Luke - Chapter: 11

>
11:1And it fortuned as he was praiynge in a certayne place: when he ceased, one of hys discyples said vnto hym: Mayster, teache vs to praye, as Iohn taught his disciples.
11:2And he sayde vnto them: When ye pray saye: O oure father whiche arte in heauen, halowed be thy name. Thy kyngedome come. They will be fulfylled euen in earthe as it is in heauen.
11:3Geue vs oure daylye breade euermore.
11:4And forgeue vs oure synnes: For euen we forgeue euery man that trespasseth vs: And ledde vs not into temptacyon. But deliuer vs from euyll.
11:5And he sayde vnto them: Yf any of you shoulde haue a frende, and shoulde go to hym at midnight, and saye vnto hym: frende lende me thre loues,
11:6for a frende of myne is come out of the waye to me, and I haue nothinge to set before him:
11:7and he within shoulde aunswere & saye: trouble me not, the dore is now shut, and my seruauntes are with me in the chamber, I cannot ryse, and geue them to the.
11:8I saye vnto you, thoughe he woulde not arise and geue him, because he is hys frende: yet because of hys importunitie he wold ryse, and geue him as many as he neded.
11:9And I saye vnto you: axe and it shalbe geuen you. Seke, and ye shal finde. Knocke, and it shalbe opened vnto you.
11:10For euery one that axeth, receyueth: and he that seketh, findeth: & to hym that knocketh shall it be opened
11:11Yf the sonne shall axe bread of any of you that is a father, will he geue him a stone? Or yf he axe fishe, will he for a fishe geue hym a serpente?
11:12Or yf he axe an egge, wyl he offer hym a scorpion?
11:13Yf ye then which are euill, can geue good gyftes vnto youre chyldren, howe much more shall the father of heauen geue an holy spirite to them that desyre it of hym?
11:14And he was castynge oute a deuyll, which was domme. And it folowed when the deuyl was gone out, the domme spake, & the people wondred.
11:15But some of them sayed: he casteth out deuyls by the power of Belzebub the chief of the deuyls.
11:16And other tempted hym, seking of him a signe from heauen.
11:17But he knew their thoughtes, and sayd vnto them: Euery kingdome deuyded within it selfe, shalbe desolate: and one house shall fall vpon another:
11:18So yf Satan be deuyded with in him selfe: how shal hys kyngdome endure? Because ye saye that I caste oute deuils by the power of Belzebub
11:19If I by the power of Belzebub caste oute deuyls: by whom do youre chyldren caste them oute? Therefore shall they be youre iudges.
11:20But yf I with the finger of God caste oute deuyls, no doubte the kyngedome of God is come.
11:21When a strong man armed, watched hys house, that he possesseth is in peace.
11:22But when a stronger then he cometh vpon hym & ouercommeth hym: he taketh from hym his harnes, wherin he trusted and deuydeth hys goodes.
11:23He that is not with me, is agaynste me. And he that gadereth not with me, scatereth.
11:24When the vncleane spirite is gone oute of a man, he walketh through waterles places, sekynge reste. And when he fyndeth none, he sayeth, I wyll returne agayne vnto my house whence I came out.
11:25And when he cometh, he findeth it swepte and garnyshed.
11:26Then goeth he and taketh to him seuen other spirites worse then hym selfe: and they enter in, and dwell there. And the ende of that man, is worsse then the begynnynge.
11:27And it fortuned as he spake those thinges, a certayne woman of the companye lyft vp her voyce, and sayde vnto hym: Happy is the wombe that bare the, and the pappes whiche gaue the sucke.
11:28But he sayde: Yea, happye are they that heare the worde of God, and kepe it.
11:29When the people were gathered thycke together: he began to saye: Thys is an euyll nacyon: they seke a signe, and there shal no signe be geuen them, but the signe of Ionas the prophet.
11:30For as Ionas was a signe to the Niniuites, so shall the sonne of man be to thys nacion.
11:31The quene of the south shall ryse at iudgement with the men of thys generation: & condempne them: for she came from the ende of the world to heare the wysdome of Salomon. And beholde a greater then Salomon is here.
