John - Chapter: 8

>
8:1And Iesus wente vnto mounte Oliuete,
8:2and earlye in the mornynge came agayne into the temple, and all the people came vnto him, and sate doune & taught them.
8:3And the Scribes and Phariseis brought vnto hym a woman taken in aduoutrye, and set her in the middest,
8:4and sayed vnto hym: Mayster, thys woman was taken in aduoutrye, euen as the dede was a doynge.
8:5Moyses in the lawe commaunded vs that suche shoulde be stoned. What sayest thou therfore?
8:6And this they sayed to tempte hym, that they myghte haue, whereof to accuse hym. Iesus stouped doune, and with hys fynger wrote on the ground.
8:7And whyle they continued axynge hym, he lyfte hym selfe vp, and sayd vnto them: let hym that is amonge you without synne caste the fyrst stone at her.
8:8And agayne he stouped doune, and wrote on the grounde.
8:9And assone as they hearde that, they went out one by one, the eldest fyrst. And Iesu was left alone, and the woman standynge in the myddes.
8:10When Iesus had lyft vp hym self agayn and sawe no man but the woman, he sayd to her. Woman where are those thyne accusers? Hath no man condemned the?
8:11She sayed no man Lorde. And Iesus sayde: Neyther do I condempne the. Go, and synne no more.
8:12Then spake Iesus agayne vnto them, saiynge. I am the lyghte of the worlde. He that foloweth me, shall not walke in darkenes: but shall haue the lyghte of lyfe.
8:13The Phariseis sayde vnto hym: thou bearest recorde of thy selfe thy recorde is not true.
8:14Iesus aunswered and sayed vnto them: though I beare recorde of my selfe, yet my recorde is true: for I know whence I came, and whether I go. But ye can not tel, whence I came, and whither I go.
8:15Ye iudge after the flesh. I iudge no man.
8:16Thoughe I iudge, yet is my iudgement true. For I am not alone: but I and the father that sent me.
8:17It is also written in your lawe, that the testimony of two men is true.
8:18I am one that beare witnes of my selfe, and the father that sent me beareth witnes of me.
8:19Then sayde they vnto hym: where is thy father? Iesus aunswered: ye neyther knowe me nor yet my father. Yf ye had knowen me, ye shoulde haue knowen my father also.
8:20These wordes spake Iesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple, and no man layde handes on hym, for hys tyme was not yet come.
8:21Then sayde Iesus agayne vnto them. I go my waye, and ye shall seke me, & shall dye in youre synnes. Whether I go, thither can ye not come.
8:22Then sayde the Iewes: will he kyll hym selfe, because he sayth: whether I go thyther can ye not come?
8:23And he sayde to them: ye are from beneth. I am from aboue. Ye are of thys worlde. I am not of thys worlde.
8:24I sayd therfore vnto you, that ye shall dye in your synnes. For except ye beleue that I am he, ye shall dye in youre synnes.
8:25Then sayed they vnto hym, who arte thou? And Iesus sayde vnto them: Euen the very same thynge that I saye vnto you,
8:26I haue manye thynges to saye, and to iudge of you: but he that sent me is true. And I speake in the worlde, those thinges which I haue hearde of hym.
8:27Howe be it, they vnderstode not that he spake of hys father.
8:28Then sayde Iesus vnto them: when ye haue lyfte vp an hye the sonne of man, then shall ye knowe, that I am he, and that I do nothynge of my self: but as my father hath taught me, euen so I speake:
8:29and he that sente me, is with me. The father hath not left me alone, for I do alwayes those thynges, that please him.
8:30As he spake these wordes, many beleued on hym. Then sayde Iesus to those Iewes whiche beleued on hym.
8:31Yf ye continue in my wordes: then are ye my very discyples,
8:32and shal know the truth, and the truthe shall make you free.
8:33They aunswered hym. We be Abrahams seede, and were neuer bonde to any man: why sayest thou then: ye shalbe made, fre?
8:34Iesus aunswered them: verelye, verelye I say vnto you, that whosoeuer committeth synne
8:35is the seruaunte of synne. And the seruaunte abydeth not in the house for euer.
8:36But the sonne abydeth euer. Yf the sonne therfore shal make you fre, then are ye free in dede.
8:37I knowe that ye are Abrahams sede, but ye seke meanes to kyl me, because my sayinges haue no place in you.
8:38I speake that I haue sene with my father: and ye do that which ye haue sene with youre father.
8:39They aunswered, & sayde vnto hym. Abraham is oure father. Iesus sayde vnto them: yf ye were Abrahams chyldren, ye woulde do the dedes of Abraham.
8:40But nowe ye go about to kyll me, a man that haue tolde you the truthe whiche I haue hearde of God, thys dyd not Abraham,
8:41ye do the dedes of your father. Then sayde they to him: we were not borne of fornicion. We haue one father, whiche is God.
8:42Iesus sayde vnto them: yf God were youre father, then woulde ye loue me. For I proceaded forth, and come from God. Neyther came I of my selfe, but he sente me.
8:43Why do ye not knowe my speache? Euen because ye cannot abyde the hearynge of my wordes.
8:44Ye are of youre father the deuyl, and the lustes of your father ye wyll do. He was a murtherer from the begynnyng, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truthe in hym. When he speaketh a lye, then speaketh he of hys owne. For he is a lyar, and the father therof.
8:45And because I tell you the truthe, therfore ye beleue me not.
8:46Which of you can rebuke me of synne? Yf I saye the truth, why do not ye beleue me?
8:47He that is of God, heareth Goddes wordes. Ye therfor heare them not, because ye, are not of God.
8:48Then answered the Iewes, and sayd vnto hym: Saye we not well that thou arte a Samaritane, and hast the deuyll?
8:49Iesus aunswered: I haue not the deuyll: but I honoure my father, & ye haue dishonoured me.
8:50I seke not myne owne prayse: but there is one that seketh, and iudgeth.
8:51Verely verely I saye vnto you, yf a man kepe my saiynges, he shall neuer she death.
8:52Then sayed the Iewes to hym. Nowe knowe we that thou haste the deuyll. Abraham is dead, and also the Prophetes, and yet thou sayest, yf a man kepe my saiynges he shall neuer tast of death.
8:53Art thou greater then oure father Abraham which is dead? And the Prophetes are dead: Whome makest thou thy selfe?
8:54Iesus answered. Yf I honoure my selfe, myne honoure is nothynge worthe. It is my father, that honoureth me, which you saye is youre God,
8:55and ye haue not knowen hym: but I knowe hym, And yf I shoulde saye: I knowe hym not, I shoulde be a lyer lyke vnto you. But I knowe hym, and kepe hys saiynge.
8:56Your father Abraham was glad to se my daye and he sawe it, and reioyced.
8:57Then sayed the Iewes vnto hym: thou arte not yet .l. yeares olde, and hast thou sene Abraham?
8:58Iesus said vnto them: Verelye verely I saye vnto you: yer Abraham was I am.
8:59Then toke they vp stones to caste at hym. But Iesus hyd him self and wente oute of the temple.

