Acts - Chapter: 2

2:1And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2:2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
2:3And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
2:4And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
2:5And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
2:6Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
2:7And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
2:8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
2:9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
2:10Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
2:11Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
2:12And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
2:13Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
2:14But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
2:15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
2:16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
2:17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
2:18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
2:19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
2:20The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
2:21And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
2:22Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:
2:23Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
2:24Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
2:25For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
2:26Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
2:27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
2:28Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
2:29Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
2:30Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
2:31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
2:32This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
2:33Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
2:34For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
2:35Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
2:36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
2:37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
2:38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
2:39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
2:40And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
2:41Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
2:42And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
2:43And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.
2:44And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
2:45And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
2:46And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
2:47Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

2:1And when the day of Pentecost was come, they were al with one accord in one place.
2:2And suddenly there came a sounde from heauen, as of a russhing and mightie winde, and it filled all the house where they sate.
2:3And there appeared vnto them clouen tongues, like fire, and it sate vpon eche of them.
2:4And they were all filled with the holy Ghost, and began to speake with other tongues, as the Spirit gaue them vtterance.
2:5And there were dwelling at Hierusalem Iewes, men that feared God, of euery nation vnder heauen.
2:6Nowe when this was noised, the multitude came together and were astonied, because that euery man heard them speake his owne language.
2:7And they wondered al, and marueiled, saying among themselues, Beholde, are not all these which speake, of Galile?
2:8How then heare we euery man our owne language, wherein we were borne?
2:9Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the inhabitants of Mesopotamia, and of Iudea, and of Cappadocia, of Pontus, and Asia,
2:10And of Phrygia, and Pamphylia, of Egypt, and of the partes of Libya, which is beside Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, and Iewes, and Proselytes,
2:11Creetes, and Arabians: wee hearde them speake in our owne tongues the wonderful works of God.
2:12They were all then amased, and douted, saying one to another, What may this be?
2:13And others mocked, and saide, They are full of newe wine.
2:14But Peter standing with ye Eleuen, lift vp his voice, and said vnto them, Ye men of Iudea, and ye all that inhabite Hierusalem, be this knowen vnto you, and hearken vnto my woordes.
2:15For these are not drunken, as yee suppose, since it is but the third houre of the day.
2:16But this is that, which was spoken by the Prophet Ioel,
2:17And it shalbe in the last daies, saith God, I wil powre out of my Spirite vpon al flesh, and your sonnes, and your daughters shall prophecie, and your yong men shall see visions, and your old men shall dreame dreames.
2:18And on my seruauntes, and on mine handmaides I will powre out of my Spirite in those daies, and they shall prophecie.
2:19And I wil shew wonders in heauen aboue, and tokens in the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and the vapour of smoke.
2:20The Sunne shalbe turned into darkenesse, and the moone into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come.
2:21And it shalbe, that whosoeuer shall call on the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued.
2:22Yee men of Israel, heare these woordes, JESUS of Nazareth, a man approued of God among you with great workes, and wonders, and signes, which God did by him in the middes of you, as yee your selues also knowe:
2:23Him, I say, being deliuered by the determinate counsell, and foreknowledge of God, after you had taken, with wicked handes you haue crucified and slaine.
2:24Whome God hath raised vp, and loosed the sorrowes of death, because it was vnpossible that he should be holden of it.
2:25For Dauid sayeth concerning him, I beheld the Lord alwaies before me: for hee is at my right hand, that I should not be shaken.
2:26Therefore did mine heart reioyce, and my tongue was glad, and moreouer also my flesh shall rest in hope,
2:27Because thou wilt not leaue my soule in graue, neither wilt suffer thine Holy one to see corruption.
2:28Thou hast shewed me the waies of life, and shalt make me full of ioy with thy countenance.
2:29Men and brethren, I may boldly speake vnto you of the Patriarke Dauid, that hee is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre remaineth with vs vnto this day.
2:30Therefore, seeing hee was a Prophet, and knewe that God had sworne with an othe to him, that of the fruite of his loynes hee woulde raise vp Christ concerning the flesh, to set him vpon his throne,
2:31Hee knowing this before, spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soule shoulde not bee left in graue, neither his flesh shoulde see corruption.
2:32This Iesus hath God raised vp, whereof we all are witnesses.
2:33Since then that he by the right hande of God hath bene exalted, and hath receiued of his Father the promise of the holy Ghost, hee hath shed foorth this which yee nowe see and heare.
2:34For Dauid is not ascended into heauen, but he sayth, The Lord sayd to my Lord, Sit at my right hande,
2:35Vntill I make thine enemies thy footestoole.
2:36Therefore, let all the house of Israel know for a suretie, that God hath made him both Lord, and Christ, this Iesus, I say, whome yee haue crucified.
2:37Now when they heard it, they were pricked in their heartes, and said vnto Peter and the other Apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we doe?
2:38Then Peter said vnto them, Amend your liues, and bee baptized euery one of you in the Name of Iesus Christ for the remission of sinnes: and ye shall receiue the gift of the holy Ghost.
2:39For the promise is made vnto you, and to your children, and to all that are a farre off, euen as many as the Lord our God shall call.
2:40And with many other words he besought and exhorted them, saying, Saue your selues from this froward generation.
2:41Then they that gladly receiued his word, were baptized: and the same day there were added to the Church about three thousand soules.
2:42And they continued in the Apostles doctrine, and fellowship, and breaking of bread, and prayers.
2:43And feare came vpon euery soule: and many wonders and signes were done by ye Apostles.
2:44And all that beleeued, were in one place, and had all things common.
2:45And they sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all me, as euery one had need.
2:46And they continued dayly with one accord in the Temple, and breaking bread at home, did eate their meate together with gladnesse and singlenesse of heart,
2:47Praysing God, and had fauour with all the people: and the Lord added to the Church from day to day, such as should be saued.

