Acts - Chapter: 11

>
11:1Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
11:2And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those who were of the circumcision contended with him,
11:3saying, "You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!"
11:4But Peter explained the issue from the beginning, describing it to them in sequence, saying:
11:5"I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending just like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.
11:6On which, when I observed it intently and considered, I saw four footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.
11:7And I heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Peter; kill and eat.'"
11:8But I said, 'Not so, Lord! Because nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.'
11:9But the voice replied to me again from heaven, 'What God has cleansed you must not call that common.'"
11:10Now this was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11:11And, behold, immediately there were three men already standing before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.
11:12Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man's house.
11:13And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, 'Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter,
11:14who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.'
11:15And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.
11:16Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, 'John indeed baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.'"
11:17If therefore God gave them the same gift as He did to us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?"
11:18When they heard these things they held their peace; and they glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."
11:19Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only.
11:20But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.
11:21And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
11:22Then news of these things came to the ears of the church that was in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch.
11:23Who when he came and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.
11:24Because, he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And many people were added to the Lord.
11:25Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek for Saul.
11:26And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for an entire year they assembled with the church and taught many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
11:27And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.
11:28Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and signified by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which occurred in the days of Claudius Caesar.
11:29Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.
11:30This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

11:1Nowe the Apostles and the brethren that were in Iudea, heard, that the Gentiles had also receiued the worde of God.
11:2And when Peter was come vp to Hierusalem, they of the circumcision contended against him,
11:3Saying, Thou wentest in to men vncircumcised, and hast eaten with them.
11:4Then Peter beganne, and expounded the thing in order to them, saying,
11:5I was in the citie of Ioppa, praying, and in a trance I sawe this vision, A certaine vessell comming downe as it had bene a great sheete, let downe from heauen by the foure corners, and it came to me.
11:6Towarde the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and sawe foure footed beastes of the earth, and wilde beastes, and creeping things, and foules of the heauen.
11:7Also I heard a voyce, saying vnto me, Arise, Peter: slay and eate.
11:8And I said, God forbid, Lord: for nothing polluted or vncleane hath at any time entred into my mouth.
11:9But the voyce answered me the seconde time from heauen, The things that God hath purified, pollute thou not.
11:10And this was done three times, and all were taken vp againe into heauen.
11:11Then behold, immediatly there were three men already come vnto the house where I was, sent from Cesarea vnto me.
11:12And the Spirit saide vnto me, that I should go with them, without doubting: moreouer these sixe brethren came with me, and we entred into the mans house.
11:13And he shewed vs, howe he had seene an Angel in his house, which stoode and said to him, Send men to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter.
11:14He shall speake wordes vnto thee, whereby both thou and all thine house shalbe saued.
11:15And as I began to speake, the holy Ghost fell on them, euen as vpon vs at the beginning.
11:16Then I remembred the word of the Lord, howe he said, Iohn baptized with water, but ye shalbe baptized with the holy Ghost.
11:17For as much then as God gaue them a like gift, as he did vnto vs, when we beleeued in the Lord Iesus Christ, who was I, that I coulde let God?
11:18When they heard these things, they helde their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles graunted repentance vnto life.
11:19And they which were scattered abroade because of the affliction that arose about Steuen, went throughout till they came vnto Phenice and Cyprus, and Antiochia, preaching the worde to no man, but vnto the Iewes onely.
11:20Now some of them were men of Cyprus and of Cyrene, which when they were come into Antiochia, spake vnto the Grecians, and preached the Lord Iesus.
11:21And the hand of the Lord was with them, so that a great number beleeued and turned vnto the Lord.
11:22Then tydings of those things came vnto the eares of the Church, which was in Hierusalem, and they sent foorth Barnabas, that he should goe vnto Antiochia.
11:23Who when he was come and had seene the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted all, that with purpose of heart they would continue in the Lord.
11:24For he was a good man, and full of the holy Ghost, and faith, and much people ioyned them selues vnto the Lord.
11:25Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus to seeke Saul:
11:26And when he had founde him, he brought him vnto Antiochia: and it came to passe that a whole yere they were conuersant with ye Church, and taught much people, in so much that the disciples were first called Christians in Antiochia.
11:27In those dayes also came Prophets from Hierusalem vnto Antiochia.
11:28And there stoode vp one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit, that there should be great famine throughout all the world, which also came to passe vnder Claudius Cesar.
11:29Then the disciples, euery man according to his ability, purposed to sende succour vnto the brethren which dwelt in Iudea.
11:30Which thing they also did, and sent it to the Elders, by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

11:1And the Apostles and the brethren that were thorowout Iewry harde saye that the hethen had also receaved the worde of God.
11:2And when Peter was come vp to Ierusalem they of the circumcision reasoned wyth him
11:3sayinge: Thou wentest in to men vncircumcised and atest with them.
11:4Then Peter began and expounded ye thinge in order to the sayinge:
11:5I was in the cyte of Ioppa prayinge and in a traunce I sawe a vision a certen vessell descende as it had bene a large lynnyn clothe let doune from hevin by the fower corners and it cam to me.
11:6Into the which when I had fastened myn eyes I consydered and sawe fowerfoted beastes of ye erth and vermen and wormes and foules of the ayer.
11:7And I herde a voyce sayinge vnto me: aryse Peter sley and eate.
11:8And I sayd: God forbyd lorde for nothinge comen or vnclene hath at eny tyme entred into my mouth.
11:9But the voyce answered me agayne from heven cout not thou those thinges come which god hath clensed.
11:10And this was done thre tymes. And all were takin vp agayne into heven.
11:11And beholde immediatly ther were thre men come vnto the housse where I was sent from Cesarea vnto me.
11:12And the sprete sayde vnto me that I shuld go with them with out doutinge. Morover the sixe brethren accompanyed me: and we entred into the mas housse.
11:13And he shewed vs how he had sene an angell in his housse which stod and sayde to him: Send men to Ioppa and call for Symon named also Peter:
11:14he shall tell the wordes wherby both thou and all thyne housse shalbe saved.
11:15And as I begane to preach ye holy goost fell on them as he dyd on vs at the begynninge.
11:16Then came to my remembrauce ye wordes of the Lorde how he sayde: Iohn baptised with water but ye shalbe baptysed with the holy goost.
11:17For as moche then as God gave the lyke gyftes as he dyd vnto vs when we beleved on the Lorde Iesus Christ: what was I that I shuld have with stonde God?
11:18when they hearde this they helde their peace and gloryfied God sayinge: then hath God also to the gentyls graunted repentaunce vnto lyfe.