8:1And Iesus went vnto the mount of Oliues,
8:2And early in the morning came againe into the Temple, and all the people came vnto him, and he sate downe, and taught them.
8:3Then the Scribes, and the Pharises brought vnto him a woman, taken in adulterie, and set her in the middes,
8:4And said vnto him, Master, we foud this woman committing adulterie, euen in the very acte.
8:5Now Moses in our Law commanded, that such should be stoned: what sayest thou therefore?
8:6And this they saide to tempt him, that they might haue, whereof to accuse him. But Iesus stouped downe, and with his finger wrote on the groud.
8:7And while they continued asking him, hee lift himselfe vp, and sayde vnto them, Let him that is among you without sinne, cast the first stone at her.
8:8And againe hee stouped downe, and wrote on the ground.
8:9And when they heard it, being accused by their owne conscience, they went out one by one, beginning at ye eldest euen to the last: so Iesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the mids.
8:10When Iesus had lift vp himselfe againe, and sawe no man, but the woman, hee saide vnto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
8:11She said, No man, Lord. And Iesus said, Neither do I condemne thee: go and sinne no more.
8:12Then spake Iesus againe vnto them, saying, I am that light of the worlde: hee that followeth mee, shall not walke in darkenes, but shall haue that light of life.
8:13The Pharises therefore saide vnto him, Thou bearest recorde of thy selfe: thy recorde is not true.
8:14Iesus answered, and sayde vnto them, Though I beare recorde of my selfe, yet my recorde is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I goe.
8:15Ye iudge after the flesh: I iudge no man.
8:16And if I also iudge, my iudgement is true: for I am not alone, but I, and the Father, that sent mee.
8:17And it is also written in your Lawe, that the testimonie of two men is true.
8:18I am one that beare witnes of my selfe, and the Father that sent me, beareth witnes of me.
8:19Then saide they vnto him, Where is that Father of thine? Iesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor that Father of mine. If ye had knowen me, ye should haue knowen that Father of mine also.
8:20These wordes spake Iesus in the treasurie, as hee taught in the Temple, and no man layde handes on him: for his houre was not yet come.
8:21Then saide Iesus againe vnto them, I goe my way, and ye shall seeke me, and shall die in your sinnes, Whither I goe, can ye not come.
8:22Then said the Iewes, Will he kill himselfe, because he saith, Whither I goe, can ye not come?
8:23And hee saide vnto them, Ye are from beneath, I am from aboue: ye are of this world, I am not of this worlde.
8:24I said therefore vnto you, That ye shall die in your sinnes: for except ye beleeue, that I am he, ye shall die in your sinnes.
8:25Then saide they vnto him, Who art thou? And Iesus saide vnto them, Euen the same thing that I said vnto you from the beginning.
8:26I haue many things to say, and to iudge of you: but he that sent me, is true, and the things that I haue heard of him, those speake I to the world.
8:27They vnderstoode not that hee spake to them of the Father.
8:28Then said Iesus vnto them, When ye haue lift vp the Sonne of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I doe nothing of my selfe, but as my Father hath taught me, so I speake these things.
8:29For he that sent me, is with me: the Father hath not left me alone, because I do alwayes those things that please him.
8:30As hee spake these thinges, many beleeued in him.
8:31Then saide Iesus to the Iewes which beleeued in him, If ye continue in my worde, ye are verely my disciples,
8:32And shall know the trueth, and the trueth shall make you free.
8:33They answered him, Wee be Abrahams seede, and were neuer bonde to any man: why sayest thou then, Ye shalbe made free?
8:34Iesus answered them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, that whosoeuer committeth sinne, is the seruant of sinne.
8:35And the seruant abideth not in the house for euer: but the Sonne abideth for euer.
8:36If that Sonne therefore shall make you free, ye shalbe free in deede.
8:37I know that ye are Abrahams seede, but yee seeke to kill mee, because my worde hath no place in you.
8:38I speake that which I haue seene with my Father: and ye doe that which ye haue seene with your father.
8:39They answered, and saide vnto him, Abraham is our father. Iesus said vnto them, If ye were Abrahams children, ye woulde doe the workes of Abraham.
8:40But nowe ye goe about to kill mee, a man that haue told you the trueth, which I haue heard of God: this did not Abraham.
8:41Ye do the workes of your father. Then said they to him, We are not borne of fornication: we haue one Father, which is God.
8:42Therefore Iesus sayde vnto them, If God were your Father, then woulde ye loue mee: for I proceeded foorth, and came from God, neither came I of my selfe, but he sent me.
8:43Why doe ye not vnderstande my talke? because ye cannot heare my worde.
8:44Ye are of your father the deuill, and the lustes of your father ye will doe: hee hath bene a murtherer from the beginning, and abode not in the trueth, because there is no trueth in him. When hee speaketh a lie, then speaketh hee of his owne: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.
8:45And because I tell you the trueth, yee beleeue me not.
8:46Which of you can rebuke me of sinne? and if I say the trueth, why do ye not beleeue me?
8:47He that is of God, heareth Gods wordes: yee therefore heare them not, because ye are not of God.
8:48Then answered the Iewes, and said vnto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritane, and hast a deuil?
8:49Iesus answered, I haue not a deuil, but I honour my Father, and ye haue dishonoured me.
8:50And I seeke not mine owne praise: but there is one that seeketh it, and iudgeth.
8:51Verely, verely I say vnto you, If a man keepe my word, he shall neuer see death.
8:52Then said the Iewes to him, Now know we that thou hast a deuill. Abraham is dead, and the Prophets: and thou sayest, If a man keepe my worde, he shall neuer taste of death.
8:53Art thou greater then our father Abraham, which is dead? and the Prophets are dead: whome makest thou thy selfe?
8:54Iesus answered, If I honour my selfe, mine honour is nothing worth: it is my Father that honoureth me, whome ye say, that hee is your God.
8:55Yet ye haue not knowen him: but I knowe him, and if I should say I know him not, I should be a liar like vnto you: but I knowe him, and keepe his worde.
8:56Your father Abraham reioyced to see my day, and he sawe it, and was glad.
8:57Then sayd ye Iewes vnto him, Thou art not yet fiftie yeere olde, and hast thou seene Abraham?
8:58Iesus sayd vnto them, Verely, verely I say vnto you, before Abraham was, I am.
8:59Then tooke they vp stones, to cast at him, but Iesus hid himselfe, and went out of the Temple: And hee passed through the middes of them, and so went his way.

