James - Chapter: 5

>
5:1Come now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that will come upon you!
5:2Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth eaten.
5:3Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like it was fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.
5:4Behold, the wages of the laborers who harvested your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cries out; and the outcry of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
5:5You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
5:6You have condemned and murdered the just; and he does not resist you.
5:7Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and waits patiently for it until he receives the early and latter rain.
5:8You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws near.
5:9Do not hold a grudge against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door!
5:10My brethren, take the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering affliction and of patience.
5:11Behold, we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord, that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
5:12But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But let your "Yes" be "Yes," and your "No," "No," lest you fall into condemnation.
5:13Is anyone among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
5:14Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
5:15And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
5:16Confess your faults to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
5:17Elijah was a man subject to passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
5:18And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced her fruit.
5:19Brethren, if any of you wanders from the truth, and someone converts him
5:20let him know that he who converts a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

5:1Goe to nowe, ye rich men: weepe, and howle for your miseries that shall come vpon you.
5:2Your riches are corrupt, and your garments are moth eaten.
5:3Your gold and siluer is cankred, and the rust of them shalbe a witnesse against you, and shall eate your flesh, as it were fire. Ye haue heaped vp treasure for the last dayes.
5:4Behold, the hire of ye labourers, which haue reaped your fieldes (which is of you kept backe by fraude) cryeth, and the cryes of them which haue reaped, are entred into the eares of the Lord of hostes.
5:5Ye haue liued in pleasure on the earth, and in wantonnes. Ye haue nourished your heartes, as in a day of slaughter.
5:6Ye haue condemned and haue killed the iust, and he hath not resisted you.
5:7Be patient therefore, brethren, vnto the comming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman wayteth for the precious fruite of the earth, and hath long patience for it, vntill he receiue the former, and the latter rayne.
5:8Be ye also patient therefore and settle your hearts: for ye comming of the Lord draweth neere.
5:9Grudge not one against another, brethren, least ye be condemned: behold, the iudge standeth before the doore.
5:10Take, my brethren, the Prophets for an ensample of suffering aduersitie, and of long patience, which haue spoken in the Name of the Lord.
5:11Beholde, we count them blessed which endure. Ye haue heard of the patience of Iob, and haue knowen what ende the Lord made. For the Lord is very pitifull and mercifull.
5:12But before all thinges, my brethren, sweare not, neither by heauen, nor by earth, nor by any other othe: but let your yea, be yea, and your nay, nay, lest ye fall into condemnation.
5:13Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merie? Let him sing.
5:14Is any sicke among you? Let him call for the Elders of the Church, and let them pray for him, and anoynt him with oyle in the Name of the Lord.
5:15And the prayer of faith shall saue the sicke, and the Lord shall raise him vp: and if he haue committed sinnes, they shalbe forgiuen him.
5:16Acknowledge your faultes one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed: for the prayer of a righteous man auaileth much, if it be feruent.
5:17Helias was a man subiect to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rayne, and it rayned not on the earth for three yeeres and sixe moneths.
5:18And he prayed againe, and the heauen gaue rayne, and the earth brought forth her fruite.
5:19Brethren, if any of you hath erred from the trueth, and some man hath conuerted him,
5:20Let him know that he which hath conuerted the sinner from going astray out of his way, shall saue a soule from death, and shall hide a multitude of sinnes.

5:1Goo to now ye ryche men. Wepe and howle on youre wretchednes that shall come apon you.
5:2Youre ryches is corrupte youre garmentes are motheaten.
5:3Youre golde and youre silver are cankred and the rust of them shalbe a witnes vnto you and shall eate youre flesshe as it were fyre. Ye have heaped treasure togedder in youre last dayes:
5:4Beholde the hyre of ye labourers which have reped doune youre feldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) cryeth: and ye cryes of them which have reped are entred into the eares of the lorde Sabaoth.
5:5Ye have lived in pleasure on the erth and in wantannes. Ye have norysshed youre hertes as in a daye of slaughter.
5:6Ye have condempned and have killed the iust and he hath not resisted you.
5:7Be pacient therfore brethren vnto the commynge of the lorde. Beholde the husbande man wayteth for the precious frute of the erth and hath longe pacience ther vppon vntill he receave (the erly and the latter rayne.)
5:8Be ye also pacient therfore and settle youre hertes for ye commynge of the lorde draweth nye.
5:9Grodge not one agaynst another brethre lest ye be dapned. Beholde the iudge stondeth before the dore.
5:10Take (my brethren) the prophettes for an ensample of sufferynge adversitie and of longe pacience which spake in the name of the lorde.
5:11Beholde we counte them happy which endure. Ye have hearde of the pacience of Iob and have knowen what ende the lorde made. For the lorde is very pitifull and mercifull.
5:12But above all thynges my brethre sweare not nether by heven nether by erth nether by eny other othe. Let youre ye be ye and youre maye naye: lest ye faule into ypocrecy.
5:13Yf eny of you be evyll vexed let him praye. Yf eny of you be mery let him singe Psalmes.
5:14Yf eny be defeated amonge you let him call for the elders of the congregacion and let the praye over him and anoynte him with oyle in the name of the lorde:
5:15and the prayer of fayth shall save the sicke and the lorde shall rayse him vp: and yf he have committed synnes they shalbe forgeuen him.
5:16knowledge youre fautes one to another: and praye one for another that ye maye be healed. The prayer of a ryghteous ma avayleth moche yf it be fervet.
5:17Helias was a man mortall even as we are and he prayed in his prayer that it myght not rayne: and it rayned not on the erth by the space of thre yeares and sixe monethes.
5:18And he prayed agayne and the heve gave rayne and the erth brought forth her frute.
5:19Brethren yf eny of you erre from the trueth and an other convert him
5:20let the same knowe that he which converted the synner fro goynge a straye out of his waye shall save a soule fro deeth and shall hyde ye multitude of synnes.
