9:1	And whanne the twelue apostlis weren clepid togidir, Jhesus yaf to hem vertu and power on alle deuelis, and that thei schulden heele sijknessis.
9:2	And he sente hem for to preche the kyngdom of God, and to heele sijk men.
9:3	And he seide to hem, No thing take ye in the weie, nether yerde, ne scrippe, nether breed, ne money, and nether haue ye two cootis.
9:4	And in to what hous that ye entren, dwelle ye there, and go ye not out fro thennus.
9:5	And who euer resseyuen not you, go ye out of that citee, and schake ye of the poudir of youre feet in to witnessyng on hem.
9:6	And thei yeden forth, and wenten aboute bi castels, prechynge and helynge euery where.
9:7	And Eroude tetrak herde alle thingis that weren don of hym, and he doutide,
9:8	for that it was seide of sum men, that Joon was risen fro deth; and of summen, that Elie hadde apperid; but of othere, that oon of the elde prophetis was risun.
9:9	And Eroude seide, Y haue biheedid Joon; and who is this, of whom Y here siche thingis? And he souyte to se hym.
9:10	And the apostlis turneden ayen, and tolden to hym alle thingis that thei hadden don. And he took hem, and wente bisidis in to a desert place, that is Bethsada.
9:11	And whanne the puple knewen this, thei folewiden hym. And he resseyuede hem, and spak to hem of the kyngdom of God; and he heelide hem that hadden neede of cure.
9:12	And the dai bigan to bowe doun, and the twelue camen, and seiden to hym, Leeue the puple, that thei go, and turne in to castels and townes, that ben aboute, that thei fynde mete, for we ben here in a desert place.
9:13	And he seide to hem, Yue ye to hem to ete. And thei seiden, Ther ben not to vs mo than fyue looues and twei fischis, but perauenture that we go, and bie meetis to al this puple.
9:14	And the men weren almost fyue thousynde. And he seide to hise disciplis, Make ye hem sitte to mete bi cumpanyes, a fifti to gidir.
9:15	And thei diden so, and thei maden alle men sitte to mete.
9:16	And whanne he hadde take the fyue looues and twei fischis, he biheeld in to heuene, and blesside hem, and brak, and delide to hise disciplis, that thei schulden sette forth bifor the cumpanyes.
9:17	And alle men eeten, and weren fulfillid; and that that lefte to hem of brokun metis was takun vp, twelue cofyns.
9:18	And it was don, whanne he was aloone preiynge, hise disciplis weren with hym, and he axide hem, and seide, Whom seien the puple that Y am?
9:19	And thei answeriden, and seiden, Joon Baptist, othir seien Elie, and othir seien, o profete of the formere is risun.
9:20	And he seide to hem, But who seien ye that Y am? Symount Petir answeride, and seide, The Crist of God.
9:21	And he blamynge hem comaundide that thei schulden seie to no man,
9:22	and seide these thingis, For it bihoueth mannus sone to suffre many thingis, and to be repreued of the elder men, and of the princis of prestis, and of scribis, and to be slayn, and the thridde dai to rise ayen.
9:23	And he seide to alle, If ony wole come aftir me, denye he hym silf, and take he his cross euery dai, and sue he me.
9:24	For he that wole make his lijf saaf schal leese it; and he that leesith his lijf for me, schal make it saaf.
9:25	And what profitith it to a man, if he wynne al the world, and leese hymsilf, and do peiryng of him silf.
9:26	For who so schameth me and my wordis, mannus sone schal schame hym, whanne he cometh in his maieste, and of the fadris, and of the hooli aungels.
9:27	And Y seie to you, verily ther ben summe stondynge here, whiche schulen not taste deeth, til thei seen the rewme of God.
9:28	And it was don aftir these wordis almest eiyte daies, and he took Petre and James and Joon, and he stiede in to an hil, to preye.
9:29	And while he preiede, the licnesse of his cheer was chaungid, and his clothing was whit schynynge.
9:30	And lo! two men spaken with hym,
9:31	and Moises and Helie weren seen in maieste; and thei sayn his goyng out, which he schulde fulfille in Jerusalem.
9:32	And Petre, and thei that weren with hym, weren heuy of sleep, and thei wakynge saien his majeste, and the twey men that stoden with hym.
9:33	And it was don, whanne thei departiden fro hym, Petir seide to Jhesu, Comaundour, it is good that we be here, and make we here thre tabernaclis, oon to thee, and oon to Moises, and oon to Elie. And he wiste not what he schulde seie.
