Acts - Chapter: 11

>
11:1And the apostles and the brethren who are in Judea heard that also the nations did receive the word of God,
11:2and when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision were contending with him,
11:3saying -- `Unto men uncircumcised thou didst go in, and didst eat with them!'
11:4And Peter having begun, did expound to them in order saying,
11:5`I was in the city of Joppa praying, and I saw in a trance a vision, a certain vessel coming down, as a great sheet by four corners being let down out of the heaven, and it came unto me;
11:6at which having looked stedfastly, I was considering, and I saw the four-footed beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowls of heaven;
11:7and I heard a voice saying to me, Having risen, Peter, slay and eat;
11:8and I said, Not so, Lord; because anything common or unclean hath at no time entered into my mouth;
11:9and a voice did answer me a second time out of the heaven, What God did cleanse, thou -- declare not thou common.
11:10`And this happened thrice, and again was all drawn up to the heaven,
11:11and, lo, immediately, three men stood at the house in which I was, having been sent from Cesarea unto me,
11:12and the Spirit said to me to go with them, nothing doubting, and these six brethren also went with me, and we did enter into the house of the man,
11:13he declared also to us how he saw the messenger in his house standing, and saying to him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, who is surnamed Peter,
11:14who shall speak sayings by which thou shalt be saved, thou and all thy house.
11:15`And in my beginning to speak, the Holy Spirit did fall upon them, even as also upon us in the beginning,
11:16and I remembered the saying of the Lord, how he said, John indeed did baptize with water, and ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit;
11:17if then the equal gift God did give to them as also to us, having believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, I -- how was I able to withstand God?'
11:18And they, having heard these things, were silent, and were glorifying God, saying, `Then, indeed, also to the nations did God give the reformation to life.'
11:19Those, indeed, therefore, having been scattered abroad, from the tribulation that came after Stephen, went through unto Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to none except to Jews only;
11:20and there were certain of them men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who having entered into Antioch, were speaking unto the Hellenists, proclaiming good news -- the Lord Jesus,
11:21and the hand of the Lord was with them, a great number also, having believed, did turn unto the Lord.
11:22And the account was heard in the ears of the assembly that `is' in Jerusalem concerning them, and they sent forth Barnabas to go through unto Antioch,
11:23who, having come, and having seen the grace of God, was glad, and was exhorting all with purpose of heart to cleave to the Lord,
11:24because he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit, and of faith, and a great multitude was added to the Lord.
11:25And Barnabas went forth to Tarsus, to seek for Saul,
11:26and having found him, he brought him to Antioch, and it came to pass that they a whole year did assemble together in the assembly, and taught a great multitude, the disciples also were divinely called first in Antioch Christians.
11:27And in those days there came from Jerusalem prophets to Antioch,
11:28and one of them, by name Agabus, having stood up, did signify through the Spirit a great dearth is about to be throughout all the world -- which also came to pass in the time of Claudius Caesar --
11:29and the disciples, according as any one was prospering, determined each of them to send for ministration to the brethren dwelling in Judea,
11:30which also they did, having sent unto the elders by the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

11:1And the Apostles and the brethren that were thorowout Iewry harde saye that the hethen had also receaved the worde of God.
11:2And when Peter was come vp to Ierusalem they of the circumcision reasoned wyth him
11:3sayinge: Thou wentest in to men vncircumcised and atest with them.
11:4Then Peter began and expounded ye thinge in order to the sayinge:
11:5I was in the cyte of Ioppa prayinge and in a traunce I sawe a vision a certen vessell descende as it had bene a large lynnyn clothe let doune from hevin by the fower corners and it cam to me.
11:6Into the which when I had fastened myn eyes I consydered and sawe fowerfoted beastes of ye erth and vermen and wormes and foules of the ayer.
11:7And I herde a voyce sayinge vnto me: aryse Peter sley and eate.
11:8And I sayd: God forbyd lorde for nothinge comen or vnclene hath at eny tyme entred into my mouth.
11:9But the voyce answered me agayne from heven cout not thou those thinges come which god hath clensed.
11:10And this was done thre tymes. And all were takin vp agayne into heven.
11:11And beholde immediatly ther were thre men come vnto the housse where I was sent from Cesarea vnto me.
11:12And the sprete sayde vnto me that I shuld go with them with out doutinge. Morover the sixe brethren accompanyed me: and we entred into the mas housse.
11:13And he shewed vs how he had sene an angell in his housse which stod and sayde to him: Send men to Ioppa and call for Symon named also Peter:
11:14he shall tell the wordes wherby both thou and all thyne housse shalbe saved.
11:15And as I begane to preach ye holy goost fell on them as he dyd on vs at the begynninge.
11:16Then came to my remembrauce ye wordes of the Lorde how he sayde: Iohn baptised with water but ye shalbe baptysed with the holy goost.
11:17For as moche then as God gave the lyke gyftes as he dyd vnto vs when we beleved on the Lorde Iesus Christ: what was I that I shuld have with stonde God?
11:18when they hearde this they helde their peace and gloryfied God sayinge: then hath God also to the gentyls graunted repentaunce vnto lyfe.
11:19They which were scattryd abroade thorow the affliccion that arose aboute Steven walked thorow oute tyll they came vnto Phenices and Cypers and Antioche preachynge ye worde to no man but vnto the Iewes only.
11:20Some of them were men of Cypers and Syrene which when they were come into Antioche spake vnto the Grekes and preched the Lorde Iesus.
11:21And the honde of the Lorde was with them and a greate nombre beleved and turned vnto the Lorde.
11:22Tydinges of these thinges came vnto ye eares of the congregacion which was in Ierusalem. And they sente forth Barnabas that he shuld go vnto Antioche.
11:23Which when he was come and had sene the grace of God was glad and exhorted them all that with purpose of hert they wolde continually cleave vnto ye Lorde.
11:24For he was a good man and full of the holy goost and of faythe: and moche people was added vnto the Lorde.
11:25Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus for to seke Saul.
11:26And when he had founde him he brought him vnto Antioche. And it chaunsed yt a whole yere they had their conversacion with the congregacio there and taught moche people: in so moche that the disciples of Antioche were the fyrst that were called Christen.
11:27In those dayes came Prophetes fro Ierusalem vnto Antioche.
11:28And ther stode vp one of them named Agabus and signified by the sprete that ther shuld be great derth throughoute all the worlde which came to passe in ye Emproure Claudius dayes.
11:29Then the disciples every man accordinge to his abilite purposed to sende socoure vnto the brethren which dwelt in Iewry.
11:30Which thinge they also dyd and sent it to the elders by the hondes of Barnabas and Saul.

