10:1	There was a certen man in Cesarea called Cornelius, a captayn of the soudyers of Italy,
10:2	a deuote man, & one that feared God with all hys housholde, which gaue moch almes to the people, and prayde God all waye.
10:3	The same sawe by a vision euidently (about the ninth houre of the daye) an angel of God commynge into him, and sayinge vnto him: Cornelius?
10:4	When he loked on hym, he was afrayde, and sayd: what is it Lorde? He sayde vnto him: Thy prayers & thy almeses are come vp into remembraunce before God.
10:5	And now sende men to Ioppa, & call for one Symon, whose syrname is Peter.
10:6	He lodgeth wt one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the see syde. He shall tell the, what thou oughtest to do.
10:7	And when the angell which spake vnto hym, was departed, he called two of hys housholde seruauntes, and a deuoute soudier of them that wayted on him,
10:8	and tolde them all the matter, and sent them to Ioppa.
10:9	On the morowe as they went on their iorney, and drewe ny vnto the cytie, Peter went vp vpon the toppe of the house to praye, about the syxt houre.
10:10	And when he wexed an hongred, he wolde haue eaten. But whyle they made ready, he fell into a traunce,
10:11	and sawe, heauen opened, and a certen vessell come downe vnto hym, as it had bene a great shete, knyt at the foure corners, and was let downe to the earth,
10:12	wherin were all maner of fourfoted beastes of the earth, & vermen and wormes & foules of the ayer.
10:13	And ther came a voyce to him, rise Peter, kyl & eate.
10:14	But Peter sayd: not so Lorde, for I haue neuer eaten eny thinge that is commen or vncleane.
10:15	And the voyce spake vnto him agayne the second tyme: what God hath clensed, that call not thou commen.
10:16	This was done threse, and the vessell was receaued vp agayne into heauen.
10:17	Whyle Peter also mused in him self what thys visyon (which he had sene) meant: beholde, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquirance for Simons house, and stode before the dore:
10:18	and called out one, and asked whether Simon which was syrnamed Peter were lodged there.
10:19	Whyle Peter thought on the visyon, the sprete sayd vnto him: behold, men seke the:
10:20	aryse therfore, and get the downe, & go with them, & dowte not for I haue sent them.
10:21	Peter went downe to the men which were sent vnto hym from Cornelius and sayd: Behold, I am he whom ye seke, what is the cause wherfore ye are come?
10:22	They sayd: Cornelius the captayne a iust man, and one that feareth God, & of good reporte amonge all the people of the Iewes, was warned by an holy angell to sende for the into his house, & to heare wordes of the.
10:23	Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morowe, Peter went awaye with them, and certayn brethren from Ioppa accompanyed hym.
10:24	And the thyrde daye entred they into Cesarea. And Cornelius wayted for them, and had called togeather hys kynsmen, and speciall frendes.
10:25	And as it chaunsed Peter to come in, Cornelius mete hym, and fell downe at hys fete, & worshypped hym.
10:26	But Peter toke hym vp, sayinge: stande vp, I my selfe also am a man.
10:27	And as he talked with him, he came in, and founde many that were come together.
10:28	And he sayde vnto them: Ye knowe how that it is a vnlawful thinge for a man that is a Iewe, to company or come vnto an alient: but God hath shewed me, that I shulde not call any man commen or vncleane:
10:29	therfore came I vnto you without delaye, assone as I was sent for. I aske therfore, for what intent haue ye sent for me.
10:30	And Cornelius sayd: This daye now .iiij. dayes about this houre, I sat fasting, and at the nynthe houre I prayde in my house: and behold, a man stode before me in bryght clothynge,
10:31	and sayde: Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thyne almes dedes are had in remembraunce in the syght of God.
10:32	Sende men therfore to go to Ioppa, and call for Symon, whose syrname is Peter. He is lodged in the house of one Symon a tanner by the see syde: which assone as he is come, shall speake vnto the.
10:33	Then sent I for the immediatly, & thou hast well downe, that thou art come. Nowe therfore are we all here present before God, to heare all thinges that are commaunded vnto the of God.