9:34	But while he spak these thingis, a cloude was maad, and ouerschadewide hem; and thei dredden, whanne thei entriden in to the cloude.
9:35	And a vois was maad out of the cloude, and seide, This is my derworth sone, here ye hym.
9:36	And while the vois was maad, Jhesu was foundun aloone. And thei weren stille, and to no man seiden in tho daies ouyt of tho thingis, that thei hadden seyn.
9:37	But it was doon in the dai suynge, whanne thei camen doun of the hil, myche puple mette hem.
9:38	And lo! a man of the cumpany criede, and seide, Maister, Y biseche thee, biholde my sone, for Y haue no mo; and lo!
9:39	a spirit takith hym, and sudenli he crieth, and hurtlith doun, and to-drawith hym with fome, and vnneth he goith awei al to-drawynge hym.
9:40	And Y preiede thi disciplis, that thei schulden caste hym out, and thei myyten not.
9:41	And Jhesus answerde and seide to hem, A! vnfeithful generacioun and weiward, hou long schal Y be at you, and suffre you? brynge hidur thi sone.
9:42	And whanne he cam nyy, the deuel hurtlide hym doun, and to-braidide hym. And Jhesus blamyde `the vnclene spirit, and heelide the child, and yeldide him to his fadir.
9:43	And alle men wondriden greetli in the gretnesse of God. And whanne alle men wondriden in alle thingis that he dide, he seide to hise disciplis,
9:44	Putte ye these wordis in youre hertis, for it is to come, that mannus sone be bitrayed in to the hondis of men.
9:45	And thei knewen not this word, and it was hid bifor hem, that thei feeliden it not; and thei dredden to axe hym of this word.
9:46	But a thouyt entride in to hem, who of hem schulde be grettest.
9:47	And Jhesu, seynge the thouytis of the herte of hem, took a child, and settide hym bisidis hym;
9:48	and seide to hem, Who euer resseyueth this child in my name, resseyueth me; and who euer resseyueth me, resseiueth him that sente me; for he that is leest among you alle, is the grettest.
9:49	And Joon answeride and seide, Comaundoure, we sayn a man castynge out feendis in thi name, and we han forbedun hym, for he sueth not thee with vs.
9:50	And Jhesus seide to hym, Nyle ye forbede, for he that is not ayens vs, is for vs.
9:51	And it was don, whanne the daies of his takyng vp weren fulfillid, he settide faste his face, to go to Jerusalem,
9:52	and sente messangeris bifor his siyt. And thei yeden, and entriden in to a citee of Samaritans, to make redi to hym.
9:53	And thei resseyueden not hym, for the face `was of hym goynge in to Jerusalem.
9:54	And whanne James and Joon, hise disciplis, seyn, thei seiden, Lord, wolt thou that we seien, that fier come doun fro heuene, and waste hem?
9:55	And he turnede, and blamyde hem, and seide, Ye witen not, whos spiritis ye ben;
9:56	for mannus sone cam not to leese mennus soulis, but to saue. And thei wenten in to another castel.
9:57	And it was don, whanne thei walkeden in the weie, a man seide to hym, Y schal sue thee, whidur euer thou go.
9:58	And Jhesus seide to hym, Foxis han dennes, and briddis of the eir han nestis, but mannus sone hath not where he reste his heed.
9:59	And he seide to another, Sue thou me. And he seide, Lord, suffre me first to go, and birie my fadir.
9:60	And Jhesus seide to hym, Suffre that deede men birie hir deede men; but go thou, and telle the kyngdom of God.
9:61	And another seide, Lord, Y schal sue thee, but first suffre me to leeue `alle thingis that ben at hoom.
9:62	And Jhesus seide to hym, No man that puttith his hoond to the plouy, and biholdynge bacward, is able to the rewme of God.


9:1	Then called he the .xii. to gether and gave them power and auctorite over all devyls and that they myght heale diseases.
9:2	And he sent them to preache the kyngdome of God and to cure the sick.
9:3	And he sayd to them: Take nothinge to sucker you by ye waye: nether staffe nor scripe nether breed nether money nether have twoo cootes.
9:4	And whatsoever housse ye enter into there abyde and thence departe.
9:5	And whosoever will not receave you when ye go out of that cite shake of the very dust from youre fete for a testimony agaynst them.
9:6	And they went out and went thorow the tounes preachinge the gospell and healynge every wheare.
