8:1	Saul had pleasure in hys death. And at the tyme ther was a great persecution agaynste the congregation, whiche was at Ierusalem, & they were all scattered abroade thorowout the regions of Iury & Samaria, excepte the Apostles.
8:2	Then deuout men dressed Stephan, & made great lamentation ouer hym.
8:3	But Saul made hauoke of the congregacion entring into euery house, and drewe oute bothe man and woman, and thruste them into prysone.
8:4	They that were scatered abroade, wente euery where preaching the word.
8:5	Then came Philyp into a cytye of Samarya, and preached Christe vnto them.
8:6	And the people gaue hede vnto those thinges, whiche Philippe spake, wyth one accord, in that they heard and sawe the miracles which he dyd.
8:7	For vncleane spyrites criynge with loude voyce, came out of manye that were possessed of them. And manye taken wyth palsyes, and manye that halted, were healed.
8:8	And ther was greate ioye in the citye.
8:9	And ther was a certaine man called Simon, which before tyme in the same citye, vsed wytchcraft and bewitched the people of Samarye, sayinge that he was a man that coulde do greate thinges.
8:10	Whom they regarded, from the lest to the greatest, saiyng: this felow is the great power of God.
8:11	And hym they set much by: because that of long tyme he had mocked them with sorcery.
8:12	But assone as they beleued Philippes preachinge of the kyngedome of God and of the name of Iesu Christe, they were baptysed both men and women.
8:13	Then Symon hym selfe beleued also, and was baptysed, and continued wyth Philip, and woundred beholdinge the miracles & signes whiche were shewed.
8:14	When the Apostles whiche were at Ierusalem hearde saye, that Samaria had receiued the word of God, they sente vnto them Peter and Iohn.
8:15	Whyche when they were come prayed for them that they myght receiue the holy ghost.
8:16	For as yet he was come on none of them, but they were baptysed onlye in the name of Christ Iesu.
8:17	Then laied they theyr handes on them & they receiued the holy ghost.
8:18	When Simon saw that thorow laiyng on of the Apostles handes on them, the holy ghoste was geuen, he offred them money
8:19	saiyng: Geue me also this power, that on whomsoeuer I put the handes, he may receiue the holy ghost.
8:20	Then sayd Peter vnto him: thy money perishe with the, because thou wenest that the gift of God maye be obteyned wt money.
8:21	Thou hast neither parte nor fellowshippe in thys busynes. For the hert is not ryght in the sight of God.
8:22	Repent therfore of this thy wyckednes, and praye God, that the thought of thyne herte maye be forgeuen the.
8:23	For I perceiue, that thou art full of bitter gal, & wrapped in iniquitie.
8:24	Then aunswered Simon, and said: praye ye to the Lord for me, that none of these thinges, which ye haue spoken fal on me.
8:25	And they when they had testified and preached the worde of the Lorde returned towarde Ierusalem, & preached the Gospel in manie cities of the Samaritans.
8:26	Then the aungel of the Lorde spake vnto Philippe, saiynge: aryse and go Southward vnto the way, that goeth doune from Ierusalem vnto Gaza, which is in the desert.
8:27	And he arose and wente on. And beholde a man of Ethiopia, whiche was a chamberlayne, and of greate auctorite with Candace quene of the Ethiopians, and had the rule of all her treasure, came to Hierusalem for to praye.
8:28	And as he returned home againe sittinge in hys charet, he reade Esay the prophete.
8:29	Then the spyrite sayed to Phylippe: God neare, and ioyne thy selfe to yonder charete.
8:30	And Philippe ranne to him, and hearde hym reade the Prophete Esaias and saied: Vnderstandeste thou what thou readeste?
8:31	And he saied: how can I excepte I had a gyde? And he desiered Philyp, that he woulde come vp and syt wyth hym.
8:32	The tenoure of the scripture whiche he reade, was thys. He was led as a shepe to be slaine, and lyke a Lambe dombe before his sherar, so opened he not his mouth:
8:33	Because of hys humblenes, he was not estemed: who shall declare hys generacyon? for his lyke is taken from the earth.
8:34	The chamberlayne aunswered Phylippe, and sayed: I pray the of whom speaketh the Prophete this? of him selfe, or of some other man?
8:35	And Philippe opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached vnto him Iesus.
8:36	And as they wente on their waye, they came vnto a certaine water, and the chamberlaine sayed: Se here is water, what shall let me to be baptysed?
8:37	Philyp saide vnto him: If thou beleue with all thyne herte, thou maieste. He aunswered and saied, I beleue that Iesus Christe is the sonne of God.
8:38	And he commaunded the charete to stande styll. And they went doune both into the water: both Philippe and also the chamberlayne, and he baptysed him.
8:39	And assone as they were come out of the water, the spyryte of the Lorde caught awaye Phylip, that the chamberlayne sawe him no more. And he went on his waie reioysinge:
8:40	but Philippe was found at Azotus. And he walked thorow out the countrie preachynge in theyr cytyes, tyll he came to Cesarea.

