| 18:1 | Then He spoke a parable to them, concluding that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, |
| 18:2 | saying: "There was in a certain city a judge who did not reverence God nor regard man." |
| 18:3 | Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Avenge me from my adversary.'" |
| 18:4 | And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not reverence God nor regard man," |
| 18:5 | yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.'" |
| 18:6 | Then the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said." |
| 18:7 | And will God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?" |
| 18:8 | I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith on the earth?" |
| 18:9 | Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: |
| 18:10 | "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector." |
| 18:11 | The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector." |
| 18:12 | I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'" |
| 18:13 | And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!'" |
| 18:14 | I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; because, everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." |
| 18:15 | Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when His disciples saw it, they rebuked them. |
| 18:16 | But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them; because, of such is the kingdom of God." |
| 18:17 | Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." |
| 18:18 | Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" |
| 18:19 | So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God." |
| 18:20 | You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery,' 'Do not murder,' 'Do not steal,' 'Do not bear false witness,' 'Honor your father and your mother.'" |
| 18:21 | And he said, "All these things I have kept from my youth up." |
| 18:22 | So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." |
| 18:23 | But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, because he was very rich. |
| 18:24 | And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!" |
| 18:25 | Because, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." |
| 18:26 | And those who heard it said, "Who then can be saved?" |
| 18:27 | But He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." |
| 18:28 | Then Peter said, "See, we have left all and followed You." |
| 18:29 | So He said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brethren or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God," |
| 18:30 | who will not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come life everlasting." |
| 18:31 | Then He took the twelve to Himself and said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished." |
| 18:32 | Because, He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spat upon." |
| 18:33 | Then they will scourge Him and put Him to death. And the third day He will rise again." |
| 18:34 | But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken. |
| 18:35 | Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. |
| 18:36 | And hearing the crowd passing by, he asked what it meant. |
| 18:37 | So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. |
| 18:38 | And he shouted, saying, "Jesus, You Son of David, have mercy on me!" |
| 18:39 | Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he shouted all the more, "You Son of David, have mercy on me!" |
| 18:40 | So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him, |
| 18:41 | saying, "What do you want Me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, that I may receive my sight." |
| 18:42 | Then Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has saved you." |
| 18:43 | And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. |
| 18:1 | And he spake also a parable vnto them, to this ende, that they ought alwayes to pray, and not to waxe faint, |
| 18:2 | Saying, There was a iudge in a certaine citie, which feared not God, neither reuereced man. |
| 18:3 | And there was a widowe in that citie, which came vnto him, saying, Doe mee iustice against mine aduersarie. |
| 18:4 | And hee would not of a long time: but afterward he said with himselfe, Though I feare not God, nor reuerence man, |
| 18:5 | Yet because this widowe troubleth mee, I will doe her right, lest at the last shee come and make me wearie. |
| 18:6 | And the Lord said, Heare what the vnrighteous iudge saith. |
| 18:7 | Now shall not God auenge his elect, which cry day and night vnto him, yea, though he suffer long for them? |
| 18:8 | I tell you he will auenge them quickly: but when the Sonne of man commeth, shall he finde faith on the earth? |