9:7	And Herod the tetrarch herde of all that was done of him and douted because that it was sayde of some that Iohn was rysen agayne from deeth:
9:8	and of some that Helyas had apered: and of other that one of the olde prophetes was rysen agayne.
9:9	And Herod sayde: Iohn have I behedded: who then is this of whom I heare suche thinges? And he desyred to se him.
9:10	And the Apostles retourned and tolde him what great thinges they had done. And he toke them and went a syde into a solitary place nye to a citie called Bethsaida.
9:11	And ye people knewe of it and folowed him. And he receaved them and spake vnto them of the kyngdome of God and healed them that had nede to be healed.
9:12	And when ye daye beganne to weare awaye then came the twelve and sayde vnto him: sende ye people awaye that they maye goo into the tounes and villages roundabout and lodge and get meate for we are here in a place of wyldernes.
9:13	But he sayde vnto them: Geve ye the to eate. And they sayde. We have no moo but fyve loves and two fisshes except we shuld goo and bye meate for all this people.
9:14	And they were about a fyve thousand men. And he sayde to his disciples: Cause them to syt doune by fyfties in a company.
9:15	And they dyd soo and made them all syt doune.
9:16	And he toke the fyve loves and the two fisshes and loked vp to heven and blessed them and brake and gave to the disciples to set before ye people.
9:17	And they ate and were all satisfied. And ther was taken vp of that remayned to the twelve baskettes full of broken meate.
9:18	And it fortuned as he was alone prayinge his disciples were wt him and he axed the sayinge: Who saye ye people yt I am?
9:19	They answered and sayd: Iohn Baptist. Some saye Helyas. And some saye one of the olde prophetes is rysen agayne.
9:20	He sayde vnto the: Who saye ye that I am? Peter answered and sayde: thou arte the Christ of god.
9:21	And he warned and commaunded them that they shuld tell no man yt thinge
9:22	sayinge: that the sonne of man must suffre many thinges and be reproved of the elders and of the hye prestes and scribes and be slayne and the thirde daye ryse agayne.
9:23	And he sayde to them all yf eny man will come after me let him denye him sylfe and take vp his crosse dayly and folowe me.
9:24	Whosoever will save his lyfe shall lose it. And who soever shall lose his lyfe for my sake the same shall save it.
9:25	For what avauntageth it a man to wynne the whole worlde yf he loose him sylfe or runne in domage of him sylfe?
9:26	For whosoever is ashamed of me and of my sayinges: of him shall the sonne of man be ashamed when he cometh in his awne glorie and in the glorie of his father and of the holy angels.
9:27	And I tell you of a surety: There be some of the yt stonde here which shall not tast of deeth tyll they se ye kyngdome of god.
9:28	And it folowed about an .viii. dayes after thoose sayinges that he toke Peter Iames and Iohn and went vp into a moutayne to praye.
9:29	And as he prayed ye facion of his countenaunce was changed and his garment was whyte and shoone.
9:30	And beholde two men talked wt him and they were Moses and Helyas
9:31	which appered gloriously and spake of his departinge which he shuld ende at Ierusalem.
9:32	Peter and they that were with him were hevy with slepe. And when they woke they sawe his glorie and two men stondinge with him.
9:33	And it chaunsed as they departed fro him Peter sayde vnto Iesus: Master it is good beinge here for vs. Let vs make thre tabernacles one for the and one for Moses and one for Helyas: and wist not what he sayde.
9:34	Whyll he thus spake ther came a cloude and shadowed them: and they feared when they were come vnder the cloude.
9:35	And ther came a voyce out of the cloude sayinge: This is my deare sonne heare him.
9:36	And assone as ye voyce was past Iesus was founde alone. And they kept it cloose and tolde noo man in thoose dayes eny of those thinges which they had sene.
9:37	And it chaunsed on the nexte daye as they came doune from the hyll moche people met him.
9:38	And beholde a man of the copany cryed out sayinge: Master I beseche ye beholde my sonne for he is all that I have:
9:39	and se a sprete taketh him and sodenly he cryeth and he teareth him that he fometh agayne and with moche payne departeth fro him when he hath rent him and
9:40	I besought thy disciples to cast him out and they coulde not.
9:41	Iesus answered and sayde: O generacion with oute fayth and croked: how longe shall I be with you? and shall suffre you? Bringe thy sonne hidder.
9:42	As he yet was a cominge the fende ret him and tare him. And Iesus rebuked ye vnclene sprete and healed the childe and delivered him to his father.
