1 Corinthians - Chapter: 1

>
1:1Paul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,
1:2to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place -- both theirs and ours:
1:3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
1:4I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,
1:5that in every thing ye were enriched in him, in all discourse and all knowledge,
1:6according as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,
1:7so that ye are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1:8who also shall confirm you unto the end -- unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;
1:9faithful `is' God, through whom ye were called to the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
1:10And I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,
1:11for it was signified to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;
1:12and I say this, that each one of you saith, `I, indeed, am of Paul' -- `and I of Apollos,' -- `and I of Cephas,' -- `and I of Christ.'
1:13Hath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;
1:14I give thanks to God that no one of you did I baptize, except Crispus and Gaius --
1:15that no one may say that to my own name I did baptize;
1:16and I did baptize also Stephanas' household -- further, I have not known if I did baptize any other.
1:17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but -- to proclaim good news; not in wisdom of discourse, that the cross of the Christ may not be made of none effect;
1:18for the word of the cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us -- those being saved -- it is the power of God,
1:19for it hath been written, `I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought;'
1:20where `is' the wise? where the scribe? where a disputer of this age? did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world?
1:21for, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.
1:22Since also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,
1:23also we -- we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,
1:24and to those called -- both Jews and Greeks -- Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,
1:25because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;
1:26for see your calling, brethren, that not many `are' wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;
1:27but the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;
1:28and the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless --
1:29that no flesh may glory before Him;
1:30and of Him ye -- ye are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,
1:31that, according as it hath been written, `He who is glorying -- in the Lord let him glory.'

1:1Paul by vocacion an Apostle of Iesus Christ thorow the will of God and brother Sostenes.
1:2Vnto the congregacion of God which is at Corinthum. To them that are sanctified in Christ Iesu sainctes by callynge with all that call on the name of oure lorde Iesus Christ in every place both of theirs and of oures
1:3Grace be with you and peace fro God oure father and from the lorde Iesus Christ.
1:4I thanke my God all wayes on youre behalfe for ye grace of God which is geuen you by Iesus Christ
1:5that in all thinges ve are made riche by him in all lerninge and in all knowledge
1:6even as the testimony of Iesus Christ was confermed in you)
1:7so that ye are behynde in no gyft and wayte for the apperynge of oure lorde Iesus Christ
1:8which shall streght you vnto ye ende that ye maye be blamelesse in ye daye of oure lorde Iesus Christ.
1:9ffor god is faythfull by whom ye are called vnto ye fellishyppe of his sonne Iesus Christe oure lorde
1:10I beseche you brethre in ye name of oure lorde Iesus Christ that ye all speake one thynge and that there be no dissencion amoge you: but be ye knyt together in one mynde and in one meaynge.
1:11It is shewed vnto me (my brethren) of you by them that are of the housse of Cloe that ther is stryfe amonge you. And this is it that I meane:
1:12how that comelie amonge you one sayeth: I holde of Paul: another I holde of Apollo: ye thyrde I holde of Cephas: ye four ye I holde of Christ.
1:13Ys Christ devided? was Paul crucified for you? ether were ye baptised in ye name of Paul?
1:14I thanke God that I christened none of you but Crispus and Gayus
1:15lest eny shulde saye that I had baptised in myne awne name.
1:16I baptised also the housse of Stephana. Forthermore knowe I not whether I baptised eny man or no.
1:17For Christ sent me not to baptyse but to preache ye gospell not with wysdome of wordes lest the crosse of Christ shuld have bene made of none effecte.
1:18For ye preachinge of the crosse is to them yt perisshe folishnes: but vnto vs which are saved it is ye power of God.
1:19For it is written: I will destroye the wysdome of the wyse and will cast awaye the vnderstondinge of the prudet.
1:20Where is the wyse? Where is the scrybe? Where is the searcher of this worlde?
1:21Hath not God made the wysdome of this worlde folisshnes? For when the worlde thorow wysdome knew not God in ye wysdome of God: it pleased God thorow folisshnes of preachinge to save them yt beleve.
1:22For ye Iewes requyre a signe and the Grekes seke after wysdome.
1:23But we preache Christ crucified vnto the Iewes an occasion of fallinge and vnto the Grekes folisshnes:
1:24but vnto the which are called both of Iewes and Grekes we preache Christ ye power of God and the wysdome of God.
1:25For the folishnes of God is wyser then me: and the weakenes of God is stronger then men.
1:26Brethren loke on youre callinge how that not many wyse men after the flesshe not many myghty not many of hye degre are called:
1:27but God hath chosen the folysshe thinges of the worlde to confounde the wyse. And God hath chosyn the weake thinges of the worlde to confounde thinges which are mighty.
1:28And vile thinges of the worlde and thinges which are despysed hath God chosen yee and thinges of no reputacion for to brynge to nought thinges of reputacion
1:29that no flesshe shulde reioyce in his presence.
1:30And vnto him partayne ye in Christ Iesu which of God is made vnto vs wysdome and also rightewesnes and saunctifyinge and redempcion.
1:31That accordinge as it is written: he which reioyseth shulde reioyce in the Lorde.

