Luke - Chapter: 13

>
13:1And there were present certain at that time, telling him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate did mingle with their sacrifices;
13:2and Jesus answering said to them, `Think ye that these Galileans became sinners beyond all the Galileans, because they have suffered such things?
13:3No -- I say to you, but, if ye may not reform, all ye even so shall perish.
13:4`Or those eighteen, on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them; think ye that these became debtors beyond all men who are dwelling in Jerusalem?
13:5No -- I say to you, but, if ye may not reform, all ye in like manner shall perish.'
13:6And he spake this simile: `A certain one had a fig-tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit in it, and he did not find;
13:7and he said unto the vine-dresser, Lo, three years I come seeking fruit in this fig-tree, and do not find, cut it off, why also the ground doth it render useless?
13:8`And he answering saith to him, Sir, suffer it also this year, till that I may dig about it, and cast in dung;
13:9and if indeed it may bear fruit --; and if not so, thereafter thou shalt cut it off.'
13:10And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath,
13:11and lo, there was a woman having a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bowed together, and not able to bend back at all,
13:12and Jesus having seen her, did call `her' near, and said to her, `Woman, thou hast been loosed from thy infirmity;'
13:13and he laid on her `his' hands, and presently she was set upright, and was glorifying God.
13:14And the chief of the synagogue answering -- much displeased that on the sabbath Jesus healed -- said to the multitude, `Six days there are in which it behoveth `us' to be working; in these, then, coming, be healed, and not on the sabbath-day.'
13:15Then the Lord answered him and said, `Hypocrite, doth not each of you on the sabbath loose his ox or ass from the stall, and having led away, doth water `it'?
13:16and this one, being a daughter of Abraham, whom the Adversary bound, lo, eighteen years, did it not behove to be loosed from this bond on the sabbath-day?'
13:17And he saying these things, all who were opposed to him were being ashamed, and all the multitude were rejoicing over all the glorious things that are being done by him.
13:18And he said, `To what is the reign of God like? and to what shall I liken it?
13:19It is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, did cast into his garden, and it increased, and came to a great tree, and the fowls of the heavens did rest in its branches.'
13:20And again he said, `To what shall I liken the reign of God?
13:21It is like leaven, which a woman, having taken, did hide in three measures of meal, till that all was leavened.'
13:22And he was going through cities and villages, teaching, and making progress toward Jerusalem;
13:23and a certain one said to him, `Sir, are those saved few?' and he said unto them,
13:24`Be striving to go in through the straight gate, because many, I say to you, will seek to go in, and shall not be able;
13:25from the time the master of the house may have risen up, and may have shut the door, and ye may begin without to stand, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, lord, open to us, and he answering shall say to you, I have not known you whence ye are,
13:26then ye may begin to say, We did eat before thee, and did drink, and in our broad places thou didst teach;
13:27and he shall say, I say to you, I have not known you whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of the unrighteousness.
13:28`There shall be there the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth, when ye may see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the reign of God, and yourselves being cast out without;
13:29and they shall come from east and west, and from north and south, and shall recline in the reign of God,
13:30and lo, there are last who shall be first, and there are first who shall be last.'
13:31On that day there came near certain Pharisees, saying to him, `Go forth, and be going on hence, for Herod doth wish to kill thee;'
13:32and he said to them, `Having gone, say to this fox, Lo, I cast forth demons, and perfect cures to-day and to-morrow, and the third `day' I am being perfected;
13:33but it behoveth me to-day, and to-morrow, and the `day' following, to go on, because it is not possible for a prophet to perish out of Jerusalem.
13:34`Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that is killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto her, how often did I will to gather together thy children, as a hen her brood under the wings, and ye did not will.
13:35`Lo, your house is being left to you desolate, and verily I say to you -- ye may not see me, till it may come, when ye may say, Blessed `is' he who is coming in the name of the Lord.'

13:1Ther were present at the same season that shewed him of ye Galileas whose bloude Pylate mengled with their awne sacrifice.
13:2And Iesus answered and sayde vnto them: Suppose ye that these Galileans were greater synners then all the other Galileas because they suffred suche punisshmet?
13:3I tell you naye: but except ye repent ye shall all in lyke wyse perysshe.
13:4Or those .xviii. apon which ye toure in Syloe fell and slewe the thinke ye that they were synners above all men yt dwell in Ierusalem?