8:2	Then certaine men fearing God, caried Steuen amongs them, to be buried, and made great lamentation for him.
8:3	But Saul made hauocke of the Church, and entred into euery house, and drewe out both men and women, and put them into prison.
8:4	Therefore they that were scattered abroad, went to and from preaching the worde.
8:5	Then came Philip into the citie of Samaria, and preached Christ vnto them.
8:6	And the people gaue heed vnto those things which Philippe spake, with one accorde, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
8:7	For vncleane spirits crying with a loud voyce, came out of many that were possessed of them: and many taken with palsies, and that halted, were healed.
8:8	And there was great ioy in that citie.
8:9	And there was before in the citie a certaine man called Simon, which vsed witchcraft, and bewitched the people of Samaria, saying that he himselfe was some great man.
8:10	To whome they gaue heede from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is that great power of God.
8:11	And they gaue heed vnto him, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
8:12	But assoone as they beleeued Philip, which preached the thinges that concerned the kingdome of God, and the Name of Iesus Christ, they were baptized both men and women.
8:13	Then Simon himselfe beleeued also and was baptized, and continued with Philippe, and wondred, when he sawe the signes and great miracles which were done.
8:14	Nowe when the Apostles, which were at Hierusalem, heard say, that Samaria had receiued the worde of God, they sent vnto them Peter and Iohn.
8:15	Which whe they were come downe, prayed for them, that they might receiue the holy Ghost.
8:16	(For as yet, hee was fallen downe on none of them, but they were baptized onely in the Name of the Lord Iesus.)
8:17	Then layd they their handes on them, and they receiued the holy Ghost.
8:18	And when Simon sawe, that through laying on of the Apostles hands the holy Ghost was giuen, he offred them money,
8:19	Saying, Giue mee also this power, that on whomsoeuer I lay the handes, he may receiue the holy Ghost.
8:20	Then saide Peter vnto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou thinkest that the gift of God may be obteined with money.
8:21	Thou hast neither part nor fellowship in this businesse: for thine heart is not right in the sight of God.
8:22	Repent therefore of this thy wickednes, and pray God, that if it be possible, the thought of thine heart may be forgiuen thee.
8:23	For I see that thou art in the gall of bitternes, and in the bonde of iniquitie.
8:24	Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye haue spoken, come vpon me.
8:25	So they, when they had testified and preached the worde of the Lord, returned to Hierusalem, and preached the Gospel in many townes of the Samaritans.
8:26	Then the Angel of the Lord spake vnto Philip, saying, Arise, and goe towarde the South vnto the way that goeth downe from Hierusalem vnto Gaza, which is waste.
8:27	And hee arose and went on: and beholde, a certaine Eunuche of Ethiopia, Candaces the Queene of the Ethiopians chiefe Gouernour, who had the rule of all her treasure, and came to Hierusalem to worship:
8:28	And as he returned sitting in his charet, he read Esaias the Prophet.
8:29	Then the Spirit said vnto Philip, Goe neere and ioyne thy selfe to yonder charet.
8:30	And Philip ranne thither, and heard him reade the Prophet Esaias, and said, But vnderstandest thou what thou readest?
8:31	And he saide, Howe can I, except I had a guide? And he desired Philip, that he would come vp and sit with him.
8:32	Nowe the place of the Scripture which he read, was this, Hee was lead as a sheepe to the slaughter: and like a lambe domme before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth.
8:33	In his humilitie his iudgement hath bene exalted: but who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
8:34	Then the Eunuche answered Philippe, and saide, I pray thee of whome speaketh the Prophet this? of himselfe, or of some other man?
8:35	Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same Scripture, and preached vnto him Iesus.
8:36	And as they went on their way, they came vnto a certaine water, and the Eunuche said, See, here is water: what doeth let me to be baptized?
8:37	And Philippe said vnto him, If thou beleeuest with all thine heart, thou mayest. Then he answered, and saide, I beleeue that that Iesus Christ is that Sonne of God.
8:38	Then he commanded the charet to stand stil: and they went downe both into the water, both Philip and the Eunuche, and he baptized him.
8:39	And assoone as they were come vp out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the Eunuche sawe him no more: so he went on his way reioycing.
8:40	But Philippe was found at Azotus, and he walked to and from preaching in all the cities, till he came to Cesarea.

8:4	Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
8:5	Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
8:6	And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
8:7	For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8:8	And there was great joy in that city.
8:9	But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
8:10	To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
8:11	And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
8:12	But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
8:13	Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
8:14	Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
8:15	Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
8:16	(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
8:17	Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
8:18	And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
8:19	Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
8:20	But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
8:21	Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
8:22	Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
8:23	For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
8:24	Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
8:25	And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
8:26	And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
8:27	And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
8:28	Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
8:29	Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
8:30	And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
8:31	And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
8:32	The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

8:38	And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
8:39	And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
8:40	But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
