14:1	And it fortuned in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagoge of the Iewes, and so spake, that a greate multytude both of the Iewes and also of the Grekes beleued.
14:2	But the vnbeleuyng Iewes, steryd vp, and vnquieted the myndes of the gentyls agaynste the brethren.
14:3	Longe tyme abode they there, and quyt them selues boldly with the helpe of the Lord, which gaue testimony vnto the worde of his grace, & graunted sygnes and wondres to be done by their handes.
14:4	But the multitude of the cytie was deuyded: and parte helde with the Iewes, & parte with the Apostles.
14:5	When ther was an assaute made both of the Gentyles & also of the Iewes with their rulers, to do them violence, and to stone them
14:6	they were ware of it, and fled vnto Lystra and Derba, cyties of Lycaonia, and vnto the regyon that lyeth ronnde aboute,
14:7	and there preached the Gospell.
14:8	And ther sate a certayne man at Lystra weake in hys fete, beynge creple from his mothers wombe, and neuer had walked.
14:9	The same hearde Paul preache. Which beholdynge hym, and perceauynge that he had fayth to be whole,
14:10	sayd with a loude voyce: stande vpryght on thy fete: And he stert vp, and walked.
14:11	And when the people sawe what Paul had done, they lyfte vp their voyces, sayinge in the speache of Lycaonia: Goddes are come downe to vs in the lyknes of men.
14:12	And they called Barnabas Iupiter, and Paul Mercurius, because he was the preacher,
14:13	Then Iupiters preste, which dwelt before their cytie, brought oxen and garlandes vnto the porche, and wolde haue done sacryfice with the people.
14:14	Which when the Apostles, Barnabas and Paul herde of, they rent their clothes, and ran in amonge the people, cryinge
14:15	and sayinge: syrs why do ye this? We are mortall men like vnto you, and preache vnto you, that ye shulde turne from these vanyties vnto the lyuinge God, which made heauen and erth and the see and all thynges that are ther in:
14:16	the which in tymes past suffred all nacyons to walcke in theyr awne wayes.
14:17	Neuerthelesse, he left not hym selfe withoute wytnes, in that he shewed hys beuefytes from heauen, in geuynge vs rayne and frutefull ceasons, fyllyng oure hertes with fode and gladnes.
14:18	And with these sayinges, sease refrayned they the people, that they had not done sacryfyce vnto them.
14:19	Thyther came certayne Iewes from Antioche and Iconium: which (whan they had obtayned the peoples consent and had stoned Paul) drew him out of the cytie, suppoge he had bene deed.
14:20	Howbeit as the disciples stode rounde about him, he arose vp, and came into the cytie. And the nexte daye he departed with Barnabas to Derba.
14:21	And whan they had preached to that cytie, & had taught many, they returned agayne to Lystra, and to Iconium and Antioche,
14:22	and strengthed the discyples soules agayne, and exhorted them to contynue in the fayth affirmynge that we must thorowe moche tribulacyon enntre into the kyngdome of God.
14:23	And whan they had ordened them elders by eleccyon in euery congregacyon, and had prayde and fasted, they commended them to the Lorde on whom they beleued.
14:24	And whan they had gone thorowe out Pisidia, they came to Pamphilia,
14:25	& whan they had preached the worde in Perga, they descended into the cyte Attalia,
14:26	and thence departed by shyppe to Antioche from whence they were committed vnto the grace of God to the worcke which they fulfylled.
14:27	When they were come, and had gathered the congregacion together, they rehersed all that God had doue by them and how he had opened the dore of fayth vnto the Gentyls.
14:28	And there they abode longe tyme with the discyples.


14:1	But it bifelde at Yconye, that thei entriden togidir in to the synagoge of Jewis, and spaken, so that ful greet multitude of Jewis and Grekis bileueden.
14:2	But the Jewis that weren vnbileueful, reiseden persecucioun, and stiriden to wraththe the soulis of hethene men ayens the britheren; but the Lord yaf soone pees.
14:3	Therfor thei dwelliden myche tyme, and diden tristili in the Lord, berynge witnessyng to the word of his grace, yyuynge signes and wondris to be maad bi the hondis of hem.
14:4	But the multitude of the citee was departid, and sum weren with the Jewis, and sum with the apostlis.
14:5	But whanne ther was maad `an asaute of the hethene men and the Jewis, with her princis, to turmenten and to stonen hem,
14:6	thei vndurstoden, and fledden togidere to the citees of Licaonye, and Listris, and Derben, and into al the cuntre aboute.
14:7	thei prechiden there the gospel, and al the multitude was moued togider in the teching of hem.
14:8	Poul and Barnabas dwelten at Listris. And a man at Listris was sijk in the feet, and hadde sete crokid fro his modris wombe, which neuer hadde goen.
14:9	This herde Poul spekinge; and Poul biheld hym, and siy that he hadde feith, that he schulde be maad saaf,
14:10	and seide with a greet vois, Rise thou `vp riyt on thi feet. And he lippide, and walkide.
14:11	And the puple, whanne thei hadde seyn that that Poul dide, reriden her vois in Licaon tunge, and seiden, Goddis maad lijk to men ben comun doun to vs.
14:12	And thei clepiden Barnabas Jubiter, and Poul Mercurie, for he was ledere of the word.
