1 Corinthians - Chapter: 11

>
11:1Folowe me, as I do Christe.
11:2I commende you brethren that ye remembre me in al thinges, & kepe the ordinaunces euen as I deliuered them to you.
11:3I woulde you knewe that Christ is the heade of euery man. And the man is the womans heade. And God is Christes heade.
11:4Euery man praiynge or prophesiynge hauing any thinge on his heade, shameth his head.
11:5Euery woman that prayeth or prophesyeth bare headed, dishonesteth her heade. For it is euen all one, and the very same thinge, euen as though she were shauen.
11:6If the woman be not couered, let her also be shoren. If it be shame for a woman to be shorne or shauen let her couer her head.
11:7A man oughte not to couer his heade, for as muche as he is the ymage and glorye of God. The woman is the glorye of the man.
11:8For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man.
11:9Neither was the man created for the womans sake: but the woman for the mannes sake.
11:10For thys cause ought the woman to haue power on her heade, for the aungels sakes.
11:11Neuerthelesse, neyther is the man wythout the woman neyther the woman wythout the man in the Lorde.
11:12For as the woman is of the man, euen so is the man by the woman: but al is of God.
11:13Iudge in your selfes whether it be comelye, that a woman praye vnto God beare headed.
11:14Or els doeth not nature teache you that it is a shame for a man,
11:15yf he haue longe heyr, & prayse to a woman, yf she haue longe heyre? For her heyre is geuen her to couer her wythall.
11:16If there be anye man amonge you, that lusteth to striue let hym knowe that we haue no suche custome, neither the congregations of God.
11:17This I warne you of, and commende not that ye come together: not after a better maner but after a worsse.
11:18Fyrste of all when ye come together in the congregacion, I heare that there is dyssencyon amonge you, and I partely, beleue it.
11:19For there muste be sectes amonge you, that they whyche are perfecte amonge you, myghte be knowen.
11:20When ye come together a man can not eate the Lordes supper. For euery man beginneth afore to eate hys owne supper.
11:21And one is houngerye, and another is drounken. Haue ye not houses to eate and to drinke in?
11:22Or els despise ye the congregacion of God and shame them that haue not? What shall I saye vnto you? shall I prayse you: In thys prayse I you not.
11:23That whiche I delyuered you, I receiued of the Lorde. For the Lorde Iesus the same nyght, in whyche he was betrayed, toke breade,
11:24and thanked and brake, and sayde. Take ye, eate ye thys is my bodye whiche is broken for you. Thys do ye in the remembraunce of me.
11:25After the same maner he toke the cuppe, when supper was done, saying. Thys cuppe is the newe testamente in my bloude. Thys do as ofte as ye drynke it, in the remembraunce of me.
11:26For as often as ye shal eate thys breade, and drincke this cuppe, ye shall shewe the Lordes death tyll he come.
11:27Wherfore whosoeuer shall eate of this bread, or drinke of the cuppe vnworthely, shall be gyltie of the bodye and bloude of the Lorde.
11:28Let a man therfore examen hym selfe, and so let hym eate of the breade and drynke of the cuppe.
11:29For he that eateth or drinketh vnworthelye, eateth and drynketh his owne dampnation, because he maketh no difference of the Lordes bodye.
11:30For this cause manye are weake and sycke amonge you, and manye slepe.
11:31Yf we had truely iudged our selues, we should not haue ben iudged.
11:32But when we are iudged of the Lorde, we are chastened, because we shoulde not be dampued wyth the worlde.
11:33Wherfore my brethren, when ye come together to eate, tary one for another.
11:34If any man hunger, let hym eate at home, that ye come not together vnto condempnation. Other thynges wil I set in order when I come.

11:1Be yee followers of mee, euen as I am of Christ.
11:2Now brethren, I commend you, that ye remember all my things, and keepe the ordinances, as I deliuered them to you.
11:3But I wil that ye know, that Christ is the head of euery man: and the man is the womans head: and God is Christs head.
11:4Euery man praying or prophecying hauing any thing on his head, dishonoureth his head.
11:5But euery woman that prayeth or prophecieth bare headed, dishonoureth her head: for it is euen one very thing, as though she were shauen.
11:6Therefore if the woman be not couered, let her also be shorne: and if it be shame for a woman to be shorne or shauen, let her be couered.
11:7For a man ought not to couer his head: for as much as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
11:8For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man.
11:9For the man was not created for the womans sake: but the woman for the mans sake.
11:10Therefore ought the woman to haue power on her head, because of the Angels.
11:11Neuertheles, neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man in the Lord.
11:12For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman: but all things are of God.
11:13Iudge in your selues, Is it comely that a woman pray vnto God vncouered?
11:14Doeth not nature it selfe teach you, that if a man haue long heare, it is a shame vnto him?
11:15But if a woman haue long heare, it is a prayse vnto her: for her heare is giuen her for a couering.
11:16But if any man lust to be contentious, we haue no such custome, neither the Churches of God.
11:17Nowe in this that I declare, I prayse you not, that ye come together, not with profite, but with hurt.
11:18For first of all, when ye come together in the Church, I heare that there are dissentions among you: and I beleeue it to be true in some part.
11:19For there must be heresies euen among you, that they which are approoued among you, might be knowen.
11:20When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eate the Lords Supper.
11:21For euery man when they should eate, taketh his owne supper afore, and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
11:22Haue ye not houses to eate and to drinke in? despise ye the Church of God, and shame them that haue not? what shall I say to you? shall I prayse you in this? I prayse you not.
11:23For I haue receiued of the Lord that which I also haue deliuered vnto you, to wit, That the Lord Iesus in the night when he was betrayed, tooke bread:
11:24And when hee had giuen thankes, hee brake it, and sayde, Take, eate: this is my body, which is broken for you: this doe ye in remembrance of me.
11:25After the same maner also he tooke the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the Newe Testament in my blood: this doe as oft as ye drinke it, in remembrance of me.
11:26For as often as ye shall eate this bread, and drinke this cup, ye shewe the Lords death till hee come.
11:27Wherefore, whosoeuer shall eate this bread, and drinke the cup of the Lord vnworthily, shall be guiltie of the body and blood of the Lord.
11:28Let euery man therefore examine himselfe, and so let him eate of this bread, and drinke of this cup.
11:29For he that eateth and drinketh vnworthily, eateth and drinketh his owne damnation, because he discerneth not the Lords body.
11:30For this cause many are weake, and sicke among you, and many sleepe.
11:31For if we would iudge our selues, we should not be iudged.
11:32But when we are iudged, we are chastened of the Lord, because we should not be condemned with the world.
11:33Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eate, tary one for another.
11:34And if any man be hungry, let him eate at home, that ye come not together vnto condemnation. Other things will I set in order when I come.

11:1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
11:2Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
11:3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
11:4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
11:5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
11:6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
11:7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
11:8For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
11:9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
11:10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
11:11Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
11:12For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
11:13Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
11:14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
11:15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
11:16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
11:17Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
11:18For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
11:19For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
11:20When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
11:21For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
11:22What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
11:23For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
11:24And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
11:25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
11:26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
11:27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
11:28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
11:29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
11:30For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
11:31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
11:32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
11:33Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
11:34And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
