| 3:1 | Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone; |
| 3:2 | And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: |
| 3:3 | That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. |
| 3:4 | For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. |
| 3:5 | For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. |
| 3:6 | But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: |
| 3:7 | Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: |
| 3:8 | For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. |
| 3:9 | For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God; |
| 3:10 | Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? |
| 3:11 | Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. |
| 3:12 | And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: |
| 3:13 | To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. |

| 3:2 | και επεμψαμεν τιμοθεον τον αδελφον ημων και διακονον του θεου και συνεργον ημων εν τω ευαγγελιω του χριστου εις το στηριξαι υμας και παρακαλεσαι υμας περι της πιστεως υμων |
| 3:3 | τω μηδενα σαινεσθαι εν ταις θλιψεσιν ταυταις αυτοι γαρ οιδατε οτι εις τουτο κειμεθα |
| 3:4 | και γαρ οτε προς υμας ημεν προελεγομεν υμιν οτι μελλομεν θλιβεσθαι καθως και εγενετο και οιδατε |
| 3:5 | δια τουτο καγω μηκετι στεγων επεμψα εις το γνωναι την πιστιν υμων μηπως επειρασεν υμας ο πειραζων και εις κενον γενηται ο κοπος ημων |
| 3:6 | αρτι δε ελθοντος τιμοθεου προς ημας αφ υμων και ευαγγελισαμενου ημιν την πιστιν και την αγαπην υμων και οτι εχετε μνειαν ημων αγαθην παντοτε επιποθουντες ημας ιδειν καθαπερ και ημεις υμας |
| 3:7 | δια τουτο παρεκληθημεν αδελφοι εφ υμιν επι παση τη θλιψει και αναγκη ημων δια της υμων πιστεως |
| 3:8 | οτι νυν ζωμεν εαν υμεις στηκητε εν κυριω |
| 3:9 | τινα γαρ ευχαριστιαν δυναμεθα τω θεω ανταποδουναι περι υμων επι παση τη χαρα η χαιρομεν δι υμας εμπροσθεν του θεου ημων |
| 3:10 | νυκτος και ημερας υπερ εκπερισσου δεομενοι εις το ιδειν υμων το προσωπον και καταρτισαι τα υστερηματα της πιστεως υμων |
| 3:11 | αυτος δε ο θεος και πατηρ ημων και ο κυριος ημων ιησους χριστος κατευθυναι την οδον ημων προς υμας |
| 3:12 | υμας δε ο κυριος πλεονασαι και περισσευσαι τη αγαπη εις αλληλους και εις παντας καθαπερ και ημεις εις υμας |
| 3:13 | εις το στηριξαι υμων τας καρδιας αμεμπτους εν αγιωσυνη εμπροσθεν του θεου και πατρος ημων εν τη παρουσια του κυριου ημων ιησου χριστου μετα παντων των αγιων αυτου |

| 3:3 | yt no ma shulde be moved in these affliccios. For ye youre selves knowe that we are even apoynted therevnto. |
| 3:4 | For verely when I was with you I tolde you before that we shulde suffre tribulacion even as it came to passe and as ye knowe. |
| 3:5 | For this cause when I coulde no lenger forbeare I sent that I myght have knowledge of youre fayth lest haply the tempter had tempted you and that oure laboure had bene bestowed in vayne. |
| 3:6 | But now lately whe Timotheus came fro you vnto vs and declared to vs youre fayth and youre love and how that ye have good remembraunce of vs all wayes desyringe to se vs as we desyre to se you. |
| 3:7 | Therfore brethre we had consolacion in you in all oure adversite and necessite through youre fayth. |
| 3:8 | For now are we alyve yf ye stonde stedfast in the lorde. |
| 3:9 | For what thankes can we recompence to god agayne for you over all the ioye that we ioye for youre sakes before oure god |
| 3:10 | whyle we nyght and daye praye excedingly that we myght se you presently and myght fulfill that wich is lackynge in youre fayth. |
| 3:11 | God him silfe oure father and oure lorde Iesus Christ gyde oure iorney vnto you: |
| 3:12 | and the lorde increace you and make you flowe ouer in love one towarde another and towarde all men even as we do towarde you |
| 3:13 | to make youre hertes stable and vnblameable in holynes before God oure father at the commynge of oure Lorde Iesus Christ with all his sainctes. |