14:13	And the preest of Jubiter that was bifor the citee, brouyte boolis and crownes bifor the yatis, with puplis, and wolde haue maad sacrifice.
14:14	And whanne the apostlis Barnabas and Poul herden this, thei to-renten her cootis; and thei skipten out among the puple,
14:15	and crieden, and seiden, Men, what don ye this thing? and we ben deedli men lijk you, and schewen to you, that ye be conuertid fro these veyn thingis to the lyuynge God, that maad heuene, and erthe, and the see, and alle thingis that ben in hem;
14:16	which in generaciouns passid suffride alle folkis to gon in to her owne weies.
14:17	And yit he lefte not hym silf with out witnessing in wel doyng, for he yaf reyns fro heuene, and times beringe fruyt, and fulfillide youre hertis with meete and gladnesse.
14:18	And thei seiynge these thingis, vnnethis swagiden the puple, that thei offriden not to hem.
14:19	But sum Jewis camen ouer fro Antioche and Iconye, and counseilden the puple, and stonyden Poul, and drowen out of the citee, and gessiden that he was deed.
14:20	But whanne disciplis weren comun aboute him, he roos, and wente in to the citee; and in the dai suynge he wente forth with Barnabas in to Derben.
14:21	And whanne thei hadden prechid to the ilk citee, and tauyte manye, thei turneden ayen to Listris, and Iconye, and to Antioche; confermynge the soulis of disciplis,
14:22	and monestinge, that thei schulden dwelle in feith, and seiden, That bi many tribulaciouns it bihoueth vs to entre in to the kingdom of heuenes.
14:23	And whanne thei hadden ordeined prestis to hem bi alle citees, and hadden preied with fastyngis, thei bitoken hem to the Lord, in whom thei bileueden.
14:24	And thei passiden Persidie, and camen to Pamfilie;
14:25	and thei spaken the word `of the Lord in Pergen, and camen doun in to Italie.
14:26	And fro thennys thei wenten bi boot to Antiochie, fro whennus thei weren takun to the grace of God, in to the werk that thei filliden.
14:27	And whanne thei weren comun, and hadden gaderid the chirche, thei telden hou grete thingis God dide with hem, and that he hadde openyde to hethene men the dore of feith.
14:28	And thei dwelliden not a litil tyme with the disciplis.

14:5	But whan there rose vp an insurreccion of the Heythe and of ye Iewes, and of their rulers, to put them to shame, and to stone the,
14:6	they perceaued it, and fled vnto lystra and Derba cities of ye countre of Licaonia, and vnto ye region that lyeth rounde aboute,
14:7	and there they preached the Gospell.
14:8	And amonge them of Lystra, there was a man, which sat beynge impotent of his fete, and was crepell fro his mothers wombe, and had neuer walked,
14:9	the same herde Paul speake. And whan he behelde him, and perceaued that he had faith to be made whole,
14:10	he sayde wt a loude voyce: Stonde vp righte on thy fete. And he sprange vp and walked.
14:11	But whan the people sawe what Paul had done, they lifte vp their voyce, and sayde in ye speache of Lycaonia: The goddes are become like vnto men, and are come downe vnto vs.
14:12	And they called Barnabas Iupiter, and Paul Mercurius, because he was the preacher.
14:13	But Iupiters prest which dwelt before their cite, broughte oxen and garlandes before the gate, and wolde haue done sacrifice with the people.
14:14	Whan ye Apostles Barnabas and Paul herde that, they rent their clothes, and ranne in amonge the people, cryenge
14:15	and sayenge: Ye me, Why do ye this? We are mortall me also like vnto you, & preach vnto you ye Gospell, that ye shulde turne from these vayne thinges vnto ye lyuynge God, which made heaue and earth, and the see, and all that therin is,
14:16	which in tymes past suffred all ye Heythen to walke after their awne wayes.
14:17	Neuertheles he hath not left hi selfe without wytnesse, in yt he hath shewed his benefites, and geuen vs rayne from heauen, and frutefull seasons, fyllynge oure hertes with fode and gladnesse.
14:18	And whan they sayde this, they scarse refrayned the people, that they dyd not sacrifice vnto them.
14:19	But there came thither certayne Iewes from Antioche and Iconiu, and persuaded the people, and stoned Paul, and drue him out of the cite, supposinge he had bene deed.
14:20	Howbeyt as ye disciples stode rounde aboute him, he rose vp, & came in to the cite. And on the nexte daye he departed with Barnabas vnto Derba,
14:21	and preached the Gospell vnto the same cite, and taughte many of them. And they wete agayne vnto Lystra, and Iconium and Antioche,
14:22	strengthinge the soules of ye disciples, and exortinge the to cotynue in the faith: and that we thorow moch tribulacion must entre in to the kyngdome of God.
14:23	And wha they had ordeyned them Elders by eleccion thorow all the congregacions, they prayed and fasted, and comended them vnto the LORDE, on whom they beleued.
14:24	And they wente thorow Pisidia, and came to Pamphilia,
14:25	and spake the worde at Perga, and wete downe to Attalia,
14:26	and fro thence departed they by shippe vnto Antioche: from whence they were delyuered to the grace of God vnto ye worke, which they had fulfylled.
14:27	Whan they came there, they gathered the congregacion together, & shewed them, how greate thinges God had done with the, and how he had opened the dore of faithe vnto the Heithen.
14:28	And there they abode a longe tyme with the disciples.
