James - Chapter: 4

>
4:1From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
4:2Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
4:3Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4:4Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
4:5Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
4:6But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
4:7Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
4:8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
4:9Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
4:10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
4:11Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
4:12There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
4:13Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
4:14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
4:15For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
4:16But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
4:17Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

4:1Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your lust for pleasure that war in your members?
4:2You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
4:3You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
4:4You adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
4:5Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"?
4:6But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."
4:7Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
4:8Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.
4:9Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
4:10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
4:11Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of his brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
4:12There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?
4:13Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit";
4:14whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. Because what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
4:15Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that."
4:16But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
4:17Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

4:1From whence commeth warre and fighttynge amonge you: come they not here hence? even of youre volupteousnes that rayne in youre members.
4:2Ye lust and have not. Ye envie and have indignacion and cannot obtayne. Ye fight and warre and have not because ye axe not.
4:3Ye axe and receave not because ye axe a mysse: even to consume it apon youre volupteousnes.
4:4Ye advouterars and wemen that breke matrimonie: knowe ye not how yt the freshippe of ye worlde is ennimite to god warde? Whosoever wilbe a frende of the worlde is made the enemie of god.
4:5Ether do ye thinke that the scripture sayth in vayne The sprite that dwelleth in you lusteth eve contrary to envie:
4:6but geveth more grace.
4:7Submit youre selves to god and resist the devyll and he will flye from you.
4:8Drawe nye to god and he will drawe nye to you. Clense youre hondes ye synners and pourdge youre hertes ye waverynge mynded.
4:9Suffre affliccios: sorowe ye and wepe. Let youre laughter be turned to mornynge and youre ioye to hevynes.
4:10Cast doune youre selves before the lorde and he shall lift you vp.
4:11Backbyte not one another brethren. He that backbyteh hys brother and he that iudgeth his brother backbyteth the lawe and iudgeth the lawe. But and yf thou iudge the lawe thou art not an observer of ye lawe: but a iudge.
4:12Ther is one lawe gever which is able to save and to distroye. What art thou that iudgest another man?
4:13Go to now ye that saye: to daye and to morow let vs go into soche a citie and continue there a yeare and bye and sell and wynne:
4:14and yet can not tell what shall happen to morowe. For what thynge is youre lyfe? It is even a vapoure that apereth for a lytell tyme and the vanyssheth awaye:
4:15For that ye ought to saye: yf the lorde will and yf we live let vs do this or that.
4:16But nowe ye reioyce in youre bostinges. All soche reioysynge is evyll.
4:17Therfore to him that knoweth how to do good and doth it not to him it is synne.
