Luke - Chapter: 16

>
16:1And he sayed also vnto his disciples. There was a certayne ryche man which had a steward that was accused vnto him: that he wasted hys goodes.
16:2And he called hym, and sayde vnto hym: Howe is it, that I heare thys of the? Geue a comptes of thy stewardshyppe. For thou mayest be no longer stewarde.
16:3The stewarde sayde within hym selfe, what shall I do? for my mayster wyll take away from me the stewardshyppe. I can not dygge, and to begge, I am ashamed.
16:4I wote what to do, that when I am put oute of stewardshyppe, they maye receyue me into theyr houses.
16:5Then called he all hys maysters detters, & sayed vnto the first, how much owest thou vnto my mayster?
16:6And he sayed: an hundred tonnes of oyle. And he sayed to hym: take thy bil and sit doune quicklye, and wryte fyftye.
16:7Then sayed he to another: what owest thou? And he sayed: an hundred quarters of wheate. He said to hym: Take thy byll, and write foure scoore.
16:8And the Lord commended the vniust steward because he had done wyslye. For the chyldren of thys worlde are in theyr kynde, wyser then the chyldren of lyght,
16:9And I saye also vnto you: make you frendes, of the wycked mammon, that when ye shall depart, they maye receyue you into euerlastynge habitacyons.
16:10He that is faythfull in that whiche is least, the same is faythfull in muche. And he that is vnfaythfull in the least, is vnfaythfull also in muche.
16:11So then yf ye haue not ben faythfull in the wycked Mammon: who wyll beleue you in that which is true?
16:12And yf ye haue not bene faythfull in another mannes busynes, who shall geue you your owne?
16:13No seruaunte can serue two maysters, for other he shal hate the one and loue the other, or els he shall leane to the one, and despyse the other. Ye can not serue God and Mammon.
16:14All these thynges hearde the phariseis also which were couetous, and they mocked hym.
16:15And he sayde vnto them: Ye are they whiche iustifye your selues before men: but God knoweth your hertes. For that which is highly estemed amonge men, is abhominable in the syght of God.
16:16The lawe and the Prophetes raygned vntyll the tyme of Iohn: and sence that tyme the kyngdom of God is preached, and euery man stryueth to go in.
16:17Soner shall heauen & earthe peryshe, then one title of the lawe shal perish.
16:18Whosoeuer forsaketh his wyfe and maryeth another, breaketh matrimony. And euery man which maryeth her that is deforsed from her husbande comitteth aduoutrye also.
16:19There was a certayne ryche man, whiche was clothed in purple and fyne bysse, & fared delyciously euery daye,
16:20And there was a certayne begger named Lazarus, whiche laye at hys gate full of sores,
16:21desierynge to be refresshed with the cromes which fell from the riche mans bourde. Neuerthelesse the dogges came and lycked hys sores.
16:22And it fortuned that the begger dyed, and was caryed by the Angels into Abrahams bosome. The ryche man also dyed and was buryed.
16:23And beynge in hell in tormentes, he lyfte vp hys eyes, and sawe Abraham a farre of, & Lazarus in his bosome,
16:24and he cryed & sayed: father Abraham haue mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he maye dyppe the typpe of his fynger in water, and cole my tonge, for I am tormented in this flamme.
16:25But Abraham sayd vnto hym. Sonne, remembre that thou in thy lyfe tyme, receyuedest thy pleasure, and contrarywyse Lazarus payne. Nowe therfore is he conforted, and thou arte punyshed.
16:26Beyonde all thys, betwene you and vs there is a great space set, so that they whiche would go from hence to you can not, neyther maye come from thence to vs.
16:27Then he sayed: I praye the therfore father, sende hym to my fathers house.
16:28For I haue fyue brethren, for to warne them lest they also come into thys place of tormente.
16:29Abraham said vnto hym: they haue Moyses and the Prophetes: let them heare them.
16:30And he sayd: nay father Abraham, but yf one came vnto them from the dead, they woulde repent.
