Luke - Chapter: 15

>
15:1And all the tax-gatherers and the sinners were coming nigh to him, to hear him,
15:2and the Pharisees and the scribes were murmuring, saying -- This one doth receive sinners, and doth eat with them.'
15:3And he spake unto them this simile, saying,
15:4`What man of you having a hundred sheep, and having lost one out of them, doth not leave behind the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go on after the lost one, till he may find it?
15:5and having found, he doth lay `it' on his shoulders rejoicing,
15:6and having come to the house, he doth call together the friends and the neighbours, saying to them, Rejoice with me, because I found my sheep -- the lost one.
15:7`I say to you, that so joy shall be in the heaven over one sinner reforming, rather than over ninety-nine righteous men, who have no need of reformation.
15:8`Or what woman having ten drachms, if she may lose one drachm, doth not light a lamp, and sweep the house, and seek carefully till that she may find?
15:9and having found, she doth call together the female friends and the neighbours, saying, Rejoice with me, for I found the drachm that I lost.
15:10`So I say to you, joy doth come before the messengers of God over one sinner reforming.'
15:11And he said, `A certain man had two sons,
15:12and the younger of them said to the father, Father, give me the portion of the substance falling to `me', and he divided to them the living.
15:13`And not many days after, having gathered all together, the younger son went abroad to a far country, and there he scattered his substance, living riotously;
15:14and he having spent all, there came a mighty famine on that country, and himself began to be in want;
15:15and having gone on, he joined himself to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him to the fields to feed swine,
15:16and he was desirous to fill his belly from the husks that the swine were eating, and no one was giving to him.
15:17`And having come to himself, he said, How many hirelings of my father have a superabundance of bread, and I here with hunger am perishing!
15:18having risen, I will go on unto my father, and will say to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before thee,
15:19and no more am I worthy to be called thy son; make me as one of thy hirelings.
15:20`And having risen, he went unto his own father, and he being yet far distant, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and having ran he fell upon his neck and kissed him;
15:21and the son said to him, Father, I did sin -- to the heaven, and before thee, and no more am I worthy to be called thy son.
15:22`And the father said unto his servants, Bring forth the first robe, and clothe him, and give a ring for his hand, and sandals for the feet;
15:23and having brought the fatted calf, kill `it', and having eaten, we may be merry,
15:24because this my son was dead, and did live again, and he was lost, and was found; and they began to be merry.
15:25`And his elder son was in a field, and as, coming, he drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing,
15:26and having called near one of the young men, he was inquiring what these things might be,
15:27and he said to him -- Thy brother is arrived, and thy father did kill the fatted calf, because in health he did receive him back.
15:28`And he was angry, and would not go in, therefore his father, having come forth, was entreating him;
15:29and he answering said to the father, Lo, so many years I do serve thee, and never thy command did I transgress, and to me thou didst never give a kid, that with my friends I might make merry;
15:30but when thy son -- this one who did devour thy living with harlots -- came, thou didst kill to him the fatted calf.
15:31`And he said to him, Child, thou art always with me, and all my things are thine;
15:32but to be merry, and to be glad, it was needful, because this thy brother was dead, and did live again, he was lost, and was found.'

15:1Then resorted vnto him all ye publicas and synners for to heare him.
15:2And the pharises and scribes murmured sayinge: He receaved to his copany synners and eateth with them.
15:3Then put he forthe this similitude to the sayinge:
15:4What man of you havynge an hundred shepe yf he loose one of thee doth not leve nynty and nyne in the wyldernes and goo after yt which is loost vntyll he fynde him?
15:5And whe he hath founde him he putteth him on his shulders with ioye:
15:6And assone as he cometh home he calleth to gedder his lovers and neghbours sayinge vnto them: reioyse with me for I have founde my shepe which was loost.
15:7I say vnto you yt lyke wyse ioye shalbe in heven over one synner yt repenteth moore then over nynety and nyne iuste persons whiche nede noo repentauce.
15:8Ether what woman havynge .x. grotes yf she loose one doth not lyght a candell and swepe ye housse and seke diligently tyll she fynde it?
15:9And when she hath founde it she calleth her lovers and her neghbours sayinge: Reioyce wt me for I have founde the groate which I had loost.
15:10Lykwyse I saye vnto you ioye is made in ye presence of ye angels of god over one synner yt repenteth.
15:11And he sayde: a certayne man had two sonnes
15:12and the yonger of them sayde to his father: father geve me my parte of the goodes yt to me belongeth. And he devided vnto them his substaunce.
15:13And not longe after ye yonger sonne gaddered all that he had to gedder and toke his iorney into a farre countre and theare he wasted his goodes with royetous lyvinge.
15:14And when he had spent all that he had ther rose a greate derth thorow out all yt same londe and he began to lacke.
15:15And he went and clave to a citesyn of yt same countre which sent him to his felde to kepe his swyne.
15:16And he wold fayne have filled his bely with the coddes that ye swyne ate: and noo man gave him.
15:17Then he came to him selfe and sayde: how many hyred servauntes at my fathers have breed ynough and I dye for honger.
15:18I will aryse and goo to my father and will saye vnto him: father I have synned agaynst heven and before ye
15:19and am no moare worthy to be called thy sonne make me as one of thy hyred servauntes.
15:20And he arose and went to his father. And when he was yet a greate waye of his father sawe him and had compassion and ran and fell on his necke and kyssed him.
15:21And the sonne sayd vnto him: father I have synned agaynst heven and in thy sight and am no moare worthy to be called thy sonne.
15:22But his father sayde to his servautes: bringe forth that best garment and put it on him and put a rynge on his honde and showes on his fete.
15:23And bringe hidder that fatted caulfe and kyll him and let vs eate and be mery:
15:24for this my sonne was deed and is alyve agayne he was loste and is now founde. And they began to be merye.
15:25The elder brother was in the felde and when he cam and drewe nye to ye housse he herde minstrelcy and daunsynge
15:26and called one of his servauntes and axed what thoose thinges meate.
15:27And he sayd vnto him: thy brother is come and thy father had kylled ye fatted caulfe because he hath receaved him safe and sounde.
15:28And he was angry and wolde not goo in. Then came his father out and entreated him.
15:29He answered and sayde to his father: Loo these many yeares have I done the service nether brake at eny tyme thy commaundment and yet gavest thou me never soo moche as a kyd to make mery wt my lovers:
15:30but assone as this thy sonne was come which hath devoured thy goodes with harlootes thou haste for his pleasure kylled ye fatted caulfe.
15:31And he sayd vnto him: Sonne thou wast ever with me and all that I have is thyne:
15:32it was mete that we shuld make mery and be glad: for this thy brother was deed and is a lyve agayne: and was loste and is founde.