| 18:9 | He spake also this parable vnto certaine which trusted in themselues that they were iust, and despised other. |
| 18:10 | Two men went vp into the Temple to pray: the one a Pharise, and the other a Publican. |
| 18:11 | The Pharise stoode and prayed thus with himselfe, O God, I thanke thee that I am not as other men, extortioners, vniust, adulterers, or euen as this Publican. |
| 18:12 | I fast twise in the weeke: I giue tithe of all that euer I possesse. |
| 18:13 | But the Publican standing a farre off, woulde not lift vp so much as his eyes to heauen, but smote his brest, saying, O God, be mercifull to me a sinner. |
| 18:14 | I tell you, this man departed to his house iustified, rather then the other: for euery man that exalteth himselfe, shall be brought lowe, and he that humbleth himselfe, shalbe exalted. |
| 18:15 | They brought vnto him also babes that he should touche them. And when his disciples sawe it, they rebuked them. |
| 18:16 | But Iesus called them vnto him, and said, Suffer the babes to come vnto mee, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdome of God. |
| 18:17 | Verely I say vnto you, whosoeuer receiueth not the kingdome of God as a babe, he shall not enter therein. |
| 18:18 | Then a certaine ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what ought I to doe, to inherite eternall life? |
| 18:19 | And Iesus said vnto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, saue one, euen God. |
| 18:20 | Thou knowest the comandements, Thou shalt not commit adulterie: Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not steale: Thou shalt not beare false witnes: Honour thy father and thy mother. |
| 18:21 | And hee saide, All these haue I kept from my youth. |
| 18:22 | Nowe when Iesus heard that, he saide vnto him, Yet lackest thou one thing. Sell all that euer thou hast, and distribute vnto the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come follow mee. |
| 18:23 | But when he heard those things, he was very heauie: for he was marueilous riche. |
| 18:24 | And when Iesus sawe him very sorowfull, he said, With what difficultie shall they that haue riches, enter into the kingdome of God! |
| 18:25 | Surely it is easier for a camel to go through a needles eye, then for a riche man to enter into the kingdome of God. |
| 18:26 | Then said they that heard it, And who then can be saued? |
| 18:27 | And he said, The things which are vnpossible with men, are possible with God. |
| 18:28 | Then Peter said, Loe, we haue left all, and haue followed thee. |
| 18:29 | And he said vnto them, Verely I say vnto you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children for the kingdome of Gods sake, |
| 18:30 | Which shall not receiue much more in this world, and in the world to come life euerlasting. |
| 18:31 | Then Iesus tooke vnto him ye twelue, and said vnto them, Beholde, we goe vp to Hierusalem, and all things shalbe fulfilled to the Sonne of man, that are writttn by the Prophets. |
| 18:32 | For he shall be deliuered vnto the Gentiles, and shalbe mocked, and shalbe spitefully entreated, and shalbe spitted on. |
| 18:33 | And when they haue scourged him, they will put him to death: but the thirde day hee shall rise againe. |
| 18:34 | But they vnderstood none of these things, and this saying was hidde from them, neither perceiued they the things, which were spoken. |
| 18:35 | And it came to passe, that as he was come neere vnto Iericho, a certaine blinde man sate by the way side, begging. |
| 18:36 | And when he heard the people passe by, he asked what it meant. |
| 18:37 | And they saide vnto him, that Iesus of Nazareth passed by. |
| 18:38 | Then hee cried, saying, Iesus the Sonne of Dauid, haue mercie on me. |
| 18:39 | And they which went before, rebuked him that he shoulde holde his peace, but he cried much more, O Sone of Dauid, haue mercie on me. |
| 18:40 | And Iesus stoode stil, and commanded him to be brought vnto him. And when he was come neere, he asked him, |
| 18:41 | Saying, What wilt thou that I doe vnto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receiue my sight. |
| 18:42 | And Iesus said vnto him, Receiue thy sight: thy faith hath saued thee. |
| 18:43 | Then immediatly he receiued his sight, and followed him, praysing God: and all the people, when they sawe this, gaue praise to God. |
| 18:1 | And he put forth a similitude vnto the signifyinge that men ought alwayes to praye and not to be wery |
| 18:2 | sayinge: Ther was a Iudge in a certayne cite which feared not god nether regarded man. |
| 18:3 | And ther was a certayne wedowe in the same cite which came vnto him sayinge: avenge me of myne adversary. |