11:32The men of Niniue shall ryse at the iudgement wt thys generacyon, and condempne them: for they repented at the preaching of Ionas. And beholde a greater then Ionas is here.
11:33No man lyghteth a candell, & putteth in a pryuy place, neyther vnder a bushell: but on a candelsticke, that they that come in, maye se the lyght.
11:34The lyght of thy body is the eye Therfor when thyne eye is single: then is al thy body full of lyghte. But yf thyne eye be euyll: then shall thy bodye also be ful of darknes.
11:35Take hede therfore that the lyght whiche is in the, be not darcknes.
11:36For yf all thy body shalbe lyght, hauyng no parte darke, then shal all be full of lyght, euen as when a candell doth lyght the with hys brightnes.
11:37And as he spake, a certayne Pharisey besought hym to done with hym, and he wente in, & sat doune.
11:38When the Pharisei sawe that he marueyled that he had not fyrste weshed before dyner.
11:39And the Lorde sayde to hym: Now do ye pharyses make cleane the outsyde of the cup, and of the platter: but your inward parties are full of rauenyng and wickednes.
11:40Ye foles, dyd not he that made that which is without: make that whiche is within also?
11:41Neuerthelesse geue almose of that ye haue, and beholde all is cleane to you.
11:42But wo be to you Pharyses: for the tyth the mint and rew, and al maner herbes, and passe ouer iudgement and the loue of God. These ought ye to haue lefte the other vndone.
11:43Wo be to you Pharises, for ye loue the vppermost seates in the synagoges, and gretynges in the markettes.
11:44Wo be to you scribes and pharyses, hypocrites, for ye are as graues which appere not, and the men that walke ouer them, are not ware of them.
11:45Then aunswered one of the lawyers, and sayed vnto hym: Mayster, thus saiyng, thou puttest vs to rebuke also.
11:46Then he sayde: Wo be to you also ye lawyars, for ye lade men wt burthens greuous to be borne, and ye youre selues touche not the packes with one of your fyngers.
11:47Wo be to you: ye buylde the sepulchres of of the Prophetes, and youre fathers kylled them,
11:48truelye ye beare witnes, that ye alowe the deedes of youre fathers: for they kylled them, and ye buylde theyr sepulchres.
11:49Therfore sayde the wysdome of God: I wyll send them Prophetes and Apostles, and of them they shall slea and persecute,
11:50that the bloude of all Prophetes which was shede from the beginnynge of the worlde, maye be requyred of thys generacion
11:51from the bloude of Abell vnto the bloude of Zacharye, whiche peryshed betwene the aulter and the temple. Verelye I saye vnto you, it shalbe requyred of thys nacyon.
11:52Wo be to you lawyers: for ye haue taken away the keye of knoweledge, ye entred not in your selues, and them that came in, ye forbade.
11:53When he thus spake vnto them, the lawyers, and the Pharyses began to wexe busye aboute hym, and to stop hys mouthe with manye questyons,
11:54layinge wayte for hym, and sekynge to catche some thynge of hys mouthe, whereby they myghte accuse hym.

11:1And it fortuned as he was prayinge in a certayne place: when he ceased, one of his disciples sayde vnto hym: Lorde, teache vs to praye, as Iohn also taught hys disciples.
11:2And he sayde vnto them: when ye praye, saye. O oure father which art in heauen, halowed be thy name. Thy kyngdome come. Thy will be fulfilled, euen in erth also as it is in heauen.
11:3Oure dayly breed geue vs this daye.
11:4And forgeue vs our synnes: For euen we forgeue euery man that treapaseth vs. And Leade vs not into temptacion But deliuer vs from euyll.
11:5And he sayd vnto them: yf any of you shall haue a frend, & shall go to him at mydnight, and saye vnto him, frende: lende me thre loaues,
11:6for a frende of myne is come out of the waye to me, and I haue nothynge to set before him,
11:7and he within answere, and saye: trouble me not, the dore is now shut, and my chyldren are with me in the chamber, I cannot ryse and geue the.
11:8I saye vnto you, though he wyll not arise and geue him, because he is his frende: yet because of his importunite he will rise, and geue him as many as he nedeth.
