1 Corinthians - Chapter: 1

>
1:1Paul called an Apostle of Iesus Christ, thorowe the will of God, and brother Softenes.
1:2Unto the congregacyon of God whych is at Corynthum. To them that are sanctifyed by Christ Iesu, called saynctes, with all that call on the name of oure Lorde Iesus Chryst in euery place, ether of theirs or of oures.
1:3Grace be vnto you and peace from God oure father, & from the Lorde Iesus Christ.
1:4I thanke my God allwayes on youre behalfe, for the grace of God, whych is geuen you by Iesus Christ,
1:5that in all thynges ye are made ryche by hym, in all vtteraunce & in all knowlegde,
1:6by the which thinges the testimony of Iesus Christ was confermed in you,
1:7so that ye are behynde in no gyfte, waytinge for the appearyng of oure Lord Iesus Christ,
1:8which shall also strenght you vnto the ende, that ye maye be blamelesse in the daye of oure Lorde Iesus Christ.
1:9God is faythfull, by whom ye are called vnto the fellyshyppe of hys sonne Iesus Christ our Lord.
1:10I beseche you brethren by the name of oure Lord Iesus Christ, that ye all speake one thinge, and that there be no dissencion amonge you: but that ye maye be a whole body: of one mynde and of one meanynge.
1:11For it is shewed vnto me (my brethren) of you, by them which are of the house of Cloe, that ther is stryfes amonge you.
1:12I speake of the same that euery one of you sayeth: I holde of Paul: I holde of Apollo: I holde of Cephas: I holde of Christ.
1:13Is Christ deuyded? Was Paul crucifyed for you? ether were ye baptysed in the name of Paul?
1:14I thanke God, that I baptysed none of you, but Crispus and Gaius:
1:15lest eny shuld saye, that I had baptysed in myne awne name.
1:16I baptised also the house of Stephana. Furthermore knowe I not, whether I baptised eny man or no.
1:17For Christ sent me not to baptyse, but to preache the Gospell, not wt wysdome of wordes, lest the crosse of Christ shulde haue bene made of none effecte.
1:18For the preaching of the crosse, is to them that perisshe, foolishnes: but vnto vs which are saued it is the power of God.
1:19For it is wrytten: I will destroye the wysdome of the wyse, and wyll cast awaye the vnderstandynge of the prudent.
1:20Where is the wyse? Where is the scrybe? Where is the disputer of this worlde?
1:21Hath not God made the wysdome of this worlde foolishnes? For after that the worlde thorowe wysdome knewe not God, in the wysdome of God, it pleased God thorowe foolyshnes of preachynge, to saue them that beleue.
1:22For the Iewes require a sygne, and the Grekes seke after wysdome.
1:23But we preache Christ crucifyed, vnto the Iewes an occasyon of fallynge, and vnto the Grekes foolysihnes:
1:24but vnto them whych are called both of the Iewes & Grekes, we preache Christ the power of God and the wysdome of God.
1:25For the foolishnes of God, is wyser then men: and the weakenes of God is stronger then men.
1:26Brethren, ye se your callynge, how that not many wyse men after the flesshe, not many myghty, not many of hye degre, are called:
1:27But God hath chosen the folisshe thynges of the worlde, to confounde the wyse. And God hath chosen the weake thynges, of the worlde, to confounde thynges whych are myghtye.
1:28And vyle thynges of the worlde, & thinges which are despised, hath God chosen, yee and thinges of no reputacyon, for to brynge to nought thynges of reputacyon,
1:29that no flesshe shulde reioyce in hys presence.
1:30And of hym are ye, in Chryst Iesu, whych of God is made vnto vs, wysdome, & rightwesnes, and sanctifyinge, and redempcyon.
1:31That accordynge as it is written: he which reioyseth, shulde reioyce in the Lorde.

