9:1	And as Iesus passed by, he sawe a man, which was blynde from hys byrth.
9:2	And his discyples asked him sayinge: Master, who dyd synne, this man, or hys father and mother, that he was borne blynd?
9:3	Iesus answered: Nether hath this man sinned, nor yet his father and mother: but that the worckes of God shulde be shewed in hym.
9:4	I must, worcke the worckes of hym that sent me, whyle it is daye. The nyght commeth, when no man can worcke.
9:5	As longe as I am in the worlde. I am the lyght of the worlde.
9:6	Assone as he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made claye of the spetle, and rubbed the claye on the eyes of the blynde,
9:7	& sayd vnto him: Go, wesshe the in the pole of Siloe, which (by interpretacion) is asmoche to saye as, sent. He went his waye therfore, and wasshed, & came agayne, seinge:
9:8	So the neyghboures and they that had sene him before (how that he was a begger) said: is not this he that sat and begged?
9:9	Some sayd: this is he. Agayne, other sayd he is lyke hym. He hym selfe sayde: I am euen he.
9:10	Therfore sayde they vnto hym: Howe are thyne eyes opened?
9:11	He answered and sayde: The man that is called Iesus, made claye, and anoynted myne eyes, and sayd vnto me: Go to the pole Siloe, and wasshe. And whan I went & wesshed, I receaued my syght.
9:12	Then sayd they vnto him: where is he? He sayde: I cannot tell.
9:13	They brought to the pharises, hym that a lytell before was blynde:
9:14	and it was the Sabboth daye, when Iesus made the claye, and opened hys eyes.
9:15	Then agayne the pharises also asked hym, howe he had receaued his syght. He sayd vnto them: he put claye vpon myne eyes, and I wasshed, and do se.
9:16	Therfore sayd some of the pharises: thys man is not of God, because he kepeth not the Saboth daye. Other sayde: howe can a man that is a synner, do such myracles? And ther was a stryfe amonge them.
9:17	They spake vnto the blynde man agayne: What sayst thou of him, because he hath opened thyne eyes? He sayd: He is a prophete.
9:18	But the Iewes dyd not beleue of the man (how that he had bene blynde, and receaued hys syght) vntyll they called the father and mother of him that had receaued hys syght.
9:19	And they asked them, saying: Is thys youre sonne, whom ye saye was borne blynde? How doth he now se then?
9:20	His father and mother answered them, and sayde: we knowe, that thys is oure sonne, and that he was borne blynde:
9:21	but by what meanes he nowe seeth, we cannot tell. Or who hath opened his eyes, cannot we tell He is olde ynough, aske him, let hym answere for hym selfe.
9:22	Suche wordes spake hys father and mother, because they feared the Iewes. For the Iewes had conspyred all ready, that yf eny man dyd confesse that he was Christ, he shulde be excommunicat out of the synagoge.
9:23	Therfore sayd hys father and mother: he is olde ynough, aske him.
9:24	Then agayne called they the man that was blynde, and sayd vnto hym: Geue God the prayse: we knowe that thys man is a synner.
9:25	He answered therfore, and sayde: Whyther he be a synner or no, I cannot tell. One thynge I am sure of: that where as I was blynde, nowe I se.
9:26	Then sayde they to hym agayne: What dyd he to the? How opened he thyne eyes?
9:27	He answered them: I tolde you yer whyle, and ye dyd not heare. Wherfore wold ye heare it agayne? Wyll ye also be his disciples?
9:28	Then rated they hym, & sayd: Be thou hys disciple. We are Moses disciples.
9:29	We are sure, that God spake vnto Moses. As for this felowe, we knowe not from whence he is.
9:30	The man answered, and sayde vnto them: this is a maruelous thing, that ye wote not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened myne eyes.
9:31	For we be sure, that God heareth not synners. But yf eny man be a worshipper of God, and obedient vnto his wyl, him heareth he.
9:32	Sence the world began was it not hearde, that eny man opened the eyes of one that was borne blynde.
9:33	If thys man were not of God, he coulde haue done nothing.
9:34	They answered, and sayd vnto hym: thou art al together borne in synne, and dost thou teach vs? And they cast him out.