13:5I tell you naye: But excepte ye repent ye all shall lykewyse perisshe.
13:6He put forthe this similiiude A certayne man had a fygge tree planted in his veneyarde and he came and sought frute theron and founde none.
13:7Then sayde he to ye dresser of his vyneyarde: Beholde this thre yeare have I come and sought frute in this fygge tree and fynde none: cut it doune: why combreth it the grounde?
13:8And he answered and sayde vnto him: lorde let it alone this yeare also till I digge rounde aboute it and doge it to se
13:9whether it will beare frute: and if it beare not then after yt cut it doune
13:10And he taught in one of their sinagoges on ye saboth dayes.
13:11And beholde ther was a woma which had a sprete of infirmite .xviii. yeares: and was bowed to gether and coulde not lifte vp hersilfe at all.
13:12When Iesus sawe her he called her to him and sayde to her: woman thou arte delyvered from thy disease.
13:13And he layde his hondes on her and immediatly she was made strayght and glorified God.
13:14And the ruler of the sinagoge answered with indignacion (be cause that Iesus had healed on the saboth daye) and sayde vnto the people. Ther are sixe dayes in which men ought to worke: in them come and be healed and not on the saboth daye.
13:15Then answered him the Lorde and sayd: Ypocrite doth not eache one of you on the saboth daye lowse his oxe or his asse from the stall and leade him to the water?
13:16And ought not this doughter of Abraham whom Sathan hath bounde loo .xviii. yeares be lowsed from this bonde on the saboth daye?
13:17And when he thus sayde all his adversaries were ashamed and all the people reioysed on all the excellent dedes that were done by him.
13:18Then sayde he: What is the kyngdome of God lyke? or wherto shall I compare it?
13:19It is lyke a grayne of mustard seede which a man toke and sowed in his garden: and it grewe and wexed a greate tree and the foules of the ayer made nestes in the braunches of it.
13:20And agayne he sayde: wher vnto shall I lyken ye kyngdome of god?
13:21it is lyke leve which a woman toke and hidde in thre busshels of floure tyll all was thorow levended.
13:22And he went thorow all maner of cities and tounes teachinge and iorneyinge towardes Ierusalem.
13:23Then sayde one vnto him: Lorde are ther feawe that shalbe saved? And he sayde vnto them:
13:24stryve with youre selves to enter in at ye strayte gate: For many I saye vnto you will seke to enter in and shall not be able.
13:25When the good man of ye housse is rysen vp and hath shett to the dore ye shall beginne to stonde with out and to knocke at the dore sayinge: Lorde lorde open vnto vs: and he shall answer and saye vnto you: I knowe you not whence ye are.
13:26Then shall ye begin to saye. We have eaten in thy presence and dronke and thou hast taught in oure stretes.
13:27And he shall saye: I tell you I knowe you not whence ye are: departe from me all ye workers of iniquite.
13:28There shalbe wepinge and gnasshinge of teth when ye shall se Abraham and Isaac and Iacob and all the prophetes in the kyngdom of God and youre selves thrust oute at dores.
13:29And they shall come from the eest and from the weest and from the northe and from the southe and shall syt doune in the kyngdome of God.
13:30And beholde ther are last which shalbe fyrst: And ther are fyrst which shalbe last.
13:31The same daye there came certayne of the pharises and sayd vnto him: Get the out of the waye and departe hence: for Herode will kyll ye.
13:32And he sayd vnto them. Goo ye and tell that foxe beholde I cast oute devyls and heale the people to daye and to morowe and the third daye I make an ende.
13:33Neverthelesse I must walke todaye and tomorowe and the daye folowinge: For it cannot be that a Prophet perishe eny other where save at Ierusalem.
13:34O Ierusalem Ierusalem which kyllest prophetes and stonest them that are sent to ye: how often wolde I have gadered thy childre to gedder as the hen gathereth her nest vnder her wynges but ye wolde not.
13:35Beholde youre habitacion shalbe left vnto you desolate. For I tell you ye shall not se me vntill the tyme come that ye shall saye blessed is he that commeth in the name of the Lorde.

13:1There were present at the same season certayne, that shewed him of ye Galileans, whose bloude Pilate had megled with their awne sacrifice.
13:2And Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them: Suppose ye, that these Galileas were greater synners then all the other Galileans, because they suffred soch punyshment?
13:3I tell you naye, but excepte ye amede youre selues, ye shal all perishe likewyse.
