Acts - Chapter: 14

>
14:1And it came to pass in Iconium, that they did enter together into the synagogue of the Jews, and spake, so that there believed both of Jews and Greeks a great multitude;
14:2and the unbelieving Jews did stir up and made evil the souls of the nations against the brethren;
14:3long time, indeed, therefore, did they abide speaking boldly in the Lord, who is testifying to the word of His grace, and granting signs and wonders to come to pass through their hands.
14:4And the multitude of the city was divided, and some were with the Jews, and some with the apostles,
14:5and when there was a purpose both of the nations and of the Jews with their rulers to use `them' despitefully, and to stone them,
14:6they having become aware, did flee to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, and Derbe, and to the region round about,
14:7and there they were proclaiming good news.
14:8And a certain man in Lystra, impotent in the feet, was sitting, being lame from the womb of his mother -- who never had walked,
14:9this one was hearing Paul speaking, who, having stedfastly beheld him, and having seen that he hath faith to be saved,
14:10said with a loud voice, `Stand up on thy feet upright;' and he was springing and walking,
14:11and the multitudes having seen what Paul did, did lift up their voice, in the speech of Lycaonia, saying, `The gods, having become like men, did come down unto us;'
14:12they were calling also Barnabas Zeus, and Paul Hermes, since he was the leader in speaking.
14:13And the priest of the Zeus that is before their city, oxen and garlands unto the porches having brought, with the multitudes did wish to sacrifice,
14:14and having heard, the apostles Barnabas and Paul, having rent their garments, did spring into the multitude, crying
14:15and saying, `Men, why these things do ye? and we are men like-affected with you, proclaiming good news to you, from these vanities to turn unto the living God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all the things in them;
14:16who in the past generations did suffer all the nations to go on in their ways,
14:17though, indeed, without witness He did not leave himself, doing good -- from heaven giving rains to us, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness;'
14:18and these things saying, scarcely did they restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them.
14:19And there came thither, from Antioch and Iconium, Jews, and they having persuaded the multitudes, and having stoned Paul, drew him outside of the city, having supposed him to be dead;
14:20and the disciples having surrounded him, having risen he entered into the city, and on the morrow he went forth with Barnabas to Derbe.
14:21Having proclaimed good news also to that city, and having discipled many, they turned back to Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch,
14:22confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting to remain in the faith, and that through many tribulations it behoveth us to enter into the reign of God,
14:23and having appointed to them by vote elders in every assembly, having prayed with fastings, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.
14:24And having passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia,
14:25and having spoken in Perga the word, they went down to Attalia,
14:26and thence did sail to Antioch, whence they had been given by the grace of God for the work that they fulfilled;
14:27and having come and gathered together the assembly, they declared as many things as God did with them, and that He did open to the nations a door of faith;
14:28and they abode there not a little time with the disciples.