1:1Paul, called to be an Apostle of Iesus Christ thorow ye will of God, and brother Sosthenes,
1:2vnto the congregacion off God which is at Corinthum, to them that are sanctified in Christ Iesus, sayntes by callinge, with all them that call vpon the name of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, in euery place both off theirs and oures.
1:3Grace be with you and peace from God oure father, and from the LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:4I thake my God allwayes on youre behalfe, for the fauoure of God which is geue you in Iesus Christ,
1:5that in all poyntes ye are made ryche by him, in euery worde, and in all maner of knowlege
1:6(eue as ye preachinge of Christ is confirmed in you)
1:7so that ye wante nothinge in eny gifte, and wayte but for the appearinge of oure LORDE Iesus Christ:
1:8which shal strength you also vnto ye ende, that ye maye be blamelesse in the daye of oure LORDE Iesus Christ.
1:9For God is faithfull, by who ye are called vnto the fellishippe of his sonne Iesus Christ oure LORDE.
1:10But I beseke you brethre thorow the name of oure LORDE Iesus Christ, that ye all speake one thinge, and let there be no discension amonge you, but that ye be perfecte in one meanynge.
1:11For it is shewed me (my brethren) of you, by them which are of ye housholde of Cloes, that there is stryfe amonge you. I speake of that,
1:12which euery one of you sayeth: I holde of Paul. Another, I holde of Apollo. The thirde, I holde of Cephas. The fourth, I holde off Christ.
1:13Is Christ then deuyded in partes? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were ye baptysed in ye name of Paul?
1:14I thanke God that I haue baptised none of you, but Crispus and Gaius:
1:15lest eny shulde saye, yt I in myne awne name had baptised.
1:16I baptysed also ye housholde of Stephana. Farthermore knowe I not, whether I baptysed eny other.
1:17For Christ sent me not to baptyse, but to preach the Gospell, not with wyssdome of wordes, lest ye crosse of Christ shulde haue bene made of none effecte.
1:18For the worde of ye crosse is foolishnesse to the that perishe but vnto vs which are saued, it is the power of God.
1:19For it is wrytte: I wyl destroye the wyssdome of the wyse, & wil cast away the vnderstondinge of ye prudet.
1:20Where are the wyse? Where are ye scrybes? where are ye disputers of this worlde?
1:21Hath not God made the wyssdome of this worlde foolishnesse? For in so moch as the worlde by the wyssdome therof knewe not God in his wyssdome, it pleased God thorow foolish preachinge to saue them yt beleue.
1:22For the Iewes requyre tokens, and the Grekes axe after wyssdome.
1:23But we preach Christ the crucified: to the Iewes an occasion off fallinge, and vnto the Grekes foolishnes.
1:24But vnto them that are called (both Iewes and Grekes) we preach Christ the power of God and the wyssdome off God.
1:25For the foolishnes of God is wyser then men: and the weaknes of God is stroger the men.
1:26Brethren loke on youre callinge, how that not many wyseme after the flesh, not many mightie, not many of hye degre are called:
1:27but that foolish is before the worlde, hath God chosen, that he mighte cofounde the wyse: And that weake is before ye worlde, hath God chosen, yt he mighte confounde the mightye.
1:28And the vyle and despysed before the worlde hath God chosen, yee and that which is nothinge, that he mighte destroye that which is oughte,
1:29that no flesh shulde reioyse in his presence.
1:30Of the same are ye also in Christ Iesu, which of God is made vnto vs wyssdome and righteousnes, and sanctifienge and redepcion,
1:31that, acordinge as it is wrytten: He that reioyseth, shulde reioyse in the LORDE.