9:35	Iesus heard that they had excommunicate hym: and when he had founde hym, he sayde vnto hym: doest thou beleue on the sonne of God?
9:36	He answered and sayd: Who is it Lord that I myght beleue on him?
9:37	And Iesus said vnto him: Thou hast sene him, and he it is that talketh with the.
9:38	And he sayd: Lord, I beleue, and he worshipped hym.
9:39	And Iesus sayd vnto him: I am come vnto iudgement into this worlde: that they which se not, myght se: and that they which se, might be made blynde.
9:40	And some of the pharises which were with him, hearde these wordes, and sayd vnto him: are we blynde also?
9:41	Iesus sayd vnto them: If ye were blynde, ye shulde haue no synne. But now ye saye: we se, therfore your synne remayneth.


9:1	Therfor thei token stonys, to caste to hym; but Jhesus hidde hym, and wente out of the temple.
9:2	And Jhesus passynge, seiy a man blynd fro the birthe.
9:3	And hise disciplis axiden hym, Maistir, what synnede this man, or hise eldris, that he schulde be borun blynd?
9:4	Jhesus answeride, Nether this man synnede, nether hise eldris; but that the werkis of God be schewid in hym.
9:5	It bihoueth me to worche the werkis of hym that sente me, as longe as the dai is; the nyyt schal come, whanne no man may worche.
9:6	As longe as Y am in the world, Y am the liyt of the world.
9:7	Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he spette in to the erthe, and made cley of the spotil, and anoyntide the cley on hise iyen,
9:8	and seide to hym, Go, and be thou waisschun in the watir of Siloe, that is to seie, Sent. Thanne he wente, and waisschide, and cam seynge.
9:9	And so neiyboris, and thei that hadden seyn him bifor, for he was a beggere, seiden, Whether this is not he, that sat, and beggide?
9:10	Othere men seiden, That this it is; othere men seyden, Nai, but he is lijc hym.
9:11	But he seide, That Y am. Therfor thei seiden to hym, Hou ben thin iyen openyd?
9:12	He answerde, Thilke man, that is seid Jhesus, made clei, and anoyntide myn iyen, and seide to me, Go thou to the watre of Siloe, and wassche; and Y wente, and wasschide, and say.
9:13	And thei seiden to hym, Where is he? He seide, Y woot not.
9:14	Thei leden hym that was blynd to the Farisees.
9:15	And it was sabat, whanne Jhesus made cley, and openyde hise iyen.
9:16	Eft the Farisees axiden hym, hou he hadde seyn. And he seide to hem, He leide to me cley on the iyen; and Y wasschide, and Y se.
9:17	Therfor summe of the Fariseis seiden, This man is not of God, that kepith not the sabat. Othere men seiden, Hou may a synful man do these signes. And strijf was among hem.
9:18	Therfor thei seien eftsoone to the blynd man, What seist thou of hym, that openyde thin iyen? And he seide, That he is a prophete.
9:19	Therfor Jewis bileueden not of hym, that he was blynd, and hadde seyn, til thei clepiden his fadir and modir, that hadde seyn.
9:20	And thei axiden hem, and seiden, Is this youre sone, which ye seien was borun blynd? hou thanne seeth he now?
9:21	His fadir and modir answeriden to hem, and seiden, We witen, that this is oure sone, and that he was borun blynd;
9:22	but hou he seeth now, we witen neuer, or who openyde hise iyen, we witen nere; axe ye hym, he hath age, speke he of hym silf.
9:23	His fader and modir seiden these thingis, for thei dredden the Jewis; for thanne the Jewis hadden conspirid, that if ony man knoulechide hym Crist, he schulde be don out of the synagoge.
9:24	Therfor his fadir and modir seiden, That he hath age, axe ye hym.
9:25	Therfor eftsoone thei clepiden the man, that was blynd, and seiden to hym, Yyue thou glorie to God; we witen, that this man is a synnere.
9:26	Thanne he seide, If he is a synnere, Y woot neuer; o thing Y woot, that whanne Y was blynd, now Y se.
9:27	Therfor thei seiden to hym, What dide he to thee? hou openyde he thin iyen?
9:28	He answerde to hem, Y seide to you now, and ye herden; what wolen ye eftsoone here? whether ye wolen be maad hise discyplis?