8:1Iesus went vnto ye Mount of Oliues:
8:2And earely in the morning hee came againe into the Temple, and all the people came vnto him, and he sate downe, and taught them.
8:3And the Scribes and Pharisees brought vnto him a woman taken in adultery, and when they had set her in the mids,
8:4They say vnto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
8:5Now Moses in the Law commanded vs, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
8:6This they said, tempting him, that they might haue to accuse him. But Iesus stouped downe, and with his finger wrote on the ground as though he heard them not.
8:7So when they continued asking him, hee lift vp himselfe, and saide vnto them, Hee that is without sinne among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8:8And againe, hee stouped downe, and wrote on the ground.
8:9And they which heard it, being conuicted by their owne conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, euen vnto the last: and Iesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
8:10When Iesus had lift vp himselfe, and saw none but the woman, hee said vnto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee?
8:11She saide, No man, Lord. And Iesus saide vnto her, Neither doe I condemne thee: Goe, and sinne no more.
8:12Then spake Iesus againe vnto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth mee, shall not walke in darkenesse, but shall haue the light of life.
8:13The Pharisees therefore said vnto him, Thou bearest record of thy selfe, thy record is not true.
8:14Iesus answered, and said vnto them, Though I beare record of my selfe, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I goe: but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I goe.
8:15Yee iudge after the flesh, I iudge no man.
8:16And yet if I iudge, my iudgement is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
8:17It is also written in your Law, that the testimonie of two men is true.