11:1The Apostles and the brethren that were in Iewrye, herde saye, that the Heythen also had receaued the worde of God.
11:2And whan Peter was come vp to Ierusalem, they that were of the circucision, chode with him,
11:3and sayde: Thou wentest in to men that are vncircumcysed, and hast eaten with them.
11:4But Peter beganne, and expounded the thinge in order vnto the and sayde:
11:5I was in ye cite of Ioppa prayege, and in a traunce I sawe a vision, a vessell commynge downe, as it had bene a greate lynnen clothe with foure corners, and let downe from heauen, and came vnto me.
11:6Into the which I loked, and considered, and sawe foure foted beestes of the earth, and wylde beestes, and wormes, and foules of the ayre.
11:7And I herde a voyce, which sayde vnto me: Ryse Peter, slaye, & eate.
11:8But I sayde: Oh no, LORDE, for there neuer entred eny commen or vncleane thinge in to my mouth.
11:9Neuertheles the voyce answered me agayne from heauen: What God hath clensed, that call not thou vncleane.
11:10This was done thre tymes, and all was taken vp agayne in to heauen.
11:11And beholde, immediatly stode there thre men before the dore of the house that I was in, sent from Cesarea vnto me.
11:12But the sprete sayde vnto me, that I shulde go with the and doute nothinge. These sixe brethre also came with me, and we entred in to the mas house.
11:13And he shewed vs, how he had sene an angell stondinge in his house, which sayde vnto him: Sende men to Ioppa, and call for Simon (whose syrname is Peter)
11:14he shal tell ye wordes, wherby thou and all thy house shal be saued.
11:15But whan I beganne to speake, the holy goost fell vpo them, like as vpon vs at ye begynnynge.
11:16Then thoughte I vpon the worde of the LORDE, how he sayde: Ihon baptysed with water, but ye shalbe baptysed with ye holy goost.
11:17For as moch then as God hath geuen them like giftes, as vnto vs, which beleue on the LORDE Iesus Christ, who was I, that I shulde be able to withstode God?
11:18Whan they herde this, they helde their peace, and praysed God, and sayde: Then hath God also to the Heithen graunted repentaunce vnto life.
11:19They that were scatred abrode thorow ye trouble yt rose aboute Steuen, walked on euerysyde vntyll Phenices, and Cipers, and Antioche, and spake the worde vnto no man but onely vnto ye Iewes.
11:20Neuertheles some of the were men of Cipers and Cyren, which came to Antioche, and spake also vnto the Grekes, & preached the Gospell of the LORDE Iesu.
11:21And ye hande of the LORDE was with the. And a greate nombre beleued, and turned vnto the LORDE.
11:22This tydinges of them came to ye eares of the cogregacion at Ierusalem. And they sent Barnabas, that he shulde go vnto Antioche.
11:23Which whan he was come thither, & sawe the grace of God, he was glad, and exorted them all, that with purpose of hert they wolde contynue in the LORDE.
11:24For he was a good man, full of the holy goost and faith. And there was a greate multitude of people added vnto the LORDE.
11:25But Barnabas departed vnto Tharsus, to seke Saul
11:26And wha he had foude hi, he brought hi to Anthioche. It chauced, that a whole yeare they were there couersaunte together in the cogregacio, & taughte moch people, so that the disciples at Antioche were first called Christen.
11:27In those dayes came there prophetes fro Ierusalem vnto Antioche.
11:28And one of them (whose name was Agabus) stode vp, and declared by the sprete a greate derth, that shulde come ouer the whole compasse of the earth: which came to passe vnder the Emperoure Claudius.
11:29But the disciples cocluded (euery one acordinge to his abylite) to sende an handreachinge vnto ye brethren that were in Iewry:
11:30which thinge they also dyd, and sent it by the handes of Barnabas and Saul.
