| 2:1 | But Y wole that ye wite, what bisynesse Y haue for you, and for hem that ben at Laodice, and whiche euere saien not my face in fleisch, |
| 2:2 | that her hertis ben coumfortid, and thei ben tauyt in charite, in to alle the richessis of the plente of the vndurstondyng, in to the knowyng of mysterie of God, the fadir of Jhesu Crist, |
| 2:3 | in whom alle the tresouris of wisdom and of science ben hid. |
| 2:4 | For this thing Y seie, that no man disseyue you in heiythe of wordis. |
| 2:5 | For thouy Y be absent in bodi, bi spirit Y am with you, ioiynge and seynge youre ordre and the sadnesse of youre bileue that is in Crist. |
| 2:6 | Therfor as ye han takun Jhesu Crist oure Lord, |
| 2:7 | walke ye in hym, and be ye rootid and bieldid aboue in hym, and confermyd in the bileue, as ye han lerud, aboundinge in hym in doynge of thankyngis. |
| 2:8 | Se ye that no man disseyue you bi filosofie and veyn fallace, aftir the tradicioun of men, aftir the elementis of the world, and not aftir Crist. |
| 2:9 | For in hym dwellith bodilich al the fulnesse of the Godhed. |
| 2:10 | And ye ben fillid in hym, that is heed of al principat and power. |
| 2:11 | In whom also ye ben circumcidid in circumcisioun not maad with hoond, in dispoyling of the bodi of fleisch, but in circumcisioun of Crist; |
| 2:12 | and ye ben biried togidere with hym in baptim, in whom also ye han rise ayen bi feith of the worching of God, that reiside hym fro deth. |
| 2:13 | And whanne ye weren deed in giltis, and in the prepucie of youre fleisch, he quikenyde togidere you with hym; |
| 2:14 | foryyuynge to you alle giltis, doynge awei that writing of decre that was ayens vs, that was contrarie to vs; and he took awei that fro the myddil, pitchinge it on the cros; |
| 2:15 | and he spuylide principatis and poweris, and ledde out tristili, opynli ouercomynge hem in hym silf. |
| 2:16 | Therfor no man iuge you in mete, or in drink, or in part of feeste dai, or of neomenye, |
| 2:17 | or of sabatis, whiche ben schadewe of thingis to comynge; for the bodi is of Crist. |
| 2:18 | No man disseyue you, willynge to teche in mekenesse, and religioun of aungelis, tho thingis whiche he hath not seyn, walkinge veynli, bolnyd with wit of his fleisch, |
| 2:19 | and not holdynge the heed, of which al the bodi, bi boondis and ioynyngis togidere vndur mynystrid and maad, wexith in to encreessing of God. |
| 2:20 | For if ye ben deed with Crist fro the elementis of this world, what yit as men lyuynge to the world demen ye? |
| 2:21 | That ye touche not, nether taaste, |
| 2:22 | nether trete with hoondis tho thingis, whiche alle ben in to deth bi the ilke vss, aftir the comaundementis and the techingis of men; |
| 2:23 | whiche han a resoun of wisdom in veyn religioun and mekenesse, and not to spare the bodi, not in ony onour to the fulfillyng of the fleisch. |
| 2:1 | For I woulde ye knewe what great fighting I haue for your sakes, and for them of Laodicea, and for as many as haue not seene my person in the flesh, |
| 2:2 | That their heartes might be comforted, and they knit together in loue, and in all riches of the full assurance of vnderstanding, to know the mysterie of God, euen the Father, and of Christ: |
| 2:3 | In whom are hid all the treasures of wisedome and knowledge. |
| 2:4 | And this I say, lest any man shoulde beguile you with entising wordes: |
| 2:5 | For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, reioycing and beholding your order, and your stedfast faith in Christ. |
| 2:6 | As ye haue therefore receiued Christ Iesus the Lord, so walke in him, |
| 2:7 | Rooted and built in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye haue bene taught, abouding therein with thankesgiuing. |
| 2:8 | Beware lest there be any man that spoile you through philosophie, and vaine deceit, through the traditions of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. |
| 2:9 | For in him dwelleth all the fulnesse of the Godhead bodily. |
| 2:10 | And yee are complete in him, which is the head of all principalitie and power. |
| 2:11 | In whome also yee are circumcised with circumcision made without handes, by putting off the sinfull body of the flesh, through the circumcision of Christ, |
| 2:12 | In that yee are buried with him through baptisme, in whome ye are also raised vp together through the faith of the operation of God, which raised him from the dead. |
| 2:13 | And you which were dead in sinnes, and in the vncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, forgiuing you all your trespasses, |
| 2:14 | And putting out the hand writing of ordinances that was against vs, which was contrarie to vs, hee euen tooke it out of the way, and fastened it vpon the crosse, |
| 2:15 | And hath spoyled the Principalities, and Powers, and hath made a shew of them openly, and hath triumphed ouer them in the same crosse. |
| 2:16 | Let no man therefore condemne you in meate and drinke, or in respect of an holy day, or of the newe moone, or of the Sabbath dayes, |
| 2:17 | Which are but a shadowe of thinges to come: but the body is in Christ. |
| 2:18 | Let no man at his pleasure beare rule ouer you by humblenesse of minde, and worshipping of Angels, aduauncing himselfe in those thinges which hee neuer sawe, rashly puft vp with his fleshly minde, |
| 2:19 | And holdeth not the head, whereof all the body furnished and knit together by ioyntes and bands, increaseth with the increasing of God. |
| 2:20 | Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the ordinances of the world, why, as though ye liued in ye world, are ye burdened with traditions? |
| 2:21 | As, Touch not, Taste not, Handle not. |
| 2:22 | Which al perish with the vsing, and are after the commandements and doctrines of men. |
| 2:23 | Which thinges haue in deede a shewe of wisdome, in voluntarie religion and humblenesse of minde, and in not sparing the body, which are thinges of no valewe, sith they perteine to the filling of the flesh. |
| 2:1 | Because, I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and for those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh, |
| 2:2 | that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, |
| 2:3 | in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. |
| 2:4 | Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. |
| 2:5 | Because, though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing to see your order and the firmness of your faith in Christ. |
| 2:6 | Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, |
| 2:7 | rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. |
| 2:8 | Beware lest anyone rob you through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. |
| 2:9 | Because, in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; |
| 2:10 | and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. |
| 2:11 | In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, |
| 2:12 | buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through the faith of the working of God, who has raised Him from the dead. |
| 2:13 | And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, |
| 2:14 | having erased the written record of commands that were against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross. |
| 2:15 | Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. |
| 2:16 | Therefore let no man judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days, |
| 2:17 | which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ. |
| 2:18 | Let no one rob you of your reward, delighting in false humility and worship of angels, meddling into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, |
| 2:19 | And not clinging to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, increases with the increase from God. |
| 2:20 | Therefore, if you are dead with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, are you subject to regulations, |
| 2:21 | ("Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle," |
| 2:22 | which all concern things which perish with the using) according to the commandments and doctrines of men? |
| 2:23 | These things certainly have an appearance of wisdom in self imposed worship and humility, and neglecting of the body, but have no value against the indulgence of the flesh. |