8:20These words spake Iesus in the treasury, as hee taught in the Temple: and no man layd hands on him, for his houre was not yet come.
8:21Then saide Iesus againe vnto them, I goe my way, and ye shall seeke me, & shall die in your sinnes: Whither I goe, ye cannot come.
8:22Then said the Iewes, Will hee kill himselfe? because he saith, Whither I goe, ye cannot come.
8:23And hee said vnto them, Yee are from beneath, I am from aboue: Yee are of this world, I am not of this world.
8:24I said therefore vnto you, that ye shall die in your sinnes. For if yee beleeue not that I am hee, yee shall die in your sinnes.
8:25Then said they vnto him, Who art thou? And Iesus saith vnto them, Euen the same that I saide vnto you from the beginning.
8:26I haue many things to say, and to iudge of you: But hee that sent mee is true, and I speake to the world, those things which I haue heard of him.

8:33They answered him, We be Abraham seed, and were neuer in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Yee shall be made free?

8:36If the Sonne therfore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
8:37I know that yee are Abrahams seed, but ye seeke to kill mee, because my word hath no place in you.
8:38I speake that which I haue seene with my Father: and ye do that which ye haue seene with your father.

8:47He that is of God, heareth Gods words: ye therefore heare them not, because ye are not of God.
8:48Then answered the Iewes, and said vnto him, Say wee not well that thou art a Samaritane, & hast a deuill?
8:49Iesus answered, I haue not a deuill: but I honour my Father, and ye doe dishonour me.

8:59Then tooke they vp stones to cast at him: but Iesus hidde himselfe, and went out of the Temple, going thorow the midst of them, and so passed by.