1:1Poul, clepid apostle of Jhesu Crist, bi the wille of God, and Sostenes, brothir, to the chirche of God that is at Corynthe,
1:2to hem that ben halewid in Crist Jhesu, and clepid seyntis, with alle that inwardli clepen the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, in ech place of hem and of oure,
1:3grace to you and pees of God, oure fadir, and of the Lord Jhesu Crist.
1:4Y do thankyngis to my God eueremore for you, in the grace of God that is youun to you in Crist Jhesu.
1:5For in alle thingis ye ben maad riche in hym, in ech word, and in ech kunnyng,
1:6as the witnessyng of Crist is confermyd in you;
1:7so that no thing faile to you in ony grace, that abiden the schewyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist;
1:8which also schal conferme you in to the ende with outen cryme, in the dai of the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist.
1:9`A trewe God, bi whom ye ben clepid in to the felouschipe of his sone Jhesu Crist oure Lord.
1:10But, britheren, Y biseche you, bi the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, that ye alle seie the same thing, and that dissenciouns be not among you; but be ye perfit in the same wit, and in the same kunnyng.
1:11For, my britheren, it is teld to me of hem that ben at Cloes, that stryues ben among you.
1:12And Y seie that, that ech of you seith, For Y am of Poul, and Y am of Apollo, and Y am of Cefas, but Y am of Crist.
1:13Whether Crist is departid? whether Poul was crucified for you, ether ye ben baptisid in the name of Poul?
1:14Y do thankyngis to my God, that Y baptiside noon of you, but Crispus and Gayus;
1:15lest ony man seie, that ye ben baptisid in my name.
1:16And Y baptiside also the hous of Stephan, but Y woot not, that Y baptiside ony other.
1:17For Crist sente me not to baptise, but to preche the gospel; not in wisdom of word, that the cros of Crist be not voidid awei.
1:18For the word of the cros is foli to hem that perischen; but to hem that ben maad saaf, that is to seie, to vs, it is the vertu of God.
1:19For it is writun, Y schal distruye the wisdom of wise men, and Y schal reproue the prudence of prudent men.
1:20Where is the wise man? where is the wise lawiere? where is the purchasour of this world? Whether God hath not maad the wisdom of this world fonned?
1:21For the world in wisdom of God knewe not God bi wisdom, it pleside to God, bi foli of prechyng, `to maken hem saaf that bileueden.
1:22For Jewis seken signes, and Grekis seken wisdom;
1:23but we prechen Crist crucified, to Jewis sclaundre, and to hethene men foli;
1:24but to tho Jewis and Grekis that ben clepid, we prechen Crist the vertu of God and the wisdom of God.
1:25For that that is foli thing of God, is wiser than men; and that that is the feble thing of God, is strengere than men.
1:26But, britheren, se ye youre clepyng; for not many wise men aftir the fleisch, not many myyti, not many noble.
1:27But God chees tho thingis that ben fonned of the world, to confounde wise men;
1:28and God chees the feble thingis of the world, to confounde the stronge thingis; and God chees the vnnoble thingis `and dispisable thingis of the world, and tho thingis that ben not, to distruye tho thingis that ben;
1:29that ech man haue not glorie in his siyt.
1:30But of hym ye ben in Crist Jhesu, which is maad of God to vs wisdom, and riytwisnesse, and holynesse, and ayenbiyng; that,
1:31as it is wrytun, He that glorieth, haue glorie in the Lord.

1:1Paul, called to be an Apostle of Iesus Christ thorow ye will of God, and brother Sosthenes,
1:2vnto the congregacion off God which is at Corinthum, to them that are sanctified in Christ Iesus, sayntes by callinge, with all them that call vpon the name of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, in euery place both off theirs and oures.
1:3Grace be with you and peace from God oure father, and from the LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:4I thake my God allwayes on youre behalfe, for the fauoure of God which is geue you in Iesus Christ,
1:5that in all poyntes ye are made ryche by him, in euery worde, and in all maner of knowlege
1:6(eue as ye preachinge of Christ is confirmed in you)
1:7so that ye wante nothinge in eny gifte, and wayte but for the appearinge of oure LORDE Iesus Christ:
1:8which shal strength you also vnto ye ende, that ye maye be blamelesse in the daye of oure LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:9For God is faithfull, by who ye are called vnto the fellishippe of his sonne Iesus Christ oure LORDE.
1:10But I beseke you brethre thorow the name of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, that ye all speake one thinge, and let there be no discension amonge you, but that ye be perfecte in one meanynge.
1:11For it is shewed me (my brethren) of you, by them which are of ye housholde of Cloes, that there is stryfe amonge you. I speake of that,
1:12which euery one of you sayeth: I holde of Paul. Another, I holde of Apollo. The thirde, I holde of Cephas. The fourth, I holde off Christ.
1:13Is Christ then deuyded in partes? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptysed in ye name of Paul?
1:14I thanke God that I haue baptised none of you, but Crispus and Gaius:
1:15lest eny shulde saye, yt I in myne awne name had baptised.
1:16I baptysed also ye housholde of Stephana. Farthermore knowe I not, whether I baptysed eny other.
1:17For Christ sent me not to baptyse, but to preach the Gospell, not with wyssdome of wordes, lest ye crosse of Christ shulde haue bene made of none effecte.
1:18For the worde of ye crosse is foolishnesse to the that perishe but vnto vs which are saued, it is the power of God.
1:19For it is wrytte: I wyl destroye the wyssdome of the wyse, & wil cast away the vnderstondinge of ye prudet.
1:20Where are the wyse? Where are ye scrybes? where are ye disputers of this worlde?
1:21Hath not God made the wyssdome of this worlde foolishnesse? For in so moch as the worlde by the wyssdome therof knewe not God in his wyssdome, it pleased God thorow foolish preachinge to saue them yt beleue.
1:22For the Iewes requyre tokens, and the Grekes axe after wyssdome.
1:23But we preach Christ the crucified: to the Iewes an occasion off fallinge, and vnto the Grekes foolishnes.
1:24But vnto them that are called (both Iewes and Grekes) we preach Christ the power of God and the wyssdome off God.
1:25For the foolishnes of God is wyser then men: and the weaknes of God is stroger the men.
1:26Brethren loke on youre callinge, how that not many wyseme after the flesh, not many mightie, not many of hye degre are called:
1:27but that foolish is before the worlde, hath God chosen, that he mighte cofounde the wyse: And that weake is before ye worlde, hath God chosen, yt he mighte confounde the mightye.
1:28And the vyle and despysed before the worlde hath God chosen, yee and that which is nothinge, that he mighte destroye that which is oughte,
1:29that no flesh shulde reioyse in his presence.
1:30Of the same are ye also in Christ Iesu, which of God is made vnto vs wyssdome and righteousnes, and sanctifienge and redepcion,
1:31that, acordinge as it is wrytten: He that reioyseth, shulde reioyse in the LORDE.
