>
1:1Paule the seruaunt of God and an Apostle of Iesu Christ, to preache the faythe, of Goddes elect, & the knowledge of that truethe, whiche is after Godlynes,
1:2vpon the hope, of eternall lyfe, whiche lyfe God that can not lye, hath promysed before the worlde beganne:
1:3but hath opened hys worde, at the tyme appoynted thorowe preachynge which preachynge is commytted vnto me by the commaundement of God oure sauyoure.
1:4To Titus hys naturall sonne in the common fayth. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the father and from the Lorde Iesu Christe oure sauyoure.
1:5For thys cause left I the in Crete, that thou shouldest performe that whiche was lackynge, and shouldest ordeyne elders in euery cytye as I appoynted the.
1:6Yf any be fautelesse, the husbande of one wyfe hauyng faythfull chyldren, whiche are not sclaundred of ryote, neyther are dysobedyent.
1:7For a byshoppe must be fautelesse, as it becommeth the mynister of God: not stubborne, not angrye, no dronkarde, no fyghter, not geuen to fylthy lucre:
1:8but herberous one that loueth goodnes, sober mynded, ryghtuous, holy temperate,
1:9and suche as cleaueth vnto the true worde of doctryne, that he maye be able to exhorte wyth wholesome learnynge, and to improue them, that saye agaynste it.
1:10For there are many dysobedyent: & talkers of vanitye and disceyuers of myndes, namely they of the circumcision,
1:11whose mouthes must be stopped: whiche peruerte whole houses teachynge thynges whiche they oughte not because of fylthy lucre.
1:12One beyng of them selues, which was a poete of theyr owne, said: The Cretians are alwayes lyars, euil beastes and slowe belyes.
1:13Thys wytnesse is true, wherfore rebuke them sharply that they may be sounde in the fayth,
1:14and not takyng hede to Iewes fables and commaundementes of men that turne from the truethe.
1:15Vnto the pure are all thynges pure, but vnto them that are defyled and vnbeleuynge, is nothynge pure: but euen the very myndes and consciences of them are defyled.
1:16They confesse that they knowe God: but wyth the dedes they denye hym, and are abhomynable and dysobedient, and vnto all good workes discommendable.

1:1Paul a seruaunt of God, & an Apostle of Iesus Christe, according to the fayth of Gods elect, & the knowledge of ye trueth, whiche is after godlynesse,
1:2In the hope of eternall lyfe, which God that can not lye, promised before the worlde began:
1:3But hath made manifest his worde, at ye time appoynted through preaching, which is committed vnto me, according to the ordinaunce of God our sauiour:
1:4To Titus a natural sonne after the common fayth: Grace, mercie, peace, from God the father, and the Lorde Iesus Christe our sauiour.
1:5For this cause left I thee in Creta, that thou shouldest refourme ye thynges that are left, and ordayne elders in euerye citie, as I had appoynted thee:
1:6If any be blamelesse, the husbande of one wyfe, hauyng faythfull chyldren, not accusable of riote, or vntractable.
1:7For a bishop must be blamelesse, as the stewarde of God: not stubborne, not angry, not geuen to wyne, no striker, not geuen to filthie lucre:
1:8But a louer of hospitalitie, a louer of goodnes, sober, ryghteous, godly, temperate,
1:9Holdyng fast the faythfull worde, which is accordyng to doctrine, that he may be able both to exhort in wholsome doctrine, and to improue them that say agaynst it.
1:10For there are many vnruly, and vayne talkers, and deceauers of myndes, specially they [that are] of ye circumcision,
1:11Whose mouthes must be stopped, which subuert whole houses, teachyng thynges which they ought not, for fylthie lucre sake.
1:12One of them selues [euen] a prophete of their owne, sayde: The Crettans [are] alwayes lyers, euyll beastes, slowe bellyes.
1:13This witnesse is true: wherfore rebuke them sharpely that they may be founde in the fayth,
1:14Not takyng heede to Iewes fables and comaundementes of men, turnyng from the trueth.
1:15Unto the pure, [are] all thynges pure: but vnto them that are defyled and vnbeleuyng, [is] nothyng pure, but euen the mynde and conscience of them is defyled.
1:16They confesse that they knowe God: but with workes they denie hym, seyng they are abhominable and disobedient, and vnto euery good worke reprobate.

1:1Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is according to godliness;
1:2In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began;
1:3But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;
1:4To Titus, my own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.
1:5For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou shouldst set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
1:6If any is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of riot, or disorderly.
1:7For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
1:8But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
1:9Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
1:10For there are many disorderly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
1:11Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of sordid gain.
1:12One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
1:13This testimony is true: wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
1:14Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men that turn from the truth.
1:15To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
1:16They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and to every good work reprobate.
