| 4:1 | Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, |
| 4:2 | being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. |
| 4:3 | And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, because it was already evening. |
| 4:4 | However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. |
| 4:5 | And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, |
| 4:6 | and Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. |
| 4:7 | And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, "By what authority or by what name have you done this?" |
| 4:8 | Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "You rulers of the people and elders of Israel: |
| 4:9 | If we this day are examined for the good deed done to the helpless man, by what means he has been made well, |
| 4:10 | let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, that by Him this man stands here before you whole. |
| 4:11 | This is the 'stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' |
| 4:12 | Nor is there salvation in any other, because, there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." |
| 4:13 | Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they recognized them, that they had been with Jesus. |
| 4:14 | And looking at the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. |
| 4:15 | But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, |
| 4:16 | saying, "What shall we do to these men? Because, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done by them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. |
| 4:17 | But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no one in this name." |
| 4:18 | So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. |
| 4:19 | But Peter and John replied and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. |
| 4:20 | Because we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." |
| 4:21 | So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. |
| 4:22 | Because, the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed. |
| 4:23 | And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. |
| 4:24 | So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: "Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and everything that is in them, |
| 4:25 | who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: 'Why did the nations rage, and the people plot vain things? |
| 4:26 | The kings of the earth took their stand, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD and against His Christ.' |
| 4:27 | "Because, truly against Your holy Child Jesus, whom You have anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together |
| 4:28 | to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined beforehand to be done. |
| 4:29 | And now Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, |
| 4:30 | by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy Child Jesus." |
| 4:31 | And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. |
| 4:32 | Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. |
| 4:33 | And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. |
| 4:34 | Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; because, all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, |
| 4:35 | and laid them down at the apostles' feet. And distribution was made to everyone as they had need. |
| 4:36 | And Joses, who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated The Son of Encouragement), a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, |
| 4:37 | having land, sold it, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles' feet. |
| 4:1 | And as they spake vnto the people, the Priestes and the Captaine of the Temple, and the Sadduces came vpon them, |
| 4:2 | Taking it grieuously that they taught the people, and preached in Iesus Name the resurrection from the dead. |
| 4:3 | And they layde handes on them, and put them in holde, vntill the next day: for it was now euentide. |
| 4:4 | Howbeit, many of them which heard the word, beleeued, and the number of the men was about fiue thousand. |
| 4:5 | And it came to passe on the morow, that their rulers, and Elders, and Scribes, were gathered together at Hierusalem, |
| 4:6 | And Annas the chiefe Priest, and Caiaphas, and Iohn, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the hie Priestes. |
| 4:7 | And whe they had set them before them, they asked, By what power, or in what Name haue ye done this? |
| 4:8 | Then Peter ful of the holy Ghost, said vnto them, Ye rulers of the people, and Elders of Israel, |
| 4:9 | For as much as we this day are examined of the good deede done to the impotent man, to wit, by what meanes he is made whole, |
| 4:10 | Be it knowen vnto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye haue crucified, whome God raised againe from the dead, euen by him doth this man stand here before you, whole. |
| 4:11 | This is the stone cast aside of you builders which is become the head of the corner. |
| 4:12 | Neither is there saluation in any other: for among men there is giuen none other Name vnder heauen, whereby we must be saued. |
| 4:13 | Now when they sawe the boldnes of Peter and Iohn, and vnderstoode that they were vnlearned men and without knowledge, they marueiled, and knew them, that they had bin with Iesus: |
| 4:14 | And beholding also the man which was healed standing with them, they had nothing to say against it. |
| 4:15 | Then they commanded them to goe aside out of the Council, and conferred among themselues, |
| 4:16 | Saying, What shall we doe to these men? for surely a manifest signe is done by them, and it is openly knowen to all them that dwell in Hierusalem: and we cannot denie it. |
| 4:17 | But that it be noysed no farther among the people, let vs threaten and charge them, that they speake hencefoorth to no man in this Name. |
| 4:18 | So they called them, and commanded them, that in no wise they should speake or teach in the Name of Iesus. |
| 4:19 | But Peter and Iohn answered vnto them, and said, Whether it be right in the sight of God, to obey you rather then God, iudge ye. |
| 4:20 | For we cannot but speake the things which we haue seene and heard. |
| 4:21 | So they threatened them, and let them goe, and found nothing how to punish them, because of the people: for all men praised God for that which was done. |
| 4:22 | For the man was aboue fourtie yeeres olde, on whome this miracle of healing was shewed. |
| 4:23 | Then assoone as they were let goe, they came to their fellowes, and shewed all that the hie Priestes and Elders had said vnto them. |
| 4:24 | And when they heard it, they lift vp their voyces to God with one accord, and said, O Lord, thou art the God which hast made the heaue, and the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them, |