10:34	Then Peter opened his mouth, and sayde: Of a treuth I perceaue that there is no respect of persones with God,
10:35	but in all people, he that feareth hym, and worketh ryghtewesnes, is accepted with him.
10:36	Ye knowe the preachynge that God sent vnto the children of Israel, preachyng peace by Iesu Christ, which is Lord ouer all thynges.
10:37	Which preachynge was publisshed thorowout all Iewry (and began in Galile, after the baptyme which Iohn preached)
10:38	how God anoynted Iesus of Nazareth wt the holy ghost, and with power. Which Iesus went about doynge good, and healynge all that were oppressed of the deuyll, for God was with him.
10:39	And we are witnes of all thinges which he dyd in the lande of the Iewes and at Ierusalem: whom they slewe, and hanged on tre.
10:40	Him God raysed vp the thyrd daye, & shewed him openly,
10:41	not to all the people, but vnto vs witnesses (chosen before of God for the same intent) which dyd eate & dryncke wt him, after he arose from deeth.
10:42	And he commaunded vs to preach vnto the people, and to testify that it is he, which was ordened of God to be the iudge of quycke and deed.
10:43	To hym geue all the prophetes witnes, that thorowe hys name whosoeuer beleueth in him, shall receaue remissyon of synnes.
10:44	Whyle Peter yet spake these wordes, the holy ghost fell on all them which heard the preachyng.
10:45	And they of the circumcisyon which beleued, were astonnied, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentils also was shed out the gyft of the holy ghost.
10:46	For they hearde them speake with tonges, & magnify God. Then answered Peter:
10:47	can eny man forbyd water, that these shuld not be baptysed, which haue receaued the holy ghost as well as we?
10:48	And he commaunded them to be baptysed in the name of the Lord. Then prayd they him, to tary a few dayes.

10:6	This is herborid at a man Symount, curiour, whos hous is bisidis the see. This schal seie to thee, what it bihoueth thee to do.
10:7	And whanne the aungel that spak to hym, was gon awei, he clepide twei men of his hous, and a knyyt that dredde the Lord, whiche weren at his bidding.
10:8	And whanne he hadde told hem alle these thingis, he sente hem in to Joppe.
10:9	And on the dai suynge, while thei maden iournei, and neiyeden to the citee, Petre wente vp in to the hiest place of the hous to preie, aboute the sixte our.
10:10	And whanne he was hungrid, he wolde haue ete. But while thei maden redi, a rauysching of spirit felde on hym;
10:11	and he say heuene openyd, and a vessel comynge doun, as a greet scheet with foure corneris, to be lette doun fro heuene in to erthe,
10:12	in which weren alle foure footid beestis, and crepinge of the erthe, and volatilis of heuene.
10:13	And a vois was maad to hym, Rise thou, Petre, and sle, and ete.
10:14	And Petre seide, Lord, forbede, for Y neuer ete ony comun thing and vnclene.
10:15	And eft the secounde tyme the vois was maad to him, That thing that God hath clensid, seye thou not vnclene.
10:16	And this thing was don bi thries; and anoon the vessel was resseyued ayen.
10:17	And while that Petre doutide with ynne hym silf, what the visioun was that he say, lo! the men, that weren sent fro Corneli, souyten the hous of Symount, and stoden at the yate.
10:18	And whanne thei hadden clepid, thei axiden if Symount, that is named Petre, hadde there herbore.
10:19	And while Petre thouyte on the visioun, the spirit seide to hym, Lo! thre men seken thee.
10:20	Therfor ryse thou, and go doun, and go with hem, and doute thou no thing, for Y sente hem.
10:21	And Petre cam doun to the men, and seide, Lo! Y am, whom ye seken; what is the cause, for which ye ben come?
10:22	And thei seiden, Cornelie, the centurien, a iust man, and dredinge God, and hath good witnessyng of alle the folc of Jewis, took aunswere of an hooli aungel, to clepe thee in to his hous, and to here wordis of thee.
10:23	Therfor he ledde hem inne, and resseyuede in herbore; and that nyyt thei dwelliden with hym. And in the dai suynge he roos, and wente forth with hem; and sum of the britheren folewiden hym fro Joppe, that thei be witnessis to Petre.