16:31He sayed vnto hym: yf they heare not Moyses, and the Prophetes, neyther wyll they beleue, though one rose from death agayne.

16:1And he sayde also vnto his disciples. Ther was a certayn ryche man, whichhad a stewarde, and the same was accused vnto hym, that he had wasted hys goodes.
16:2And he called him, and sayde vnto him: How is it, that I heare thys of the? Geue acomptes of thy stewardshype: For thou mayste be no longer steward.
16:3The stewarde sayde with in him selfe: what shall I do? for my Master taketh awaye from me the stewardeshypp. I cannot dygge, and to begge I am ashamed.
16:4I wote what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they maye receaue me into their houses.
16:5So whan he had called all hys masters detters together, he sayde vnto the fyrst: how moch owest thou vnto my master?
16:6And he sayd: an hundred tonnes of oyle. And he sayde vnto him: take thy byll, & syt doune quyckly and wryte fyftye.
16:7Then sayd he to another: how moch owest thou? And he sayde: an hondred quarters of wheate. He sayde vnto him. Take thy byll, and wryte foure scoore.
16:8And the Lorde commended the vniust stewarde, because he had done wysly. For the chyldren of this worlde are in theyr nacion, wyser then the chyldren of lyght.
16:9And I saye vnto you: make you frendes of the vnryghteous mammon, that when ye shall haue nede they may receaue you into euerlastyng habitacyons.
16:10He that is faythfull in that which is least, is faythfull also in moch. And he that is vnryghteous in the least: is vnryghteous also in moch.
16:11So then, yf ye haue not ben faythfull in the vnryghteous mammon, who wyll beleue you in that which is true?
16:12And yf ye haue not bene faythfull in another mannes busynes, who shal geue you that which is your awne?
16:13No seruaunt can serue two masters: for ether he shall hate the one, and loue the other: or els he shall leane to the one, & despyse the other. Ye cannot serue God & mammon.
16:14All these thynges herde the Pharyses also, which were couetous, and they mocked him.
16:15And he sayd vnto them: Ye are they which iustifye youre selues before men: but God knoweth youre hertes. For that which is hyghlye estemed amonge men, is abhominable in the syght of God.
16:16The lawe and the Prophetes raygned vntyll Iohn: and sence that tyme, the kyngdome of God is preached, and euery man stryueth to go in.
16:17Easyer is it for heauen and erth to peryshe, then one tytle of the lawe to fayll.
16:18Whosoeuer forsaketh hys wyfe, and marieth another, committeth aduoutrye. And he which marieth her that is deuorsed from her husbande, committeth aduoutry also.
16:19Ther was a certayne ryche man, which was clothed in purple and fyne whyte, and fared deliciously euery dyae:
16:20And there was a certayne begger named Lazarus, which laye at his gate full of sores,
16:21desyrynge to be refresshed with the cromes, which fell from the ryche mannes borde. The dogges came also, and lycked his sores,
16:22And it fortuned, that the begger died, and was caryed by the angelles into Abrahams bosome. The riche man also dyed, and was buryed.
16:23And beynge in hell in tormentes, he lyfte vp hys eyes and sawe Abraham a farre of and Lazarus in hys bosome,
16:24and he cryed and sayde: father Abraham: haue mercy on me, and sende Lazarus, that he maye dyppe the typpe of hys fynger in water, and cole my tonge: for I am tormented in this flame.
16:25But Abraham sayde: Sonne remember that thou in thy lyfe tyme, receauedst thy pleasure, & contrary wyse, Lazarus receaued payne. But now is he conforted, and thou art punisshed.
16:26Beyonde all this, betwene vs and you ther is a greate space set, so that they which wolde go from hence to you, cannot: nether maye come from thence to vs.
16:27Then he sayd: I praye the therfore father, sende him to my fathers house.
16:28(For I haue fyue brethren) for to warne them, lest they also come into this place of tourment.
16:29Abraham sayde vnto him: they haue Moses and the Prophetes, let them heare them.