9:43	And they were all amased at ye mighty power of God.Whyll they wondred every one at all thinges which he dyd he sayd vnto his disciples:
9:44	Let these sayinges synke doune into youre eares. The tyme will come when the sonne of man shalbe delivered into the hondes of men.
9:45	But they wist not what yt worde meant and yt was hyd fro the that they vnderstode yt not. And they feared to axe him of that sayinge.
9:46	Then ther arose a disputacion amoge the: who shuld be the greatest.
9:47	When Iesus perceaved ye thoughtes of their hertes he toke a chylde and set him hard by him
9:48	and sayd vnto the: Whosoever receaveth this chylde in my name receaveth me. And whosoever receaveth me receaveth him yt sent me. For he yt is least amonge you all the same shalbe greate.
9:49	And Iohn answered and sayde: Master we sawe one castinge out devyls in thy name and we forbade him because he foloweth not with vs.
9:50	And Iesus sayde vnto him: forbyd ye him not. For he that is not agaynst vs is wt vs.
9:51	And it folowed when the tyme was come yt he shulde be receaved vp then he set his face to goo to Hierusalem
9:52	and sent messengers before him. And they went and entred into a citie of the Samaritans to make redy for him.
9:53	But they wolde not receave him be cause his face was as though he wolde goo to Ierusalem.
9:54	When his disciples Iames and Iohn sawe yt they sayde: Lorde wilt thou that we comaunde that fyre come doune from heven and consume them even as Helias dyd?
9:55	Iesus turned about and rebuked them sayinge: ye wote not what maner sprete ye are of.
9:56	The sonne of ma ys not come to destroye mennes lives but to save them. And they went to another toune.
9:57	And it chaunsed as he went in the waye a certayne man sayd vnto him: I will folowe the whither soever thou goo.
9:58	Iesus sayd vnto him: foxes have holes and bryddes of ye ayer have nestes: but the sonne of man hath not where on to laye his heed.
9:59	And he sayde vnto another: folowe me. And the same sayde: Lorde suffre me fyrst to goo and bury my father.
9:60	Iesus sayd vnto him: Let the deed bury their deed: but goo thou and preache the kyngdome of God.
9:61	And another sayde: I wyll folowe the Lorde: but let me fyrst goo byd them fare well which are at home at my housse.
9:62	Iesus sayde vnto him: No man that putteth his honde to the plowe and loketh backe is apte to the kyngdome of God.

9:13	But he sayde vnto them: Geue ye them to eate. They sayde: We haue nomore but fyue loaues and two fysshes. Excepte we shulde go & bye meate for so moch people
9:14	(for there were vpon a fyue thousande men) But he sayde vnto his disciples: Cause them to syt downe by fifties in a copany.
9:15	And they dyd so, and made them all to syt downe.
9:16	Then toke he the fyue loaues and two fisshes, and loked vp towarde heaue, and sayde grace ouer them, brake them, and gaue them to the disciples, to set the before the people.
9:17	And they ate, and were all satisfied. And there were taken vp of that remayned to them, twolue baskettes full of broken meate.
9:18	And it fortuned whan he was alone, and at his prayer, and his disciples with him, he axed them, and sayde: Whom saye the people that I am?
9:19	They answered, and sayde: They saye, thou art Ihon the baptist: Some, that thou art Elias: Some, that one of the olde prophetes is rysen agayne.
9:20	But he sayde vnto them: Whom saye ye that I am? Then answered Peter and sayde: Thou art the Christ of God.
9:21	And he charged them strately, and commaunded them, that they shulde tell this vnto no ma,
9:22	and sayde: For the sonne of man must suffre many thinges, and be cast out of the Elders and of ye hye prestes, and scrybes, and be put to death, and ryse agayne the thirde daye.
9:23	Then sayde he vnto them all: Yf eny ma wil folowe me, let hi denie himself, & take vp his crosse daylie, & folowe me.
9:24	For who so euer wil saue his life, shal lose it. But who so loseth his life for my sake, shal saue it.
9:25	For what auauntage hath a man, though he wanne the whole worlde, and loseth himself, or runneth in dammage of himself?
9:26	Who so is ashamed of me and of my sayenges, of him shall the sonne of ma also be ashamed, whan he commeth in his glory, and in the glory of his father, and of the holy angels.
9:27	I saye vnto you of a treuth: there be some of them that stonde here, which shall not taist of death, tyll they se the kyngdome of God.