10:24	And the other dai he entride in to Cesarie. And Cornelie abood hem, with hise cousyns, and necessarie freendis, that weren clepid togidere.
10:25	And it was don, whanne Petre was come ynne, Corneli cam metynge hym, and felle doun at hise feet, and worschipide him.
10:26	But Petre reiside hym, and seide, Aryse thou, also Y my silf am a man, as thou.
10:27	And he spak with hym, and wente in, and foonde many that weren come togidere.
10:28	And he seide to hem, Ye witen, how abhomynable it is to a Jewe, to be ioyned ether to come to an alien; but God schewide to me, that no man seye a man comyn, ethir vnclene.
10:29	For which thing Y cam, whanne Y was clepid, with out douting. Therfor Y axe you, for what cause han ye clepid me?
10:30	And Cornelie seide, To dai foure daies in to this our, Y was preiynge and fastynge in the nynthe our in myn hous. And lo! a man stood bifore me in a whijt cloth, and seide,
10:31	Cornelie, thi preier is herd, and thin almesdedis ben in mynde in the siyt of God.
10:32	Therfor sende thou in to Joppe, and clepe Symount, that is named Petre; this is herborid in the hous of Symount coriour, bisidis the see. This, whanne he schal come, schal speke to thee.
10:33	Therfor anoon Y sente to thee, and thou didist wel in comynge to vs. `Now therfor we alle ben present in thi siyt, to here the wordis, what euer ben comaundid to thee of the Lord.
10:34	And Petre openyde his mouth, and seide, In trewthe Y haue foundun, that God is no acceptor of persoones;
10:35	but in eche folk he that dredith God, and worchith riytwisnesse, is accept to hym.
10:36	God sente a word to the children of Israel, schewinge pees bi Jhesu Crist; this is Lord of alle thingis.
10:37	Ye witen the word that is maad thorou al Judee, and bigan at Galile, aftir the baptym that Joon prechide, Jhesu of Nazareth;
10:38	hou God anoyntide hym with the Hooli Goost, and vertu; which passide forth in doynge wel, and heelynge alle men oppressid of the deuel, for God was with hym.
10:39	And we ben witnessis of alle thingis, whiche he dide in the cuntrei of Jewis, and of Jerusalem; whom thei slowen, hangynge in a tre.
10:40	And God reiside this in the thridde dai, and yaf hym to be maad knowun,
10:41	not to al puple, but to witnessis bifor ordeyned of God; to vs that eeten and drunken with hym, after that he roos ayen fro deth.
10:42	And he comaundide to vs to preche to the puple, and to witnesse, that he it is, that is ordeyned of God domesman of the quyk and of deede.
10:43	To this alle prophetis beren witnessing, that alle men that bileuen in hym, schulen resseyue remyssioun of synnes bi his name.
10:44	And yit while that Petre spak these wordis, the Hooli Goost felde on alle that herden the word.
10:45	And the feithful men of circumcisioun, that camen with Petre, wondriden, that also in to naciouns the grace of the Hooli Goost is sched out.
10:46	For thei herden hem spekynge in langagis, and magnyfiynge God.
10:47	Thanne Petre answeride, Whether ony man may forbede watir, that these ben not baptisid, that han also resseyued the Hooli Goost as we?
10:48	And he comaundide hem to be baptisid in the name of the Lord Jhesu Crist. Thanne thei preieden hym, that he schulde dwelle with hem sum daies.

10:9	On the nexte daye after whan these were goinge on their iourney, and came nye vnto the cite, Peter wente vp in to a chamber to praye aboute the sixte houre.
10:10	And whan he was hogrie, he wolde haue eate. But whyle they made ready for him, he fell into a traunce,
10:11	and sawe heaue open, and a vessell comynge downe vnto him, as it had bene a greate lynne clothe, knytt at the foure corners, and was let downe to ye earth,
10:12	wherin were all maner of foure foted beestes of the earth, & wylde beestes, and wormes, and foules of the ayre.
10:13	And there came a voyce vnto him: Ryse Peter, slaye, & eate.
