John - Chapter: 7

>
7:1After these things, Iesus walked in Galilee: for hee would not walk in Iurie, because the Iewes sought to kill him.
7:2Now the Iewes feast of Tabernacles was at hand.
7:3His brethren therefore saide vnto him, Depart hence, and go into Iudea, that thy Disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
7:4For there is no man that doth any thing in secret, and hee himselfe seeketh to be knowen openly: If thou doe these things, shew thy selfe to ye world.
7:5For neither did his brethren beleeue in him.
7:6Then Iesus said vnto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.
7:7The world cannot hate you, but me it hateth, because I testifie of it, that the workes thereof are euill.
7:8Goe ye vp vnto this feast: I goe not vp yet vnto this feast, for my time is not yet full come.
7:9When he had said these words vnto them, he abode still in Galilee.
7:10But when his brethren were gone vp, then went he also vp vnto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.
7:11Then the Iewes sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
7:12And there was much murmuring among the people, concerning him: For some said, Hee is a good man: Others said, Nay, but he deceiueth the people.
7:13Howbeit, no man spake openly of him, for feare of the Iewes.
7:14Now about the middest of the feast, Iesus went vp into the Temple, and taught.
7:15And the Iewes marueiled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, hauing neuer learned?
7:16Iesus answered them, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
7:17If any man will doe his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speake of my selfe.
7:18He that speaketh of himselfe, seeketh his owne glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no vnrighteousnesse is in him.
7:19Did not Moses giue you the Law, and yet none of you keepeth the Law? Why goe ye about to kill me?
7:20The people answered, and sayd, Thou hast a deuill: Who goeth about to kill thee?
7:21Iesus answered, and saide vnto them, I haue done one worke, and yee all marueile.
7:22Moses therefore gaue vnto you Circumcision (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers) and yee on the Sabbath day circumcise a man.
7:23If a man on the Sabbath day receiue circumcision, that the Lawe of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I haue made a man euery whit whole on the Sabbath day?
7:24Iudge not according to the appearance, but iudge righteous iudgement.
7:25Then said some of them of Hierusalem, Is not this hee, whome they seeke to kill?
7:26But loe, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing vnto him: Doe the rulers know indeede that this is the very Christ?
7:27Howbeit wee know this man whence he is: but when Christ commeth, no man knoweth whence he is.
7:28Then cried Iesus in the Temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am, and I am not come of my selfe, but he that sent me, is true, whom ye know not.
7:29But I know him, for I am from him, and he hath sent me.
7:30Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his houre was not yet come.
7:31And many of the people beleeued on him, & said, When Christ commeth, will hee doe moe miracles then these which this man hath done?
7:32The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him: And the Pharisees and the chiefe Priests sent officers to take him.
7:33Then said Iesus vnto them, Yet a litle while am I with you, and then I goe vnto him that sent me.
7:34Ye shall seeke me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither yee cannot come.
7:35Then saide the Iewes among themselues, Whither will hee goe, that we shall not find him? will he goe vnto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
7:36What maner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seeke me, and shall not find me? and where I am, thither ye cannot come?
7:37In the last day, that great day of the feast, Iesus stood, and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come vnto me, and drinke.
7:38He that beleeueth on me, as the Scripture hath saide, out of his belly shall flow riuers of liuing water.
7:39(But this spake he of the Spirit which they that beleeue on him, should receiue. For the holy Ghost was not yet giuen, because that Iesus was not yet glorified.)
7:40Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, saide, Of a trueth this is the Prophet.
7:41Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
7:42Hath not the Scripture saide, that Christ commeth of the seede of Dauid, and out of the towne of Bethlehem, where Dauid was?
7:43So there was diuision among the people because of him.
7:44And some of them would haue taken him, but no man layed hands on him.
7:45Then came the officers to the chiefe Priests and Pharises, and they said vnto them, Why haue ye not brought him?
7:46The officers answered, Neuer man spake like this man.