| 18:4 | And he wolde not for a whyle. But afterwarde he sayd vnto him selfe: though I feare not God nor care for man |
| 18:5 | yet because this wedowe troubleth me I will avenge her lest at the laste she come and hagge on me. |
| 18:6 | And the lorde sayd: heare what the vnrightewes Iudge sayeth. |
| 18:7 | And shall not god avenge his electe which crye daye and nyght vnto him ye though he differre them? |
| 18:8 | I tell you he will avenge them and that quickly. Neverthelesse when the sonne of man cometh suppose ye that he shall fynde faithe on the erthe. |
| 18:9 | And he put forthe this similitude vnto certayne which trusted in the selves yt they were perfecte and despysed other. |
| 18:10 | Two men went vp into ye teple to praye: ye one a pharise and the other a publican. |
| 18:11 | The pharise stode and prayed thus wt him selfe. God I thanke the yt I am not as other men are extorsioners vniuste advoutrers or as this publican. |
| 18:12 | I fast twyse in ye weke. I geve tythe of all that I possesse. |
| 18:13 | And the publican stode afarre of and wolde not lyfte vp his eyes to heven but smote his brest sayinge: God be mercyfull to me a synner. |
| 18:14 | I tell you: this ma departed hoe to his housse iustified moore then the other. For every man that exalteth him selfe shalbe brought low: And he yt hubleth him selfe shalbe exalted |
| 18:15 | They brought vnto him also babes yt he shuld touche the. When his disciples sawe that they rebuked the. |
| 18:16 | But Iesus called the vnto him and sayde: Suffre chyldren to come vnto me and forbidde the not. For of soche is ye kyngdome of God. |
| 18:17 | Verely I saye vnto you: whosoever receaveth not the kyngdome of God as a chylde: he shall not enter therin. |
| 18:18 | And a certayne ruler axed him sayinge: Good Master: what ought I to do to obtayne eternall lyfe? |
| 18:19 | Iesus sayd vnto him: Why callest thou me good? No man is good save God only. |
| 18:20 | Thou knowest ye comaundmentes: Thou shalt not commit advoutry: thou shalt not kyll: thou shalt not steale: thou shalt not beare false witnes: Honoure thy father and thy mother. |
| 18:21 | And he sayde: all these have I kept from my youthe. |
| 18:22 | When Iesus hearde that he sayde vnto him: Yet lackest thou one thinge. Sell all that thou hast and distribute it vnto the poore and thou shalt have treasure in heven and come and folowe me. |
| 18:23 | When he heard that he was hevy: for he was very ryche. |
| 18:24 | When Iesus sawe him morne he sayde: with what difficulte shall they that have ryches enter into the kyngdome of God: |
| 18:25 | it is easyer for a camell to goo thorow a nedles eye then for a ryche man to enter into the kyngdome of God. |
| 18:26 | Then sayde they that hearde that: And who shall then be saved? |
| 18:27 | And he sayde: Thinges which are vnpossible with men are possible with God. |
| 18:28 | Then Peter sayde: Loo we have lefte all and have folowed the. |
| 18:29 | And he sayde vnto them: Verely I saye vnto you ther is noo man that leaveth housse other father and mother other brethren or wyfe or chyldren for the kyngdome of Goddes sake |
| 18:30 | which same shall not receave moche moore in this worlde: and in the worlde to come lyfe everlastinge. |
| 18:31 | He toke vnto him twelve and sayde vnto them. Beholde we go vp to Ierusalem and all shalbe fulfilled that are written by ye Prophetes of the sonne of man. |
| 18:32 | He shalbe delivered vnto the gentils and shalbe mocked and shalbe despytfully entreated and shalbe spetted on: |
| 18:33 | and when they have scourged him they will put him to deeth and the thyrde daye he shall aryse agayne. |
| 18:34 | But they vnderstode none of these thinges. And this sayinge was hid fro them. And they perceaved not the thinges which were spoken. |
| 18:35 | And it came to passe as he was come nye vnto Hierico a certayne blynde man sate by the waye syde begginge. |
| 18:36 | And when he hearde the people passe by he axed what it meant. |
| 18:37 | And they sayde vnto him yt Iesus of Nazareth passed by. |
| 18:38 | And he cryed sayinge: Iesus ye sonne of David have thou mercy on me. |
| 18:39 | And they which went before rebuked him that he shuld holde his peace. But he cryed so moche the moare thou sonne of David have mercy on me. |
| 18:40 | And Iesus stode styll and commaunded him to be brought vnto him. And when he was come neare he axed him |
| 18:41 | sayinge: What wilt thou that I do vnto the? And he sayde: Lorde yt I maye receave my sight. |
| 18:42 | Iesus sayde vnto him: receave thy sight: thy faith hath saved the. |
| 18:43 | And immediatly he sawe and folowed him praysinge God. And all the people when they sawe it gave laude to God. |
