1 Thessalonians - Chapter: 2


2:1	For ye youre selues knowe brethren of oure entraunce in vnto you, how that it was not in vaine:
2:2	but euen after that we had suffred before, and were shamefullye entreated at Philippos (as ye wel know) then were we bolde in our God to speake vnto you the Gospel of God wyth muche stryuynge.
2:3	Oure exhortacyon was not to bringe you to erroure, nor yet to vnclennes, neyther was it wyth gile,
2:4	but as we were allowed of God, that the Gospel shoulde be committed vnto vs, euen so we spake, not as though we entended to please men, but God whyche tryeth oure hertes.
2:5	Neither was our conuersacyon at anye tyme wyth flatterynge wordes, as ye well knowe neyther in cloked couetousnes, god is record:
2:6	neyther sought we prayse of men neyther of you, nor yet of anye other, when we mighte haue bene chargeable, as the Apostles of Christe,
2:7	but we were tender amonge you, euen as a noursse cheryshed his children,
2:8	so was our affeccion toward you, oure good wil was to haue dealte to you, not the Gospel of God onely, but also our owne soules because ye were deare to vs.
2:9	Ye remember brethren our labour and trauayle. For we laboured day and night, because we would not be greuous vnto any of you, and preached vnto you the Gospel of God.
2:10	Ye are wytnesses, and so is God, howe holily and iustlye and vnblameably we behaued our selues among you that beleue
2:11	as ye know howe that we exhorted and comforted, and besoughte euerye one of you, as a father hys chyldren,
2:12	that ye woulde walke worthye of God, whiche hath called you vnto his kingdome & glory.
2:13	For thys cause thanke we God wythout ceasyng, because that when ye receiued of vs the word, wher with God was preached, ye receiued it not as the worde of man: but euen as it was in dede, the worde of God: whiche worketh in you that beleue.
2:14	For ye brethren became folowers of the congregacions of God, which in Iewrye are in Christ Iesu, for ye haue suffred lyke thinges of your kinsmen, as we our selues haue suffred of the Iewes.
2:15	Which as they kylled the Lorde Iesus and theyr owne prophetes, euen so haue they persecuted vs, and God they please not, and are contrarye to all men,
2:16	and forbid vs to preache vnto the Gentyls, that they might be saued to fulfyll theyr synnes alwaye. For the wrathe of God is come on them, euen to the vtmost.
2:17	For as muche brethren as we are kepte from you for a season as concernynge the bodely presence, but not in the herte we enforsed the more to se you personallye wyth greate desyre.
2:18	And therfore we woulde haue come vnto you I Paule ones and agayne: but Sathan withstode vs.
2:19	For what is oure hope or ioye, or crowne of reioysynge: are not ye it in the presence of our Lord Iesus Christ at hys coming?
2:20	yes ye are our glory and ioye.

2:4	But as we were allowed of God, that the Gospel should be committed vnto vs, so we speake, not as they that please men, but God, which approoueth our hearts.
2:5	Neither yet did we euer vse flattering wordes, as ye knowe, nor coloured couetousnes, God is recorde.
2:6	Neither sought we prayse of men, neither of you, nor of others, when we might haue bene chargeable, as the Apostles of Christ.
2:7	But we were gentle among you, euen as a nource cherisheth her children.
2:8	Thus being affectioned toward you, our good will was to haue dealt vnto you, not the Gospel of God onely, but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs.
2:9	For ye remember, brethren, our labour and trauaile: for we laboured day and night, because we would not be chargeable vnto any of you, and preached vnto you the Gospel of God.
2:10	Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily, and iustly, and vnblameably we behaued our selues among you that beleeue.
2:11	As ye knowe how that we exhorted you, and comforted, and besought euery one of you (as a father his children)
2:12	That ye would walke worthy of God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glorie.
2:13	For this cause also thanke we God without ceasing, that when ye receiued the worde of God, which ye heard of vs, ye receiued it not as the worde of men, but as it is in deede the worde of God, which also worketh in you that beleeue.
2:14	For brethren, ye are become folowers of the Churches of God, which in Iudea are in Christ Iesus, because ye haue also suffred the same things of your owne countrey men, euen as they haue of the Iewes,
2:15	Who both killed the Lord Iesus and their owne Prophets, and haue persecuted vs away, and God they please not, and are contrary to all men,
2:16	And forbid vs to preach vnto the Gentiles, that they might be saued, to fulfill their sinnes alwayes: for the wrath of God is come on them, to the vtmost.
2:17	For asmuch, brethren, as we were kept from you for a season, concerning sight, but not in the heart, we enforced the more to see your face with great desire.
2:18	Therefore we would haue come vnto you (I Paul, at least once or twise) but Satan hindered vs.
2:19	For what is our hope or ioye, or crowne of reioycing? are not euen you it in the presence of our Lord Iesus Christ at his comming?
2:20	Yea, ye are our glory and ioy.

2:5	For neither at any time vsed wee flattering wordes, as yee knowe, nor a cloke of couetousnesse, God is witnesse:
2:6	Nor of men sought we glorie, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might haue beene burdensome, as the Apostles of Christ.
2:7	But wee were gentle among you, euen as a nurse cherisheth her children:
2:8	So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to haue imparted vnto you, not the Gospel of God only, but also our owne soules, because ye were deare vnto vs.
2:9	For yee remember, brethren, our labour and trauaile: for labourng night and day, because wee would not bee chargeable vnto any of you, wee preached vnto you the Gospel of God.
2:10	Yee are witnesses, and God also, how holily, and iustly, and vnblameably wee behaued our selues among you that beleeue.
2:11	As you know, how wee exhorted and comforted, and charged euery one of you, (as a father doeth his children,)
2:12	That ye would walke worthy of God, who hath called you vnto his kingdome and glory.
2:13	For this cause also thanke wee God without ceasing, because when yee receiued the word of God, which yee heard of vs, yee receiued it not as the word of men, but (as it is in trueth) the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that beleeue.
2:14	For yee, brethren, became followers of the Churches of God, which in Iudea are in Christ Iesus: for ye also haue suffered like things of your owne countreymen, euen as they haue of the Iewes:
2:15	Who both killed the Lord Iesus, and their owne Prophets, and haue persecuted vs: and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
2:16	Forbidding vs to speake to the Gentiles, that they might bee saued, to fill vp their sinnes alway: for the wrath is come vpon them to the vttermost.
2:17	But wee, brethren, beeing taken from you for a short time, in presence, not in heart, endeuored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
2:18	Wherefore we would haue come vnto you (euen I Paul) once & againe: but Satan hindered vs.
2:19	For what is our hope, or ioy, or crowne of reioycing? Are not euen ye in the presence of our Lord Iesus Christ at his comming?
2:20	For, ye are our glory and ioy.