7:47Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceiued?
7:48Haue any of the rulers, or of the Pharises beleeued on him?
7:49But this people who knoweth not the Law, are cursed.
7:50Nicodemus saith vnto them, (He that came to Iesus by night, being one of them,)
7:51Doth our Law iudge any man before it heare him, & know what he doth?
7:52They answered, and said vnto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and looke: for out of Galilee ariseth no Prophet.
7:53And euery man went vnto his owne house.

7:1After that wente Iesus aboute in Galile, for he wolde not go aboute in Iewry, because the Iewes sought to kyll him.
7:2But the Iewes feast of Tabernacles was at hande.
7:3Then sayde his brethren vnto him: Get the hece, and go into Iewry, that thy disciples also maye se thy workes, that thou doest.
7:4He that seketh to be openly knowne, doth nothinge in secrete. Yf thou do soch thinges, the shewe yi self before the worlde:
7:5For his awne brethren also beleued not in him.
7:6Then sayde Iesus vnto them: My tyme is not yet come, but youre tyme is allwaye ready.
7:7The worlde can not hate you, but me it hateth: because I testifye of it, that the workes of it are euell.
7:8Go ye vp vnto this feast, I wyll not go vp yet vnto this feast, for my tyme is not yet fulfylled.
7:9Whan he sayde this vnto them, he abode styll in Galile.
7:10But as soone as his brethren were gone vp, then wente he vp also vnto the feast, not openly, but as it were secretly.
7:11Then sought him ye Iewes at ye feast, and sayde: Where is he?
7:12And there was a greate murmur of him amonge the people. Some sayde: He is good. But other sayde: No, he doth but disceaue the people.
7:13Howbeit no man spake frely of him, for feare of the Iewes.
7:14But in the myddes of the feast wete Iesus vp in to the temple, and taught.
7:15And the Iewes marueyled and sayde: How can he ye scrypture, seynge he hath not lerned it?
7:16Iesus answered them, and sayde: My doctryne is not myne, but his that hath sent me.
7:17Yf eny man wyl do his will, he shal knowe, whether this doctryne be of God, or whether I speake of my self.
7:18He that speaketh of himself, seketh his awne prayse: but he that seketh the prayse of him that sent him, the same is true, & there is no vnrighteousnes in him.
7:19Hath not Moses geuen you the lawe? and none of you kepeth the lawe? Why go ye aboute to kyll me?
7:20The people answered, and sayde: Thou hast the deuell, who goeth aboute to kyll the?
7:21Iesus answered and sayde: One worke haue I done, and ye all maruayle.
7:22Moses gaue you the circumcision, (not because it commeth of Moses, but of ye fathers:) Yet do ye circumcyse a man vpon the Sabbath.
7:23Yf a man receaue circucision vpon the Sabbath, that the lawe of Moses shulde not be broken, dissdayne ye then at me, because I haue made a ma euery whyt whole on the Sabbath?
7:24Iudge not after the vtter appearauce, but iudge righteous iudgment.
7:25Then sayde some of them of Ierusalem: Is not this he, who they go aboute to kyll?
7:26And beholde, he speaketh boldely, and they saye nothinge to him. Do oure rulers knowe in dede, that he is very Christ?
7:27Howbeyt we knowe, whence this is. But wha Christ commeth, no man shal knowe whence he is.
7:28Then cryed Iesus in the temple as he taught, and sayde: Yee ye knowe me, and whence I am ye knowe, and of my self am I not come, but he yt sent me, is true, whom ye knowe not.
7:29But I knowe him, for I am of him, and he hath sent me.
7:30Then sought they to take him, but no mam layed handes vpon him, for his houre was not yet come.
7:31But many of the people beleued on him, and sayde: Whan Christ commeth, shall he do mo tokens, then this doth?
7:32And it came to the Pharises eares, that ye people murmured soch thinges of him. And the Pharises and hye prestes sent out seruauntes, to take him.
