Acts - Chapter: 2

>
2:1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2:2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
2:3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
2:4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
2:5And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
2:6Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
2:7And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
2:8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
2:9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
2:10Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
2:11Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
2:12And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
2:13Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
2:14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
2:15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
2:16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
2:17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
2:18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
2:19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
2:20The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
2:21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
2:22Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
2:23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
2:24Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
2:25For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
2:26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
2:27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
2:28Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
2:29Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
2:30Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
2:31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
2:32This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
2:33Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
2:34For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
2:35Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
2:36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
2:37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
2:38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
2:39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
2:40And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
2:41Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
2:42And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
2:43And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
2:44And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
2:45And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
2:46And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
2:47Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

2:1Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2:2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
2:3Then there appeared to them divided tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
2:4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
2:5And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
2:6And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
2:7Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans?
2:8And how is it that we hear, each man in our own language in which we were born?
2:9Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, in Judea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia,
2:10Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and in the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, Jews and proselytes,
2:11Cretans and Arabs, we hear them speaking in our own languages the wonderful works of God."
2:12So they were all amazed and in doubt, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?"
2:13Others mocking said, "They are full of new wine."
2:14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "You men of Judea and all of you who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.
2:15Because, these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
2:16But this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
2:17'And it will come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.
2:18And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out of My Spirit in those days; and they will prophesy.
2:19I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
2:20The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.
2:21And it will come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.'
2:22"You men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man approved by God among you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did by Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know:
2:23Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands, have crucified, and put to death;
2:24whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
2:25Because, David says concerning Him: 'I foresaw the LORD always before my face, because, He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
2:26Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
2:27Because, You will not leave my soul in the abode of the dead, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
2:28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.'
2:29"Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
2:30Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,
2:31he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in the abode of the dead, nor did His flesh see corruption.
2:32This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
2:33Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
2:34"Because, David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand,
2:35until I make Your enemies Your footstool."'
2:36"Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ."
2:37Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"
2:38Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
2:39Because, the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, that is to as many as the Lord our God will call."
2:40And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Save yourselves from this perverse generation."
2:41Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
2:42And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
2:43Then reverence came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
2:44Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,
2:45and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all the people, as anyone had need.
2:46So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
2:47praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

2:1Whe the fyftith daye was come they were all with one accorde togeder in one place.
2:2And sodenly ther cam a sounde from heaven as it had bene the comminge of a myghty wynde and it filled all the housse where they sate.
2:3And ther appered vnto them cloven tonges lyke as they had bene fyre and it sate vpon eache of them:
2:4and they were all filled with the holy goost and beganne to speake with other tonges even as the sprete gave them vtteraunce.
2:5 And ther were dwellinge at Ierusalem Iewes devoute men which were of all nacions vnder heaven.
2:6When this was noysed aboute the multitude came to gether and were astonyed because that every man hearde the speake his awne touge.
2:7They wondred all and marveyled sayinge amoge them selves: Beholde are not all these which speake of Galile?
2:8And how heare we every man his awne touge wherein we were boren?
2:9Parthians Medes and Elamytes and the inhabiters of Mesopotamia of Iury and of Capadocia of Ponthus and Asia
2:10Phrigia Pamphilia and of Egypte and of the parties of Libia which is besyde Syrene and straungers of Rome Iewes and convertes
2:11Grekes and Arabians: we have herde them speake with oure awne tonges the greate workes of God.
2:12They were all amased and wondred sayinge one to another: what meaneth this?
2:13Other mocked the sayinge: they are full of newe wyne.
2:14But Peter stepped forth with the eleve and lift vp his voyce and sayde vnto them: Ye men of Iewrye and all ye that inhabite Ierusalem: be this knowe vnto you and with youre eares heare my wordes.
2:15These are not dronken as ye suppose: for it is yet but the thyrde houre of ye daye.
2:16But this is that which was spoken by ye Prophete Iohel:
2:17It shalbe in the last dayes sayth God: of my sprete I will powre out vpon all flesshe. And youre sonnes and youre doughters shall prophesy and youre yoge men shall se visions and youre olde me shall dreme dremes.
2:18And on my servauts and on my honde maydens I will powre out of my sprete in those dayes and they shall prophesye.
2:19And I will shewe wonders in heaven a bove and tokens in the erth benethe bloud and fyre and the vapour of smoke.
2:20The sunne shalbe turned into darknes and the mone into bloud before that greate and notable daye of the Lorde come.
2:21And it shalbe that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lorde shalbe saved.
2:22Ye men of Israel heare these wordes. Iesus of Nazareth a ma approved of God amoge you with myracles wondres and signes which God dyd by him in ye myddes of you as ye youre selves knowe:
2:23him have ye taken by the hondes of vnrightewes persones after he was delivered by the determinat counsell and foreknoweledge of God and have crucified and slayne:
2:24whom God hath raysed vp and lowsed the sorowes of deeth because it was vnpossible that he shuld be holden of it.
2:25For David speaketh of him: Afore honde I sawe God alwayes before me: For he is on my ryght honde that I shuld not be moved.
2:26Therfore dyd my hert reioyce and my tonge was glad. Moreover also my flesshe shall rest in hope
2:27because thou wilt not leve my soul in hell nether wilt suffre thyne holye to se corrupcio.
2:28Thou hast shewed me the wayes of lyfe and shalt make me full of ioye with thy countenaunce.
2:29 Men and brethren let me frely speake vnto you of the partriarke David: For he is both deed and buryed and his sepulcre remayneth with vs vnto this daye.
2:30Therfore seinge he was a Prophet and knewe that God had sworne with an othe to him that the frute of his loynes shuld sit on his seat (in that Christ shulde ryse agayne in the flesshe)
2:31he sawe before: and spake in the resurreccion of Christ that his soule shulde not be left in hell: nether his flesse shuld se corrupcio.
2:32This Iesus hath God raysyd vp wherof we all are witnesses.
2:33Sence now that he by the right honde of God exalted is and hath receaved of the father the promyse of the holy goost he hath sheed forthe that which ye nowe se and heare.
2:34For David is not ascendyd into heave: but he sayde. The Lorde sayde to my Lorde sit on my right honde
2:35vntill I make thy fooes thy fote stole.
2:36So therfore let all the housse of Israel knowe for a suerty yt God hath made ye same Iesus whom ye have crucified lorde and Christ.
2:37When they hearde this they were pricked in their hertes and sayd vnto Peter and vnto the other Apostles: Ye men and brethre what shall we do?
2:38Peter sayde vnto them: repent and be baptised every one of you in the name of Iesus Christ for the remission of synnes and ye shall receave the gyfte of the holy goost.
2:39For ye promyse was made vnto you and to youre chyldre and to all that are afarre even as many as ye Lorde oure God shall call.
2:40And with many other wordes bare he witnes and exhorted them sayinge: Save youre selves from this vntowarde generacion.
2:41Then they that gladly receaved his preachynge were baptised: and the same daye ther were added vnto them aboute thre thousande soules.
2:42And they continued in the Apostles doctrine and felloushippe and in breakinge of breed and in prayer.
2:43And feare came over every soule. And many wondres and signes were shewed by the Apostles.
2:44And all that beleved kept them selves to gedder and had all thinges comen
2:45and solde their possessions and goodes and departed them to all men as every man had nede.
2:46And they continued dayly with one acorde in the teple and brake breed in every housse and dyd eate their meate to gedder with gladnes and singlenes of hert
2:47praysinge God and had faveour with all the people. And the Lorde added to ye congregacion dayly soche as shuld be saved.