10:14	But Peter sayde: Oh no, LORDE, for I neuer ate eny commen or vncleane thinge.
10:15	And the voyce spake vnto him agayne ye secode tyme: What God hath clensed, yt make not thou vncleane.
10:16	This was done thryse. And ye vessell was receaued vp agayne in to heauen.
10:17	But whyle Peter was combred in him selfe, what maner of vision this shulde be which he had sene, beholde, the men yt were sent from Cornelius, enquered after Simos house, and stode before the dore,
10:18	and called, and axed whether Simon (whose syrname was Peter) were lodged there.
10:19	Whyle Peter was musinge of the vision, the sprete sayde vnto him:beholde, the men seke the.
10:20	Aryse therfore, and get the downe, & go with the, and doute not, for I haue sent them.
10:21	Then wente Peter downe to the men, yt were sent vnto him from Cornelius, and sayde: lo, I am he whom ye seke: what is ye cause, wherfore ye are come?

10:25	And as it chaunced yt Peter came in, Cornelius mett him, and fell downe at his fete, & worshipped him.
10:26	But Peter toke him vp, and sayde: Stonde vp, I am a man also.
10:27	And as he talked wt him, he wente in, and founde many that were come together,
10:28	and he sayde vnto them: Ye knowe, that it is not laufull for a man beynge a Iewe to ioyne him selfe or to come to a straunger. But God hath shewed me, yt I shulde call no ma comen or vncleane.
10:29	Therfore haue I not douted to come, as soone as I was sent for. I axe you therfore, for what intent haue ye sent for me?
10:30	Cornelius sayde: It is now foure dayes agoo, then fasted I, and at the nyenth houre I prayed in my house, and beholde, there stode a ma before me in a bryghte clothinge,
10:31	and sayde: Cornelius, yi prayer is herde, and thine allmesse dedes are had in remebraunce iu the sighte of God.
10:32	Sende therfore to Ioppa, and call for one Simon (whose syrname is Peter) which is at lodginge in ye house of Simon ye taner, by the see syde: ye same wha he commeth, shal speake vnto ye.
10:33	Then sent I vnto the immediatly, and thou hast done well, that thou art come. Now are we all here presente before God, to heare all thinges that are commaunded the of God.
10:34	Peter opened his mouth, & sayde: Now perceaue I of a trueth, that God hath no respecte of personnes,
10:35	but in all people he yt feareth him, and worketh righteousnes, is accepted vnto him.
10:36	Ye knowe of ye preachinge that God sent vnto the children of Israel, preachinge thorow Iesus Christ (which is LORDE ouer all)
10:37	which preachinge was published thorow out all Iewry, and begane in Galile after ye baptyme that Ihon preached,
10:38	how God anoynted the same Iesus of Nazareth with the holy goost and wt power, which wente aboute, & dyd good, and healed all those that were oppressed of the deuell, for God was with him.
10:39	And we are witnesses of all that he dyd in the londe of the Iewes, & at Ierusalem. Whom they slewe, and hanged on tre.
10:40	Him God raysed vp on the thirde daye, and caused him be openly shewed,
10:41	not to all the people, but to ye chosen witnesses of God euen vnto vs, which ate & dronke with him, after he was rysen vp from the deed.
10:42	And he commaunded vs to preach vnto the people, and to testifye, that it is he which is ordeyned of God a iudge of the lyuynge and of the deed.
10:43	Of him beare all the prophetes wytnesse, that thorow his name all they yt beleue in him, shal receaue remyssion of synnes.
10:44	Whyle Peter was yet speakynge these wordes, the holy goost fell vpo all the that herkened vnto the worde.
10:45	And the faithfull of the circucision which came with Peter, were astonnyed, because that the gifte of ye holy goost was shed out also vpon the Heythen.
10:46	For they herde that they spake with tunges, and magnified God. The answered Peter:
10:47	Maye eny man forbydde water, that these shulde not be baptysed, which haue receaued the holy goost as well as we?
10:48	And he commaunded them to be baptysed in the name of the LORDE. The prayed they him, that he wolde tary there certayne dayes.