9:28	And it fortuned, that aboute an eight dayes after these wordes, he toke vnto him Peter, Ihon and Iames, and wente vp in to a mout for to praye.
9:29	And as he prayed, the shappe of his countenaunce was chaunged of another fashion, and his garment was whyte, and shyned:
9:30	and beholde, two men talked with him, Which were Moses and Elias,
9:31	that appeared gloriously, and spake of his departynge, which he shulde fulfill at Ierusalem.
9:32	As for Peter and them that were with him, they were full of slepe. But whan they awoke, they saw his glory, and the two men stondynge with him.
9:33	And it chaunsed, whan they departed fro him, Peter sayde vnto Iesus: Master, here is good beynge for vs. Let vs make thre tabernacles: one for the, one for Moses, and one for Elias, and wyst not what he sayde.
9:34	But whyle he thus spake, there came a cloude, and ouershadowed them. And they were afrayed, whan the cloude couered them.
9:35	And out of the cloude there came a voyce, which sayde: This is my deare sonne, heare him.
9:36	And whyle this voyce came to passe, they founde Iesus alone. And they kepte it close, and tolde no ma in those dayes eny of the thinges which they had sene.
9:37	And it chaunsed on the nexte daye after, whan they came downe from the mount. moch people met him,
9:38	and beholde, a man amonge the people cryed out, and sayde: Master, I beseke the, loke vpon my sonne, for he is my onely sonne:
9:39	beholde, the sprete taketh him, and sodenly he crieth, and he teareth him, that he fometh, and with payne departeth he from him, whan he hath rente him. And
9:40	I besought thy disciples to cast him out, and they coulde not.
9:41	Then answered Iesus, and sayde: Oh thou vnfaithfull and croked generacion, how longe shal I be with you, & suffre you? Brynge hither thy sonne.
9:42	And whan he came to him, the deuell rente him and tare him. But Iesus rebuked the foule sprete, and healed the chylde, and delyuered him vnto his father agayne.
9:43	And they were all amased at the mighty power of God.And whyle they wondred euery one at all thinges which he dyd, he sayde vnto his disciples:
9:44	Comprehende these sayenges in youre eares. For the sonne of man must be delyuered in to the hades of men.
9:45	But they wyst not what that worde meaned, and it was hyd from them, that they vnderstode it not. And they were afrayed to axe him of that worde.
9:46	There came a thought also amonge them, which of them shulde be the greatest.
9:47	But wha Iesus sawe the thoughtes of their hert, he toke a childe, & set him harde by him,
9:48	and sayde vnto them? Whosoeuer receaueth this childe in my name, receaueth me: and who so euer receaueth me, receaueth him that sent me. But who so is leest amoge you all, ye same shal be greate.
9:49	Then answered Iho, and sayde: Master, we sawe one dryue out deuels in thy name, and we forbad him, for he folowed the not with vs.
9:50	And Iesus saide vnto him: For byd him not, for he that is not agaynst vs, is for vs.
9:51	And it fortuned whan the tyme was fulfylled that he shulde be receaued vp from hence, he turned his face to go straight to Ierusalem,
9:52	and before him he sent messaungers, which wente their waye, and came into a towne of the Samaritans, to prepare lodginge for him.
9:53	And they wolde not receaue him, because he had turned his face to go to Ierusale.
9:54	But whan his disciples Iames and Ihon sawe that, they sayde: LORDE, wilt thou, that we commaunde, that fyre fall downe from heauen, and consume them, as Elias dyd?
9:55	Neuertheles Iesus turned him aboute, and rebuked them, and sayde: Knowe ye not, what maner of sprete ye are of?
9:56	The sonne of man is not come to destroye mens soules, but to saue them. And they wente in to another towne.
9:57	And it fortuned as they went by the waye, one sayde vnto him: I wil folowe the, whyther so euer thou go.
9:58	And Iesus sayde vnto him: The foxes haue holes, and the byrdes vnder the heaue haue nestes: but the sonne of man hath not wheron to laye his heade.
9:59	And he sayde vnto another: Folowe me. He sayde: Syr, geue me leue first to go, and burye my father.
9:60	But Iesus sayde vnto him: Let the deed burye their deed. But go thou thy waye, and preach the kyngdome of God.
9:61	And another sayde: Syr, I will folowe the, but geue me leue first, to go byd them farwele, which are at home in my house.
9:62	Iesus sayde vnto him: Who so putteth his hade to the plowe, and loketh backe, is not mete for the kingdome of God.