16:30And he sayde: naye father Abraham, but yf one come vnto them from the deed, they wyll repent.
16:31He sayde vnto him: If they heare not Moses and the Prophetes, nether wyll they beleue, though one rose from deeth agayne.

16:1And he sayde also vnto his disciples, There was a certaine riche man, which had a stewarde, and he was accused vnto him, that he wasted his goods.
16:2And hee called him, and saide vnto him, Howe is it that I heare this of thee? Giue an accounts of thy stewardship: for thou maiest be no longer steward.
16:3Then the stewarde saide within himselfe, What shall I doe? for my master taketh away from me the stewardship. I cannot digge, and to begge I am ashamed.
16:4I knowe what I will doe, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receiue mee into their houses.
16:5Then called he vnto him euery one of his masters detters, and said vnto the first, Howe much owest thou vnto my master?
16:6And he said, An hudreth measures of oyle. And he saide to him, Take thy writing, and sitte downe quickely, and write fiftie.
16:7Then said he to another, How much owest thou? And hee sayde, An hundreth measures of wheate. Then he saide to him, Take thy writing, and write foure score.
16:8And the Lord commended the vniust stewarde, because he had done wisely. Wherefore the children of this worlde are in their generation wiser then the children of light.
16:9And I say vnto you, Make you friends with the riches of iniquitie, that when ye shall want, they may receiue you into euerlasting habitations.
16:10He that is faithfull in the least, hee is also faithful in much: and he that is vniust in the least, is vniust also in much.
16:11If then ye haue not ben faithful in the wicked riches, who wil trust you in the true treasure?
16:12And if ye haue not bene faithfull in another mans goods, who shall giue you that which is yours?
16:13No seruaunt can serue two masters: for either he shall hate the one, and loue the other: or els he shall leane to the one, and despise the other. Yee can not serue God and riches.
16:14All these thinges heard the Pharises also which were couetous, and they scoffed at him.
16:15Then he sayde vnto them, Yee are they, which iustifie your selues before men: but God knoweth your heartes: for that which is highly esteemed among men, is abomination in the sight of God.
16:16The Lawe and the Prophets endured vntill Iohn: and since that time the kingdome of God is preached, and euery man preasseth into it.
16:17Nowe it is more easie that heauen and earth shoulde passe away, then that one title of the Lawe should fall.
16:18Whosoeuer putteth away his wife, and marieth another, committeth adulterie: and whosoeuer marieth her that is put away from her husband, committeth adulterie.
16:19There was a certaine riche man, which was clothed in purple and fine linnen, and fared well and delicately euery day.
16:20Also there was a certaine begger named Lazarus, which was laide at his gate full of sores,
16:21And desired to bee refreshed with the crommes that fell from the riche mans table: yea, and the dogges came and licked his sores.
16:22And it was so that the begger died, and was caried by the Angels into Abrahams bosome. The rich man also died, and was buried.
16:23And being in hell in torments, he lift vp his eyes, and sawe Abraham a farre off, and Lazarus in his bosome.
16:24Then he cried, and saide, Father Abraham, haue mercie on mee, and sende Lazarus that hee may dippe the tip of his finger in water, and coole my tongue: for I am tormented in this flame.
16:25But Abraham saide, Sonne, remember that thou in thy life time receiuedst thy pleasures, and likewise Lazarus paines: now therefore is he comforted, and thou art tormented.
16:26Besides all this, betweene you and vs there is a great gulfe set, so that they which would goe from hence to you, can not: neither can they come from thence to vs.
16:27Then he said, I pray thee therfore, father, that thou wouldest sende him to my fathers house,
16:28(For I haue fiue brethren) that he may testifie vnto them, least they also come into this place of torment.
16:29Abraham said vnto him, They haue Moses and the Prophets: let them heare them.
16:30And he sayde, Nay, father Abraham: but if one came vnto them from the dead, they will amend their liues.
16:31Then he saide vnto him, If they heare not Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rise from the dead againe.