7:33Then sayde Iesus vnto them: I am yet a litle whyle with you and then go I vnto him that hath sent me.
7:34Ye shal seke me, & not fynde me: and where I am, thither can ye not come.
7:35Then sayde the Iewes amonge them selues: Whyther wil he go, that we shal not fynde him? Wyl he go amoge the Grekes that are scatred abrode, and teach the Grekes?
7:36What maner of sayenge is this, that he sayeth: ye shal seke me, and not fynde me: and where I am, thither can not ye come?
7:37But in the last daye which was ye most solempne daye of the feast, Iesus stode vp, cried, and sayde: Who so thyrsteth, let him come vnto me, and drynke.
7:38He that beleueth on me, as the scripture sayeth, out of his body shal flowe ryuers of the water of life.
7:39(But this spake he of the sprete, which they that beleue on him, shulde receaue. For the holy goost was not yet there, because Iesus was not yet glorifyed.)
7:40Many of the people now whan they herde this sayenge, sayde: This is a very prophet.
7:41Other sayde: He is Christ. But some sayde: Shal Christ come out of Galile?
7:42Sayeth not the scripture, that Christ shal come of the sede of Dauid, and out of the towne of Bethleem, where Dauid was?
7:43Thus was there discencion amonge the people for his sake.
7:44Some of them wolde haue taken him, but no man layed handes on him.
7:45The seruauntes came to the hye prestes and pharises, and they sayde vnto them: Why haue ye not brought him?
7:46The seruauntes answered: Neuer ma spake as this man doth.
7:47Then answered them the pharises: Are ye also disceaued?
7:48Doth eny of the rulers or pharises beleue on him?
7:49But the comon people which knowe not the lawe, are cursed.
7:50Nicodemus sayde vnto them, he that came to him by night, which was one of them:
7:51Doth oure lawe iudge eny man, before it heare him, and knowe what he hath done?
7:52They answered and sayde vnto him? Art thou a Galilean also? Searche and loke, out of Galile aryseth no prophet.
7:53And so euery man wente home.

7:1And he seide this of Judas of Symount Scarioth, for this was to bitraye hym, whanne he was oon of the twelue.
7:2Aftir these thingis Jhesus walkide in to Galilee, for he wolde not walke in to Judee, for the Jewis souyten to sle hym.
7:3And ther was neiy a feeste dai of the Jewis, Senofegia.
7:4And hise britheren seiden to hym, Passe fro hennus, and go in to Judee, that also thi disciplis seen thi werkis that thou doist;
7:5for no man doith ony thing in hiddlis, and hym silf sekith to be opyn. If thou doist these thingis, schewe thi silf to the world.
7:6For nether hise britheren bileueden in hym.
7:7Therfor Jhesus seith to hem, My tyme cam not yit, but youre tyme is euermore redi.
7:8The world may not hate you, sothely it hatith me; for Y bere witnessyng therof, that the werkis of it ben yuele.
7:9Go ye vp to this feeste dai, but Y schal not go vp to this feeste dai, for my tyme is not yit fulfillid.
7:10Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he dwelte in Galilee.
7:11And aftir that hise britheren weren gon vp, thanne he yede vp to the feeste dai, not opynli, but as in priuyte.
7:12Therfor the Jewis souyten hym in the feeste dai, and seiden, Where is he?
7:13And myche grutchyng was of hym among the puple. For summe seiden, That he is good; and othere seiden, Nai, but he disceyueth the puple;
7:14netheles no man spak opynli of hym, for drede of the Jewis.
7:15But whanne the myddil feeste dai cam, Jhesus wente vp in to the temple, and tauyte.
7:16And the Jewis wondriden, and seiden, Hou can this man lettris, sithen he hath not lerned?
7:17Jhesus answerde to hem, and seide, My doctryne is not myn, but his that sente me.
7:18If ony man wole do his wille, he schal knowe of the techyng, whethir it be of God, or Y speke of my silf.
