John - Chapter: 16

>
16:1`These things I have spoken to you, that ye may not be stumbled,
16:2out of the synagogues they will put you; but an hour doth come, that every one who hath killed you, may think to offer service unto God;
16:3and these things they will do to you, because they did not know the Father, nor me.
16:4`But these things I have spoken to you, that when the hour may come, ye may remember them, that I said `them' to you, and these things to you from the beginning I did not say, because I was with you;
16:5and now I go away to Him who sent me, and none of you doth ask me, Whither dost thou go?
16:6but because these things I have said to you, the sorrow hath filled your heart.
16:7`But I tell you the truth; it is better for you that I go away, for if I may not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you, and if I go on, I will send Him unto you;
16:8and having come, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment;
16:9concerning sin indeed, because they do not believe in me;
16:10and concerning righteousness, because unto my Father I go away, and no more do ye behold me;
16:11and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world hath been judged.
16:12`I have yet many things to say to you, but ye are not able to bear `them' now;
16:13and when He may come -- the Spirit of truth -- He will guide you to all the truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but as many things as He will hear He will speak, and the coming things He will tell you;
16:14He will glorify me, because of mine He will take, and will tell to you.
16:15`All things, as many as the Father hath, are mine; because of this I said, That of mine He will take, and will tell to you;
16:16a little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go away unto the Father.'
16:17Therefore said `some' of his disciples one to another, `What is this that he saith to us, A little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, and, Because I go away unto the Father?'
16:18they said then, `What is this he saith -- the little while? we have not known what he saith.'
16:19Jesus, therefore, knew that they were wishing to ask him, and he said to them, `Concerning this do ye seek one with another, because I said, A little while, and you do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me?
16:20verily, verily, I say to you, that ye shall weep and lament, and the world will rejoice; and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow joy will become.
16:21`The woman, when she may bear, hath sorrow, because her hour did come, and when she may bear the child, no more doth she remember the anguish, because of the joy that a man was born to the world.
16:22`And ye, therefore, now, indeed, have sorrow; and again I will see you, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one doth take from you,
16:23and in that day ye will question me nothing; verily, verily, I say to you, as many things as ye may ask of the Father in my name, He will give you;
16:24till now ye did ask nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
16:25`These things in similitudes I have spoken to you, but there cometh an hour when no more in similitudes will I speak to you, but freely of the Father, will tell you.
16:26`In that day, in my name ye will make request, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father for you,
16:27for the Father himself doth love you, because me ye have loved, and ye have believed that I from God came forth;
16:28I came forth from the Father, and have come to the world; again I leave the world, and go on unto the Father.'
16:29His disciples say to him, `Lo, now freely thou dost speak, and no similitude speakest thou;
16:30now we have known that thou hast known all things, and hast no need that any one do question thee; in this we believe that from God thou didst come forth.'
16:31Jesus answered them, `Now do ye believe? lo, there doth come an hour,
16:32and now it hath come, that ye may be scattered, each to his own things, and me ye may leave alone, and I am not alone, because the Father is with me;
16:33these things I have spoken to you, that in me ye may have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation, but take courage -- I have overcome the world.'

16:1These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
16:2They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
16:3And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
16:4But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
16:5But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
16:6But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
16:7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
16:8And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
16:9Of sin, because they believe not on me;
16:10Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
16:11Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
16:12I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
16:13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
16:14He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16:15All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
16:16A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
16:17Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
16:18They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.
16:19Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?
16:20Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
16:21A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
16:22And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
16:23And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
16:24Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
16:25These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.
16:26At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
16:27For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
16:28I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
16:29His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
16:30Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
16:31Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
16:32Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
16:33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

16:1I have spoken these things to you so that you may not be offended.
16:2They will put you out of the synagogue, but an hour is coming that everyone killing you will think to bear a service before God.
16:3And they will do these things to you because they do not know the Father nor Me.
16:4But I have spoken these things to you so that when the hour comes you may recall them, that I told you these things. But I did not say these things to you from the beginning because I was with you.
16:5But now I am going to Him who sent Me. And not one of you asks Me, Where are you going?
16:6But because I have said these things to you, grief has filled your heart.
16:7But I tell you the truth, it is advantageous for you that I should go; for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.
16:8And when that One comes, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment.
16:9Concerning sin, because they do not believe into Me;
16:10and concerning righteousness, because I am going to the Father, and you no longer see Me;
16:11and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
16:12I have yet many things to tell you, but you are not able to bear now.
16:13But when that One comes, the Spirit of truth, He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will announce the coming things to you.
16:14That One will glorify Me, for He will receive from Mine and will announce to you.
16:15All things which the Father has are Mine. For this reason I said that He receives from Mine, and will announce to you.
16:16A little while and you do not see Me. And again a little while , and you will see Me, because I go away to the Father.
16:17Then His disciples said to one another, What is this which He says to us, A little while , and you do not see me; and again, A little and you will see Me? And, Because I go away to the Father?
16:18Then they said, What is this that He says, The little? We do not know what He says.
16:19Then Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him. And He said to them, Do you seek answers with one another concerning this, because I said, A little while , and you do not see Me; and again a little and you will see Me?
16:20Truly, truly, I say to you that you will weep and will lament, but the world will rejoice. And you will be grieved, but your grief will become joy.
16:21The woman has grief when she bears, because her hour came, but when she brings forth the child, she no longer remembers the distress, because of the joy that a man was born into the world.
16:22And you, then, truly have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one takes your joy from you.
16:23And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, Whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
16:24Until now you asked nothing in My name; ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be full.
16:25I have spoken these things to you in allegories. An hour comes when I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but I will reveal the Father plainly to you.
16:26In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not tell you that I will petition the Father about you;
16:27for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came out from God.
16:28I came out from the Father and have come into the world; I leave the world again and go to the Father.
16:29His disciples said to Him, Behold, now You speak plainly and You say no allegory.
16:30Now we know that You know all things and have no need that anyone question You. By this we believe that You came out from God.
16:31Jesus answered them, Do you believe now?
16:32Behold, an hour is coming, and now has come, that you are scattered, each one to his own things, and you will leave Me alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
16:33I have spoken these things to you that you may have peace in Me. You have distress in the world; but be encouraged, I have overcome the world.