| 4:25 | Which by the mouth of thy seruant Dauid hast saide, Why did the Gentiles rage, and the people imagine vaine things? |
| 4:26 | The Kings of the earth assembled, and the rulers came together against the Lord, and against his Christ. |
| 4:27 | For doutlesse, against thine holy Sonne Iesus, whome thou haddest anoynted, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel gathered themselues together, |
| 4:28 | To doe whatsoeuer thine hand, and thy counsell had determined before to be done. |
| 4:29 | And nowe, O Lord, beholde their threatnings, and graunt vnto thy seruants with all boldnesse to speake thy word, |
| 4:30 | So that thou stretch forth thine hand, that healing, and signes, and wonders may be done by the Name of thine holy Sonne Iesus. |
| 4:31 | And when as they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together, and they were all filled with the holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God boldely. |
| 4:32 | And the multitude of them that beleeued, were of one heart, and of one soule: neither any of them said, that any thing of that which he possessed, was his owne, but they had all thinges common. |
| 4:33 | And with great power gaue the Apostles witnes of the resurrection of the Lord Iesus: and great grace was vpon them all. |
| 4:34 | Neither was there any among them, that lacked: for as many as were possessours of landes or houses, solde them, and brought the price of the things that were solde, |
| 4:35 | And layde it downe at the Apostles feete, and it was distributed vnto euery man, according as he had neede. |
| 4:36 | Also Ioses which was called of the Apostles, Barnabas (that is by interpretation the sonne of consolation) being a Leuite, and of the countrey of Cyprus, |
| 4:37 | Where as he had land, solde it, and brought the money, and laid it downe at the Apostles feete. |
| 4:1 | As they spake vnto the people the prestes and the rular of the teple and the Saduces came vpon them |
| 4:2 | takynge it grevously that they taught ye pople and preached in Iesus the resurreccion fro deeth. |
| 4:3 | And they layde hondes on them and put them in holde vntill the nexte daye: for it was now even tyde. |
| 4:4 | How be it many of them which hearde the wordes beleved and the noumbre of the men was aboute fyve thousande. |
| 4:5 | And it chaunsed on the morowe that their rulars and elders and Scribes |
| 4:6 | as Annas the chefe Prest and Cayphas and Iohn and Alexander and as many as were of ye kynred of the hye prestes gadered to geder at Ierusalem |
| 4:7 | and set the other before them and axed: by what power or what name have ye done this syrs? |
| 4:8 | Then Peter full of ye holy goost sayd vnto them: ye rulars of the people and elders of Israel |
| 4:9 | yf we this daye are examined of the good dede done to the sycke man by what meanes he is made whoale: |
| 4:10 | be yt knowen vnto you all and to the people of Israel that in the name of Iesus Christ of Nazareth whom ye crucified and whom God raysed agayne from deeth: even by him doth this man stonde here present before you whoale. |
| 4:11 | This is ye stone cast a syde of you bylders which is set in the chefe place of the corner. |
| 4:12 | Nether is ther salvacio in eny other. Nor yet also is ther eny other name geven to men wherin we must be saved. |
| 4:13 | When they sawe the boldnes of Peter and Iohn and vnderstode that they were vnlerned men and laye people they marveyled and they knew them that they were with Iesu: |
| 4:14 | and beholdinge also the ma which was healed stondinge with the they coulde not saye agaynst it. |
| 4:15 | But they comaunded them to go a syde out of the counsell and counceled amoge them selves |
| 4:16 | sayinge: what shall we do to these men? For a manifest signe is done by the and is openly knowen to all them that dwell in Ierusalem and we canot denye it. |
| 4:17 | But that it be noysed no farther amoge the people let us threaten and charge them that they speake hence forth to no man in this name. |
| 4:18 | And they called them and comaunded them that in no wyse they shuld speake or teache in the name of Iesu. |
| 4:19 | But Peter and Iohn answered vnto them and sayde: whether it be right in the syght of God to obeye you moare then God iudge ye. |
| 4:20 | For we canot but speake that which we have sene and hearde. |
| 4:21 | So threatened they them and let them goo and founde no thinge how to punysshe them because of the people. For all me lauded God for the myracle which was done: |
| 4:22 | for the man was above fourty yeare olde on whom this myracle of healinge was shewed. |
| 4:23 | Assone as they were let goo they came to their felowes and shewed all that the hye prestes and elders had sayde to them. |
| 4:24 | And when they hearde that they lyfte vp their voyces to God with one accorde and sayde: Lorde thou arte God which hast made heaven and erth the see and all that in them is |
| 4:25 | which by the mouth of thy servaunt David hast sayd: Why dyd the hethen rage and the people immagen vayne thinges. |
| 4:26 | The kynges of the erth stode vp and the rulars came to gedder agaynst the Lorde and agaynst his Christ. |
| 4:27 | For of a trueth agaynst thy holy chylde Iesus whom thou hast annoynted bothe Herode and also Poncius Pylate with the Gentils and the people of Israel gaddered them selves to gedder |
| 4:28 | for to do whatsoever thy honde and thy counsell determined before to be done. |
| 4:29 | And now Lorde beholde their threatenynges and graunte vnto thy servauntes with all confidence to speake thy worde. |
| 4:30 | So that thou stretche forth thy honde that healynge and signes and wonders be done by the name of thy holy chylde Iesus. |
| 4:31 | And assone as they had prayed the place moved wheare they were assembled to gedder and they were all filled with the holy goost and they spake the worde of God boldely. |
| 4:32 | And the multitude of them that beleved were of one hert and of one soule. Also none of them sayde that eny of the thinges which he possessed was his awne: but had all thinges commen. |
| 4:33 | And with greate power gave the Apostles witnes of the resurreccion of the Lorde Iesu. And greate grace was with them all. |
| 4:34 | Nether was ther eny amonge them that lacked. For as many as were possessers of londes or housses solde them and brought the pryce of the thinges that were solde |
| 4:35 | and layed yt doune at the Apostles fete. And distribucion was made vnto every man accordinge as he had nede. |
| 4:36 | And Ioses which was also called of the Apostles Barnabas (that is to saye the sonne of consolacion) beynge a Levite and of the countre of Cipers |
| 4:37 | had londe and solde it. and layde the pryce doune at the Apostles fete. |