15:1There resorted vnto him all the publicans and synners, that they might heare him.
15:2And ye Pharises and scrybes murmured, and sayde: This man receaueth synners, and eateth with them.
15:3But he tolde the this symilitude, and sayde:
15:4What man is he amonge you, that hath an hundreth shepe, and yf he loose one of the, that leaueth not the nyne and nyentye in the wyldernesse, and goeth after that which is lost tyll he fynde it?
15:5And whan he hath founde it, he layeth it vpon his shulders with ioye:
15:6and whan he commeth home, he calleth his fredes and neghbours, and sayeth vnto the: Reioyce with me, for I haue founde my shepe, yt was lost.
15:7I saye vnto you: Eue so shal there be ioye in heauen ouer one synner that doth pennaunce, more then ouer nyne and nyentye righteous, which nede not repentaunce.
15:8Or what woman is it that hath ten grotes, yf she loose one of them, that lighteth not a candell, and swepeth the house, and seketh diligently, tyll she fynde it?
15:9And whan she hath founde it, she calleth hir frendes & neghbouresses, and sayeth: Reioyce with me, for I haue foude my grote, which I had lost.
15:10Euen so (I tell you) shal there be ioye before the angels of God, ouer one synner yt doth pennaunce.
15:11And he sayde: A certayne man had two sonnes,
15:12and the yonger of them sayde vnto the father: Father, geue me the porcion of ye goodes, that belongeth vnto me. And he deuyded the good vnto them.
15:13And not longe therafter, gathered the yonger sonne all together, & toke his iourney in to a farre countre, and there waisted he his goodes with ryotous lyuynge.
15:14Now whan he had spent all that he had, there was a greate derth thorow out all the same lode. And he begane to lacke,
15:15and wente his waye, and claue to a cytesin of that same countre, which sent him in to his felde, to kepe swyne.
15:16And he wolde fayne haue fylled his bely with the coddes, that the swyne ate. And no man gaue him them.
15:17Then came he to him self, and sayde: How many hyred seruauntes hath my father, which haue bred ynough, and I perish of honger?
15:18I wil get vp, and go to my father, and saye vnto him: Father, I haue synned agaynst heauen and before the,
15:19and am nomore worthy to be called thy sonne, make me as one of thy hyred seruauntes.
15:20And he gat him vp, & came vnto his father. But whan he was yet a greate waye of, his father sawe him, and had copassion, and ranne, and fell aboute his neck, and kyssed him.
15:21Then sayde the sonne vnto him: Father, I haue synned agaynst heaue, and before the, I am nomore worthy to be called thy sonne.
15:22But the father sayde vnto his seruauntes: Brynge forth the best garment, and put it vpon him, and geue him a rynge vpon his hande, and shues on his fete,
15:23and brynge hither a fed calfe, and kyll it, lat vs eate and be mery:
15:24for this my sonne was deed, and is alyue agayne: he was lost, and is founde. And they beganne to be mery.
15:25But the elder sonne was in the felde. And whan he came, and drewe nye to the house, he herde ye mynstrelsye and daunsynge,
15:26and called one of the seruauntes vnto him, and axed what it was.
15:27He sayde vnto him: Thy brother is come, and thy father hath slayne a fed calfe, because he hath receaued him safe and sounde.
15:28Then was he angrie, and wolde not go in. Then wente his father out, and prayed him.
15:29But he answered, and sayde vnto his father: Lo, thus many yeares haue I done the seruyce, nether haue I yet broken thy commaundement, and thou gauest me neuer one kydd, yt I might make mery with my frendes.
15:30But now that this thy sonne is come, which deuoured his goodes with harlottes, thou hast slayne a fed calfe.
15:31But he sayde vnto him: My sonne, thou art allwaye with me, and all that is myne, is thine:
15:32thou shuldest be mery and glad, for this yi brother was deed, and is alyue agayne: he was lost, and is founde agayne.