2:1Whe the fyftith daye was come they were all with one accorde togeder in one place.
2:2And sodenly ther cam a sounde from heaven as it had bene the comminge of a myghty wynde and it filled all the housse where they sate.
2:3And ther appered vnto them cloven tonges lyke as they had bene fyre and it sate vpon eache of them:
2:4and they were all filled with the holy goost and beganne to speake with other tonges even as the sprete gave them vtteraunce.
2:5 And ther were dwellinge at Ierusalem Iewes devoute men which were of all nacions vnder heaven.
2:6When this was noysed aboute the multitude came to gether and were astonyed because that every man hearde the speake his awne touge.
2:7They wondred all and marveyled sayinge amoge them selves: Beholde are not all these which speake of Galile?
2:8And how heare we every man his awne touge wherein we were boren?
2:9Parthians Medes and Elamytes and the inhabiters of Mesopotamia of Iury and of Capadocia of Ponthus and Asia
2:10Phrigia Pamphilia and of Egypte and of the parties of Libia which is besyde Syrene and straungers of Rome Iewes and convertes
2:11Grekes and Arabians: we have herde them speake with oure awne tonges the greate workes of God.
2:12They were all amased and wondred sayinge one to another: what meaneth this?
2:13Other mocked the sayinge: they are full of newe wyne.
2:14But Peter stepped forth with the eleve and lift vp his voyce and sayde vnto them: Ye men of Iewrye and all ye that inhabite Ierusalem: be this knowe vnto you and with youre eares heare my wordes.
2:15These are not dronken as ye suppose: for it is yet but the thyrde houre of ye daye.
2:16But this is that which was spoken by ye Prophete Iohel:
2:17It shalbe in the last dayes sayth God: of my sprete I will powre out vpon all flesshe. And youre sonnes and youre doughters shall prophesy and youre yoge men shall se visions and youre olde me shall dreme dremes.
2:18And on my servauts and on my honde maydens I will powre out of my sprete in those dayes and they shall prophesye.
2:19And I will shewe wonders in heaven a bove and tokens in the erth benethe bloud and fyre and the vapour of smoke.
2:20The sunne shalbe turned into darknes and the mone into bloud before that greate and notable daye of the Lorde come.
2:21And it shalbe that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lorde shalbe saved.
2:22Ye men of Israel heare these wordes. Iesus of Nazareth a ma approved of God amoge you with myracles wondres and signes which God dyd by him in ye myddes of you as ye youre selves knowe:
2:23him have ye taken by the hondes of vnrightewes persones after he was delivered by the determinat counsell and foreknoweledge of God and have crucified and slayne:
2:24whom God hath raysed vp and lowsed the sorowes of deeth because it was vnpossible that he shuld be holden of it.
2:25For David speaketh of him: Afore honde I sawe God alwayes before me: For he is on my ryght honde that I shuld not be moved.
2:26Therfore dyd my hert reioyce and my tonge was glad. Moreover also my flesshe shall rest in hope
2:27because thou wilt not leve my soul in hell nether wilt suffre thyne holye to se corrupcio.
2:28Thou hast shewed me the wayes of lyfe and shalt make me full of ioye with thy countenaunce.
2:29 Men and brethren let me frely speake vnto you of the partriarke David: For he is both deed and buryed and his sepulcre remayneth with vs vnto this daye.
2:30Therfore seinge he was a Prophet and knewe that God had sworne with an othe to him that the frute of his loynes shuld sit on his seat (in that Christ shulde ryse agayne in the flesshe)
2:31he sawe before: and spake in the resurreccion of Christ that his soule shulde not be left in hell: nether his flesse shuld se corrupcio.
2:32This Iesus hath God raysyd vp wherof we all are witnesses.
2:33Sence now that he by the right honde of God exalted is and hath receaved of the father the promyse of the holy goost he hath sheed forthe that which ye nowe se and heare.
2:34For David is not ascendyd into heave: but he sayde. The Lorde sayde to my Lorde sit on my right honde
2:35vntill I make thy fooes thy fote stole.
2:36So therfore let all the housse of Israel knowe for a suerty yt God hath made ye same Iesus whom ye have crucified lorde and Christ.
2:37When they hearde this they were pricked in their hertes and sayd vnto Peter and vnto the other Apostles: Ye men and brethre what shall we do?
2:38Peter sayde vnto them: repent and be baptised every one of you in the name of Iesus Christ for the remission of synnes and ye shall receave the gyfte of the holy goost.
2:39For ye promyse was made vnto you and to youre chyldre and to all that are afarre even as many as ye Lorde oure God shall call.
2:40And with many other wordes bare he witnes and exhorted them sayinge: Save youre selves from this vntowarde generacion.
2:41Then they that gladly receaved his preachynge were baptised: and the same daye ther were added vnto them aboute thre thousande soules.
2:42And they continued in the Apostles doctrine and felloushippe and in breakinge of breed and in prayer.
2:43And feare came over every soule. And many wondres and signes were shewed by the Apostles.
2:44And all that beleved kept them selves to gedder and had all thinges comen
2:45and solde their possessions and goodes and departed them to all men as every man had nede.
2:46And they continued dayly with one acorde in the teple and brake breed in every housse and dyd eate their meate to gedder with gladnes and singlenes of hert
2:47praysinge God and had faveour with all the people. And the Lorde added to ye congregacion dayly soche as shuld be saved.