7:19He that spekith of hym silf, sekith his owne glorie; but he that sekith the glorie of hym that sente hym, is sothefast, and vnriytwisnesse is not in hym.
7:20Whether Moises yaf not to you a lawe, and noon of you doith the lawe?
7:21What seken ye to sle me? And the puple answerde, and seide, Thou hast a deuel; who sekith to sle thee?
7:22Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Y haue don o werk, and alle ye wondren.
7:23Therfor Moises yaf to you circumcisioun; not for it is of Moyses, but of the fadris; and in the sabat ye circumciden a man.
7:24If a man take circumcicioun in the sabat, that the lawe of Moises be not brokun, han ye indignacioun to me, for Y made al a man hool in the sabat?
7:25Nile ye deme aftir the face, but deme ye a riytful doom.
7:26Therfor summe of Jerusalem seiden, Whethir this is not he, whom the Jewis seken to sle?
7:27and lo! he spekith opynli, and thei seien no thing to hym. Whether the princes knewen verili, that this is Crist?
7:28But we knowun this man, of whennus he is; but whanne Crist schal come, no man woot of whennus he is.
7:29Therfor Jhesus criede in the temple `techynge, and seide, Ye knowen me, and `ye knowen of whennus Y am; and Y cam not of my silf, but he is trewe that sente me, whom ye knowen not.
7:30Y knowe hym, and if Y seie that Y knowe hym not, Y schal be lijk to you, a liere; but Y knowe hym, for of hym Y am, and he sente me.
7:31Therfor thei souyten to take hym, and no man sette on hym hoondis, for his our cam not yit.
7:32And many of the puple bileueden in hym, and seiden, Whanne Crist schal come, whether he schal do mo tokenes, than tho that this doith?
7:33Farisees herden the puple musinge of hym these thingis; and the princis and Farisees senten mynystris, to take hym.
7:34Therfor Jhesus seide to hem, Yit a litil tyme Y am with you, and Y go to the fadir, that sente me.
7:35Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye may not come.
7:36Therfor the Jewis seiden to hem silf, Whidur schal this gon, for we schulen not fynde hym? whether he wole go in to the scateryng of hethene men, and wole teche the hethene?
7:37What is this word, which he seide, Ye schulen seke me, and ye schulen not fynde; and where Y am, ye moun not come?
7:38But in the laste dai of the greet feeste, Jhesus stood, and criede, and seide, If ony man thirstith, come he to me, and drynke.
7:39He that bileueth in me, as the scripture seith, Floodis of quyk watir schulen flowe fro his wombe.
7:40But he seide this thing of the Spirit, whom men that bileueden in hym schulden take; for the Spirit was not yit youun, for Jhesus was not yit glorified.
7:41Therfor of that cumpanye, whanne thei hadden herd these wordis of hym, thei seiden, This is verili a prophete.
7:42Othere seiden, This is Crist. `But summe seiden, Whether Crist cometh fro Galilee?
7:43Whether the scripture seith not, that of the seed of Dauid, and of the castel of Bethleem, where Dauid was, Crist cometh?
7:44Therfor discencioun was maad among the puple for hym.
7:45For summe of hem wolden haue take hym, but no man sette hondis on hym.
7:46Therfor the mynystris camen to bischopis and Farisees, and thei seiden to hem, Whi brouyten ye not hym?
7:47The mynystris answeriden, Neuere man spak so, as this man spekith.
7:48Therfor the Farisees answeriden to hem, Whether ye ben disseyued also?
7:49whether ony of the pryncis or of the Farisees bileueden in hym?
7:50But this puple, that knowith not the lawe, ben cursid.
7:51Nychodeme seith to hem, he that cam to hym bi nyyt, that was oon of hem, Whethir oure lawe demith a man,
7:52but it haue first herde of hym, and knowe what he doith?
7:53Thei answeriden, and seiden to hym, Whether thou art a man of Galilee also? Seke thou scripturis, and se thou, that a prophete risith not of Galilee.