9:29	Therfor thei cursiden hym, and seiden, Be thou his disciple; we ben disciplis of Moises.
9:30	We witen, that God spak to Moises; but we knowen not this, of whennus he is.
9:31	Thilke man answeride, and seide to hem, For in this is a wondurful thing, that ye witen not, of whennus he is, and he hath openyd myn iyen.
9:32	And we witen, that God herith not synful men, but if ony `man is worschypere of God, and doith his wille, he herith hym.
9:33	Fro the world it is not herd, that ony man openyde the iyen of a blynd borun man; but this were of God,
9:34	he myyt not do ony thing.
9:35	Thei answeriden, and seiden to hym, Thou art al borun in synnes, and techist thou vs? And thei putten hym out.
9:36	Jhesus herd, that thei hadden putte hym out; and whanne he hadde founde hym, he seide to hym, Bileuest thou in the sone of God?
9:37	He answerde, and seide, Lord, who is he, that Y bileue in hym?
9:38	And Jhesus seide to hym, And thou hast seyn him, and he it is, that spekith with thee.
9:39	And he seide, Lord, Y byleue. And he felle doun, and worschipide hym.
9:40	Therfore Jhesus seide to hym, Y cam in to this world, `in to doom, that thei that seen not, see, and thei that seen, be maad blynde.
9:41	And summe of the Faryseis herden, that weren with hym, and thei seiden to hym, Whether we ben blynde?

9:17	They sayde agayne vnto ye blynde: What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He sayde: he is a prophet.
9:18	The Iewes beleued not hi, that he was blynde, and had receaued his sight, tyll they called the elders of him, that had receaued his sight,
9:19	and they axed them, and sayde: Is this youre sonne, whom ye saye, was borne blynde? How doth he now se then?
9:20	His elders answered them, and sayde: We knowe, that this is oure sonne, and that he was borne blynde.
9:21	But how he now seyeth, we can not tell: or who hath opened his eyes, can we not tell. He is olde ynough himself, axe him, let him speake for him self.
9:22	This sayde his elders, because they feared the Iewes. For the Iewes had conspyred allready, that yf eny man dyd confesse that he was Christ, the same shulde be excomunicate.
9:23	Therfore sayde his elders: He is olde ynough, axe him.
9:24	Then called they the ma agayne yt was blynde, and sayde vnto him: Geue God ye prayse, we knowe that this man is a synner.
9:25	He answered, & sayde: Whether he be a synner or no, I can not tell: one thinge am I sure off, that I was blynde, and now I se.

9:27	He answered them: I tolde you right now. Herde ye it not? What, wil ye heare it agayne? Will ye also be his disciples?
9:28	Then rayted they him, and sayde: Thou art his disciple.
9:29	We are sure that God spake wt Moses: As for this felowe, we know not whece he is.
9:30	The man answered, and sayde vnto the: This is a maruelous thinge, that ye wote not whence he is, and he hath opened mine eyes.
9:31	For we knowe that God heareth not ye sinners: but yf eny ma be a fearer of God, and doth his will, him heareth he.
9:32	Sens ye worlde beganne was it not herde, that eny man opened the eyes of one that was borne blynde.
9:33	Yf this man were not of God, he coulde haue done nothinge.
9:34	They answered, and sayde vnto him: Thou art alltogether borne in synne, and teachest thou vs? And they thrust him out.
9:35	Iesus herde, yt they had thrust him out, and wha he had founde him, he sayde vnto him: Beleuest thou on the sonne of God?
9:36	He answered, and sayde: LORDE, who is it, yt I might beleue on him?
9:37	Iesus sayde vnto him: Thou hast sene him, and he it is, that talketh with the.
9:38	He sayde: LORDE, I beleue. And he worshipped him.
9:39	And Iesus sayde: I am come to iudgmet in to this worlde, that they which se not, might se: and that they which se, might be made blynde.
9:40	And some of the Pharises yt were with him, herde this, and sayde vnto him: Are we then blynde also?
9:41	Iesus sayde vnto the: Yf ye were blynde, ye shulde haue no synne. But now that ye saye, we se, therfore youre sonne remayneth.
