosoeuer wyl saue his lyfe, shal lose it: But whosoeuer shal lose his lyfe for my sake, the same shall saue it.
9:25	For what auauntageth it a man yf he wynne the whole worlde, and lose hym selfe, or runne in daunger of hym selfe?
9:26	For whosoeuer shalbe ashamed of me, and of my wordes, of hym shall the sonne of man be ashamed, whe he commeth in his maiestie, and in the maiestie of his father, and of the holy angels.
9:27	I tell you of a trueth, there be some standyng here, whiche shall not taste of death, tyl they see the kingdome of God.
9:28	And it came to passe, about an eyght dayes after these sayinges, he toke Peter, and Iohn, and Iames, and went vp into a mountayne to pray.
9:29	And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenaunce was chaunged, & his garment was whyte, and shone.
9:30	And beholde, there talked with hym two men, which were Moyses & Elias:
9:31	That appeared in the maiestie, & spake of his departyng, which he shoulde end at Hierusalem.
9:32	But Peter, and they that were with him, were heauie with sleepe: and whe they awoke, they sawe his maiestie, and two men standyng with hym.
9:33	And it came to passe, as they departed fro him, Peter said vnto Iesus: Maister it is good beyng here for vs, let vs make three tabernacles, one for thee, & one for Moyses, and one for Elias: and wyst not what he sayde.
9:34	Whyle he thus spake, there came a cloude, and ouershadowed them, & they feared whe they wer come into ye cloude
9:35	And there came a voyce out of the cloude, saying: this is my deare sonne, heare him.
9:36	And assoone as the voyce was paste, Iesus was founde alone: and they kept it close, and tolde no man in those dayes any of those thynges which they hadde seene.
9:37	And it came to passe, that on the next day, as they came downe from the hyll, much people met hym.
9:38	And beholde, a man of the companie cried out, saying: Maister, I besech thee behold my sonne, for he is all yt I haue:
9:39	And see, a spirite taketh hym, and sodenly he cryeth, and teareth hym, that he fometh agayne, & with much payne departeth from him, when he hath rent hym.
9:40	And I besought thy disciples to cast hym out, and they coulde not.
9:41	Iesus aunswered, and saide: O faithlesse and croked nation, howe long shall I be with you, and shall suffer you? Bryng thy sonne hyther.
9:42	As he was yet a commyng, the fiende rent hym, and tare hym: And Iesus rebuked the vncleane spirite, and healed the chylde, and deliuered hym to his father.
9:43	And they were all amased at the mightie power of God: But whyle they wondred euery one at all thinges which he dyd, he sayde vnto his disciples,
9:44	Let these sayinges sincke downe into your eares: For it wyll come to passe, that the sonne of man shalbe deliuered into the handes of men.
9:45	But they wyst not what that worde meant, and it was hydde from them that they vnderstoode it not: And they feared to aske hym of that saying.
9:46	Then there arose a disputatio among them, which of them should be the greatest.
9:47	When Iesus perceaued the thought of their heartes, he toke a chylde, and set hym harde by hym,
9:48	And sayde vnto them: Whosoeuer receaueth this chylde in my name, receaueth me: And whosoeuer receaueth me, receaueth him that sent me. For he that is least among you all, the same shalbe great.
9:49	And Iohn aunswered, and sayde: Maister, we sawe one castyng out deuyls in thy name, and we forbad hym, because he foloweth not with vs.
9:50	And Iesus sayde vnto hym, Forbyd ye [hym] not: For he that is not against vs, is with vs.
9:51	And it came to passe, when the tyme was come that he shoulde be receaued vp, he set his face to go to Hierusalem.
9:52	And sent messengers before him: And they went, & entred into a towne of the Samaritanes, to make redy for hym.
9:53	And they woulde not receaue him, because his face was as though he woulde go to Hierusalem.
9:54	When his disciples, Iames & Iohn, sawe this, they sayde: Lord, wylt thou that we comaunde fire to come downe from heauen and consume them, euen as Elias dyd?
9:55	Iesus turned about, & rebuked them, saying: Ye wote not what maner spirite ye are of.

9:39	And loe, a spirit taketh him, and suddenly he crieth, and he teareth him, that he fometh, and hardly departeth from him, when he hath bruised him.
9:40	Nowe I haue besought thy disciples to cast him out, but they could not.
9:41	Then Iesus answered, and said, O generation faithlesse, and crooked, howe long now shall I be with you, and suffer you? bring thy sonne hither.
9:42	And whiles he was yet comming, the deuill rent him, and tare him: and Iesus rebuked the vncleane spirite, and healed the childe, and deliuered him to his father.
9:43	And they were all amased at the mightie power of God: and while they all wondered at al things, which Iesus did, he said vnto his disciples,
9:44	Marke these wordes diligently: for it shall come to passe, that the Sonne of man shalbe deliuered into the handes of men.
9:45	But they vnderstood not that word: for it was hid from them, so that they could not perceiue it: and they feared to aske him of that worde.
9:46	Then there arose a disputation among them, which of them should be the greatest.
9:47	When Iesus sawe the thoughtes of their heartes, he tooke a litle childe, and set him by him,
9:48	And said vnto them, Whosoeuer receiueth this litle childe in my Name, receiueth me: and whosoeuer shall receiue me, receiueth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, he shall be great.
9:49	And Iohn answered and saide, Master, we sawe one casting out deuils in thy Name, and we forbad him, because he followeth thee not with vs.
9:50	Then Iesus saide vnto him, Forbid ye him not: for he that is not against vs, is with vs.
9:51	And it came to passe, when the dayes were accomplished, that he should be receiued vp, he setled himselfe fully to goe to Hierusalem,
9:52	And sent messengers before him: and they went and entred into a towne of the Samaritans, to prepare him lodging.
9:53	But they woulde not receiue him, because his behauiour was, as though he would go to Hierusalem.
9:54	And when his disciples, Iames and Iohn sawe it, they saide, Lord, wilt thou that we commaund, that fire come downe from heauen, and consume them, euen as Elias did?
9:55	But Iesus turned about, and rebuked them, and said, Ye knowe not of what spirit ye are.
9:56	For the Sonne of man is not come to destroy mens liues, but to saue them. Then they went to another towne.
9:57	And it came to passe that as they went in the way, a certaine man said vnto him, I will follow thee, Lord, whithersoeuer thou goest.

9:60	And Iesus said vnto him, Let the dead burie their dead: but go thou, and preache the kingdome of God.
9:61	Then another saide, I will follow thee, Lord: but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at mine house.
