| 10:1 | Brethren, the pleasure indeed of my heart, and my supplication that `is' to God for Israel, is -- for salvation; |
| 10:2 | for I bear them testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge, |
| 10:3 | for not knowing the righteousness of God, and their own righteousness seeking to establish, to the righteousness of God they did not submit. |
| 10:4 | For Christ is an end of law for righteousness to every one who is believing, |
| 10:5 | for Moses doth describe the righteousness that `is' of the law, that, `The man who did them shall live in them,' |
| 10:6 | and the righteousness of faith doth thus speak: `Thou mayest not say in thine heart, Who shall go up to the heaven,' that is, Christ to bring down? |
| 10:7 | or, `Who shall go down to the abyss,' that is, Christ out of the dead to bring up. |
| 10:8 | But what doth it say? `Nigh thee is the saying -- in thy mouth, and in thy heart:' that is, the saying of the faith, that we preach; |
| 10:9 | that if thou mayest confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and mayest believe in thy heart that God did raise him out of the dead, thou shalt be saved, |
| 10:10 | for with the heart doth `one' believe to righteousness, and with the mouth is confession made to salvation; |
| 10:11 | for the Writing saith, `Every one who is believing on him shall not be ashamed,' |
| 10:12 | for there is no difference between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord of all `is' rich to all those calling upon Him, |
| 10:13 | for every one -- whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved.' |
| 10:14 | How then shall they call upon `him' in whom they did not believe? and how shall they believe `on him' of whom they did not hear? and how shall they hear apart from one preaching? |
| 10:15 | and how shall they preach, if they may not be sent? according as it hath been written, `How beautiful the feet of those proclaiming good tidings of peace, of those proclaiming good tidings of the good things!' |
| 10:16 | But they were not all obedient to the good tidings, for Isaiah saith, `Lord, who did give credence to our report?' |
| 10:17 | so then the faith `is' by a report, and the report through a saying of God, |
| 10:18 | but I say, Did they not hear? yes, indeed -- `to all the earth their voice went forth, and to the ends of the habitable world their sayings.' |
| 10:19 | But I say, Did not Israel know? first Moses saith, `I will provoke you to jealousy by `that which is' not a nation; by an unintelligent nation I will anger you,' |
| 10:20 | and Isaiah is very bold, and saith, `I was found by those not seeking Me; I became manifest to those not inquiring after Me;' |
| 10:21 | and unto Israel He saith, `All the day I did stretch out My hands unto a people unbelieving and gainsaying.' |
| 10:1 | Brethren my hertes desyre and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. |
| 10:2 | For I beare them recorde that they have a fervet mynde to God warde but not accordinge to knowledge. |
| 10:3 | For they are ignoraut of the rightewesnes which is alowed before God and goo about to stablisshe their awne rightewesnes and therfore are not obedient vnto the rightewesnes which is of valew before God. |
| 10:4 | For Christ is the ende of the lawe to iustifie all that beleve. |
| 10:5 | Moses describeth the rightewesnes which cometh of ye lawe howe that the man which doth the thinges of the lawe shall lyve therin. |
| 10:6 | But ye rightewesnes which cometh of fayth speaketh on this wyse. Saye not in thyne hert who shall ascende into heven? (that is nothinge els then to fetch Christ doune) |
| 10:7 | Other who shall descende into the depe? (that is nothinge els but to fetch vp Christ from deeth) |
| 10:8 | But what sayth the scripture? The worde is nye the even in thy mouth and in thyn herte. This worde is the worde of fayth which we preache. |
| 10:9 | For yf thou shalt knowledge wt thy mouth that Iesus is the lorde and shalt beleve with thyn hert that God raysed him up from deeth thou shalt be safe. |
| 10:10 | For the belefe of the hert iustifieth: and to knowledge with the mouth maketh a man safe. |