13:4Or thinke ye that ye eightene (vpon whom the tower in Siloe fell and slewe them) were giltie aboue all men that dwell at Ierusalem?
13:5I tell you naye: but excepte ye amende youre selues, ye shal all perishe likewyse.
13:6And he tolde them this symilitude: A certayne ma had a fygge tre, which was planted in his vynyarde, & he came and sought frute theron, and founde none.
13:7Then sayde he vnto the wynegardener: Beholde, This thre yeare longe haue I come euery yeare, and sought frute vpon this fygge tre, and fynde none: cut it downe, why hyndreth it the grounde?
13:8But he answered, and sayde: Syr, let it alone yet this yeare, tyll I dygge roude aboute it and donge it,
13:9yf it wyl brynge forth frute: Yf no, then cut it downe afterwarde.
13:10And he taught in a synagoge vpon the Sabbath:
13:11and beholde, there was a woma, which had a sprete of infirmyte eightene yeares, and was croked, and coulde not well loke vp.
13:12Whan Iesus sawe her, he called her to him, and sayde vnto her: Woman, be delyuered from thy disease.
13:13And he layed his handes vpo her, and immediatly she was made straight, and praysed God.
13:14Then answered the ruler of the synagoge, and toke indignacion (because Iesus healed vpo ye Sabbath) and sayde vnto the people: There are sixe dayes, wherin men ought to worke, in them come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath.
13:15Then the LORDE answered him, and sayde: Thou ypocryte, doth not euery one of you lowse his oxe or asse fro the crybbe vpo Sabbath, and leade him to the water?
13:16But shulde not this (which is Abrahams doughter) whom Sathan hath bounde now eightene yeares, be lowsed from this bonde vpo the Sabbath?
13:17And whan he thus sayde, all his aduersaries were ashamed. And all the people reioysed ouer all the excellent dedes, that were done by him.
13:18And he sayde: What is the kyngdome of God like? Or wher vnto shal I copare it?
13:19It is like a grayne of mustarde sede, which a man toke, and cast in his garden: and it grewe, and waxed a greate tre, and the foules of the ayre dwelt amonge the braunches of it.
13:20And agayne he sayde: Where vnto shal I licken the kyngdome of God?
13:21It is like vnto leuen, which a woman toke, and myxte it amoge thre peckes of meele, tyll it was all leuended.
13:22And he wete thorow cities and townes, and taught, and toke his iourney towarde Ierusalem.
13:23And one sayde vnto him: LORDE, are there few (thinkest thou) that shalbe saued? But he sayde vnto them:
13:24Stryue ye to entre in at the strayte gate, for many (I saye vnto you) shal seke to come in, and shal not be able.
13:25From that tyme forth, whan the good man of the house is rysen vp, and hath shut the dore, then shal ye begynne to stonde without, and to knocke at ye dore, and saye: LORDE LORDE, open vnto vs. And he shal answere, and saye vnto you: I knowe you not whe
13:26Then shal ye begynne to saye: We haue eaten and dronken before the, and thou hast taught vs vpon ye stretes.
13:27And he shal saye: I tell you, I knowe you not whence ye are. Departe fro me all ye workers of iniquyte.
13:28There shalbe wepynge and gnasshinge of teth, when ye shal se Abraham, and Isaac, and Iacob and all the prophetes in ye kyngdome of God, and youre selues thrust out,
13:29And wha they shal come from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south, which shal syt at ye table in the kyngdome of God.
13:30And beholde, there are last, which shal be fyrst: and there are first, which shalbe last.
13:31Vpon the same daye there came certayne of ye Pharises, and sayde vnto him: Get the out of the waye, and departe hence, for Herode wyl kyll the.
13:32And he sayde vnto the: Go ye and tell that foxe: beholde, I cast out deuels, and heale the people todaye and tomorow, and vpo the thirde daye shal I make an ende:
13:33for it can not be, that a prophet perishe without Ierusalem.
13:34O Ierusalem Ierusale, thou that kyllest the prophetes, and stonest the that are sent vnto ye, how oft wolde I haue gathered thy children together, euen as the henne gathereth hir nest vnder hir wynges, and ye wolde not?
13:35Beholde, yor habitacion shal be left vnto you desolate. For I saye vnto you: ye shal not se me, tyll ye tyme come that ye shal saye: blessed be he, yt cometh in ye name of the LORDE.
