| 1:4 | neyther geue hede to fables and genealogyes whiche are endelesse, & brede doubtes more then Godlye edifiynge whiche is by fayth: |
| 1:5 | for the ende of the commaundement is loue that commeth of a pure hert, & of a good conscience, and of fayth vnfayned: |
| 1:6 | from the which thinges some haue erred & haue turned vnto vayne iangelyng, |
| 1:7 | because they woulde be doctours in the scrypture, and yet vnderstand not what they speake, nether wherof they affyrme. |
| 1:8 | We knowe that the lawe is good, yf a man vse it lawfullye, |
| 1:9 | vnderstandynge thys, howe that the lawe is not geuen vnto a ryghtuous man but vnto the vnryghtuous and disobedient, to the vngodly and to synners, to vnholy and vncleane, to murtherers of fathers, and murtherers of mothers to manstears |
| 1:10 | & whor mongers: to them that defyle them selues wyth mankynde: to menstealers, to lyars & to periured, and so forth yf there be any other thynge that is contrarye to holsome doctrine |
| 1:11 | accordynge to the Gospell of the glorye of the blessed God, whiche Gospell is committed vnto me. |
| 1:12 | And I thanke Christe Iesus oure Lorde which hath made me stronge: for he counted me true, and put me in offyce, |
| 1:13 | when before I was a blasphemer and persecuter, and a tyraunte. But I obtayned mercye, because I dyd it ignorauntly thorowe vnbelefe. |
| 1:14 | Neuerthelater the grace of oure Lorde was more aboundaunt wyth fayth and loue whiche is in Christ Iesu. |
| 1:15 | Thys is a true saiynge and by all meanes worthy to be receyued, that Christ Iesus came into the worlde to saue synners, of whom I am chiefe. |
| 1:16 | Not wythstandyng for this cause was mercye geuen vnto me that Iesus christ shoulde fyrste shewe on me all longe pacience vnto the ensample of them whiche shal in tyme to come beleue on hym vnto eternall lyfe. |
| 1:17 | So then vnto God, kyng euerlastyng, immortall, inuysyble, and wyse onely, be honoure & prayse for euer and euer. Amen. |
| 1:18 | Thys commaundement committe I vnto the sonne Timotheus, accordyng to the Prophesyes whiche in tyme paste were Prophesyed of the that thou in them shouldest fyght a good fyghte |
| 1:19 | hauynge fayth and a good conscience whiche some haue put awaye from them and as concernyuge faythe, haue made shypwracke. |
| 1:20 | Of whose numbre is Himeneus and Alexander whome I haue delyuered vnto Sathan that he myghte be taught not to blaspheme. |
| 1:1 | Pavl an Apostle of Iesvs Christ, by the commandement of God our Sauiour, and of our Lord Iesus Christ our hope, |
| 1:2 | Vnto Timotheus my naturall sonne in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father, and from Christ Iesus our Lord. |
| 1:3 | As I besought thee to abide still in Ephesus, when I departed into Macedonia, so doe, that thou mayest warne some, that they teach none other doctrine, |
| 1:4 | Neither that they giue heede to fables and genealogies which are endles, which breede questions rather then godly edifying which is by fayth. |
| 1:5 | For the end of the commandement is loue out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith vnfained. |
| 1:6 | From the which things some haue erred, and haue turned vnto vaine iangling. |
| 1:7 | They would be doctours of the Law, and yet vnderstande not what they speake, neither whereof they affirme. |
| 1:8 | And we knowe, that the Law is good, if a man vse it lawfully, |
| 1:9 | Knowing this, that the Lawe is not giuen vnto a righteous man, but vnto the lawles and disobedient, to the vngodly, and to sinners, to the vnholy, and to the prophane, to murtherers of fathers and mothers, to manslayers, |
| 1:10 | To whoremongers, to buggerers, to menstealers, to lyers, to the periured, and if there be any other thing, that is contrary to wholesome doctrine, |
| 1:11 | Which is according to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, which is committed vnto me. |
| 1:12 | Therefore I thanke him, which hath made me strong, that is, Christ Iesus our Lord: for he counted me faithfull, and put me in his seruice: |
| 1:13 | When before I was a blasphemer, and a persecuter, and an oppresser: but I was receiued to mercie: for I did it ignorantly through vnbeliefe. |
| 1:14 | But the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and loue, which is in Christ Iesus. |
| 1:15 | This is a true saying, and by all meanes worthy to be receiued, that Christ Iesus came into the worlde to saue sinners, of whom I am chiefe. |
| 1:16 | Notwithstanding, for this cause was I receiued to mercie, that Iesus Christ should first shewe on me all long suffering vnto the ensample of them, which shall in time to come beleeue in him vnto eternall life. |
| 1:17 | Nowe vnto the King euerlasting, immortall, inuisible, vnto God onely wise, be honour and glorie, for euer, and euer, Amen. |
| 1:18 | This commandement commit I vnto thee, sonne Timotheus, according to the prophecies, which went before vpon thee, that thou by them shouldest fight a good fight, |
| 1:19 | Hauing faith and a good conscience, which some haue put away, and as concerning faith, haue made shipwracke. |
| 1:20 | Of whom is Hymeneus, and Alexander, whom I haue deliuered vnto Satan, that they might learne not to blaspheme. |
| 1:1 | Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope; |
| 1:2 | Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. |
| 1:3 | As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, |
| 1:4 | Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. |
| 1:5 | Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: |
| 1:6 | From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; |
| 1:7 | Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. |
| 1:8 | But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; |
| 1:9 | Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, |
| 1:10 | For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; |
| 1:11 | According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. |
| 1:12 | And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; |
| 1:13 | Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. |
| 1:14 | And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. |
| 1:15 | This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. |
| 1:16 | Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. |
| 1:17 | Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
| 1:18 | This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; |
| 1:19 | Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: |
| 1:20 | Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. |