11:9And I saye vnto you: aske, and it shalbe geuen you. Seke, and ye shall fynde: Knocke, and it shalbe opened vnto you.
11:10For euery one that asketh, receaueth: and he that seketh, fyndeth: & to him that knocketh, shall it be opened.
11:11Yf the sonne shall aske breed of eny of you that is a father, wyll he geue him a stone? Or yf he aske fishe, wyll he for fysshe geue him a serpent?
11:12Or yf he aske an egge, will he offer him a scorpion?
11:13Yf ye then beyng euyll, can geue good giftes vnto youre children, how moch moare shall your father of heauen geue the holy sprete to them, that desyre it of him?
11:14And he was castinge out a deuyll, and the same was domme. And when he had cast out the deuill, the domme spake, & the people wondred.
11:15But some of them sayde: he casteth out deuyls thorowe Beelzebub the chefe of the deuyls.
11:16And other tempted him and requyred of him a signe from heauen.
11:17But he knowing their thoughtes, sayd vnto them: Euery kyngdome deuided agaynst it selfe, is desolate: and one house doth fall vpon another.
11:18Yf Satan also, be deuyded agaynst him selfe, how shall his kyngdome endure? Because ye saye, that I cast out deuyls thorow Beelzebub.
11:19If I, by the helpe of Beelzebub cast out deuyls, by whose helpe do youre chyldren cast them out. Therfore shall they be your iudges.
11:20But yf I, with the fynger of God cast out deuyls, no doute the kyngdome of God is come vpon you.
11:21When a stronge man armed watcheth his house: the thinges that he possesseth are in peace.
11:22But when a stronger then he commeth vpon him, and ouercommeth him, he taketh from him all his harnes (wherin he trusted) and deuideth his goodes.
11:23He that is not with me, is against me. And he that gathereth not with me, scattereth abrode.
11:24When the vnclene spryte is gone out of a man, he walketh through drie places, sekynge reest. And when he fyndeth none, he sayeth: I will returne agayne vnto my houses, whence I came out.
11:25And when he commeth, he fyndeth it swept and garnisshed.
11:26Then goeth he and taketh to him seuen other spretes worse then him selfe: and they enter in, & dwell there. And the ende of that man, is worse then the begynnynge.
11:27And it fortuned that as he spake these thynges, a certayne woman of the company lyfte vp her voyce, and sayd vnto him. Happy is the wombe that bare the, and the pappes which gaue the sucke.
11:28But he sayde: Yee, happy are they that heare the worde of God and kepe it.
11:29When the people were gathered thicke together, he began to saye. This is an euyll nacion. they seke a sygne, and ther shall no sygne be geuen them, but the sygne of Ionas the prophet.
11:30For as Ionas was a sygne to the Niniuytes, so shall also the sonne of man be to thys nacion.
11:31The quene of the south shall ryse at the iudgement, with the men of this nacion, and condempne them: for she came from the vttemost partes of the erth, to heare the wisdome of Salomon. And beholde a greater then Salomon is here.
11:32The men of Niniue shall ryse at the iudgement with this nacyon: and shall condempne them: for they were brought to repentaunce by the preachynge of Ionas. And beholde, a greater then Ionas is here.
11:33No man lyghteth a candell, and putteth it in a preuy place, nether vnder a busshell: but on a candelstycke, that they which come in, maye se the light.
11:34The lyght of the body is the eye. Therfore, when thyne eye is syngle, all thy body also shalbe full of lyght. But yf thyne eye be euill, thy body also shalbe full of darknes,
11:35Take hede therfore, that the lyght which is in the, be not darcknes.
11:36Yf all thy body therfore be cleare, hauynge no parte darcke: then shal it all be full of light, euen as when a candell doeth lyght the with bryghtnes.
11:37And as he spake, a certayne Pharyse besought him, to dyne with him, and Iesus went in, and sate doune to meate.
11:38When the Pharyse sawe it, he marueyled, that he had not fyrst wesshed before dyner.
11:39And the Lorde sayde vnto him: Now do ye Pharises, make clene the out syde of the cup, and the platter: but youre inwarde parte is full of rauenynge and wyckednes.
