Luke - Chapter: 15

>
15:1And all the tax-gatherers and the sinners were coming nigh to him, to hear him,
15:2and the Pharisees and the scribes were murmuring, saying -- This one doth receive sinners, and doth eat with them.'
15:3And he spake unto them this simile, saying,
15:4`What man of you having a hundred sheep, and having lost one out of them, doth not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go on after the lost one, till he may find it?
15:5and having found, he doth lay `it' on his shoulders rejoicing,
15:6and having come to the house, he doth call together the friends and the neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me, because I found my sheep -- the lost one.
15:7`I say to you, that so joy shall be in the heaven over one sinner reforming, rather than over ninety-nine righteous men, who have no need of reformation.
15:8`Or what woman having ten drachms, if she may lose one drachm, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek carefully till that she may find?
15:9and having found, she doth call together the female friends and the neighbours, saying, Rejoice with me, for I found the drachm that I lost.
15:10`So I say to you, joy doth come before the messengers of God over one sinner reforming.'
15:11And he said, `A certain man had two sons,
15:12and the younger of them said to the father, Father, give me the portion of the substance falling to `me', and he divided to them the living.
15:13`And not many days after, having gathered all together, the younger son went abroad to a far country, and there he scattered his substance, living riotously;
15:14and he having spent all, there came a mighty famine on that country, and himself began to be in want;
15:15and having gone on, he joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him to the fields to feed swine,
15:16and he was desirous to fill his belly from the husks that the swine were eating, and no one was giving to him.
15:17`And having come to himself, he said, How many hirelings of my father have a superabundance of bread, and I here with hunger am perishing!
15:18having risen, I will go on unto my father, and will say to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before thee,
15:19and no more am I worthy to be called thy son; make me as one of thy hirelings.
15:20`And having risen, he went unto his own father, and he being yet far distant, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and having ran he fell upon his neck and kissed him;
15:21and the son said to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before thee, and no more am I worthy to be called thy son.
15:22`And the father said unto his servants, Bring forth the first robe, and clothe him, and give a ring for his hand, and sandals for the feet;
15:23and having brought the fatted calf, kill `it', and having eaten, we may be merry,
15:24because this my son was dead, and did live again, and he was lost, and was found; and they began to be merry.
15:25`And his elder son was in a field, and as, coming, he drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing,
15:26and having called near one of the young men, he was inquiring what these things might be,
15:27and he said to him -- Thy brother is arrived, and thy father did kill the fatted calf, because in health he did receive him back.
15:28`And he was angry, and would not go in, therefore his father, having come forth, was entreating him;
15:29and he answering said to the father, Lo, so many years I do serve thee, and never thy command did I transgress, and to me thou didst never give a kid, that with my friends I might make merry;
15:30but when thy son -- this one who did devour thy living with harlots -- came, thou didst kill to him the fatted calf.
15:31`And he said to him, Child, thou art always with me, and all my things are thine;
15:32but to be merry, and to be glad, it was needful, because this thy brother was dead, and did live again, he was lost, and was found.'

15:1Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.
15:2And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
15:3And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
15:4What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
15:5And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
15:6And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
15:7I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
15:8Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
15:9And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
15:10Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
15:11And he said, A certain man had two sons:
15:12And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
15:13And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
15:14And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15:15And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
15:16And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
15:17And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
15:18I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
15:19And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
15:20And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
15:21And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
15:22But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
15:23And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
15:24For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
15:25Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
15:26And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
15:27And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
15:28And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
15:29And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
15:30But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
15:31And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
15:32It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

15:1And all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to Him, to hear Him.
15:2And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying, This one receives sinners and eats with them.
15:3And He spoke to them this parable, saying,
15:4What man of you having a hundred sheep, and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety nine in the deserted place and go after the lost one until he finds it?
15:5And finding it , he puts it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
15:6And coming to the house, he calls together the friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that had been lost.
15:7I say to you that so is joy in Heaven over one sinner repenting, than over ninety nine righteous ones who have no need of repentance.
15:8Or what woman having ten drachmas, if she loses one drachma does not light a lamp and sweep the house, and look carefully until she finds it?
15:9And finding it , she calls together the friends and neighbors, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the drachma which I lost.
15:10I say to you, so there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner repenting.
15:11And He said, A certain man had two sons.
15:12And the younger of them said to the father, Father give me that part of the property falling to me . And he divided the living to them.
15:13And not many days after, gathering up all things, the younger son went away to a distant country. And there he wasted his property, living dissolutely.
15:14But having spent all his things, a severe famine came throughout that country, and he began to be in need.
15:15And going, he was joined to one of the citizens of that country. And he sent him into his fields to feed pigs.
15:16And he longed to fill his stomach from the husks which the pigs ate, but no one gave to him.
15:17But coming to himself he said, How many servants of my father have plenty of loaves, and I am perishing with famine.
15:18Rising up, I will go to my father, and I will say to him, Father, I sinned against Heaven and before you,
15:19and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me as one of your hired servants.
15:20And rising up, he came to his father. But he yet being far away, his father saw him and was moved with pity. And running, he fell on his neck and fervently kissed him.
15:21And the son said to him, Father, I have sinned against Heaven and before you, and no longer am I worthy to be called your son.
15:22But the father said to his slaves, Bring out the best robe and clothe him, and give a ring for his hand and sandals for his feet.
15:23And bring the fattened calf, slaughter and let us eat and be merry;
15:24for this son of mine was dead, and lived again, and was lost, and was found. And they began to be merry.
15:25But the older son was in a field. And having come, as he drew near to the house, he heard music and dances.
15:26And having called one of the children, he inquired what this may be.
15:27And he said to him, Your brother came, and your father killed the fattened calf, because he received him back in health.
15:28But he was angry and did not desire to go in. Then coming out, his father begged him.
15:29But answering, he said to the father, Behold, so many years I serve you, and never have I transgressed a command of you. And you never gave a goat to me , so that I might be merry with my friends.
15:30But when this son of yours came, the one devouring your living with harlots, you killed the fattened calf for him.
15:31But he said to him, Child, you are always with me, and all of my things are yours.
15:32But to be merry and to rejoice was right, for this brother of yours was dead, and lived again; and being lost, also he was found.