14:1And it fortuned in Iconium that they went both to gether into the synagoge of ye Iewes and so spake that a gret multitude both of ye Iewes and also of the Grekes beleved.
14:2But the unbelevinge Iewes steryd vp and vnquyeted the myndes of the Gentyls agaynste the brethre.
14:3Longe tyme a bode they there and quyt them selves boldly with the helpe of the Lorde the which gave testimony vnto ye worde of his grace and caused signes and wondres to be done by their hondes.
14:4The people of the cyte were devided: and parte helde with the Iewes and parte with the Apostles.
14:5When ther was a saute made both of the gentyls and also of the Iewes with their rulers to put them to shame and to stone
14:6the they were ware of it and fled vnto Listra and Derba cities of Licaonia and vnto the region that lyeth round aboute
14:7and there preached the gospell.
14:8And ther sate a certayne man at Listra weake in his fete beinge creple from his mothers wombe and never walkyd.
14:9The same hearde Paul preache. Which behelde him and perceaved that he had fayth to be whole
14:10and sayd with a loude voyce: stond vp right on thy fete. And he stert vp and walked.
14:11And when the people sawe what Paul had done they lifte vp their voyces sayinge in the speache of Lycaonia: Goddes are come doune to vs in the lyknes of men.
14:12And they called Barnabas Iupiter and Paul Mercurius because he was the preacher.
14:13Then Iupiters Preste which dwelt before their cite brought oxe and garlondes vnto the churche porche and wolde have done sacrifise with the people.
14:14But when the Apostles Barnabas and Paul herde that they rent their clothes and ran in amonge the people cryinge
14:15and sayinge: syrs why do ye this? We are mortall men lyke vnto you and preache vnto you that ye shuld turne from these vanyties vnto ye lyvinge God which made heaven and erth and the see and all that in them is:
14:16the which in tymes past suffred all nacions to walke in their awne wayes.
14:17Neverthelesse he lefte not him selfe with outen witnes in that he shewed his benefites in gevinge vs rayne from heaven and frutefull ceasons fyllinge oure hertes with fode and gladnes.
14:18And with these sayinges scase refrayned they the people that they had not done sacrifice vnto them.
14:19Thither came certayne Iewes fro Antioche and Iconium and optayned the peoples consent and stoned Paul and drewe him oute of the cyte supposynge he had bene deed.
14:20How be it as the disciples stode rounde about him he arose vp and cam into the cyte. And the nexte daye he departed with Barnabas to Derba.
14:21After they had preached to that cite and had taught many they returned agayne to Lisira and to Iconium and Antioche
14:22and strengthed the disciples soules exhortinge them to continue in the faith affyrminge yt we must thorowe moche tribulacion entre into the kyngdome of God.
14:23And when they had ordened them elders by eleccion in every congregacio after they had yrayde and fasted they comended them to God on whom they beleved.
14:24And they went thorow out Pisidia and came into Paphilia
14:25and when they had preached the worde of God in Perga they descended in to Attalia
14:26and thence departed by shippe to Antioche fro whence they were delivered vnto the grace of God to the worke which they had fulfilled.
14:27When they were come and had gaddered the congregacion to gedder they rehersed all that God had done by them and how he had opened the dore of faith vnto the getyls.
14:28And ther they abode longe tyme with the disciples.

14:1It fortuned at Iconium, that they wete both together in to the synagoge of the Iewes, and spake so, that a greate multitude of the Iewes & of the Grekes beleued.
14:2But the vnbeleuynge Iewes moued and disquyeted the soules of the Heythe agaynst the brethre.
14:3So they had their beynge there a loge season, and quyte them selues boldly in the LORDE, which gaue testimony vnto the worde of his grace, and caused tokens and wonders to be done by their handes.
14:4Howbeyt the multitude of the cite was deuyded, some helde wt the Iewes, and some with the Apostles.
14:5But whan there rose vp an insurreccion of the Heythe and of ye Iewes, and of their rulers, to put them to shame, and to stone the,
14:6they perceaued it, and fled vnto lystra and Derba cities of ye countre of Licaonia, and vnto ye region that lyeth rounde aboute,
14:7and there they preached the Gospell.
14:8And amonge them of Lystra, there was a man, which sat beynge impotent of his fete, and was crepell fro his mothers wombe, and had neuer walked,
14:9the same herde Paul speake. And whan he behelde him, and perceaued that he had faith to be made whole,
14:10he sayde wt a loude voyce: Stonde vp righte on thy fete. And he sprange vp and walked.

14:12And they called Barnabas Iupiter, and Paul Mercurius, because he was the preacher.
14:13But Iupiters prest which dwelt before their cite, broughte oxen and garlandes before the gate, and wolde haue done sacrifice with the people.
14:14Whan ye Apostles Barnabas and Paul herde that, they rent their clothes, and ranne in amonge the people, cryenge
14:15and sayenge: Ye me, Why do ye this? We are mortall me also like vnto you, & preach vnto you ye Gospell, that ye shulde turne from these vayne thinges vnto ye lyuynge God, which made heaue and earth, and the see, and all that therin is,
14:16which in tymes past suffred all ye Heythen to walke after their awne wayes.
14:17Neuertheles he hath not left hi selfe without wytnesse, in yt he hath shewed his benefites, and geuen vs rayne from heauen, and frutefull seasons, fyllynge oure hertes with fode and gladnesse.
14:18And whan they sayde this, they scarse refrayned the people, that they dyd not sacrifice vnto them.
14:19But there came thither certayne Iewes from Antioche and Iconiu, and persuaded the people, and stoned Paul, and drue him out of the cite, supposinge he had bene deed.
14:20Howbeyt as ye disciples stode rounde aboute him, he rose vp, & came in to the cite. And on the nexte daye he departed with Barnabas vnto Derba,

14:27Whan they came there, they gathered the congregacion together, & shewed them, how greate thinges God had done with the, and how he had opened the dore of faithe vnto the Heithen.