11:40Ye fooles, dyd not he (that made that which is without) make that which is within also?
11:41Neuerthelesse, geue almose of that ye haue, and behold, all thinges are cleane vnto you.
11:42But wo vnto you Pharises, for ye tythe mynt and rewe, and all manner erbes, and passe ouer iudgement and the loue of God. These ought ye to haue done, and yet not to leaue the other vndone.
11:43Wo vnto you Pharises: for ye loue the vppermost seates in the sinagoges, and gretinges in the market.
11:44Wo vnto you scrybes and Pharises, ye ypocrites, for ye are as graues which appeare not, and the men that walke ouer them, are not ware of them.
11:45Then answered one of the lawears, and sayde vnto him: Master, thus saying thou puttest vs to rebuke also.
11:46And he sayde: wo vnto you also ye lawers: for ye lade men with burthens which they be not not able to beare: and ye youre selues touche not the packes with one of youre fyngers.
11:47Wo vnto you: ye buylde the sepulchres of the Prophetes, and youre fathers kylled them,
11:48truly ye beare witnes, that ye alowe the dedes of youre fathers: for they kylled them, and ye buylde their sepulchres.
11:49Therfore sayde the wisdome of God, I will send them Prophetes and Apostles and some of them they shall slaye and persecute:
11:50that the bloude of all Prophetes (which is shed from the begynninge of the worlde) maye be required of this generacion,
11:51from the bloude of Abell, vnto the bloud of Zachary, which perished betwene the aulter and the temple. Uerely I saye vnto you: it shalbe required of this nacion.
11:52Wo vnto you lawears: for ye haue taken awaye the keye of knowledge, ye entred not in youre selues, and them that came in, ye forbad.
11:53When he thus spake vnto them, the lawears and the Pharises began to wexe busye aboute him, and capciously to aske him many thinges,
11:54layinge wayte for him, and sekynge to catche some thinge of his mouth, wherby they might accuse him.

11:1And so it was, that as he was praying in a certaine place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said vnto him, Lord, teache vs to pray, as Iohn also taught his disciples.
11:2And he said vnto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father, which art in heauen, halowed be thy Name: Thy kingdome come: Let thy will be done, euen in earth, as it is in heauen:
11:3Our dayly bread giue vs for the day:
11:4And forgiue vs our sinnes: for euen we forgiue euery man that is indetted to vs: And leade vs not into temptation: but deliuer vs from euill.
11:5Moreouer he said vnto them, Which of you shall haue a friende, and shall goe to him at midnight, and say vnto him, Friende, lende mee three loaues?
11:6For a friende of mine is come out of the way to me, and I haue nothing to set before him:
11:7And hee within shoulde answere, and say, Trouble mee not: the doore is nowe shut, and my children are with mee in bed: I can not rise and giue them to thee.
11:8I say vnto you, Though he would not arise and giue him, because he is his friende, yet doubtlesse because of his importunitie, hee woulde rise, and giue him as many as he needed.
11:9And I say vnto you, Aske, and it shall be giuen you: seeke, and yee shall finde: knocke, and it shalbe opened vnto you.
11:10For euery one that asketh, receiueth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shalbe opened.
11:11If a sonne shall aske bread of any of you that is a father, will he giue him a stone? or if hee aske a fish, will he for a fish giue him a serpent?
11:12Or if hee aske an egge, will hee giue him a scorpion?
11:13If yee then which are euill, can giue good giftes vnto your children, howe much more shall your heauenly Father giue the holy Ghost to them, that desire him?
11:14Then hee cast out a deuill which was domme: and when the deuill was gone out, the domme spake, and the people wondered.
11:15But some of them said, He casteth out deuils through Beelzebub the chiefe of ye deuils.
11:16And others tempted him, seeking of him a signe from heauen.
11:17But he knew their thoughts, and said vnto them, Euery kingdom deuided against it self, shall be desolate, and an house deuided against an house, falleth.
11:18So if Satan also bee deuided against himselfe, howe shall his kingdome stande, because yee say that I cast out deuils through Beelzebub?