| 10:11 | For the scripture sayth: whosoever beleveth on him shall not be ashamed. |
| 10:12 | Ther is no difference bitwene the Iewe and the gentyll. For one is Lorde of all which is ryche vnto all that call on him. |
| 10:13 | For whosoever shall call on the name of the lorde shalbe safe. |
| 10:14 | But how shall they call on him on who they beleved not? how shall they beleve on him of whom they have not herde? how shall they heare with out a preacher? |
| 10:15 | And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written: how beautifull are the fete of them which bringe glad tydynges of peace and bringe glad tydynges of good thinges. |
| 10:16 | But they have not all obeyed to ye gospell. For Esaias sayth: Lorde who shall beleve oure sayinges? |
| 10:17 | So then fayth cometh by hearynge and hearynge cometh by the worde of God. |
| 10:18 | But I axe: have they not herde? No dout their sounde went out into all londes: and their wordes in to the endes of the worlde. |
| 10:19 | But I demaunde whether Israel dyd knowe or not? Fyrst Moses sayth: I will provoke you for to envy by the that are no people and by a folisshe nacion I will anger you. |
| 10:20 | Esaias after that is bolde and sayth. I am founde of the that sought me not and have appered to them that axed not after me. |
| 10:21 | And agaynst Israel he sayth: All daye longe have I stretched forth my hondes vnto a people yt beleveth not but speaketh agaynst me. |
| 10:1 | Brethren, my hertes desyre, & prayer vnto God for Israel is, that they might be saued. |
| 10:2 | For I beare them recorde, that they are zelous for Gods cause, but not wt vnderstondinge. |
| 10:3 | For they knowe not the righteousnes which auayleth before God, and go aboute to manteyne their awne righteousnes: and thus they are not subdued vnto the righteousnes, that is off value before God. |
| 10:4 | For Christ is the ende of the lawe, vnto righteousnes for euery one yt beleueth. |
| 10:5 | Moses wryteth of ye righteousnes which commeth of the lawe, that the man which doth ye same, shal lyue therin. |
| 10:6 | But ye righteousnes which cometh of faith, speaketh on this wyse: Saye not in thine hert: Who wil go vp in to heaue? (that is nothinge els then to fetch Christ downe) |
| 10:7 | Or who wyl go downe in to ye depe? (that is nothinge els the to fetch vp Christ from the deed.) |
| 10:8 | But what sayeth the scripture? The worde is nye the, euen in thy mouth and in thine hert. This is ye worde of faith yt we preach. |
| 10:9 | For yf thou knowlegest Iesus with thy mouth, that he is the LORDE, and beleuest in thine hert, that God hath raysed him vp from the deed, thou shalt be saued. |
| 10:10 | For yf a man beleue from the hert, he shalbe made righteous: and yf a ma knowlege with the mouth, he shal be saued. |
| 10:11 | For the scripture sayeth: Who so euer beleueth on him, shal not be confounded. |
| 10:12 | Here is no difference, nether of the Iewe ner of the Gentyle. For one is LORDE of all, which is riche vnto all yt call vpo him. |
| 10:13 | For who so euer shal call vpon the name of the LORDE, shalbe saued. |
| 10:14 | But how shal they call vpo him, on who they beleue not? How shal they beleue on him, of who they haue not herde? How shal they heare without a preacher? |
| 10:15 | But how shal they preach, excepte they be sent? As it is wrytte: How beutyfull are the fete of the yt preach peace, yt brynge good tidinges? |
| 10:16 | But they are not all obedient vnto the Gospell. For Esaye sayeth: LORDE, who beleueth oure preachinge? |
| 10:17 | So the faith cometh by hearynge, but hearinge cometh by the worde of God. |
| 10:18 | But I saye: Haue they not herde? No doute their sounde wete out into all londes, and their wordes in to the endes of the worlde. |
| 10:19 | But I saye: Hath not Israel knowne? First, Moses sayeth: I wil prouoke you to enuye, by them that are not my people: & by a foolish nacion wyl I anger you. |
| 10:20 | Esaye after him is bolde, aud sayeth: I am founde of them, that sought me not: & haue appeared vnto them, that axed not after me. |
| 10:21 | But vnto Israel he sayeth: All the daye loge haue I stretched forth my handes vnto a people yt beleueth not, but speaketh agaynst me. |