11:19If I through Beelzebub cast out deuils, by whome doe your children cast them out? Therefore shall they be your iudges.
11:20But if I by ye finger of God cast out deuils, doutles the kingdome of God is come vnto you.
11:21When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, the thinges that hee possesseth, are in peace.
11:22But when a stronger then hee, commeth vpon him, and ouercommeth him: hee taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and deuideth his spoiles.
11:23He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
11:24When the vncleane spirite is gone out of a man, he walketh through drie places, seeking rest: and when he findeth none he saieth, I wil returne vnto mine house whence I came out.
11:25And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
11:26Then goeth hee, and taketh to him seuen other spirites worse then himselfe: and they enter in, and dwel there: so the last state of that man is worse then the first.
11:27And it came to passe as he sayde these thinges, a certaine woman of the companie lifted vp her voyce, and sayde vnto him, Blessed is the wombe that bare thee, and the pappes which thou hast sucked.
11:28But hee saide, Yea, rather blessed are they that heare the woorde of God, and keepe it.
11:29And when the people were gathered thicke together, he began to say, This is a wicked generation: they seeke a signe, and there shall no signe be giuen them, but the signe of Ionas the Prophet.
11:30For as Ionas was a signe to the Niniuites: so shall also the Sonne of man bee to this generation.
11:31The Queene of the South shall rise in iudgement, with the men of this generation, and shall condemne them: for shee came from the vtmost partes of the earth to heare the wisedome of Salomon, and beholde, a greater then Salomon is here.
11:32The men of Niniue shall rise in iudgement with this generation, and shall condemne it: for they repented at the preaching of Ionas: and beholde, a greater then Ionas is here.
11:33No man when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a priuie place, neither vnder a bushell: but on a candlesticke, that they which come in, may see the light.
11:34The light of the bodie is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, then is thy whole bodie light: but if thine eye be euill, then thy bodie is darke.
11:35Take heede therefore, that the light which is in thee, be not darkenesse.
11:36If therefore thy whole body shall be light, hauing no part darke, then shall all be light, euen as when a candle doth light thee with the brightnesse.
11:37And as hee spake, a certaine Pharise besought him to dine with him: and hee went in, and sate downe at table.
11:38And when the Pharise saw it, he marueiled that he had not first washed before dinner.
11:39And the Lord saide to him, In deede yee Pharises make cleane the outside of the cuppe, and of the platter: but the inwarde part is full of rauening and wickednesse.
11:40Ye fooles, did not he that made that which is without, make that which is within also?
11:41Therefore, giue almes of those thinges which you haue, and beholde, all thinges shall be cleane to you.
11:42But wo be to you, Pharises: for ye tithe the mynt and the rewe, and all maner herbs, and passe ouer iudgement and the loue of God: these ought yee to haue done, and not to haue left the other vndone.
11:43Wo be to you, Pharises: for ye loue the vppermost seats in the Synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
11:44Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are as graues which appeare not, and the men that walke ouer them, perceiue not.
11:45Then answered one of the Lawyers, and saide vnto him, Master, thus saying thou puttest vs to rebuke also.
11:46And he sayde, Wo be to you also, yee Lawyers: for yee lade men with burdens grieuous to be borne, and yee your selues touche not the burdens with one of your fingers.
11:47Wo be to you: for ye builde the sepulchres of the Prophetes, and your fathers killed them.
11:48Truely ye beare witnesse, and allowe the deedes of your fathers: for they killed them, and yee build their sepulchres.
11:49Therefore said the wisedome of God, I wil sende them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slaie, and persecute away,
11:50That the blood of all the Prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,
11:51From the blood of Abel vnto the blood of Zacharias, which was slaine betweene the altar and the Temple: verely I say vnto you, it shall be required of this generation.
11:52Wo be to you, Lawyers: for ye haue taken away the key of knowledge: ye entred not in your selues, and them that came in, ye forbade.
11:53And as he sayde these things vnto them, the Scribes and Pharises began to vrge him sore, and to prouoke him to speake of many things,
11:54Laying wait for him, and seeking to catche some thing of his mouth, whereby they might accuse him.
